I originally found this salon after another place completely ruined my hair. I was desperate, and Mara took me the SAME DAY, without an appointment, on a Friday. She stayed until 9 PM fixing my hair! I was pissed because they were charging me $100 more because of the volume/length of my hair. I ended up paying $500. I told them it was a terrible job, so they asked me if I could come the next day to fix it. I did. They did a better job but not what I expected. Harsh lines, it wasn't blended, a completely mess. I came into this salon with a beautiful balayage that had taken me months to perfect -- time, sun, and patience had created a look I truly loved. When I first met Carlos, the owner, he even acknowledged how beautiful my hair was. My appointment was simple: a root touch-up and a trim. That's it. Instead, I left with hair two tones darker, no balayage, and no highlights at all. Carlos only cut my bangs (not the trim I had asked for), and my once natural, sun-kissed color was completely covered up. After washing, I immediately mentioned to him that my hair looked much darker, but he brushed it off saying, "It's just because it's wet." When it dried, it looked even darker -- I said something again, and he dismissed me by saying it would "lighten up over time, maybe." The most frustrating part? He justified his decision by saying my hair looked "brassy" -- but there are so many professional techniques to correct brassiness without eliminating balayage or going so dark. Instead of honoring my request, he made a choice for me -- one that erased months of effort and left me heartbroken. For me, this was more than just a color mistake, and waste of time and money. It was a breach of trust. When you sit in a stylist's chair, you expect to be heard and respected, not ignored or overridden. Especially as busy moms, we rely on professionals to do what we ask -- not what they decide for us. Now I'm left with dark hair I never wanted, no balayage, and the added burden of finding another salon to fix it, at the expense of damaging my hair. What should have been a simple maintenance appointment turned into a heartbreaking waste of time, money, and trust. I called to see if there was any availability during my lunch break and to my surprise, there was room to get me in. Jessy is who cut my hair, and she gave me EXACTLY what I asked for. So many stylists prior to this experience talked me down off of super short layers. But I'd gotten it before and loved it; I knew it would look good on me. She took her time and though it took longer than my lunch break, I really appreciated that she was committed to my vision to the end. More importantly, she wanted to ensure I loved it post blow dry and style. I was also able to take a 5 minute work call in the middle of my cut, which some salons do not allow; so I was also appreciative of the flexibility in allowing me to take it without headphones so last minute. I unfortunately had a very disappointing experience at this salon…read more Before my appointment, I showed my stylist inspiration pictures of **my own hair** from when I previously had the blonde color I wanted to return to. She also showed me her inspiration pictures, and we agreed on the cut and color before beginning. While she was coloring my hair, I asked about doing a full highlight and whether a partial would achieve the color we discussed. She told me it was too late to switch to a full because the technique was different. I wasn't concerned because I trusted that the partial would achieve the result we had agreed upon. After bleaching and toning my hair, she then told me that my hair would not be as blonde as I wanted because I had received a partial and would need a full session to achieve that result. I was very frustrated because I had specifically asked about a full highlight earlier. If I had been told beforehand that a partial could not achieve the agreed-upon color, I would have chosen a different service. I also noticed a visible line from my previous color that had not been blended. When I spoke with the manager, she told me, "I am the professional and I know what I'm talking about." I agreed and explained that this was exactly why I was upset--I trusted the professional to tell me what service was necessary to achieve the color we discussed. Instead, I was told after the service was completed that I couldn't get the result I wanted. The manager became extremely upset and yelled at me while I was trying to explain my concerns. I had to ask her to calm down. When I said I would be leaving an honest negative review about my experience, she accused me of threatening her. I found that response completely inappropriate and extremely disrespectful. I was not offered a refund, only discounted additional services to try to achieve the look I originally wanted. I never would have agreed to the salon's pricing if I had known beforehand that the service being performed could not achieve the result we discussed. I only booked here because my regular stylist was booked and I was trying to fit in an appointment. Unfortunately, I left unhappy with both my hair and the way my concerns were handled. I will not be returning. Edit: I am also a natural blonde, as the stylist stated during the appointment when she said this would be and "easy" treatment during the appointment. My stylist I normally go to also regularly performs this service.
