Sutra Salon - Interior of salon - Hair Salons Near Me - Jacksonville Beach, Florida

BEST SALON IN JACKSONVILLE! 11/10. Highly recommend, great workers and my hair turned out AMAZING.

I reached out to Sutra Salon to book a cut and color. I didn't really have much of a preference for my color; I wanted something that would give me some dimension so that when I braided my hair, it wasn't just one vanishing blob of brown. The employee I spoke to booked me an appointment, saying I probably wanted a balayage, and then followed up a few days later, asking for a picture of my hair and an idea of what I wanted to get done. I responded with a picture, mentioning that I had lighter ends from an old dye job, and saying that my main goal was more dimension in the top. I mentioned also that I did not want blonde highlights. I ended the text by asking if that was enough information, expecting that I would be opening a dialogue. The employee responded with "No" and nothing else. No feedback on what other information she might have needed, just "No" I waited a few minutes, thinking maybe she accidentally sent the text before she meant to. Nope! She sent nothing else. I don't profess to be a hair expert; I expect to be able to go to a salon and talk to a stylist to figure out what would work best for me. The fact that the employee had no feedback or input at all was jarring to me. After staring blankly at my phone for a bit, somewhat shocked at the lack of customer service and etiquette, I decided it would be best to cancel my appointment and find another salon. Hilariously, when I called Sutra to cancel, the same employee I'd been texting was the one to answer the phone. Her response to my cancellation without rescheduling? "Perfect" I would definitely not recommend this salon to anyone. I've included a screenshot of my text exchange with the Sutra employee, because receipts, right? read more

Sutra Salon - Hair Salons Near Me - Jacksonville Beach, Florida

I'm still relatively new to Jacksonville and was searching for a new hair salon. Hair cuts for me are always nerve racking because of past previous experiences I've had. Sutra Salon was recommended to me by a friend and it did not disappoint! I went in for a cut and blow out with Dena and was very happy with the outcome! Dena was friendly, easy to talk to, and efficient. I was in an out in less than an hour and spent no tome waiting. I'll be back for my next cut and am happy to say I've found a salon long term! read more

Sutra Salon - Cut and blow dry with Dena - Hair Salons Near Me - Jacksonville Beach, Florida

You can leave with new hair, new makeup, a new outfit and a great mood. They have a great variety of stylists to help you get whatever look you want. Erica was my girl and she did a great job makin my hair incredible. Highly recommend. read more

I've never been let down at Sutra. Very welcoming atmosphere when you step into this upscale salon. Products are high end and available for purchase. Dena always does a fantastic job but when Dena isn't available I've had no complaints about any other stylist, I never have to worry about having to go home and redo/fix my hair like other salons. Highly recommend. Parking can be a pain but I've never not found a space. read more

My fourth or fifth visit. Babs, the owner did my hair twice, then switched to Jackie. Babs is great, but $65.00 every 4 weeks was too much. Went yesterday and Jackie did a good job of hair cut, blow dry. We talked about our Christmas plans. Upon checkout , was told that the $35.00 was now $60.00! I got gibberish when protesting the high increase, and called twice today to speak about it. A slight cost of living increase I can understand, but "that's just the price " is not satisfactory! I really would like Babs to make this right and offer me a $25.00 credit. A good haircut is hard to find. Jax Beach is not NYC, prices should NOT be this high or so arbitrary. Waiting . . . read more

First review of the year! So did anyone notice how awesome my hair looked at the end of the year Yelpie Awards? Well if you didn't, it was GORG! I went to see Brittney at Sutra to get a blow so my hair would look nice for the event. She convinced me to go with curls, which I've never done because I don't know how to do it? She turned my flat, pin straight, baby hair in fabulous, bouncing tresses! HOW DID SHE DO IT!? Everyone knows I've had my fair share of hair salons. I had my top sort when I had my blonde locks and now I have Sutra for my brunette tresses. BRITTNEY is flipping amazing. Not only have I seen her work on others but myself as well. I went to another salon (which I won't name because the girl who did my hair was a little bit scary and aggressive and I don't want her to track me down) when my hair was platinum and I wanted to begin the process of getting it brown again. This girl turned my hair 50 shades of grey. Literally. Grey. Thankfully, I stopped by the trendy Sutra Salon and Brittney saved the day! She swooped in and painted me with the most beautiful color of brown I could ask for! Ever since then, I'm just so thrilled with the vibrancy of my hair color; not to mention she is on point with the cut. Pick a cut, any cut, this girl's got your back. Awesome thing number 2: with every hair treatment you get wine (or another beverage) and a paraffin treatment for your hands! Triple dipped in delicious hot wax and wrapped up while you get your hair washed. The salon itself is beautiful, clean, fun, and has great music. I haven't worked with any of the other girls but they all seem sweet and they have a fun time and always join in on conversation. Do yourself a favor and go get this year started right with a hot new head of hair! read more

Let me start off by saying that the salon is beautiful and modern and that the staff was friendly and welcoming. Once I was checked in, they offered me a drink and soon after, I met my stylist. Now! on to the good stuff - If you keep your hair short, Bryan is your man!!! I am singing the praises of this beautiful hair genius. During our consultation, he played with my hair - adding styling products to truly understand how my hair responds to styling and decide on the best approach to cut my hair. He was not concerned with time and was meticulous with each snip. I had resigned myself to receiving a mediocre cut that I would hide behind my styling skill. Instead I received the best hair cut ever. It's as if Bryan breathed life into my hair. As an added bonus, I received a paraffin hand spa treatment. It was truly the pampering that I needed. read more

Loving the gorgeous interior & friendly atmosphere! Called in advance and spoke with Caitlin Rogers. She was professional and answered all my questions about the Brazilian blow out process I was looking to have done. Came in for my consultation and brought along my special needs child who also needed a haircut. They were so gracious about the walk-in and Caitlin got him right in and was professional and kind. I booked my appointment for my blowout and ombre color services. When I came in on Sat she was on time and ready for me. I was offered a refreshment and a treat. She got right to work and was friendly and engaging. They do a free paraffin wax hand dip (awesome!) which was so unexpected and relaxing. When my service was done I was beyond happy with the results! Exactly what I wanted and skillfully done! I highly recommend Sutra, especially if you are looking for a salon that does Brazilian blow out service. It was worth every penny!!! read more

I visited Sutra while traveling after meeting the owner's husband and sharing my recent hair horror story. I was paired with Bryan who was wonderful. First I showed Bryan pictures of the color I was looking for. He then pulled up pictures and asked me questions to ensure we were on the same page. Bryan also walked me through all the prices pre-service which I'm definitely not used to being from Chicago. Bryan recommended products but with no type of pressure or sales pitch and even went out of his way to find me samples to take home. 3 weeks later and my color still looks as rich as when I left the salon! If I'm back in the area I will definitely visit again! read more

I had a great first experience! Jaclyn did a great job. She gave me exactly what I asked for which was to keep the length and freshen up my layers. She did amazing at blow drying my hair. I have thick, long hair and not many people know how to blow it out well and she did! I'll be back for a balayage with her in a few months! The hand scrub and paraffin wax was so soothing! read more

Sutra Salon is a trendy little salon in Jax Beach. Saw Caitlin to have my hair lightened up and cut and it turned out fantastic! The atmosphere is casual and stylish. I was able to make an appointment through text but you can also call, email or set up online. They offered me a drink. I just got a water but I think they have coffee and wine too. I would post a picture but I'm not camera ready at the moment haha. Love this place. Will keep going. Caitlin is amazing! read more

I have extremely thick hair with a mind of its own. Babs does a spectacular job thinning out this mess and always making it look perfect.

I'm pretty sure Carrie Fox is psychic. I can usually go to a stylist, point to a section of my hair and say "like this, but touched up." Unfortunately for me, the stylist I saw previously at another salon had absolutely botched my hair. I went to Carrie at Sutra and simply said "for the love of God, NOT this." I have a terrible time explaining what I'm looking for, but Carrie took my disjointed thoughts, jumped right in and NAILED IT. She did exactly what I had in mind with the color AND the cut. Carrie is a Jedi mind reader. I do not live in Jacksonville, but I'll go out of my way for an appointment with her when I'm there! read more

I love Sutra Salon! My hair always looks lovely, and exactly like I want it! I get highlights and a cut from Babs- who is fabulous. I've been a customer there for over 5 years, and never left after an appointment anything less than ecstatic. While your color processes- they will offer you a handcrafted coffee, soda, or glass of wine. Then you get a moisturizing warm paraffin hand treatment while they shampoo your hair. My favorite is the blow dry bar for those special nights out. Sutra Salon provides their customers with top-of-the-line hair styles with luxurious extras to pamper and spoil. read more

I've been going here for a few months now. Carrie Fox is my hairdresser, and she's wonderful. She listens, she asks the right questions to make sure she understands, then she gives you the perfect cut. I LOVE my hair. It's exactly what I wanted. Go, see Carrie, you won't be disappointed. read more

Just went to sutra with my mom who lives here in Jacksonville. I'm from Atlanta so this was the first time coming here- needless to say, I would definitely fly back here just to get my hair done again. Erin was my hair stylist and she is so charismatic and definitely knows hair. My hair was still a bit darker from my previous set of blonde highlights two months ago. I wanted to go lighter and Erin did AMAZING. My hair is bright, full and perfect for summer. I will definitely be coming back here! read more

Got my 19 year old daughter a gift certificate for xmas and setup appointment with Babs. She did a terrific job with her blonde highlights. The best job anyone has ever done. She did her roots close to her head and did underneath part perfectly which is important because she wears up in buns alot. Past hairdressers never do that properly. I highly recommend Babs! read more

This was my first time at Sutra, and I saw Erin for a haircut. I was a bit nervous since this was a haircut correction and I had never been there, but Erin was EXCELLENT! Carrie did a fab job on my hair. I have LOTS, I mean LOTS of hair and most stylists are immediately overwhelmed by it and she did a fantastic job on my long layers, got exactly the hair style I wanted and she achieved the exact same color when I asked for caramel ribbons on my hair. She is worth every penny! I'm sad I moved out of Jax and wish I would have found her sooner. You won't be disappointed she is super professional, really listens and pays attention to what you want. She was super patient and detailed to make sure the job was done perfectly!! I would give her 6 stars if I could. read more

What an awful experience. Went for a blow out for my son's wedding. Vision was me, my mom, sister and daughter enjoying having our hair done together. Reality was three of us were done by one person. Took forever and by the time it was my turn I didn't have time to get a blow out. Stylist didn't know how to do simple hair styles. Felt like we were at a beauty school not a professional salon. Probably okay place but would not depend on them if it is a special occasion. read more

Nutshell: I have a bald spot and you can see my scalp from several angles. Spoke to an assistant manager but once I advised them of the problem, no one would return my phone calls. They insisted on only giving me store credit and would not refund my money unless the store manager saw me. I stopped by the next day and the elusive store manager who didn't return my call the day before would not come out of her meeting to see me. They were very snotty to me. Here is the complete story: I went to Sutra on 24 June 09 and had a 4:15 appointment. I asked for shorter hair. The stylist texturized my fine hair too much and too close to the scalp and you can now see my scalp from several angles. I couldn't see it because it was in the back, even with the handheld mirror I was given, so I left content. When I got home, my mom asked for pictures of my new haircut from the trendy salon so I took some. When I loaded them onto the computer I was shocked to see my shiny white scalp in several pictures. I tried arranging my hair differently and then washing it and letting it air dry but additional pictures still showed my scalp. I called 25 June to advise them of the problem and ask for a refund, since no hair cut can fix the problem b/c it's already too thin and short. Alyssa requested that I email the pictures and that IT WOULD BE NO PROBLEM to issue a refund and also give me suggestions on how to cover up the spot. She said Babs, the manager, would call me that afternoon as well. I never heard from anyone and got no reply to my email. On 26 June in the morning I called again and was told Alyssa and Babs were busy but that someone would return my phone call. After no call back, I called again in the afternoon and insisted that I just be issued a refund but they said they could not do it because they can't run a business on email pictures. I offered to stop by because I was in the area but was told that they were too busy and I'd have to come back another day. I stopped by anyways and was told that they could not issue a refund unless the manager saw me but she was in a store meeting and could not take 5 seconds to come out. If there was a store meeting than why were all the stylists out in front? Alyssa kept telling me I could have store credit but I reminded her that I already got a bad haircut and wanted nothing to do with the salon. She said repeatedly that they "tried to work with me" and I maintained that I should not have to make a 3rd special trip to a salon when it was that salon that made a mistake. I was also told that Babs' time was very important and she had important things to do and it reminded me of the Rodeo drive shopping scene in "Pretty Woman." My time is important too and I should not have to make a special trip to prove I have a bald spot when there are five stylists standing there who could look at my hair. Apparently you can't run a business that way, but I guess it's okay to run a business based on bald spots and poor customer service. read more

Meghan is wonderful! I'm pretty picky when it comes to my blonde and she's always done a fab job! I hadn't gotten my hair done in a looong time and it was in need of some major TLC. after reading all the great reviews about Sutra I went a head and made an appointment. The sweet girl who answered the phone put me with Jackie for my appointment. Where I previously lived I had been to going to the same person for years so I was super nervous to try someone new. But Jackie blew me away! She was amazing and her and the other girls in the salon made me feel special and like a queen. They even offered me champagne! Jackie gave me the most gorgeous blonde highlights and I get compliments on my hair from everyone. I have very long hair and a ton of it so it was an all day process but she remained patient and kind throughout the whole thing and I could not be happier. Sutras prices aren't too painful either compared to other local places. Definitely book Jackie if you're getting color, a treatment, or just want a new look. She's the bomb. read more

Not one, but 2 terrible experiences at Sutra. I went in about 8 weeks ago and showed Allison a picture of exactly the color I wanted, which was auburn w/ caramel highlights. It came out blonde. She stated that she didn't realize how fast my hair would lift so since it didn't look "bad", I gavd her another shot. Showed her the same picture and guess what, I now look like Elvira. It's not the least bit auburn. It's espresso w blonde streaks and looks TERRIBLE. Babs was at least kind enough not to make me pay for it, but I'd steer clear of Allison on coloring. read more

Carrie Fox is amazing! I went in with bad color done at another salon and wasn't even sure if it could be fixed. I'm beyond happy with my hair and am so glad I found her! She took so much time with my hair and even fit me into her schedule by staying later. I'm so glad she took the time to fix my hair and give me exactly the look I wanted! The salon itself is also the nicest I've been to. Everyone is really nice and patient. They listen to make sure they are able to give you the hairstyle you want and I felt pampered the whole time I was there-from the paraffin wax hand treatment to the latte they made me!
