We asked for quote on a new tankless water heater. They were very responsive, on-time, and the technician was friendly. However, the price quoted was extremely high and not at all competitive. They quoted the Navien 240S for ~$4500 installed. We looked online and found that we could purchase this exact model water heater for ~$1300. We felt that $3200 for an install that they said would take 4-6 hours was unfair. We requested a quote from another plumber we've worked with in the past, and the installed cost was $3200. read more

There was a strange noise coming from the pipes after toilets were flushed that I thought might require some work but I was informed that it was purely a preference issue. After comparing prices with several other plumbers in the area, Phend really turned out to be one of the most affordable companies to work with. I still have a bit of a sour taste in my mouth from being charged $125 for the angle stops (hence the 4-star rating), but the disconnect/reconnect fees were very much in line with competitors. They were quick to send out technicians and the work was quality. The owner was patient with me (even though I wrote a less-than-flattering review initially) and was very cool about giving me a discount on the reconnect job. I called Phend Plumbing after having one of their local competitors out to assess a leak in my supply line. The first company came out at the direction of AHS home warranty, after explaining that the leak wasn't covered (which was legit) they estimated the repair to cost between $700-$900. After I spoke with their tech, I got the feeling that they were trying to capitalize on my denied claim. I immediately got on Yelp, checked out reviews on the 'other guys' and immediately confirmed my suspicions. This is where Phend comes in... After reading several of their 5-star reviews on Yelp I called, spoke with their assistant and within 24 hours the repair tech Clint showed up and repaired the leak within an hour! I had a kitchen drain that kept backing up. Throughout the week, (#workingmom) I checked the p-trap, tried snaking the drain myself multiple times with multiple snakes, and then called a family friend to try to clear it. When he couldn't clear the drain, he recommended Pete Phend and Phend Plumbing. I gave them a call that day (Sunday) hoping to make an appointment for the next day or two. The woman who answered was very professional, extremely empathetic, and well-organized. After asking if I needed immediate service (I said it wasn't necessary and it could wait until normal business hours), she said someone would call me when the office was open on Monday. Within the hour, Pete called to confirm I did not need immediate service (if I did, he said he could have someone over within the hour), and I replied that we could wait. While I was on the phone with him, he checked the schedule and we made an appointment for the next day. On Monday, I got a call from Gino who said he was running early and was about 15 minutes away (I had already told them I was working from home and available all day). When he arrived, he was friendly and patiently listened to what previous attempts I had made. He quoted me a reasonable price and was able to go straight to the outside access. He got to work and managed to pull some polyester fill out from the drain (don't ask me how it got down there...). He tested the drain, and when it was all clear, he didn't try to upsell me--I paid the exact price he quoted. He sent me an email invoice and was in and out of the house in 33 minutes. We are trying to sell a 2-story quadplex apartment unit... I get a text message at 6:30 am from one of the downstairs tenants that water is leaking through their vent from upstairs. Really? Who wants to get this news? I call one guy and he isn't available.. then I call the realtor selling unit and he tells me to call Pete Phend and that he's "awesome"... uh huh... we'll see. So I call and explain the problem. He indicates he or Jesse would be onsite by noon (3 hour response time) and asks if that is acceptable. I tell him it is and hope to see by 4pm ;) They call when they are 1 hour out and are onsite by noon (very nice!) Jesse indicates he will need to cut a 2 foot hole in the ceiling and tells me he thinks it will be a drainage issue and a not a burst pipe issue. I authorize him to cut the hole and sure enough... the toilet seal from upstairs is out of whack and the bolts are loose and flushed water is going over the wax ring (I won't give any more details about the flushed water ;) He tells me what it'll cost to fix and that he can do it right now if I authorize. I do and within a hour everything is fixed. Water is back on... Tenants are happy and the pocketbook is lighter... but only a little lighter... it was a VERY FAIR and reasonable price.
