In early 2025 I demoed three different skis. I was told the price of the demo rentals would be deducted from the price if I purchased a pair. After paying $240 for three demos I decided on a pair to buy. Unfortunately, by that time they were out of stock on the pair I wanted. I was told they would get them in the fall. Late in the fall I called to ask if they had them in stock. They said yes. I said great. I will come in and buy them. " I get $240 off of the purchase price, right?" They said wrong! That was only for last year's models. I explained that last year's model I wanted to buy was out of stock and I was told you would have them in the fall. They refused to honor the deal. Btw, my wife and I both bought our ski boots here and we are happy with them. The young guys here that work the floor are great. The decision not to honor the discount came from management. I need to respond to Elizabeths one star rating. Our family has patronized phD for years; we have gotten great advice and warranty service on skis, boots, eyewear and clothing. They never oversell a d they stand behind their products. Recently I had to replace my bindings and they tuned the skis for free. My Smith goggle Lenses failed and they replaced the pair. My wife diid multiple demos at their advice and ended up with a great pair of Great Joys. Not condescending; businesslike, professional and available 7 days a week. Would have left a 5 after just buying the boots and having them fitted, the process was low key, educational and an example of what happens when people actually know and love what they do and care that the person they're serving receives the best possible product for the best possible experience. Our group came in wearing masks and my six year old was in the process of putting his on when we were greeted with, "Put your fucking masks on or get the fuck out of here" by the old man. This was in front of 4 children. Will NOT be back! He also did not listen to what we wanted. He's the expert, he knows all. After seeing some of what was written, I had to add my two cents. I've bought skis, boots, bindings, and had them mount bindings on skis not purchased there. Nothing but positive to say. They are professional and friendly as can be. When I call, it's on a first name basis. As far as I'm concerned, they're the best outfit in the valley. I moved here in 1996, and wouldn't trust anyone else. PhD is legit, and when people mention Stu, understand how long he's been there, which is a long time. I looked online this morning for the hours at Ph.D Skis and noticed the Yelp review. After reading them I was compelled to submit my own. I have been a regular customer for 5 years - since I moved to Bozeman. I have bought skis and other gear for nearly every member of my family. While I occasionally purchase gear at some of the chain stores I absolutely consider Ph.D skis to have the most knowledgeable owner/staff group in town. I also had a warranty situation a year or so ago and was blown away by how well it was handled. Kevin put my daughter in a new set of skis at a great price - so she could stay "on the snow" while her other skis were sent away. These were skis that, at the time, were all the rage and, given that it was in season, he could have sold them for more. The ski manufacturer sent a new replacement for the warrantied skis and Kevin worked out a very fair trade for high end boots and other gear. This was way above and beyond. As with any big purchase readers of this review should do their own due diligence. In the end i think you will be more than pleased with Ph. D Skis! read more

This ski shop is amazing! I really needed some expertise with buying boots and proper boot fitting. Our friend recommended we try PhD skis as they provide custom boot fitting services. I have been in agony in my current ski boots and was in desperate need of help. My husband and I walked into PhD Skis on a Saturday morning and we hit the jackpot with Megan. She was amazing to work with and her ski equipment knowledge is super excellent. We decided that Technica Cochise boots fit my feet the best and I purchased them at a great price. Now onto the custom boot fitting! Toe molds, hot spots and liner molds commenced and after an hour and a half I had custom fitted boots. Yeah! We cannot say enough about our experience here at PhD Skis and highly recommend them. If you purchase boots at PhD Skis, the custom boot fitting is included. This is an awesome deal! Thanks Megan and thanks PhD Skis!! Looking forward to skiing without pain! (PS - follow ups are included too! I brought a pair of skis in to get a CAST touring system mounted on them last year. The tech said they could work with those. So I waited, three weeks, and called, and called. And finally two days before I had to leave for a ski trip (that I needed those skis for) I came in and they told me they couldn't finish the job. They had the skis half mounted and told me they didn't have the right jig for it. Cool, so not only did they not ever call me and tell me this, I now have no skis for a trip I'm leaving for tomorrow. But it gets worse. When I brought the skis into another tech, he showed me that they had mounted the parts wrong. They were not properly aligned. As in they fucking winged it, and my bindings were not straight. Since this was the second time the skis were mounted, it effectively ruined the skis. I didn't want to mount them a third time, and I didn't have the bindings from the first mount. I bought a pair of brand new skis from PHD, and a pair of brand new bindings from them that year. A decent customer I'd say. And their response? We won't charge you for the mount. Wow. Thanks fellas! You won't charge me for the mount you didn't finish and that you mounted improperly of what work you did do. Why is it so hard to find decent customer service? Won't be back. read more

Had a pair of cork foot beds made for my Tecnica 9.3's. The first time skiing them, my lower foot went numb. I pulled the foot bed out and noticed there were full toe imprints. There was also an incredible amount of volume in the heal. Not optimal in a race boot. This is not normal for foot beds. I took them back in. The tech tried to warm the cork up again to flatten the toe box out. He was able to reduce the ridges, but still not flat. Foot still was in massive numb pain. Went in and talked to the owner about getting a refund, since I had another pair made by a different shop... he said they don't do refunds. I would have to schedule another appointment to have another pair made (This foot bed was spot on first time out). WHAT??? I don't want another pair made. You don't know how to make foot beds! I just want a refund!!!! read more
