Late in the fall I called to ask if they had them in stock. They said yes. I said great. I will come in and buy them. " I get $240 off of the purchase price, right?" They said wrong! That was only for last year's models. I explained that last year's model I wanted to buy was out of stock and I was told you would have them in the fall. They refused to honor the deal. Btw, my wife and I both bought our ski boots here and we are happy with them. The young guys here that work the floor are great. The decision not to honor the discount came from management. I will never shop here again.

He was beyond accommodating and put me on a pair of stockli skis. I skied about half a day And broke my boot. Had to be transported back to the bottom via snowmobile. Garret set me up immediately and we were off to ski the rest of the day. I've worked in ski resorts and know how many employees get burned out or develop bad attitudes. Not with this establishment. Top notch in both locations.

After five days skiing I can say these are the best fit I've ever had. It took a while but I appreciated the attention to detail. I also got to see them operate for a while. They were happy to recommend gear that they didn't stock. They even sized a few kids for free and directed the parents on what to buy off of a website. This is a truly classy place. You need an appointment but it was like the next day. While they are very willing to help you save a buck, they were far from cheap, but I'd argue worth it. I've had "professional" boot fittings on 3 prior occasions and this was the first time I felt like I actually learned something, no shit.

Went to exchange a parka for a different size and was literally just left at the counter waiting for the gal to come back and help me but she never did. I had to find an employee to help me find the right size. They weren't even busy at the time. My second visit went a lot better. Needed some new Keens for getting around since my old ones had zero tread on the bottom. Found exactly what I needed and was happy with that. I then went over to the bike department to get some new tires for my e-bike but was disappointed in the selection and never found what I needed. The prices are comparable to all the other REI stores.

TLDR: I would hesitate to purchase anything from this shop given that they do not stand behind their products (I notice another reviewer had a similar issue). Imagine not having a pair of skis, or in my case gloves, for a month of your season. I would also recommend checking your credit card for double charges, particular with respect to rentals, which I was lucky to catch. I purchased a pair of gloves and almost immediately found that a seem was ripped. When I attempted to return the gloves the following day, I was told it was going to be a warranty issue and they couldn't take them back. They would have to warranty it. I even offered to just have the gloves fixed myself if they waived a $25 day of boot rentals (they declined and I was actually double charged instead...). I was annoyed but trusted they would sort it all out so I went with it. It took me several follow ups, and waiting almost a month to find that they had finally been warrantied. But wait, Uphill had the gloves dispatched to their own store, knowing the whole time that I also live out of town. With that additional error, it was going to be an additional $15 fee to ship to me and a further delay. This feels very deliberate as it was at this point that they finally offered a refund...almost a month later? Their response says it all: "- most dealers request that we make sure that they will process the warranty before we issue new product or a refund...so that dealers like us aren't left with products that are neither resell-able or warranty-able. " As my wife (who works in retail) pointed out, now that they have a new pair of gloves they can sell, of course they can refund me - they took no risk that the gloves wouldn't be warrantied. They let me carry all of that risk and then in the end made sure they were the ones who got to keep the new gloves. Dear Management: There is no good company on earth that would ever treat their customers out like this. I would love for a store like yours to be a success, but you need to look out for us the customer. This experience feels so dirty - any number of actions on your part could have made it feel like a good experience, and you would have received a great review instead of this. Dear Potential Customer: You're a recent MSU grad looking to celebrate, an out of towner who needs some gear for a fun adventure, or just an average guy or gal looking to get into backcountry skiing. Picture yourself excitedly buying a $1,500 dollar pair of skis from a cool store and then having no support the second the money has left your account - look what they did for me over a $100 item, imagine something big ticket. I just can't say I'd recommend making that purchase here.

Prior to calling the shop I emailed them about a week ago asking if they can offer a small discount on some brakes. Haven't heard from them so I decided to give them a call. It was difficult not reaching anyone anytime of day that I called. However, after an unforgettable conversation with a gentleman, I decided to rate this business and give it an honest review. I spoke with a someone on the phone and he was an incredible jerk who was not pleasent to talk to. I expected a 'wizard' to be more magical and persuasive in their arguments. After introducing myself and saying that I was looking for a discount on some brakes, he explained that it was cheap and, "we offer free shipping". I explained that there was someone local in my area that offered these cheaper. After learning that he wouldn't lower the price, I decided that this was a dude that didn't deserve my money not only because I didn't want to pay the price but also because I could get it from someone much nicer. There's a lot of attitude on his end and after I said, "Thanks for everything, tho" he gives me a "Bye" that reeked of entitlement and made be feel belittled. Wish I could have recorded this conversation for y'all to hear. I'm not a big fan of people from Montana especially if they treated all callers and potential customers like this.
