It's not a polished place, but that's why I like it. The employees are laid back and helpful. They're not going to wine and dine you to buy something, but they're down to earth and seem like people you'd go skiing with or whatever choice recreational activity. If you're looking for "vintage" Patagucci to drive up to Hyalite, walk ten steps from the car and take #adventure shots for your instagram feed and head back to town, then you'll probably find some sweet duds here for that. AND, if you're actually going further than your car, you'll find great used gear that won't cost you an arm and a leg.

Okay, this is a longer one but as an avid thrifter and experienced (and fair) reseller myself, I…read morethink that this place necessitates a particular conversation. My thoughts- I've stopped into Second Wind a few times over the years in search of gear/clothing for personal use, but have consistently walked away disappointed if not empty-handed because their pricing is exorbitant and stupidly inflated, and I have no shame in using that sort of verbiage. An example from today that caught me so off guard I did some research, subsequently leading me to writing this review- a heavily used & visibly stained/faded Patagonia vest listed at $115, which is $16 less than the retail price on Patagonia's own website ($131). In my opinion and personal experience, this is not an isolated case- a lot of their merchandise is significantly worn, sometimes even dirty, and still priced like it's barely been used. While I did find and purchase a cute pair of pants that were reasonably priced and in good shape today, it unfortunately doesn't negate the general pattern of overpricing. Selling gear in highly used and rough condition for near-retail prices undermines the whole point of secondhand shopping and if we're being honest, many locals have access to outdoor industry discounts that include the benefit of full warranties. Trying to resell deeply used gear at near-retail prices just feels exploitative in that context. Even online secondhand platforms like Depop tend to be far more equitably priced and transparent about quality. I'm all for supporting secondhand and local businesses, but not when it starts to feel greedy and borderline shady. Pricing like this erodes trust and defeats the purpose of resale. There are more transparent, affordable, and community-minded options out there-- please shop around.

It seems like some…read moreshops are very nice and generous, which is very much needed in these tough times, but others come across as complete snobs. Prior to calling the shop I emailed them about a week ago asking if they can offer a small discount on some brakes. Haven't heard from them so I decided to give them a call. It was difficult not reaching anyone anytime of day that I called. However, after an unforgettable conversation with a gentleman, I decided to rate this business and give it an honest review. I spoke with a someone on the phone and he was an incredible jerk who was not pleasent to talk to. I expected a 'wizard' to be more magical and persuasive in their arguments. After introducing myself and saying that I was looking for a discount on some brakes, he explained that it was cheap and, "we offer free shipping". I explained that there was someone local in my area that offered these cheaper. After learning that he wouldn't lower the price, I decided that this was a dude that didn't deserve my money not only because I didn't want to pay the price but also because I could get it from someone much nicer. There's a lot of attitude on his end and after I said, "Thanks for everything, tho" he gives me a "Bye" that reeked of entitlement and made be feel belittled. Wish I could have recorded this conversation for y'all to hear. I'm not a big fan of people from Montana especially if they treated all callers and potential customers like this. PS: If you made it this far, thanks for hearing me out on this review. The store hasn't paid Yelp to remove this yet.
