I tried 3 different services here (Serenity Beauty Lounge), first was the pedicure (VolcanoSpa 50.00), the massage was great, but the rest was lacking. Second was a new set of acrylic's with gel polish , I requested a very simple design and was very disappointed. I went back for a fill and requested a different technician and ended up with poorly filed and the worst "Cat eye" (as in non existent) polish. As I was paying I mentioned that I would not be coming back and the person at the reception desk said ok. Never asked why, nothing. I have been to many places in Bellingham for hair and nails but Serenity Beauty Lounge is my new home for pampering. Sarah is super sweet and friendly and she welcomes you with open arms and a smile. The ladies that have done my nails there are gentle, quick and highly skilled in different combinations of colors or nail art- very talented! My gel manicures last over three weeks in tip top shape. My fiancé and I love our couple time for manicures and pedicures and have now become "regulars" there. Lena does both of our haircuts and styles and I have gotten so many compliments on the balayage she did for me. Long story short ! I have been very disappointed when comes to nails places . Bad actitud, they do what they want , don't get the design that I ask or they have the nerve to laugh about my nails and say very rude comments, or chattering in other languages which feels uncomfortable. I came to Phaze 2 Nails whit very low expectations . BUT OMG ! What a surprise !! My visit was very pleasant , I had a good time , feel good, my nails came out beautiful which (I'm surprise other places I hate the result immediately) but not this time I think it was money we'll spend ... Whenever I go to get a pedicure and gel polish manicure, I set aside 2 hours of my day. If it takes less than that, awesome. I'm not going to fly into some salon on a whim and then get pissed off when they are busy or take their time doing my services. Phaze2 is not known for cranking out mani after pedi. They take their time, they don't rush and in my mind, it is SO worth it. Brandy is amazing. She is super sweet and pays all the attention to details. My nails are always perfect and last for a solid 3.5 weeks after a gel polish manicure. The most I have ever paid was $60 and that was for a gel mani and pedi with extra detail added to my fingernails. I have zero complaints. read more

Scheduled pedi and mani with girlfriend here and was looking forward to a relaxing time. I have to say we felt very rushed to quickly pick a polish and they had us in and out as quick as could be. I was hesitant to put on my shoes but they said it was fine. Of course I noticed later my pedi was smudged . I think the thing that bothers me most and will keep me from coming back is that the ladies are somewhat rude because they talk Vietnamese loudly amongst themselves and seem to tune their customers out. Called ahead for an appt, was told yes they could do 3 pedicures and manicures. 2 of us were completely done before the third was even started.. they just let her sit in the water while we were worked on. The women doing our manicures were rude and cut 3 of my fingers..no apology. The place is very very dirty, very dusty and they just left the dead skin from peoples feet on the floor. So my friend and I went in two days ago to get a gel color change. Things were going ok I guess untill the lady started to shave my nail almost all the down/ off. I had wonderful thick long nails untill she got ahold of me. She finished up and even with the many layers of gel my nails were so flimsy. I got home and cried. Today one of my nails broke while I was running my fingers through my hair....She barely took any time with me and did not even try and have a conversation. I will never come back. I've been here many times b/c my MIL likes to go here. I don't say this lightly, but have witnessed 5+ times, kinda seem racist. If you're with a non-ethnic crew, forget about it. Sometimes you'll get a decent pedi, but mani - forget it. I don't have fake nails and they electric sanded them, which took 2+ months to grow normally again. You may get leg massage, you may not. You may get decent paint job, you may not. You may wait 2 minutes, you may wait half hour - appointment or not. I don't see any sanitizing happening. Arrived in the late afternoon as a walk-in after having left a nearby salon and asked if they had time for a full set of nails. Hair stylist friendly and accommadating (already an imrprovement over previous experience elsewhere), excused herself to her client, and asked nail tech. I was invited to the station. Nail Tech asked me a few pertinent questions and provided excellent pain free service. Price is good, service is nice. I do have an issue with nail techs lounging in pedi chairs but I've seen worse things. When I noticed my crystals were messed up, I asked the nail tech to fix them and she didn't want to. she had already struggled for 10 minutes to put a few on and even had a 2nd lady help her... So unfortunately I've had a really bad experience here. First of all the salon is chaos. Sometimes there is no receptionist at the front desk and the stylists go back and forth between the client and answering phone calls. It is very unprofessionally run. The manicures and pedicures are just as everywhere else in Bellingham is, nothing special here. They also use that gross razor-like thing to shave off the dead skin off your heels and DO NOT change it in between clients! That is so unsanitary and gross. That's the last time I go there. I was specifically looking for a salon that speaks fluent English and was assured they communicate effectively. This was not the case. I asked her NOT to clip my cuticles but she did it anyway. I asked her NOT to cut my nails short but she did it anyway. In addition, the salon tech was on her cell phone texting and/or speaking on her phone the entire time and her phone was sounding off. I used to go here in high school and had a decent experience so I thought I would try it again. Apparently, this place doesn't get better with time. I came in here for an acrylic fill and gel polish. I made the mistake of going here 3 days before my wedding. I woke up the next day to have the polish chipped on my index finger. The next day even more fingers had chipped. I made an appointment and show up and they didn't save a station for me. I've been sitting here for 45 minutes passed my appointment time.

Unfortunately my nails had to be redone twice in 2 days! I had acrylics done, and had to ask the person to use the drill for my real nails underneath. The gel polish peeled the next day. I had 5 nails redone 2 days later, and then they started peeling again within days. The technicians do a good job, but the light to dry the nails is really old, and didn't set the polish correctly. I got a fill 5 days ago from them and with in two days my nails chipped so I got them "fixed" and then not even 2 hours of getting them "fixed" they chipped again. And this is supposed to be gel. More like "Phaze you out!" This place has been hit or miss in the past but this was and will be my last visit. I made an appointment for 4, for me and my bridal party the day before my wedding. They were not prepared for us in the least bit. I'm not sure if they took on too many walk-ins or overbooked themselves? One of my bridesmaids was about 10 minutes behind and they wouldn't do her nails, they turned her away!! My other two bridesmaids sat in the pedicure chairs for about an hour waiting for their pedicures. My nails were mediocre at best, the stones that were glued on fell off before the ceremony (less than 24 hours). One of my bridesmaids hated her manicure and had it re-done else where. It took forever for the 3 of us to have our mani-pedis and it really was not how I expected to be treated in preparation for my big day. I made the reservations about a month in advance expecting 4 techs to complete our pedicures during the same time period and move onto our manicures in a relatively timely manner so we could sit next to each other and gossip in English. I wish I would have gone somewhere else. I returned a couple weeks later as a walk-in and they wouldn't take me, they told me to come back in a couple hours...I mentioned how upsetting that was since they turned one of my bridesmaids away when she had a SCHEDULED appointment. The gal told me I should have discussed that when I was in for my bridal appointment. I told her I would never be back.
