Let me say, the color and polish on my nails is lovely. However, I have never had my skin nicked so many times during cuticle care, ever. I was confused about which color I had chosen (my fault), and there was clearly some annoyance on the part of the staff that I asked a question about it. They also reused items (nail files, buffers, etc.) which I did not love. The nail technicians little plastic box had various tools and instruments all thrown in together. I got a deluxe manicure, and it included a desultory massage I could have just as easily done myself. Finally, the attitude of the staff did not put me at ease. On the other side of the salon, where there were no customers, it sounded like there was a party going on, but it was just staff members. I came home for the weekend and took my mom here for a little Mother's Day treat. We both got deluxe pedicures for $50. I grew up in Bellingham but never knew about this place! It was a very big space and everything was super clean. My mom and I loved our pedicures and everyone was super nice as well. Next time I'm in town I would definitely plan to go again. Tiffany does my gel nails and she always kills it! She brings my vision to life every time! Recently took my niece in for her birthday pedicure and manicure and Chloe did her nails, she was so sweet and gentle with my niece and did amazing nail art somehow bringing together my nieces cowgirl kitty design request. Even when customers come in and are in my opinion very rude and disrespectful the employees at Royal Nail Lounge always handle it with grace and kindness. I recently had a pedicure here and the person who did my pedicure seemed like she was in a hurry for whatever reason. She was very rough during the whole process, and with using a tool on my right toe, it was quite painful. There wasn't any kind of rough skin what so ever around either one of my toes, so I don't understand why she had to be so rough! When the tech was massaging my legs, she was quite rough as well, and doing it quickly. I only wanted to have a nice and relaxing pedicure for my birthday, but instead had a very bad experience! I should have a a much better pedicure, which cost $50. In spite of it all, I still left a tip that was well over 20%. I won't ever go back to Royal Nails!! read more

I had a great deluxe pedicure by Lulu!! I've been looking for a new place after the Chrysalis closed. And I've been to several around Bellingham that are not at this level. From the start I was able to DM for a 'confirmed appointment', which means you get your pedicure person and she is not waiting on others or walk ins or the cash register which is a bonus for a germaphobe like me! The place is open, light and bright and sunny and sparkling clean. The files and scrubber came out of a package, so not reused, another bonus. They do use the plastic liner in the bowl which is easy cleanup for the shop. Everyone was super friendly who worked there. They had a big tv with cooking shows and there was a low level of music. Nice big chairs with massage if you prefer. One hour appt with massage and polish was so much better than my last 2 places I've been by far. I will definitely be going back in a few weeks and hope to get on a schedule! read more

I requested a certain finish on my nails (velvet), and the technician said she understood, but they turned out completely different (chrome). Also, the finish was lumpy and the shape not great. I had an appointment to get a fill today. The person working on my nails was completely distracted the entire time answering the phone and filling out the calendar. Literally every 1-2 minutes. He would often get up and take off for a few minutes and come back. He did a terrible job on my fingernails which is no surprise given the level of distraction and interruptions and his obvious attempt to do the quickest job possible. I couldn't even stay to have them painted as I ran out of time. At least 15 minutes of the bill was spent with him doing other things. No goodbye no thank you. Nothing. Horrible horrible experience. I will never go back. I'm going somewhere else later today to have them removed as they look terrible. I don't even want to go in there. Absolutely rude and unprofessional. Went here for mani and pedi. Of course they try to upsell like all salons. But the girl I had, who was young and curvy, did some weird hitting my legs massage with her knuckles as if she has arthritis or hands r tired. So weird. Hubby getting pedi too and his lady was friendly and did normal massage. My lady also did not talk to me at all. Just spoke to neighboring coworkers in her own language. She kept shaking her head at me when I wasn't relaxed with toes or fingers. Can't help it. Anyways, she also did not know how to do ombré. Someone else had to use spray gun for that. Nails turned out fine. But they charge $15 for gel polish on toes!! That seems steep. Should start doing my own nails. Got acrylics. Pretty good tho. Was happy. Just not happy with the girl I had. This used to be the best place for many years. Not anymore. Poor quality. I went in for a pedicure and the lady only cut my toe nails and painted them and called that a pedicure. No cuticle cutting, no sanding of my feet, no leg scrub as before, no massage. I had a huge callous and she didn't sand it down as usual and when I asked her to do it, she did a poor job and said that I would have to pay $ 5 extra if I wanted more. I complained, but the woman simply gaslighted me. So disrespectful. Get an itemized bill. Our bill was much larger than usual. Sad how money js the focus there now. Not customer service. read more
