Completed nails!

My daughter, mother, and I went for mani-pedis. I hadn't been there before and was pleasantly surprised by the quality of service--definitely more of a spa experience than your regular nail salon. Pedicure came with a paraffin wax treatment and hot stone massage. My daughter really, really wanted acrylic nails and I told her no, because I'd only made an appointment for the basic service, but they were easily able to accommodate her. The staff was super friendly and professional--we'll definitely be going back!

BEST PEDICURE EVER!! Thank you Tina for your spa pedicure that includes upon arrival homemade egg rostrawberries, juice, wine, or tea, and very kind professional service! My pedicure was much more than I expected with hot stone massage and a clay masque with heated gel for my feet. Massage chair was so perfect and your new salon on King Street is light, airy, and fun.

First re-paint

I went in for a gel color change. The first color change was incredibly sloppy. They offered to re-paint them. I made an appointment for the re-paint. When I arrived, the young lady working argued with me about what time my appointment was...then rather rudely told me she guessed she could do it. Another sloppy job. She filed them crooked and lost the almond shape. The polish is thick and bumpy. One of my nails is barely painted at all. I am disappointed and would not recommend this nail salon.

This is a tough one. This was my first time here and am in search of finding a new nail salon. If I could rate solely on service, it would be a 5. I was acknowledged and greeted when I arrived for my appointed, offered water, wine, or mimosa and snack plate, and the staff seemed very nice. If I had to rate solely on quality, it would be a 3. I got a pedicure and a back fill. A pedicure is only offered to be a Deluxe Pedicure and is $40. It felt nice, but no massage, seemed rushed, and wasn't thrilled with the paint job. To me, it wasn't worth it and over priced. Also, if you want a design, it's $7. Too expensive to me. The back fill was $40 and my nails are okay, not overly impressed, but like them. Walking out paying $80, plus tip......not sure this is the place for me. Maybe I'm too cheap? I'm used to $25 pedicures, $35 fills, lined pedicure tubs, and this seemed overpriced for the quality. But, they were friendly and nice! Still looking for a nail salon!

Polish isn't on whole nail, edges and bottom portion weren't painted

I called and made an appt. for 2:30. Showed up ten minutes before and sat in the waiting area. Salon was clean and was given an egg roll and fruit while I waited. Around 2:30, three others walked in for their 2:30 appointment. It was obvious they forgot they had booked them but proceeded to help them immediately. I waited for another 20-30 minutes before they brought me to the table and continued to soak my nails for another 15 minutes. I saw the girl next to me had wine and they offered her a refill but didn't bother to check if I would like anything. After soaking they asked if I wanted to pick out the color and brought over the color swatches. Obviously just killing time until someone was available to do my nails. My nail lady was nice and apologized for the wait. She shaped my nails and cleaned them up. I was happy with her work. Then another woman came over to paint my nails. She didn't polish the edges or bottom of my nail, making it look as though they were already grown out. She seemed very rushed and really didn't pay attention to the gaps on the sides missing polish. I then got a hand massage and hot wax, which was nice. It was $35 dollars for a gel manicure. Maybe it was just my nail technician who did a poor job, some of the other girls had beautiful nails that I could see. I may have just come on a busy day but everything all together left me disappointed.

What I wanted

If I could give 0 stars I would. I asked for (1st)) and got (2nd pic) I asked them I was unhappy with what I got done and wanted them to be removed. They said I couldn't get them removed and still had to pay 60 for the full set. I've never heard that one before. I paid 70. Not including tip.Extremely over priced. I'm not coming back and do not recommend. STAY AWAY!!

Beautiful color and shape. I was very pleased that someone took the time to listen to what I wanted and nailed it, literally! The service was excellent and the woman who helped me was so professional and kind. Her name was Mary. Also, after she finished my nails she got up and came behind me and gave me a little massage on my neck, back, and shoulders. I was impressed. Best Service I've ever had. Thank you, Mary! I love my nails! #NailedByMary

Gel polish from Perfect 10 in Bellingham, bottom left shows the aftermath of the gel bubble that burst the same night I got it done.

My mani pedi didn't even last through the night. I had to clean up a lot of gel polish on my skin right after the appointment, including literally clipping it off my toes with nail clippers. I noticed that the gel was really lumpy but I figured "it's black, no one will notice." Turns out the lumpy-ness was from air bubbles just waiting to burst like a blister. Which is what happened to my big toe less than 12 hours later. Also my right big toe was trimmed *really* hardcore. No one has ever trimmed my toenail down that far or at that angle before. It's now red and swollen and it feels like the rough line at the edge is digging into my skin. I've gotten less than stellar nail work done in my life but this is unacceptable. Update: it's been a couple days and every fingernail is chipping and one toenail is completely polish-less because it just fell off in the shower.

Great color. Meticulous job.
Julie S.

Very thorough and thoughtful deluxe pedicure. The leg massage was just right pressure and comfort. Lots of colors to choose from and great ambiance. Bring friends and enjoy small snacks and drinks provided.

The plate was even fuller.. I couldn't stop myself ..had to taste before taking pictures;) very tasty!

Yes! It's true!! Perfect 10 is a perfect 10 . I am a reformer nail biter and cannot polish my own nails (just never learned) so if I want my nails to look decent, I am dependent on getting a manicure..make that a gel manicure. I have no right to be as particular as I am (since I can't do it myself) but little imperfections bother me.. uneven filing, less than perfect polish (if you are like me you know what I mean). Perfect 10 every one who walks through the door is treated as a welcome guest. You are offered something to drink and eat (every time!) This place is spacious and sparkling clean and peaceful too. My lady her name is "Nut" and I am probably spelling it wrong but she is obviously a perfectionist as my nails are perfect in every way. I had to wait a short while but I didn't have an appointment and worth the wait. I will definitely be back!!!

Short thick stubby nails (supposed to be stilleto) and my swollen hurting pointer finger.

Upon arriving for my appointment yesterday, I neglected to completely latch the baby gate (which serves as the door to the establishment). I thought I closed it all the way, but it turns out, the latch did not actually click into place. The mother reprimanded me for this in front of another customer. She told me that I need to make sure the gate is closed completely because they have two dogs in there and I can't let them out. Pretty much verbatim and in an annoyed tone. She actually went out of her way to correct me on this matter-- after arriving I went immediately to the bathroom and she waited for me to finish, then stopped cutting her client's hair and followed me to the waiting area to deliver the reprimand. I have never left the door open before; therefore I was not known as some kind of repeat offender, habitually conspiring to release the hounds. I did in fact close the gate behind me, it just didn't latch, which should have lead mother to assume my intentions were based in good faith. I have been coming to this establishment multiple times over the last year (every 3-6 weeks) and spending $60-75 each time. From a purely customer service standpoint, she should have remembered that I'm a steady, well-paying customer, quietly latched the gate behind me, and gone about her day. I didn't realize that I would be visiting a petting zoo while getting my hoo-ha waxed. I don't mind there being dogs there, but I certainly don't want to be held accountable for their safekeeping. The mother has chosen to bring dogs to her place of business (I'm not sure but this could be a health violation based on the nature of the business?) and therefore it is HER responsibility, not mine, to ensure her dogs don't get out. She will note I left my dog at home, and did not go about my day expecting others to be responsible for his safe-keeping. I was made to feel uncomfortable, as though I'd done wrong, and when someone spends a lot of money at an establishment, they don't want to leave with a negative feeling. So even when the service itself is acceptable, the overall experience can still be overwhelmingly bad. I wanted to speak with Danielle about it but did not feel comfortable because there is no privacy in the salon-- it's one big room with a divider partitioning the two areas off and everyone in the hair section can hear what everyone in the wax section is saying and vice versa. I would strongly recommend the mother invest in a baby gate that has a spring action to allow the gate to automatically shut after being opened. We have one at home for our toddler and it works great-- then we don't ever have to sharply rebuke our guests who come over for dinner when they accidentally leave it open. Or even still, post a sign asking customers to make sure the gate is closed and latched- explain that you're burdening them with the safekeeping of your animals and apologize for the inconvenience. Or perhaps she should just be responsible herself for ensuring the tricky latch gets engaged since the pets are her responsibility. All of those options would have been infinitely better than a stern reprimand to a paying customer for failing to do something for which she should not have been responsible.

Since then, she has had 4 different locations and I am still loyal to her as ever. I cannot say anything negative about this amazing woman. She is an incredible esthetician with lots of knowledge and skills. I have gotten facials since I was 14 and she is the best esthetician I have had the pleasure of meeting. When I first saw her, I had moderate cystic-like acne and active acne with multiple breakouts per month. Just after few months of treatment (1-2x a month facials), my acne was less severe, scars were less noticeable, and I started breaking out less. Fast forward 2 years, I started getting compliments on my complexion from strangers. Now, I break out only when I eat certain foods (milk chocolate, french fries, pizza) or around my period. So ever since then, I have been on her appointment book once a month for the past 4 years. Wow. That's crazy but I am so thankful that I have found Dagmar! Her prices are very fair as well. She is also known for eyelash extensions, reiki (energy healing - has done a lot of incredible work on me!), and electrolysis. She is always booked out weeks so make sure you make an appointment right after you're finished with your session. Not only is she an incredible esthetician but she is also an AMAZING person; I can't describe it, you have to meet her and see for yourself. She has a HUGE heart and is such an empathetic, sympathetic, compassionate, understanding, wholesome person. She pretty much knows my whole life story lol so she is like my family. Last Christmas I even gave her a gift - that's how much she means to me! I've even seen her teenage son grow like 6+ inches within the past few years because I literally have been seeing her every month for the past 4 years (wasn't kidding about this!). I can honestly say that Dagmar is definitely an important person in my life and I am so glad that I have met her - she has made a positive influence in my life both aesthetically and spiritually. I have had around 50 total hours of electrolysis on those areas; which have been worked on by a handful of electrologists all along Puget Sound. When I saw my other electrologists, I would always leave those appointments with super red, inflamed, sometimes burned, blistered, scabbed over skin. Not to mention, the treatments themselves were painful because insertion of the needle was done incorrectly. My skincare routine following those appointments consisted of Neosporin all over my face, everyday, for upwards of a week until the treated areas healed. Unsightly to say the least. Dagmar is undoubtedly the best. The fact that I feel no pain during treatment and very mild redness afterwards speaks for itself. Her aesthetics background further validates why I feel so comfortable getting treated by her. After 3+ months of treatment, still can't believe how happy my skin is during/after electrolysis at Melange Spa. If you are looking for an electrologist, take my word for it and go see Dagmar. She is incredibly knowledgeable about a wide range of beauty treatments - and she kindly lets me pick her brain about it all! Not to mention her beautifully decorated, relaxing studio. Lo and behold, Bella Body and Sol, in the Fairhaven end of Bellingham Washington, has two of these same special tanning booths, which they promote as "D-Light Therapy" (as in "Vitamin D"). They also have very competitive (aka generous) pricing options for tanning sessions. I've been coming here for almost 2 years, and love the results! I feel wonderful, my skin feels and looks much better, and my dermatologist and primary doc tell me: "Whatever you're doing, keep it up - your skin is much healthier, and we see no melanoma issues". Living in the Pacific Northwest, I don't always get as much sunlight as I need or want. I used to look like I visited a "paling booth" until those special 2 weeks after July 5th, when the sun comes out (just kidding - it's at least 3 weeks). Bella's D-Light tanning booths not only help me feel good, but I end up with a great tan. The only side-effect from coming here is having to tell folks that, "No, I didn't just get back from Hawaii". Or else, making up a good travel-to-an-exotic-locale story... Heather Gauf, spa owner, intradermal cosmetic technician, and all around wonder-woman, describes her business perfectly: "Bella Body & Sol is a unique combination D-Light Therapy Tanning Salon & Organic Spa".
