Upon arriving for my appointment yesterday, I neglected to completely latch the baby gate (which serves as the door to the establishment). I thought I closed it all the way, but it turns out, the latch did not actually click into place. The mother reprimanded me for this in front of another customer. She told me that I need to make sure the gate is closed completely because they have two dogs in there and I can't let them out. Pretty much verbatim and in an annoyed tone. She actually went out of her way to correct me on this matter-- after arriving I went immediately to the bathroom and she waited for me to finish, then stopped cutting her client's hair and followed me to the waiting area to deliver the reprimand. I have never left the door open before; therefore I was not known as some kind of repeat offender, habitually conspiring to release the hounds. I did in fact close the gate behind me, it just didn't latch, which should have lead mother to assume my intentions were based in good faith. I have been coming to this establishment multiple times over the last year (every 3-6 weeks) and spending $60-75 each time. From a purely customer service standpoint, she should have remembered that I'm a steady, well-paying customer, quietly latched the gate behind me, and gone about her day. I didn't realize that I would be visiting a petting zoo while getting my hoo-ha waxed. I don't mind there being dogs there, but I certainly don't want to be held accountable for their safekeeping. The mother has chosen to bring dogs to her place of business (I'm not sure but this could be a health violation based on the nature of the business?) and therefore it is HER responsibility, not mine, to ensure her dogs don't get out. She will note I left my dog at home, and did not go about my day expecting others to be responsible for his safe-keeping. I was made to feel uncomfortable, as though I'd done wrong, and when someone spends a lot of money at an establishment, they don't want to leave with a negative feeling. So even when the service itself is acceptable, the overall experience can still be overwhelmingly bad. I wanted to speak with Danielle about it but did not feel comfortable because there is no privacy in the salon-- it's one big room with a divider partitioning the two areas off and everyone in the hair section can hear what everyone in the wax section is saying and vice versa. I would strongly recommend the mother invest in a baby gate that has a spring action to allow the gate to automatically shut after being opened. We have one at home for our toddler and it works great-- then we don't ever have to sharply rebuke our guests who come over for dinner when they accidentally leave it open. Or even still, post a sign asking customers to make sure the gate is closed and latched- explain that you're burdening them with the safekeeping of your animals and apologize for the inconvenience. Or perhaps she should just be responsible herself for ensuring the tricky latch gets engaged since the pets are her responsibility. All of those options would have been infinitely better than a stern reprimand to a paying customer for failing to do something for which she should not have been responsible.

Fast forward 2 years, I started getting compliments on my complexion from strangers. Now, I break out only when I eat certain foods (milk chocolate, french fries, pizza) or around my period. So ever since then, I have been on her appointment book once a month for the past 4 years. Wow. That's crazy but I am so thankful that I have found Dagmar! Her prices are very fair as well. She is also known for eyelash extensions, reiki (energy healing - has done a lot of incredible work on me!), and electrolysis. She is always booked out weeks so make sure you make an appointment right after you're finished with your session. Not only is she an incredible esthetician but she is also an AMAZING person; I can't describe it, you have to meet her and see for yourself. She has a HUGE heart and is such an empathetic, sympathetic, compassionate, understanding, wholesome person. She pretty much knows my whole life story lol so she is like my family. Last Christmas I even gave her a gift - that's how much she means to me! I've even seen her teenage son grow like 6+ inches within the past few years because I literally have been seeing her every month for the past 4 years (wasn't kidding about this!). I can honestly say that Dagmar is definitely an important person in my life and I am so glad that I have met her - she has made a positive influence in my life both aesthetically and spiritually. Disclaimer- I am super late on this post, BUT I haven't stopped thinking about these lashes (for two+ months). SO good! For Christmas, my mom had set up appointments for her and I to get our eyelashes done for the first time-- NOT by Lash Be A Lady. The lashes we received were nice and fun, but seemed like I was wearing a feather on my eyes. Least to say- too much. As I set up my appointment for a fill on my extensions with Nicole, I explained my situation and how I wasn't sure if I would need a fill or a complete new set. She was very quick to respond and answered all my questions. I loved that I was able to an appointment so soon! When I got to my appointment, I was instantly made comfortable by Nicole. She made me feel as if I had known her for years and was able to completely understand the type of lashes I wanted. She informed me on the different types of lashes and how estheticians should correctly apply them. She also informed me on my previous lashes and how they might not have been the best fit for me. Getting the lashes put on took some time, but it was all worth it. In the end, my lashes looked beautiful and they were exactly what I wanted. The only reason I have not been back yet is because the lashes are a bit pricey and unfortunately I have not set aside a lash fund. Overall, I absolutely loved having Nicole do my lashes and I can't wait to set up another appointment! read more

Nicole is AMAZING! She has a amazing little spot right off California Avenue. I went in for my first EXTENDED bikini wax and facial wax, eyebrows etc! I felt incredibly comfortable the entire time! Not only did Nicole do an outstanding job on my face and bikini area but the products she uses are to die for! All organic/paraben free and cruelty free! Made my face feel fabulous! Top of the line and amazing prices, you have to go see her, worth the commute over from the city! Shortly after my last review I was contacted with an apology masked by many excuses. These excuses went on ad nauseam and at length via email and text. She originally offered to come back to my residence for another touch up to fix the problem areas. Initially, my thoughts were that I absolutely did not want that because I wanted to be done with her services. After thinking it over I agreed since I was not happy with the final product and needed my brows touched up still. Quickly after I agreed to this she contacted me again suggesting a full refund. This solution seemed like a win/win and that way I could take the refund and get a touch up elsewhere with a new artist. Well, she dragged the refund promise on and on and on. Eventually it seemed like it was going to happen and she sent me a screenshot of the refund. It never came and then she tells me another story and excuse as to why she can't refund me now. Included in all these correspondence is more personal details about her and her families troubles. I am just so over this entire ordeal she has involved me in since April!!! Beware is all I can say. Earlier this week I saw a new artist who touched up my problem areas beautifully. The experience was like night and day in regards to professionalism and skill. I was given adequate after care instructions this time and my brows now look like they should have in the first place. All at a fraction of what Jessi charges.
