From the start, she was sweet and easy to like, though I'll admit I used to inspect my nails closely after each visit, looking for imperfections. A year later, my nails are healthier than ever, and those worries are long gone. I don't even stress about choosing a color anymore. Amy knows me well enough to guide me or pick something perfect when I can't decide. I've truly had the best manicures of my life this past year, all from this little shop. Amy is clearly loved and valued in the community. Many of her clients are locals, and even their husbands sometimes stop in for a pedicure! While a bit of patience is occasionally required since she's the sole manicurist, she is absolutely worth the wait. You won't be disappointed. Hubby and I made reservations on Friday for 2 pedis and a simple mani on Monday. The space is very large however only two people were working. So hubby and I were finished at very different times. The pedicures were nice. Seattle prices but that's okay. My manicure was very simple. Literally cuticle clean up. No polish minimal massage no buffing and they charged me the same $25. That was disappointing. So it was mostly good and a little not so good about our first experience. The two women there were both very nice as well. I love the location of Nail Masters at Birch Bay Square, a lot of us gals don't want to drive into town for a pedicure so that's a plus. It's also very quiet, there were only two other customers in the salon when I was there. There is also tons of parking. The salon itself is rather dimly lit and the polish selection is not as plentiful as other places I've been to. The salon seemed clean and the pedicure chairs were very high quality and in excellent condition. My technician was super gentle and worked very quickly. She did an excellent job trimming, cleaning and painting my toes. The basic pedicure here does not include a massage, something I have come to expect from previous experiences at other places. Overall this is a good place for pedicures in the north county area and I recommend it if you don't want to go into town. read more

It's OK. They're polite and the main owner speaks English, but the service very rushed, probably because every time the phone rings she says "OK!" without keeping any written record. People just kept coming in, and only one person was rushing around doing the work while an older person was wiping up. I wasn't impressed by the way they use the same files and tools on different people, making me worried I'd get a nail fungus. The prices were high for a little town like Blaine, as high as Seattle, and she skipped many steps such as cuticle care, hand massage, and dry skin removal on my pedi, but the quality of the manicure was fine. I went for a mani/pedi and an older woman clipping my toe nails cut the top pf my toe. I yelped and blood was dripping from my toe. A younger woman (owner?) helped bandage my toe and gave me a gift card for a mani and pedi and said she would do it herself. That older woman should not have been allowed to touch a client. I've come here off and on for a few years and the best description of the services is erratic. 75% of the time they deliver great manicures and pedicures, 25% of the time is a rush job with much lower quality. I really wish they'd get more consistent. A great pedicure should take longer than 10 minutes and specific steps in the process should be followed each time! read more

I am very pleased with the manicure I got here. Everyone I talked to was very friendly. I had only gotten a pedicure here before but wanted to check out the reviews before I got a manicure. After reading the reviews, I almost didn't come but since it's so close to where I live, I thought I'd give it a chance anyway. I'm glad I did. I didn't experience anything bad like the other reviews had mentioned (they did speak in Vietnamese to one another but that's par for the course if you don't want to drop a lot of $$ at a high dollar spa for a mani). I was actually impressed that they spoke in English with me & included me in part of their conversation. This place is really nice. I was helped immediately for just a simple manicure and eyebrow wax. It has been too long since either was done and they didn't judge. Both services were done by different people and very thorough. He make a tiny nick on my finger that I couldn't feel or see, but he was very apologetic. He went back over anything that wasn't to his liking and I wouldn't have noticed. The practitioner doing the waxing was the same. He was a tad rough, but nothing uncomfortable. I got my nails done at Nail Masters on February 20th - a shellac manicure & a pedicure. Both were enjoyable & the conversation was pleasant. The biggest reason behind this 5-star rating is that this manicure LASTED. it's March 17th (almost a month later!!) and my nails still look great. They are grown out due to natural nail growth, but I don't have any chips or missing polish. I work in a job that does use my hands and I have pets so manicures normally don't last more than a week and a half, tops. The pedicure also still looks great. Amazing! Well, moving means a new nail salon and even though I went to one in Bellingham, it was nice but it didn't last and my nails were tattered when those tips were removed. Kyle, took the old ones off and I waited about three weeks before I needed a new set and a pedicure. The pedicure was first and even though the water wasn't hot enough it was OK. I am used to a deluxe pedi with the bubbly water, hot towels on my legs and a massage. It was nice but not what I am used to at my old salon. Kyle is quite delightful with a good sense of humor. On to the nails...I chose a dark pink sparkly and the tips are square. I've worn oval nails for years and the square ones look GREAT! Kyle took the time to trim my nails so that the tips would adhere securely. I LOVE my new nails and I will definitely be using Nail Masters as long as I am in the area. This place is the WORST. I got a terrible pedicure...the girl cut me! No apologies, and still expected me to pay full price. They chat amongst themselves in their own language and move from person to person working on whomever whenever. Even if you have an appointment, they will take someone who walks in over you and you will sit with your feet in the tub waiting for someone to come back to you. The guy who runs the place is like a pimp! These people do not know customer service. Lesson learned, you get what you pay for. We came over the weekend- the chairs are broken like taped together controls and they chair just flat doesn't work... Part of the enjoyment is in the chair- The lady cut my big toe nails at an angle then tried to cover it up and straighten it out and ended up cutting my nail waaaay to short, when I said "what happened" as they are very short and that's not good- the reply was "you said cut short!" & "it will grow back" I mean come on!!! You would think there would be a discount or something for the obvious discomfort this will cause... Nope full price. WORST NAIL EXPERIENCE EVER. when I first got there I showed the guy a picture of the nails I wanted, he looked at the picture for a good 3 minutes then finally went to grab the color. I didn't think the color he picked was the same as the one in the picture but he insisted it was so I went with it. when we sat down there was a shield type thing between me and him that was SO DIRTY the counter was also disgusting and there wasn't even a towel on it or anything. There was no oils, no lotion, no massage, no anything. 51$ for what?? after he put the acrylics on he asked how long I wanted and I said medium length and what he gave me was definitely not medium. they were SOO short and I did not like them whatsoever. The next day I came back to get them redone because they looked nothing like the picture. the appointment was supposed to be at 4:15 but he didn't even start until 4:45 and it probably would've been a longer wait if my mom didn't say anything. I asked for them to be longer and I asked for a new color and yeah he did that but the shape was awful. I asked for coffin and it was definitely not coffin, all of my nails looked different lengths and shapes. Worst manicure I have ever had. Stopped in to get my nails done while traveling and should have read reviews first. I knew I was in for a bumpy ride when it took them 5 minutes to acknowledge I had walked through the door. First of all, they made it seem like a huge inconvenience that I was there. Then while removing my existing shellac they scraped and filed my nails so thin that it is painful. After filing my nails, she begins painting right away. No cuticle prep or any other kind of work was done and I had filing dust all over my hands still as she began painting. My shellac had bumps all over it and chipped within an hour of leaving. AWFUL! If I could give zero stars I would've. Pros: The seats were nice, we were seated quickly, and the two young males were nice. That's about where the good things ended. Cons: *First, the nail polishes were so old and practically empty, so it was difficult to choose a color. They were so old it was difficult to open a bottle. All four of us sat down, and three of us were being serviced which was fine. But this is where the problem started. *The lady Jennifer was very aggressive when cutting toes and tapping roughly to have you switch feet. She did not even give the tiniest amount of a massage. She used almost no lotion so it was basically the rubber gloves she wore just touching the foot. The hot washcloth was put on the leg then IMMEDIATELY TAKEN OFF. It was not even used as part of the relaxing process. When she was cutting the cuticles, she did so quickly and it cut my toe. *My biggest issue by far is the tools (callus remover [cheese foot grader], scrubber, cuticle cutter, etc) she used on my feet WERE THEN USED ON MY MOM AND THEN A DIFFERENT PERSON. Not sanitizing the tools is so disgusting and since my toe was cut I'm now very nervous for all the diseases that can be transferred when things aren't cleaned. In total, my pedicure was 10 minutes long and cost $27. While this may "seem" cheaper than other pedicures, this was so expensive for the service received. When I asked if this was an express pedicure they said this was normal. Wish there had been current reviews that said this so my family and I could've avoided this placAs we were leaving two ladies were walking in and nicely asked the main gentleman how long the wait was and he rolled his eyes at them ignoring their question and just restated for them to pick out their colors. He ignored the issues that we stated to him as paying. All four of us were in and out in 30 minutes which is crazy for 3 workers and 4 of us needing pedicures. AVOID THIS PLACE. Not sure how they have regulars but if you are here on vacation, definitely look for another place!! So upset. read more

Very friendly staff. However, I was very surprised at how minimal my pedicure was. They didn't put anything in the water while soaking my feet, no cuticle gel to soften or moisturize, nothing while using the cheese grater tool and didn't use a pumas stone to smooth it out. I went to this salon because I needed my nails done quickly and couldn't get into my own manicurist. They took me right away, but a younger fellow who I felt didn't give a hoot about me or doing a good job came up and without doing must shaping or pushing my cuticles back quickly put the polish on and before I could ask about a base coat or anything else he was finished!!!!! What a terrible job. I will NEVER go back. And no one seemed to oversee this fellow. He must have been shown where the polish was and given one-time instructions. read more

I have been here twice, and both times have received very poor customer service. I had a manicure both times, and although the end result was good, I will not be returning. The owner is very, very rude. I observed him being rude with other patrons too. He seems to get very agitated immediately when someone asks him to repeat himself. There's a language barrier (owner and staff are Asian), and while most seemed fluent in English, sometimes it's difficult to understand what they're saying. The owner also wears a mask, and doesn't take it off to speak to people, which makes understanding him even more difficult. I saw that he walked away from one woman after she politely asked him one time to repeat himself. She looked confused for a moment and then left. I don't blame her. Both times I had one person start out on the manicure, then leave for a lengthy period of time, and then another person came to finish the manicure. I don't mind having two people, but I'd like to be told at least before the first person just up and leaves. There was no attempt at any communication at all, the tech just stood up and left. I was also left multiple times while the gel polish layers were drying. This takes a few minutes per layer, but the owner left to work on someone else twice, leaving me for more than ten minutes each time. He gave no warning that he was leaving. The salon wasn't busy at all and I observed two other staff members there, doing nothing, just sitting in the pedicure area. The atmosphere there was really unwelcoming. Again, I don't mind waiting a bit, switching nail techs, etc. but I was displeased with the number of lengthy, rude, and unnecessary interruptions as well as the complete lack of customer service. I'm disappointed that I gave this salon a second chance. I don't recommend Nail Masters to anyone. read more

A friend recommended this place so I tried it out after I got nice sandals. No appointment needed. I had tried to call ahead but got a message the number was not in service... the owner said something about it being finicky wires/connection.... The hours are Monday through Saturday 10am to 6pm.
