I come here when I'm at the beach due to proximity. I feel it's overrated and overpriced for what they give you. The inside always comes out mushy even when I eat it right away. I prefer that each component of my breakfast burrito tastes distinctive. The hash browns and bacon should have a nice crunch to it. The sausage should stand out. The cheese should be nicely melted.!Instead it tastes as if it's all jumbled together and not in a good way. I think it's due to the burrito having too much moisture in it. Stopped by in early 2025 just to grab one of their famous breakfast burritos, constantly trumpeted by critics as the best breakfast burrito in the South Bay area of Los Angeles County. It was OK. I made a side trip as I was walking back to the Redondo Beach Pier from visiting Torrance Beach. Phanny's has been earmarked on my maps for a while. It closes at 2 pm, and was able to make it around 12:30. They have a small parking lot, but since I had walked up, ended up seeing their back entrance first. A sign clearly stated that their dining room was closed, and that you needed to order in front. There are two make-shift windows/doors in front and the further one (closer to the kitchen) is the window for order taking, while the closer one is where you get your order...perfect set-up when things are busy, but a little harder to understand when you are the only customer. Anyway...it's a small menu, consisting only of breakfast burritos. Ordered a Sausage burrito ($11.75) and got it about 10 minutes later (at the other window). No frills service. Ended up eating lunch somewhere else, and brought the burrito back home. It was still warm even 3 hours later, and had been carefully wrapped. It had been made with care, with no ingredient overwhelming the others (sausage, scrambled eggs, hash browns, cheese, and sausage) making sure that all the ingredients were evenly distributed. I enjoyed the sausage...pellet sized, flavorful...the kind used for pizza, but definitely not homemade. But the tortilla was very average, the kind you can get at any grocery store. My biggest gripe was the size...if you are going to use such a big size tortilla, then make the burrito big enough to not have so much overlap of the wrap: some bites had 6 layers of the tasteless tortilla because of the wrapping method...I ended up not eating those pieces Plus the cheese and salsa were negligible...my preferred style is a lot of melty cheese and a side of salsa to dunk each bite. I really wanted to like this place -- great location, cool local vibe, and a solid concept. But come on... over $15 for a breakfast burrito that's barely filled? For that price, I'm expecting something substantial, not a tortilla with a handful of eggs and air. The strangest part is the salsa situation. You ask for a little salsa on the side, and they tell you (verbatim): "The salsa's already in the burrito." Then you open the burrito -- no salsa. None. Not a drop. So either it evaporated, or someone in the back is playing a long-running joke on everyone. And if you ask for even a tiny tablespoon-sized cup, they act like you're requesting a federal secret. The burrito itself? Fine. Not bad, but nothing memorable. Warm, edible, but not worth fifteen bucks and an argument over a spoonful of salsa. Bottom line: decent breakfast, ridiculous pricing, confusing salsa policy. Charge a fair price or just give people some salsa. read more

Ordered a burrito with avocado, coffee, and orange juice. This order was easily going to exceed $30 for not a ton of food but decent quality. My wife asked me to get a cup of water for our dog. The employee taking my order said they couldn't do that and offered for me to purchase a bottle of water. That was my last straw with this place. If you have so little respect for your customers who are willing to pay premium prices for your food that you won't give them a cup of water, you don't deserve my business. read more

The hype was real. This bk burrito just hits all the spots you're needing to hit in the morning. I got the soy chorizo with avocado added on. The potatoes in it were perfectttt. I throughly enjoyed the whole thing. Not too greasy. They have a small sit down area but honestly, you can walk a few blocks down and sit right on the beach with a gorgeous view of the hills and enjoy your bk burrito there. You can't beat that. I also got an iced matcha latte with oat milk. It was delicious. I love how it didn't come pre sweetened- I'm not a fan of sweet drinks. Service was thorough. The burritos were quite filling but it did feel a bit wet compared to other breakfast burritos I've had. I think I would probably ask for salsa on the side and control the amount in my burrito. I think the fillings themselves could have been grilled a little longer? To get that crunchy textural difference! The meats themselves were tasty but also weren't as well distributed as I hoped. Had been to this place dozens of times over the years. It's been about 4 years since my last chorizo burrito and I was craving one all week. So today I went and nothing was the same. Couldn't sit and wait in the dining area had to wait in the hot sun standing on the sidewalk and the food was horribly disappointing. They offer soy chorizo and regular and carne asada and sausage and double or triple meat- yes- wild and yes I heard people ordering it! Me, the regular was fine and perfectly filling! Fluffy eggs and hash browns, cheese and salsa included!(but salsa absorbs so you might want a spare as you eat it. Their cold brew is good but on bitter side so needed to add some milk but they have interesting drinks like Lavender Lattes and Mochas etc. which would be worth trying. Weekend at after 9a- 10 people in line after 10am, 20 people in line. Weekday-1-3 people. Next time I am ordering a side of hash browns as well as it was crispy on its own. (Yes it is in burrito already) just looked good on its own. You walk up and order at the face of Phanny's on PCH. Parking in back. Pick up in back. No salsa or hot sauce available at pick-up, included or offered (yes .. it's on me to "find" a condiment for a place specializing in burritos). Bad attitude service. This review is based on one visit. Burritos bursting with flavor were the order of the day for 3 hungry diners. Chorizo burrito was nicely spicy. Carne asada burrito had appropriately-sized chunks of meat, blended with salsa cheese and other goodness. Phanny's coffee sign says they have good coffee. This is a serious understatement! The coffee was GREAT. Well organized ordering process, clean space and a wonderful vibe here. Please stop by if you haven't tried Phanny's yet. I drove by here when I was on my way to the dentist and the line outside was a good sign. They have ample parking in the back. They have a walk up window to order at the right of the front building. Despite the times I've stood in line, it has consistently moved faster than I expect. I get the chorizo burrito which also comes with egg, rice, hash, and potatoes. It's VERY substantial and worth every penny. There's also a menu with a variety of enticing latter, espressos, juices, and matcha. I've gotten the lavender mocha latte and the machata--both are pretty good. Service is friendly and I'd say it's never been more than 10 mins wait from when I order these last 3 times. There's no seating arrangement and the inside dining is closed off (possibly due to lack of staff to upkeep and Covid). However, food stays warm by the time I get home so I'm able to enjoy it on my weekend mornings. I'm so glad I found this place! read more

I haven't been back to Fannys in years as their prices had gone up and I felt like they were pretty expensive for what I would consider a grab and go place. As you can no longer sit inside and you order at the window and they hand you your burrito in a small paper bag with no napkins or salsa, I feel it's lost the affordable and classic breakfast diner charm it used to have. This time I got the sausage breakfast burrito which I used to love but was unfortunately disappointed with this time around. I typically love their food but this burrito lacked any sort of flavor and resembled something I'd throw together at home. It seemed to not have any spices or seasoning and really just tasted like an expensive egg burrito. The portions themselves are also not anything crazy as the boys ate it in one sitting no problem but a lot of other places you typically get two meals out of the burrito. I also had to ask for salsa cups on the side, which they used to give, to see if that would add some sort of flavor and kick and the salsa itself was also bland. I was really underwhelmed with the food and don't think I'll be coming back anymore as it really doesn't compare to other breakfast joints where you can sit and enjoy the food as well. There are about 12 parking spots in back otherwise you have to park in the neighborhood. No indoor or outdoor seating since 2020. You see everyone walking around or sitting in their cars eating their burritos All the burritos are delicious with lots of meat choices or veggie add-ons. The hashed brown patties are crispy and yummy and are also found in all the burritos. The orange juice is fresh and tasty. The lavender latte is one of my favorites and the drip coffee is delicious as well. So on your way to the beach or work this place is a must. 5 stars to the staff and crew, plus service is on point. There is a saying when you eat in a hole a wall place the food is great and this time that myth is false. I ordered the chorizo burrito for 15.00 ( pricey for the size of the burrito lol), a little less salty then the sausage wraps in McDonald's, a lot of the ingredients in the burrito are super bland with little to no taste and feels like you are chewing rubber. Not sure if it was an off day but 15.00 to get served processed food is not justified. Your better off buying a del rio microwaved burrito and can guarantee you it would taste way better plus their salsa is just tomato with cilantro... nothing spicy. Came here with a friend to get some breakfast burritos and chill by the coast. I honestly love how close it is. A good walking distance. We got a classic bacon breakfast burrito along with the limited pastrami breakfast burrito. The pastrami was good, but felt that it was missing something. Maybe it was because we forgot to get extra salsa on the side. However, the classic bacon is definitely the better of the two as it was able to surprisingly stand on its own. My Phanny's breakfast burrito experience? Very good. Not exceptional, but very good. This is by no means the best breakfast burrito that I've ever had. But it definitely gets the job done. Fresh, melty and well cooked. Why only 4 stars? The burritos are on the smaller end. My burrito could have benefitted from having more salsa, eggs and carne. I tasted a little too much tortilla with each bite. That said, the burrito is still very fresh and tasty. So Phanny's is a solid option if you're in the area. Went there on Sunday at 10 am. The service was great, waited less than 10 mins for my order and the soyrizo burrito was fantastic.

No indoor dining and it October of 2022! They used to have long lines here but now the Phanny's has done a lot less business because they're not allowing people to eat indoors. I came here for one of their burritos to give them another chance, apparently didn't want our business because I couldn't sit inside so we just left went to another restaurant a few blocks to the south! They must have their reasons for not allowing people to eat inside but all of the restaurants have gotten past the Covid restrictions. For me complete nonsense! read more
