This is a small hole in the wall Thai restaurant in Covina. I love supporting small businesses especially after the pandemic. The food there is great! It's not too expensive and tastes great. I normally get their Tom yum noodle soup, a curry and a noodle dish (either pad Thai or pad see ew). I've also ordered a large amount for a party a few months back and everything was made fresh! The owner also told us how incredibly thankful she was to have our big order and gifted us a box of veggie egg rolls. I will definitely continue to support this gem in Covina. read more

The food here is disgusting. I placed a simple order of pad see ew and received noodles that were sour and over cooked...they didn't even have a noodle form. I called to complain and was told they were noodles from the day before and that new noodles had arrived. The fact that they were willing to serve me noodles that were either spoiled and/or way overcooked tells me that they are willing to cut corners and do anything to make a sale. I got a menu flyer for Phang Roy Thai in my mailbox, so congrats, your advertising choice had worked! I drove to this place specifically to try it out, and I honestly love trying out restaurants that I otherwise had no idea existed. I kept an open mind, and pretty much had very little expectation. Upon arriving, I placed my order with the cashier, a gentleman who was both quick and courteous. (You do have the option of ordering online ahead time, which I opted not to since I was too lazy.) I ordered an app (golden crab legs) and an entree (orange chicken with rice). I was told to wait for about 5 to 10 minutes. I sat at one of the tables while I waited. The restaurant itself wasn't too big, and it could accommodate about 8 to 10 tables, around there. The decor was really all over the place, lol. It's got some Thai cultural stuff here, and then there on another wall, the typical inspirational phrases canvas wall art that you could find at Ross. It's a bit weird, but overall friendly atmosphere. Shrug. Anyhow, I waited close to 15 minutes, which was expected and reasonable, no points docked off here. Food was fresh and hot, nicely packed, and I was on my way. As far as service went, great. The food themselves, I found out at home, weren't that great. First of all, the menu's name and description for golden crab legs were entirely misleading. This was not crab. They're IMITATION CRAB legs. I felt strongly that this should be at least mentioned, since I wouldn't have ordered this otherwise. Secondly, it wasn't golden or crispy as one might logically expect. It was very, very lightly battered. I was basically eating some extremely lightly fried imitation crab legs dipped in spicy mayo. I do have to say, though, the dish, take it for what it was, tasted okay tasty. So, moving on. The orange chicken with rice was also kinda eh. Think of it as more home made style, when compared to the famous ones from Panda Express. The one from Phang Roy Thai tasted a little bit less artificial, and it was honestly, again, okay tasty. To sum up, nothing blew me away, and priced at $18-19 for my lunch, I'd give it 3 stars for now. I was wavering between 3 or 4 stars, but in the end, I just don't think it's quite there at 4 stars yet. The portions were good, as mentioned by other Yelpers. The bill total sounded a little high, but I had enough food to consume for both my lunch and dinner, so it all evened out. One thing is for sure, however, I am totally up to revisit this place. Honestly, who makes their pad thai spicy? Came here around 2pm on Sunday, Sept. 9th. First time here and came upon this restaurant due to my boyfriend who found it on yelp. It was COMPLETELY dead inside. I couldnt even locate an employee for a good 10-15seconds after entering. Sifted through their menu&placed 3 items togo. Ordered their papaya salad and 2 shrimp pad thais. Ive been to NUMEROUS thai restaurant and know how to order my food. As i was ordering, i said "a papaya salad and 2 shrimp pad thai, one with-" and got cut off by the employee who asked "how spicy?" NORMALLY, that question always come up upon ordering papaya salad ANYWHERE so i said "spicy". Then continued my order stating one pad thai to not have peanuts or bean sprouts. Food arrived after 10mins which wasnt bad. Came home to eat my food with my boyfriend and we couldnt even eat our pad thai cause it was extremely spicy. He normally can handle extra spicy foods. Me on the other hand only usually order mild for any item. Their papaya salad came with a sauce cup inside with their dressing which i like since majority of the time, it spills out of the bag. Anywho, the papaya salad did not come spicy at all. It was just plain dressing and it was our pad thais that were SPICY. Even my boyfriend couldnt even handle his pad thai which is surprising cause he loves spicy food. Overall, I spent ~$33 for food we barely couldve eaten. Now my boyfriend has pad thai for a few days. OH, only plus is they give you a lot of shrimp if thats your protein option compared to some places who give you 4pieces. But then again, i paid an extra $2 for shrimp. read more

One of the few good places to eat Asian/Thai food in Covina. You can tell this is a family owned restraunt and feel a bit "homey" in there. Their customer service was great, they kept checking on us to see if everything was good. THE FOOD: We ordered jalapeño bombers to start. I really liked them. My main dish was the beef galbi (short Ribs). That was very good. They gave us complimentary egg rolls for our order being $20 over. Staff here is very nice and accommodating. The menu and pricing are standard. The portions are pretty sizable. We ordered the Panang Curry with white rice and an order of Drunken Noodles with beef and medium spicy. Didn't have to wait long, the food was delivered fast. Almost a year ago we tried this place. Tonight we decided to give this place another shot only to experience extreme disappointment again. This time I tried the Kai kua which is a fav thai dish I get in general and this was bland and the didn't offer spicy like other restaurants I have been to. The noodles were giant dry (The oil makes it shine) and stuck to each other. My boyfriend had the orange chicken which is his fav asian dish and he said it was disgusting. I am a pescatarian/vegetarian who can't eat tofu, so I ordered all of my dishes with the extra vegetable option. So much delicious veg was included in all of them! I was so pleasantly surprised to find this place. Thanks to Yelp of course! It's a hidden gem for sure! Family-owned by a young couple. Had an early dinner here by myself, so I missed the lunch special. Ordered the Hawaiian fried rice and the Pad Thai with chicken. Both were about $9 per dish, but really worth it because they serve you like a dish for 4 people! I had plenty to take back home and eat for 2 more days! Delicious, tasty, seasoned just right. I love the lemony aftertaste of Thai food and these 2 entrees definitely had that feature. Service was also quick and they pay attention to you. Kind couple and very humble. I love family-owned places, as opposed to franchise restaurants. They serve fresh ingredients; not frozen ones, as is typical of the franchises. Makes it more nutritious or healthier that way! OK, so yes, this is a very clean place with very friendly staff that make you feel welcome. The decor is cute and pictures abound of what you can order. That alone is worth a few stars. The food is a solid 3 1/2 stars for me, we both had the lunch special. I am always comparing Thai food to Pasadena's Saladang (in its heyday) and they usually fall short. I had the Pad Thai, hubs the Orange Chicken (I don't even know if Orange Chicken IS a Thai dish, but oh well, that's what he wanted) Both dishes were freshly prepared and came with plain rice, salad, and a small egg roll for the lunch special. I think it was an absolute bargain too. (6.95, I think) We got outta there for less than 20.00. I did not try to Mango Sticky Rice or Thai iced tea, even though I wanted to, because I'm trying to keep away from sugar. (Ha.. wonder how long that'll last...) The Pad Thai did not come with a lime wedge, or peanuts, as I have had in the past. I should have just asked for it, I know. The rice noodles were of good consistancy, and the shrimp was fresh and sweet and good. The portion was generous. But, it needed *something*, so I put soy sauce and some chili paste on it, much improved the flavors. I liked it and would order again, asking for a little more spice, a lime wedge, and peanuts. I did not care for hub's Orange Chicken, it was less than crisp, and the sauce did not have that sweet-spicy note, it was kinda flat. It needed salt or something. But then again, I am not a fan of sweet n sour anything or orange chicken, so what do I know? I would order something else next time. (Or make hubs order something else :) ) I will definitely be back and try the chicken larb salad, I love that, and some other dishes I see recommended here on Yelp. Given the current state of our society I found the dining room inviting and colorful as well as what appeared to the the owner/operators who readily took my order. This tiny place tucked inside a sorta run down looking strip shopping thing (too small to use the word mall) makes extraordinary Tom yum gai. When you take off the lid the hit limey steam....yum. they make it nice and spicy, but not too spicy. I love adding brown rice to mine. I'm not so sure about the other dishes. The egg rolls were fine, however the chicken pad Thai was the worst Thai plate of food I ever ate. I had it delivered so this may play into it. This little place is AMAZING!!! I ordered through grub hub for takeout. Immediately, they called me to confirm the kind of soup I wanted since I forgot to previously mention. I got the coconut soup and it was heavenly. First sip and I'm in love. The coconut and lemon flavor is an amazing mixture of sour and savory. It's not very spicy, and I'm okay with that! I don't think it's for everyone since it can be very sour, but it's definitely my cup of soup. The pad see ew I ordered is a generous portion. The price here is worth every buck! Delicious and filling. The staff here are very professional and friendly. They had two little girls in the front (I think it's the owners kids?) and they were such sweet little helpers.
