I heard good things about Lily May, and finally had the chance to try it myself. Is it a really…read moregreat bar with good food? Or a nice restaurant with a great bar? Somehow, this place accomplishes both. Most places have what's called a "Barrel" pick. They sample and buy a specific barrel to bottle and serve. Not here. Lily actually contracted to create their own line. So let's first talk about the Bourbon. It's intentionally a lower proof- from past experiences they found that folks who don't really drink a lot of bourbon (gender aside) don't care for higher proofs. I mean, it's around 80 proof- pretty mainstream. I had it in an Old Fashioned and neat, just to see what it's like. Neat- I found it smooth, drinkable and aromatic. In a cocktail, I thought it was a bit sweet for my taste. Not unpleasant, but I want to taste the whiskey in my drink. I will give them credit- to my taste, usually lower proofs come across as thin or watery. This bourbon held up just fine. It's a very limited menu. Only 3 appetizer options. No "Small Plates"- just real food to graze on while enjoying a drink. Nice pasta and pizza selections. No steak or seafood options, which I found interesting (I don't consider frozen shrimp in the same category as a fresh fish filet). But still we had 3 different entrees and they were really tasty. Healthy portions nicely presented. Prices were exceptionally fair and reasonable. It's new and being from the industry I know opening in the winter, with the Ballpark closed, SkyPac and WKU out for the holidays, is hard. But the owner is friendly, knowledgeable and has done a great job of keeping food costs low while still keeping the lights on until things get busier. I'm betting that's why the menu is not more adventurous. Maybe as things pick up he can expand the offerings. Our server was great, attentive and not afraid to make suggestions- which I like. The owner stopped by our table, shared his story and made us feel welcome. This place is small, intimate and worthy of BGs support

The chips were thick and crispy and the salsa was yummy. I ordered the Emanuel's Special but I asked them to hold the shrimp. I'm not a fan of seafood. On June 7th, my elderly mother and her husband visited this location for breakfast and were treated…read morewith absolute disrespect. While they were eating, a server approached and asked if the prescription glasses on the edge of the table belonged to my mother because another customer had reported her Versace sunglasses as missing. My mother explained that the glasses were hers, they were prescription tinted lenses -- not sunglasses -- and definitely not Versace. The server came back two additional times, asking if she was "sure" the glasses were hers. Again, she confirmed that they were. The server then approached her table for a THIRD time and brought the other customer over to check for herself. The other customer confirmed the glasses belonged to my mother. All of this happened in front of a restaurant full of people. It was invasive, disrespectful, and completely out of line. No one should be interrogated and humiliated over their own belongings. 0 stars. Please do better, Colonial Inn.

The wait to be seated was minimal and we were given a run down of the specials in case we missed them on the board when we entered. It was not long after we ordered that our plates arrived piping hot and full of flavor, All I wanted was a vegetable platter and there was definitely enough food on the plate to satisfy my hunger and that's not including the muffins/biscuits that were brought to the table. The desserts here, mostly pies are really quite good. I ended up taking a slice home for later with absolutely no complaints. The best part... the pricing! Everything is well priced! The only bad experience is one of the side items was not available. Sometimes you can't win them all, but I definitely will return!
