Had our last meal in Bowling Green here, and it was outstanding! Can't go wrong with a giant cinnamon roll in a skillet!

We stopped here on a road trip and the food was very good, the Farmers Market skillet was a good mix to make a great breakfast. The patio seating was nice for a warm day, the service on the patio was a little slow, we saw some other customers get up and leave that had not been served. To be fair they were very busy as well. All in all a good place to go grab a nice brunch.

We were in Bowling Green just to check out the new Menards. We wanted to eat somewhere that wasn't a chain. So, we decided to check this place out. It was really busy! We had to wait 20 minutes for a table. Since I was in Kentucky, I had to try the Hot Brown! The place was clean, well lit, nicely laid out, and clean bathrooms.

Not busy inside but quite a long wait before our server came to our table. Food was decent but nothing exciting. Pancakes are huge. The syrup dispenser apparently never gets cleaned between customers because it was super sticky all over. I hade the chicken and waffles. The chicken was almost dry and overcooked. The waffle was not bad but I felt like it was missing something. The water had a weird taste also but I every town/city has different tasting water. Thank goodness I had a cappuccino which may be the highlight of the visit. They serve Community coffee which isn't bad and didn't leave a strange aftertaste. Probably would not visit again but instead try a small, local shop or cafe.

Food was fresh and good but never got the salsa I asked for and the price seemed kinda high for what we got.

This shop is located downtown, but there's another shop closer to the highway that has a drive-thru and parking lot. I have not been to that location. I came here twice, and I had a nitro cold brew with sugar free vanilla as well as a hot black sesame matcha with oat milk. The cold brew was smooth and strong- perfect for powering through a workday on a warm day. The black sesame matcha didn't taste "green" and stayed warm, a powerful punch to get through the afternoon. They also have unique non-coffee drinks; my coworker got an iced drink called "Huckleberry Ben" that seemed interesting. The prices are so low here. You can get two specialty coffee drinks for under $15, and that includes tax and tip. The baristas were nice, and the coffee shop is a fun place to hang out if you want to work or chill. I don't know why anyone would drink chain coffee in Bowling Green with Spencer's around. I can see why everyone loves it, and I will be back too!

The shared restroom setup was a little awkward, but honestly, I'm glad it brought me in because it felt like discovering a hidden gem in Bowling Green. The atmosphere inside is amazing; cozy, stylish, and definitely a great spot for photos. Since it's close to WKU, there were lots of students and staff studying and working, which gave the place a really nice local energy. The woman taking our coffee order was incredibly kind and friendly. She was so genuinely thankful when I left a tip, which made the experience feel even warmer. Great coffee, great vibe, and a perfect little stop while exploring Bowling Green. Highly recommend grabbing a cup here as part of your downtown visit.

Now, perhaps I am just a tad too used to being treated terribly at fast food places. In my current city, getting fast food often comes with a slight verbal abusing. When I went through the drive-through here, I was pleasantly delighted by how kind the workers were. Not only were they kind when taking my order, the kindness continued through a different person when I got up to the window to pay. Two different people going out of their way to be kind and go beyond the pleasantries really stood out to me. So much so, that I turned to my husband and said that we would never get treated like this at home. Our food was decent for Dunkin, nothing out of the normal.

My husband had to make an unscheduled, quick trip to Bowling Green this week for work. I decided to travel with him. I will never skip a trip to Bowling Green again, just so I can go back to this bakery. I have been gluten-free for 13 years and have tried gluten-free baked products all over the country from Washington state to Florida. Awaken Bakery has absolutely broken the code on gluten-free bread and desserts. My husband does not eat gluten-free unless he takes a bite of something I have. Yesterday, he tried a blueberry scone, shared a toasty sandwich with me, shared a sausage biscuit with me, and also got a lemon cake cup. He said everything he ate, he would not ever have been able to tell was gluten-free and was absolutely delicious. Oh, he also shared my cinnamon roll with me. We devoured that thing in less time than it took to actually order and pay for it! That cinnamon roll was the BEST cinnamon roll I have ever had in my life, gluten-free or not! I also got a mini cupcake sampler that had wedding cake, carrot cake, and a chocolate version that I have not tried yet. Having traveled the country to eat, lol, I can tell you that this Awaken Bakery is one place that I will absolutely put on my list to travel back to any opportunity I have. I wish I hadn't been starving and had taken the time to take photos of their sweet little bake shop and all of our food before we started devouring it, but I did manage to grab a photo of the cupcake sampler, minus one cupcake, the French toast, cup, and the lemon cake cup. Everything was so delicious that I even bought a hat and T-shirt and ball cap from them. I am including a photo of that. The little girl that took our order was super sweet and very knowledgeable. Everyone there was incredibly friendly, and everything we have tried or devoured, was absolutely delicious! Seriously, gluten-free or not, go visit Awaken Bakery!

I got a chocolate donut, a honey brulee cupcake, and a salted honey butter latte. They were all fantastic, and aside from the donut which was a little dense, you could not tell the difference. Its not cheap though, a single donut is $4! and same with the cupcake which if it were a good size would be normal, but this is a teeny tiny cupcake. The shop is cute and the people working were pleasant. Would I come again? Maybe not for me but if I had to get a gift for someone who is vegan or follows a gluten free diet, definitely.
