Wow, what a major disappointment! We have been taking our dog here for years and they've refused cutting our dogs hair unless we clean and brush her hair completely so that their tools can more easily shave her. WHAT??? She has barely 2 inches of hair all around and there's zero matting so I'm so confused why we would pay $$$ to basically groom her ourselves for them to just cut her. They also ALWAYS forget to cut her nails despite us always telling them to. This is insane, I'm never going back here again. The new owners have lost the plot. read more

This place had a management change recently. I made an appointment 9:30 Tues morning and the store was closed so I called and owner never picked up the phone. After waiting in front of store for 20 min she shows and said the store is closed for the day so she said I can come back again the next day. I decided not let it get to me so I dropped off the dog and few days later I found my dog's foot skin has been shaved off so he has been licking his foot for few days and I was wondering why. The owner never mentioned anything about this so I'm so upset. I think it's common courtesy to let the owner know if they made a mistake but nothing was ever mentioned. read more

Service really really declined here, pulling my dog away from this place. In the beginning, Petstar groomers owners were friendly and really cared about dogs. I took my dog Luna here for some years now. My dog now whimpers and avoids the smell of this establishment. BTW, My dog is the type to LOVE the vet, love human beings, and strangers. She absolutely hates this lady which says a lot and she's always shook up from her grooming experience here. Usually will drop off my dog in the morning/early afternoon and not receive a call from the groomers for HOURS (5-6pm) to tell me that they're finished with the job. They will wait until the absolute last minute to work on her. I have to call and tell the lady to honor appointments and first come, first serve customers. Also, now the lady here looks so miserable. I normally venture out to LA to get my dog groomed, but these days the drive is just to far. Now I just go up the street to PetStar which offers the same service but at a much more convenient location. I've never seen a dog more than 15 pounds here...so I think its safe to say they specialize in small dogs. I get the full service (teeth brushing, trim, bath, ear cleaning, nail cut) for $50. My dog always comes back super clean, fluffy, and smelling slightly like doggie perfume. I love that smell! The owner has always been nice and courteous. She was even concerned and worried when my dog had to get his tail cut due to medical reasons. We even once used their boarding service (i.e. cheaper version of doggie hotel) while we went on vacation. Another big bonus is this place is open on Sundays (until about 3pm). Parking lot is tinyyy and a little cumbersome. **BEST PERK EVER** a ribbon around my dog's neck after his grooming that says "My Groomer Loves Me". Let's hope its true! read more

I've had it with these people. I went in on Saturday and watched as they took my dogs and shoved them into a Kennel with another dog! MALE? Both of my dogs are female and one is not fixed! I brought my two dogs here a few years ago where they were loved and groomed beautifully. Today, I brought my new baby in to have her nails trimmed and had a wonderful experience. They trimmed her nails right there in front of me and even though she was being difficult she was handled with love and care. Her nails feel amazing and she didn't have any pain or discomfort besides her being anxious (her first visit to a groomer so don't blame the shop!). We didn't hear any other dogs there crying or yelping so they were taken care of. Will definitely be bringing her back for her first full groom here! :) read more

I think I found the perfect groomer for my little pooch. He liked her, he listened to her, he looks cute as hell, he smells lovely, and he's not mad at me. Plus, she cut his hair exactly how I wanted it. I took him to several different groomers in our area (surprisingly, there are more than 5 groomers within a 2 mile radius - no joke). Actually, i think he's been to all of them...and I would alternate because I was never 100% happy with the results.. Plus my mutt will have the runs or kennel cough after a full day of grooming and sitting in a cage at some of these places. I know when he has a horrible time when I pick him up after 4 - 6 hours and he won't even look at me. But today, he was sooo happy after he was groomed. Plus, I only had to wait 2 hours, as promised. Another plus, you get $5 off your first grooming. Oh yeah, they also provide a frequent user card. After every 5th grooming, you get $10 off!!!! Whoohoo whoohoo!!!! No one in this area does that. I brought my dog here several times over the years but as of the last visit about three months ago, my family will never return for these groomers' "services." There were a few times when my dog came back with skin irritations/red splotches as if she'd been burned and one time water got in her ear & caused an infection, and sometimes the skin around her eyes was red. I know management changed so I thought it might have been due to initial adjustments with the new groomer(s), but this last time was the last straw. Not only have the groomers efforts become slipshod, the woman (I assume the owner) assured me that we would be able to pick up our dog in 5 hours. My dad dropped her off at noon and I needed to pick her up no later than 5pm before a family dinner. At 5pm, I came to pick up my dog and the woman said she would need another 30-40 mins. Tell me why it takes almost SIX HOURS (and no calls to warn us that our dog wouldn't be ready at the promised time) for a simple bath + haircut for a tiny maltese? Then she gives me attitude that I'm wasting her time discussing this with her when she could be finishing up by dog's grooming. Ummm excuse me? Wtf were you doing for the last 5+ hours?? Then a man comes in (who I'm assuming is her husband) and he tries to figure out what's going on. I tell him that my dog was dropped off at noon and still isn't ready, and he has the nerve to tell me I'm mistaken and that there's no way she was dropped off at noon if she's not done by now. Yeah - my thoughts exactly sir. Ultimately I had to leave my dog there and she finally got picked up by another family member around 6:15pm, when they called us for pick up with no apologies or explanation as to why it took over 6 hours for a simple grooming. Just save yourself worry + wasted time and please take your pets elsewhere. It's not worth it to give these people your money + business. read more

Went in here with my dog which is a 40 pound pit/lab mix. Was told just a bath, I did not need ear cleaning or nail trimming, would be $40. A bit steep since her vet will do so for $35 but out of convenience I agreed. Was starting to fill out the form. And the lady asked what breed she was after asking her name. And saying hi to her as my dog wagged her tail in excitement to her. She then said what she was mixed with. She asked if she ever bit anyone. Of course not. And then said she was sorry but could not give her a bath because she was a pit. Ridiculous. She said the owner was not there but that's what they were instructed to do. Are you kidding me? The discrimination against her breed is beyond unacceptable. People especially groomers should know the history behind that breed. And also should be trained in how to handle temperaments. Period. Have a policy that the customer sign a contract if any of the breeds were to hurt the groomer in any way, the owner would have to pay the medical bill. I never leave a bad yelp review as I know it effects the business. But it's breed discrimination and I'm tired of it. It's totally unacceptable. They lost a customer who would've come once a month. And I will tell my friends who have dogs to just go to my vets where it is cheaper and they love every breed and are well trained as groomers as well. read more

Really dont like the people at this shop. They dont know why and how to treat dogs.. i have no idea how they got certificates for pet grooms if they cant handle their responsibilities here. Multiple times they charged me extra for my dog not behaving well for hair cut and today they rejected to cut his nails cause they cant handle. But other groom shops can do the job in less than 10 minutes perfectly well. I never want my dog to be treated as they have done to him today. I have been taking my dogs here off and on for a few years. The shop was under different ownership when I fist started to take my boy. He was never happy when I picked him up. He seemed really depressed. Some man was grooming back then. So I had stopped going. But the shop changed ownership and i thought I'd try again. The new owners are these ladies who know what they're doing!!!! I rescued a Yorkie earlier this year and started taking her to Pet Star. They do a fantastic job!!!!!! I recommend taking a picture of what you want and they will do it. The language barrier will be difficult to translate an explanation...they're Korean. They do speak English as a second language though. The ladies are really sweet. For a Crescenta Valley groomer they are the best. I had a problem with another groomer cutting my tiny male chihuahua's nails too short. Now he gets regular trims here. If I am in the neighborhood I stop by for a quick trim and they always seem happy to take him right away. The staff is gentle and skilled. I bring all my dogs and I feel I get a lot of service for the money. The staff were especially kind to my aging beagle. They bathed him, squeezed his glands, trimmed his nails and even managed to brush his teeth. I have a very skittish dog and she too was handled with care. Her thick coat absorbs a lot of dirt, and she needs her "feathers" trimmed regularly. She always comes out smelling amazing and the trim helps her keep herself clean between baths. They also have a good selection of cute doggie clothes. I bought a couple of polo shirts for my chi that look great wash after wash. Highly recommended. read more

I'm very satisfied with this establishment! I went back and forth to different pet groomers including Petco to see if they can accept my pupper for a wash and a nail trim. My sister texted me about this and she said they do a great job! When I got there, the lady asked if I've been here before cause she asked for a number and when she pulled out the files she had a file from my previous dog, Jolie :') I asked them to give Nala a wash, nail trim, and hair trim. It all came around $40, which is a very reasonable price, considering that a wash is just $25! I came around 11 and she said that Nala will be ready by 3. Around 12:30-1 I get a call back saying that Nala is ready! I was so shocked at how quickly it took! I was very happy with how Nala looked. She looked so clean and smelled so good! I'm very impressed with this establishment. The service was great! Will definitely bring Nala back here for a wash and also recommend my friends to bring their pets here if they're looking for a good and professional pet groomers. The only issue I had was parking. Their parking is really small and has only space for 2-3 cars max! You'll have to find street parking. read more

But my mom only speaks Korean and I needed to find a place that provides customer service/consultation in Korean. I decided to give this place a try, and the first thing I asked was that how long she's been in this business. The owner told me that she bought this business last year and she also is acknowledged that the previous owner had a very poor reputation. Anyways, so she provided my one year old puppy a haircut (with several mattings.. I felt sorry cause I didn't know I had to comb him often since this is the first time I have a dog), nail trim, dental care. Because my boy, Mocha, had several mattings she suggested to cut really short and after this time, he can have regular style. I picked him up after about 3 hours and he looked really good! No scratches, redness, signs of bleeding or anything. He looked not scared or anxious. I can tell he received a friendly service. Price was reasonable too and compared to other places, it was about the same. I really recommend this place and if you hesitated because of the last couple bad reviews, consider giving a try to this new ownership. read more

Avoid this place like the plague. I was taking my dogs here for over a year and their service steadily declined (it started out OK, but over time you could tell they weren't spending enough time brushing out mats or throughly cleaning the dogs undersides). They also always complained about my dogs and tried to charge me extra fees. My dogs are the cutest loveable critters around (and I'm not just saying that because I'm their owner), so it really leads me to believe that the owners really don't enjoy being with dogs - they only see it as a way to make money. Finally, after patronizing this place for over a year with my two dogs, the woman who runs the front angrily told me never to bring my dogs back. I was a little shocked, but happy to not have to walk on eggshells with her (she can be very moody). In the end, it was the best thing that could ever have happened as I found an awesome new groomer who actually loves my dogs and who my dogs love as well (they used to be scared going to pet star and I would have to drag them in). I assumed because the dog has a teary eye problem and it's usually hard to see her eyes on her furry face, a pain to clean I know. But she didn't correct my way of thinking and I paid up and left. DO NOT TAKE YOUR DOG HERE. I took my dog here about three times to get him groomed but every time I came back, my dog whines and pulls back on his legs, refusing to go in. I could tell he absolutely hated it here, but this shop was close and convenient to where I live that I had no option but this shop to take him to. My guess as to why he hates it there so much would be that they are really harsh on him. For example, every time I pick him up from this place, either his nails are cut too short so he starts limping on his paws due to the pain, or they didn't clean out his ears well enough. And taking into consideration the carelessness of their grooming, the price they ask for the service they give is HORRIBLE AND the time to wait for them to finish grooming your dog with the results they give is RIDICULOUS. Recently I took my dog to get his grooming and came back home only realizing that he would not open is right eye. He kept on squinting his eye, and his eye was swollen. My mom called the shop to see if anything happened while they groomed him and they said that they "FORGOT" to tell us that they got fur in his eyes so they put a eye drop in his eye to help disinfect and clean his eye. LIES! LIES! LIES! How in the world do you forget to tell a customer that something went wrong with their dog's eyes? Also, considering his horrible, uneven haircut and poorly cut nails(still is limping on his left paw and keeps licking it), and his swollen-red blood shot eyes, they probably made a scratch or poked his eye while cutting his fur and just panicked so they rushed to finish off his hair cut to get his grooming over with. Oh, and they said that his eye would be fine after a few hours, but he is still in pain. Even with putting dog eye drops in his eyes, his eye is still red, swollen, and shut. When I try to open his eye, it is cloudy on the surface of the eyeball and he keeps generating some discharge around his eye. I'm suspecting he has cataract ... but I plan to take him to a vet ASAP to find out for sure ... but since it is labor day weekend, it is hard finding a vet open. Please do your dog a favor and DO NOT take him to this shop. ALL THEY WILL DO IS HURT HIM/HER AND TAKE ALL YOUR MONEY FOR THE POOR TREATMENT AND CARE THEY PROVIDE FOR YOUR DOG. I WILL DEFINITELY NEVER TAKE MY DOG HERE EVER AGAIN & I WILL PRESS CHARGES AGAINST THEM IF ANYTHING HAPPENS TO MY DOG'S EYE. read more

My mom usually grooms both my dogs and I wash them but I I'm sooo glad that I found this place for my darling maltese because she did a fantabulous job. She really knows how to primp the pooches cuz I've never seen my dog look so beautiful before. When I came to pick up my dog, I barely recognized him cuz he looked soooooo cute from head to all 4 paws. I will definitely be a frequent customer for both my dogs (my beloved maltese and pomeranian). I could never get the same results trimming him at home because it's professionally done here. This place is the best groomer I have ever worked with. They treat my dog so well. I've been coming here for almost 7 years. They always do an incredible job and are so reliable. They have the best deals too. It's hard to afford grooming my dog all the time but this place makes it so easy and affordable that I can actually manage to take the best care of my dog possible! i love this place, and the people who work there are so sweet! BEWARE! I had my dog hurt by Petstar grooming. When I brought my dog home after getting her groomed here, I noticed she was limping around the house. It didn't take long before my vet had her x-rays and determined that her legs had been sprained by these people. So I contacted Petstar to demand an explanation and the owner had the nerve to tell me there's no way I can prove that my dog was injured during a grooming session with them. I am appalled and disgusted as to how a person like this owns and runs a business. Please for the sake of your dogs, do NOT take your dogs here. They are horrible, they are cruel, and they are not fit to treat/groom dogs. I'm totally heartbroken that I subjected my baby to this horrible place. read more

I come here to bring my doggie on the recommendation of my aunt. She brings in both her dogs here, so I decided to bring in my little Toby. Toby, sadly, is an outdoor dog. At 13 pounds, he's probably one of the bigger dogs that enter through the doors. I've only seen little indoor/lap dogs whenever I've been here. For a dog my size, its $45 (I think) before tip. They also have a "reward card" so you can get $10 off after you've come in a set number of times. They really do a good job in grooming and cleaning my dog. He usually is taken in utterly filthy and smelly (he loves running in the dirt for some reason), and he comes back home clean, smelling nice, and with either a bow or a little bandana around his neck. I took him in on Christmas Eve (they're usually quite accomodating about same day appointments), and he came back with a little green bow and a Santa hat. He was so adorable that I (who firmly disagrees with dressing up dogs unless they're freezing), grabbed one of his (two) sweaters that makes him look like a candy cane, dressed him up, took a picture, and posted it on FB.
