However, after picking them up and fully evaluating their condition, I feel obligated to leave an honest account of my experience. My dogs were boarded here for 21 days, and I paid $3,340.29 with the expectation that they would be properly cared for. When I saw them at pickup, I was immediately alarmed by how thin they appeared. At first I questioned whether I was overreacting, so I weighed them once we got home. Based on their recorded weights, they lost approximately 18% of their body weight during their stay. The more I look at them and evaluate their condition, the more upset and disturbed this makes me. In addition to the severe weight loss, both dogs also had fresh cuts and scars that appeared consistent with having been in fights or altercations while boarded. This was never communicated to me during their stay, and seeing visible injuries on top of their physical condition was extremely upsetting. I documented their condition with video and reviewed everything more carefully afterward. Two days before pickup, I received an email stating they "seemed a bit hungry after eating their food." I had provided very specific feeding instructions, including a digital scale to measure 200 grams of food per feeding, twice daily. When I checked the scale afterward, I noticed the units had been changed from grams, and I also became concerned they may have been weighing the food incorrectly by including the bowl weight. What upsets me most is that their veterinary records clearly documented their healthy weight immediately before boarding. The condition they were returned in was not acceptable and should never have happened under professional supervision. I do not believe this was intentional cruelty, but I do believe there was serious negligence and incompetence in their care. The email sent shortly before pickup now feels more like an attempt to establish concern in advance rather than address the issue appropriately. I trusted this facility with my dogs' health and wellbeing, and I will never trust them with their care again.

I've boarded with Charlie twice. The first time was in January 2025 and there was no issue. Charlie…read morewas super helpful as the sitter I had originally scheduled cancelled rather close to my trip. However upon boarding with Charlie a second time, there were some red flags. I remembered from my previous experience with Charlie that they preferred being paid in cash so when they sent me the invoice I asked if paying in cash was okay and they said that was fine. They also had stated I would be getting a slight discount ($36 a night instead of the normal $40 a night).Then at 5 am the morning of drop off I get a long paragraph stating that there was a convenience fee being added on as I didn't prepay. As it was literally the day before I had to leave, I felt no choice but to pay as I didn't have many options. The convenience fee was basically the same difference the discount Charlie gave was (I think it made my new total 3 or 4 dollars less than the original $40 a night would have added up to be).Then when I paid Charlie in person they didn't have any change and said they would give me the difference upon pickup. They also had stated that pickup was after 7 pm and when I texted them that I was on my way at around 7 pm that would be would get there at 7:15 ish. I did not get response until I had pulled up that Charlie needed to get dressed and that I needed to wait. After leaving for my trip, I texted to check in two days in a row before I got a response. Charlie said that they had sent photos and videos but I had not received anything and that things were fine. As I was traveling and only able to be on WiFi, I just passed it off as an error on my end even though all our messages were I-message and should have had any issues with sending photos. Then the next day I get text from Charlie asking if I can come after three for pickup. The stay was booked for two more and I reminded them of that. It was stated in my first submission through their website's online form as well as the invoice they had sent me in the same message thread. I will commend Charlie on being super flexible when I told them with issues with my flights being delayed as well as customs issues. I made sure to tip more heavily as they did me a huge favor. However pickup happened without them being present even when I offered to come by later when they would be around. It was not until the next day (after some much needed sleep) that I noticed some wounds/scratches on my cat that I was never informed about. If Charlie would have reached out and let me know beforehand, I would have been understanding as I know my cat was not the only one in residence upon drop off. There is a scratch on my cat's nose, a bulky scab on the interior of one of my cat's ears, and what feels like more scratches on the back of her head and neck.

We met in person at their place and everything looked great. We were really excited to have our cats with Charlie, so we gave them our deposit. They requested 50% up front, we respected their request and gave them $321.75 out of $643.50 for 11 days for 2 cats. A couple days later, I had received a panicked message from Charlie asking for $100 more on top of that due to an emergency they were having, stating that it was urgent. This was very concerning behavior. We know nothing about Charlie and asking us for more money seemed very suspicious. It makes no sense to ask your clients to help with personal, financial struggles, especially when we had just given them $321.75! We felt uneasy about this, so we asked for our money back and they refused to return it. Be careful. We were not expecting this kind of behavior and request from someone with a 5 star review on yelp. This is very concerning behavior and we were worried there may be more requests for more money once our cats were in their possession. We attempted to settle this in our messages, but unfortunately Charlie did not see their request and behavior as a problem, and refused to give us our money, leaving us with the only option to write this review. We still have not received our money and considering this a lesson learned. UPDATE: Note for Charlie's response, this is not at all what happened in our exchanges. I'm not sure if they are recalling a conversation with a different customer, but there was no mention of a request for donation at all. Since Charlie sees no issues with this behavior, it's fair that they stand behind it here. I've attached screenshots as proof of their error.
