Pets hotel in PetSmart

We needed a better leash, a Furminator and more toys for our golden. So we stopped at PS. It's a nice pet store they had what we were after and more. Staff asked us several times if we needed any help and we had it figured out. It's easy to find things here. Friendly staff, great selection. What's not to like?

As you can see on my profile I never ever leave any reviews anywhere. This type of grooming service and how we were treated needs to be exposed. I don't want any one else to go through this horrible experience. We took our Labradoodle to be groomed there for the first time. We were told his tail wouldn't be shaved and was shown a picture of how he was going to be shaved. They said he was extremely matted. Not true. We both agree what was going to be done and how much it would be shaved since he was always brushed and maintained by us. They shaved him so bad that his pink skin shows - it wasn't even shaved well and so uneven too. It's like they practiced on our dog. He's an indoor dog but it's now going to hurt him when he's outside because his skin will hurt him with the sun. To top it off the manager on duty Nick was laughing behind his mask. We asked what was funny about this. We didn't get one apology! All we got in return is "we won't charge you but it seems you are not a good fit here so you're no longer welcome here" wow!!! No words! It really is not about the money either ... we would happily pay when it's a well done job! It might seem like it's just a dog for you... he's part of our family and it's horrible how you left him. I'm very disappointed with your service ! Do not take your dog here ! Below you will see his after picture.

Our regular groomer couldn't get our dog in for a Christmas spa day so we decided to try PetSmart. I opted for their most inclusive package because our dog loves to be groomed and we wanted her to have a fabulous day being pampered. The total price was $76 which is about 25% more than our regular groomer. My husband dropped her off for the appointment while running some errands. Less than one hour later the salon called to say she was ready. Seriously? That's less time than it takes for me to get a haircut and shampoo. And she was supposed to have nails done, deep conditioner, facial, etc. Normally she's at the groomer for a minimum of 3 hours. I went to pick her up a bit later and she looked fine and they'd done little bows in her hair. But for the price I wasn't wowed. When she comes home from our regular groomer she always smells great. Today she just smelled like a clean dog. Another small issue was how they cut her face. The instructions were to leave her bangs somewhat long to cover her eyes. She is blind and has had her eyes removed so leaving her bangs long (like a small sheepdog) covers the scars and just makes her look better. When I picked her up her bangs had been trimmed back so the no longer covered her scars. Also, while I was waiting for her to be brought out a groomer was working with an obviously frightened dog. The woman who appeared to be in charge made some derogatory comments about the dog but when she saw my expression quickly added 'but he's cute.' Honestly, while there was nothing 'wrong' per se, there was also nothing that wowed me for the much higher price. I'll stick with our groomer Nick and give PetSmart a pass. Sorry.

I used to work by the Tucson mall and sometimes the way my schedule was my dog would have to be locked up by herself for a minimum of nine hours. I was using the Pet Hotel for "doggy day camp" several times a week so she wouldn't have to be locked up all day. The staff at the Pet Hotel is friendly, knowledgeable, always excited to see my dog, and very accommodating. I know that our high strung, high-energy, slightly neurotic dog can be a handful at times. They never made it seem like she was a burden, too hard to handle, or made her seem like the real pain that I know she can be at times. I cannot say enough amazing things about the staff at the Pet Hotel! Thank you for everything you do.

The label clearly states to return to store and the phone number goes right to Petsmart.

The manager told me they don't take toys destroyed by dogs back to the store. She told me to call the number on the toys tag. The number went right to petsmart and I was told the manager was incorrect and should have issued the refund. The manager was incredibly rude and condescending to me the entire time, saying things like "there's no such thing as an indestructible toy." and "toys are made to be chewed up by dogs." I don't think a $15 toy that says it's made to be durable should last under a day for an 11 year old dog with barely any teeth. I'm going to buy a kong with the refund I got over the phone but I'll go to a different store with better staff.

Uriah was super-helpful, and went above and beyond to help me with getting my dog's ID tag on his collar!

The love, attention, and genuine effort they invest in the care of the furbabies entrusted to them is second to none. Most places take your dog back to a kennel or play-space and babysit them. Nothing wrong with that because after all, that's what they are supposed to do but Hounds Town takes Doggy Day Care to the next level. Look at the photos. They held a Valentine's Day "Pawty" for their guests! When I left Maverick there for his first day of care, I was nervous. He is my world. Can you say "Therapy Dog" without saying "Therapy Dog?" Our puppy Junie was extremely reactive to other dogs and we felt like she would never get better. We enrolled her in the puppy elementary classes at about 5 months old. Kim and Jamaal were extremely accommodating and helpful throughout all of her behaviors, week after week. After she finished the group classes we did 2 private lessons with Kim and Jamaal and I can't say enough great things about the two of them. Junie is such a different dog from the day we started with Sol Dog and we couldn't be more grateful for Kim and Jamaal. I can't recommend Sol Dog Lodge enough!

There is some confusion about the locations of Sol Dog. When I first signed up to board my dogs, I…read morethought I was dealing with the people from Sol Dog on Prince Road. That statement is 1/2 right. Looks like the Sol Dog on Prince now has a new name and that owner used to be part of Sol Dog but is not anymore. My dogs were boarded in May 2026 for 4 days. All did not go well. I have spoken to Justin and Shelley from Sol Dog and BOTH of them have now said "that's not how we normally do things". When I spoke to Shelley today and told her that they had to say, "that's not normally how we do things", for 3 separate issues her reply made me want to do reviews so other people could see that the service I got was exactly how they normally do things. Issue 1- on our tour of the facility (beautiful facility) we were led to believe that we would be allowed to settle our dogs in their kennel. We were not. Shelley said, "that people are not allowed in the kennel area". When I told her that we were taken into the kennel area on our tour, she said "that's not normally how we do things". Issue 2- We gave written on paper instruction on how to feed our dogs. and put the instructions in their system. Not complicated. One dog gets dry and wet food. The other gets wet food only. The dog that got wet food only was fed dry food. Sol Dog sent me a text on day 2 that they were almost out of dry food. When I called and questioned how they were feeding my dogs, I was told they were feeding them correctly. It wasn't until I sent them an email that they admitted to feeding my dog incorrectly. Guess what I was told??? You guessed it "that's not how we normally do things". Issue 3- Communication. I was told that someone from Sol Dog would communicate with me and let me know how the dogs were doing a couple times a day. The evening I dropped them off I did hear from someone. The next day Nothing. The 3rd day I sent a text at 730am and did not hear back till 330pm. GUESS WHAT? "THATS NOT HOW WE NORMALLY DO THINGS". Some issues I brought up with Justin that I didn't bring up with Shelley. My dog blankets and toys were not dirty, had no dog hair and smelled like I just took them out of my dryer. I had a lot of treats left over and if they were given to the dogs like I was told they would be, there should not have been that much left. Sol Dog left such a bad taste that I told them I would never board with them again. Justin and Shelley both agree that since they were told I would never board with them again that there was not much they could do to fix the issue. I was not told they were sorry. I was not offered any refund, not that I would have taken it. They did have to pay the staff to feed my dogs wrong and not give them their toys, blankets or treats. All in all, I feel like the experience that I had with Sol Dog is EXACTLY HOW THEY NORMALLY DO THINGS.

GROOMING is the only aspect of the business I have utilized and I have been going to Tasha for 4 year's now. I take both my Great Pyrenees to her. She is so skilled that I hesitate to even mention her name because I don't want her to get so busy I can't get in! My female, Fiona, is a big solid nothing less than a Diva princess. Tasha has excellent command of her yet is very gentle and loving. Pyrenees are all hair and it gets matted and gnarly quickly. my dog's leave looking ready for the ring even though they are going to go home and roll in dirt anyway Her prices are well below the Petsmart and Sissy Groomer prices and unlike both these place's (yes, personal experience) they are never knicked, dew claws ripped or left with any un groomed spots. She charges $60.....yes, that is correct.... $60 for a huge great pyrenees. Don't let the price fool you. You get way more than you pay for. She grooms the dog's that board there as well as outside client's like us. No, she and I aren't party friend's, our kid's don't know each other and she has no idea I am writing this. I gush about her ability because she is just that da** skilled. The employees that work the kennel are usually around and they seem to be professional and are always friendly. They have always taken pride in the business but the new ownership and changes seem to have given them a new sense of pride and worth. I highly recommend the groomer Tasha and I do refer people there for boarding because they truly do care about the pet's they stay.
