I could not get into the Wilsonville location and decided to try the Tualatin location. I WONT BE BACK. We had an early appt at 9 am and dropped our sweet girl off for bath, haircut, nail trim and paid extra for the holiday package. They said takes 3-4 hours for our 6 month old puppy. All good. So I don't hear anything by 12:15 so just head back to the store thinking when I get there she will be almost done when I arrive at 12:45. Nope. Fine - they are busy- totally understand. They say 15 more minutes as I watch them take our girl from the back and put her on platform for the minor trim work we asked for around her face and to clean up sanitary area. Oh and that nail trim. 30 minutes later I go back in and she is done ( they did not let me know as I just kept wandering the store) but the minor haircut looks like I did the " bang trim" myself at home. So crooked and messy. Definitely rushed even though I said do not rush. She looks silly. Also nails not done ( I realized at home when I got scratched) and sanitary not done. $100 + dollars for a bath, blowout and really poor hair cut. Never going back there. Wilsonville is so much better. That tech should be retrained. She is horrible. read more

Every year around the holidays I stop at PetSmart to buy a stocking filled with cat toys. I choose PetSmart because in addition to Christmas, they have Hanukkah stockings filled with toys in Hanukkah colors. Yes, some may say that's crazy, but my house is very zen and I can't deal with having bright green, red and purple toys everywhere! So for this reason, I buy the Hanukkah cat toys and which are gray, cream, blue and white. This way, when they are scattered all over the house, they blend in! I've also picked up litter boxes, cat beds and carriers. Service is fine. Plenty of parking. read more

Do not take your pet here for grooming here! We took our dog in, did a consult with their employee on what we wanted, they looked him over and said that was fine, and then did a hatchet job on him. They did not follow any of our asks and completely shaved him. The shave was uneven with long hairs all over. We also asked them to give him a flea bath. They said he didn't have fleas so they decided not to give him the bath. We picked five off when we got home. Save yourself and avoid a hatchet job on your dog. I added before and after photos. read more

This review is for Chris at this Petsmart's training program My dog has now been through Beginner, Intermediate, and Advanced training classes with Chris and I couldn't be more pleased with the results. From the beginning, I've appreciated Chris's quiet approach to training both my dog and me. Chris takes a thoughtful approach with each dog, knowing they're unique in how they learn and respond to training. Chris made each week's new lessons understandable and broke new things down in ways I could understand. I especially appreciated how he takes extra time when needed for each pup. He created a really great learning environment that my dog thrived in. I'm so pleased with where my now one-year-old dog is in comparison to where we started six months ago. We've learned so many things that we actually use on a daily basis, on walks, in crowds, and in dog parks. On top of being a great trainer, Chris is just good people who truly loves dogs and "gets" how their minds work. Often, his explaining how the dog's mind learns new things helped me better understand my pup. I'm grateful to have found Chris at that critical time in my young dog's life. My goal for training was to ensure my dog was a good citizen and I could trust him in different situations. I'm pleased to say that's what he is becoming! read more

Absolutely ZERO STARs! I've gone to the Gresham store for over 30+ years and ONLY 3 on going regular groomers through those 30+ years until about 7 years ago they went to !! Then I moved out to Wilsonville decided to try them again, the one on "SW Jack Burns Blvd" well NOTHING CHANGED other than already HIGHWAY ROBBERY PRICEs has gone up 100%, Rude, heartless Towards the dogs & people. & this store here on Nyberg St I didn't even get half way in that I got a bad vibe & began to get very cautious I get to the grooming room ... OH HELL NO. Turned around & took off out the store like a rocket.. what I seen was abuse they didn't know I walked in. I waited for the parent to pick the pup up to let them know what I seen!! It's all about the $$$$ could care less about u or ur kidz-( fur babies that is)!!!! After so many years of being a repeat customer I told PetSmart to take flying leap!! I'll never walk into their stores at all not even if they gave me everything for free NEVER AGAIN!!! read more

When I couldn't find the ear drops I had seen on-line, I asked the clerk, Kyle, to assist me. He knew exactly the product I was looking for and what it looked like. He searched, but realized that they were out. He called a couple of nearby stores and located it for me. They put it aside and it was at the door when I arrived. Now, that's GOOD CUSTOMER SERVICE! Thank you, Kyle! read more

My dog came home from his grooming appointment and within 2 hours was unable to walk. Something had clearly happened at his appointment but no one told us. He was in intense pain in his back and was miserable. After taking him to urgent care, they confirmed a spinal injury from falling or jumping too far. It took him 2 weeks of meds and rehab to recover. When I called the store to discuss the incident with them, the manager assured me he would review salon footage and follow up with me - he never did. Hence this review. Don't go to the groomer here. read more

This is for Kelly at PetSmart! Now I see why your store has low reviews/raiting with the kind of attitude and service you provide to customers it makes it such an unwanted visit and making us locals go and conduct our business there while your present! There is tactful ways to conduct certain situation and not put customers let alone your colleagues down! Maybe it wouldn't hurt to revisit if the company does a review on your performance maybe do a review on those training videos on how to conduct and handle situations and try to better yourself on that aspect not expecting you to change the world but one step at a time and a little nice attitude effort goes a long way! Don't try to be a hero looking like a jerk and putting down your customers by your nasty attitude! Whenever you think about asking for a raise to corporate think about your attitude and how you treat others first and ask yourself am I a good assets to this company and make everyone feel welcome? Just remember your also a customer in other stores and you might just get how you treat others and when you do ! Don't ask why!!! Ps. Don't bring that attitude to restaurants your meal or drink might be tastier read more

I've been a customer of Petsmart Tualatin since they opened their doors. I have 3 cats, and so I frequently buy cat litter, toys, dishes, treats, cleaning products and occasionally food (although I usually buy higher-end food than they offer there). Petsmart is a pretty good source to buy those things, and it's so close to my home that it is extremely convenient. My frustration with the store though has traditionally been that the checkout process takes forever, and the times when I've needed help finding something, I haven't gotten much help from the employees there. The other day though, I went there and bought some cat litter, there was a long line at checkout that moved ridiculously slowly, and when I got home I had an email waiting for me asking me to fill out a survey. I did, I gave them a "5/10" , citing the long checkout as the reason it wasn't higher. Shortly after that I got a really bizarre phone call from the manager of Tualatin Petsmart. He was really angry, and belligerent, and wanted to argue about my rating. The really creepy thing though was he started citing my visit history (which I guess he looked up from the server?). Anyway, the experience gave off a "creepy cyber-stalker-ish" vibe, and I had to end the call. I obviously would never go back now, not so much because I am angry about that call or dislike the place, but more because I don't want a creepy cyber-stalker hassling me. At least there is the wilsonville petsmart that is not that much further away. And I've learned my lesson to never again fill out one of their surveys or use my rewards number when I make a purchase. read more

While I would love to only patronize local pet stores, for my inexpensive purchases the convenience of Petsmart is just fine. I figure my monthly $1.20 purchase of crickets is not going to make the difference for a local vendor. I've been coming to this location since they opened and prefer it to the Wilsonville location. The main reason is that they have several guys on staff that are reptile enthusiasts. My son always wants to go to this particular Petsmart and shoot the breeze about his next reptile purchase. Amusing because he is not normally my chatty guy. So I appreciate that the staff here is personal, helpful and accommodating. I'm sure this isn't universally true, but since those are the services we are interested in, we've been lucky so far. Always wish these stores had a broader range of specialty medicine for my dog. But then again, that is an expensive purchase and for that I do go to my small family-owned local pet store. They don't know much about the herps. read more

I have to leave this review after not knowing the first few times that I got my dog groomed at the Tualatin Petsmart, and being told that they had to shave him down because his coat type(shihtzu) when the real reason is because they are extremely busy and don't want to take the time for anything besides a shave down. I'm not a groomer so I didn't know what is possible! It was super uneven and butchered there were chunks and pieces of fur falling off the rest of the day, they didn't even properly blow him down after the cut, even after I chose add ons. I just had my first private business grooming and it was the same price and 1000% better. My advice is to shop around a bit. Or use my new lady, Groomingpawfection in Beaverton read more

Never bring your dogs here. Absolutely horrible care to my dog. He is a frequently groomed, well taken care of dog and was returned with dandruff and pee on his legs and he smelt horrible. He was not given the care they promised. As I was dropping him off, I peeked into the play rooms and the workers were on there phones and rolling there eyes at the dogs. My dog is traumatized from being left to pee on himself during his stay and neglected. NEVER AGAIN. Do better petsmart. Hire new workers who care. read more

They usually do a nice job grooming our dog, used to call to get an appointment. But something has changed... they don't answer the phone, the phone message encourages you to book online. But both the site and app are far from perfect; you can't order different services a la cart, you're steered toward a few packages, and they book WAY out. Very impersonal and not super helpful. The last time I took my pooch in, he was supposed to get a nail clip AND buff. When I got him home I noticed nails were still long and some were snaggy, though I paid for a buff. Okay,- these things happen, but I'd like to get the buffing done. I called, no answer, left a message explaining exactly what happened. No one ever called me back. I've decided to go with a smaller, local-owned business where a human being answers the phone. I give the three stars here because of all the times they did a great job, and all the groomers are wonderful with the dogs. But customer service has really gone downhill. read more

HORRIBLE! Took my 11.5 month year old there while I was out of town for Thanksgiving and they offered to feed him with the food they provide or what I would provide. I dropped him with our own food and told them if he ran out they can use the food they provide and they were totally okay with it at the time. We picked him up and they told us to bring more food next time because they didn't have enough food to feed him. This is a pet store how do you run out of food? They under fed him because there wasn't enough food??? Go on the shelves. Unbelievable. My dog was underfed and I got him and saw his ribs sticking out. Never doing this again. Horrible experience. read more

Brought my dogs to day camp and one of them did great and the other was anxious and growling at other dogs. Rather than calling me and asking to have her picked up, they left her in a kennel all day. This was for over 8 hours! I called and spoke to the manager and was told that humans have bad days too and that she will give me a free day camp. If a human child has a bad day at daycare and is being rough, parents are called and asked to come get their child. I know there is a huge difference between dogs and humans but to be locked up all day? No excuse. read more

Had a pretty unacceptable interaction here this evening. Came in to pick up some cat supplies and the cashier working ( they didn't have a name tag on but they had short dirty blonde hair, glasses) Noticed my tattoo on my leg, asked what it said and then proceeded to respond with a mocking laugh and saying "well that sounds pretty desperate but okaaay" I'm totally cool about people asking about my tattoos but this was just unacceptable. They didn't ask for any context behind it but instead made an insulting comment. I work in customer service myself and would NEVER say something like that to a customer. That is something you keep to yourself, especially when you're helping a paying customer. Really disappointed with this interaction. read more

Today was the first time I have ever encountered a rude person at this store. I was shopping at around 2:00 pm and the checkout person could not have been more unfriendly!!!!! DO NOT BOOK BRE! I have never been mistreated by petsmart and have been a long-time customer... until today. My older dog who is prone to moles, showed up for his grooming appointment, and they turned us away because he was "bleeding". This is the same spot/mole that has been checked out by two vets and looked over multiple times by various petsmart groomers in the past. I have gone to 4 different petsmarts between moving from Oklahoma to Oregon and the fact that it looks red or weird (which don't get me wrong- it does. He's an old dog and the giant mole is ugly) or has caused any other groomers reason to pause has never even been mentioned to me! Afterwards, I had multiple parties check the mole and none of them were concerned about infection or thought it was bleeding. I have endured the choppy haircuts, and the time they clipped my dog and caused him to bleed. I even didn't fight it when they said he "nipped" them once -which means they must have been very rough with him because he has had his hair pulled by random children, has worked with the elderly, and has never shown any form of aggression to anyone. But after this experience, I will NEVER go to them as a groomer again. I will especially let everyone know to NEVER book with Bre. She was rude throughout the whole experience, lacking complete empathy towards me and seemed like she was happy to have any excuse to have one less dog to be groomed that day. read more

If you have a large and/or active dog I would NOT bring them to the day camp. They have up to 15 large dogs in a small room with one attendant who is not well trained in animal behavior. They do not know how to handle larger breeds and blame the dogs for their ineptitude. I have been taking my puppy to the day camp for a few months, initially enjoyed it but more recently I have been having less pleasant experiences, from rude interactions with staff to not feeling like my dog was welcome there. This week I was told that my dog was no longer allowed to attend the day camp because of an altercation that happened while boarded at another PetSmart location. I was surprised and upset as I was never informed of an incident when I picked her up from boarding. I called the boarding location and was told by the manager that there had NEVER been any altercation and that the person who was spreading the rumor was misinformed. I find it super unprofessional that they would listen to gossip instead of first validating the information and before accusing my dog of being aggressive. I will be finding a better-suited daycare. read more

I've been using petsmart grooming in Tualatin for 5 years. This was the last time. I arrived early to get my two dogs. I observed from a distance my goldendoodle being groomed. The groomer was aggressively pulling her legs out to shave her... like actually in an angry way. My dog actually fell on her bottom while she was yanking her back leg up. She yanked her head up aggressively to shave under her chin. It was really upsetting to witnesss and even more upsetting to realize this is why she shakes when I take her there. I have witnessed other groomers being what I would say "mean" to other dogs while I was picking mine up and thought, oh that dog must be giving them a problem. No. Clearly it's the groomers. This kind of handling is so not ok. Maybe Petsmart should have cameras to see how their groomers treat dogs. read more

Terrible groomer. I took my dog in to get a simple bath, and I asked the groomer if they could cut the hair covering his eyes. The groomer then says that they would refuse me service unless he got an entire haircut, basically pressuring me to spend more money. I come back to my dog being completely shaved and he looks terrible (nothing like the fluffy dog I left). Do NOT get your dog groomed here, avoid at all costs!! read more

We have been using this PetsHotel for over 5 years now and have loved the staff and the service. However, in the past 2 months, the PetsHotel staff seems to completely have changed over with new management. The current management is not customer service orients, not dog friendly and very abrassive. We have a shy/anxiety dog who has been boarding and doing daycamp there for over 5 years. The previous staff worked to introduce new staff members and our dog loved it there. Today, we were told she is no longer welcome. I have a new rescue pull who was at her second day of private day play to get used to being in a kennel. Again today, I was told she was not welcome there. A couple of weeks prior to this morning I scheduled an early morning express apt for my dog to be groomed. He is adopted and isn't real keen on being groomed so he needs to be sedated prior to the apt. The protocol is 8hrs and then 2hrs before an apt. Meaning I have to wake up in the middle of the night twice to sedate him for a 7am apt . I rescheduled my day to accommodate this apt. I purchased the sedatives to accommodate this apt. I arrive early this morning and then I'm told, on the spot, that I'm not scheduled and that they're too busy to fit me in. Sorry. I'm asked if I actually scheduled the apt. Well, I didn't just arbitrarily pick that morning to show up. Of course I scheduled the apt. Then I am asked if I know who I spoke to which of course I had no idea. Frankly, I am sick and tired of grinning idiot incompetence. Places like this are warehouses and they have a warehouse mentality. The bottom line isn't good service but making money. I am disgusted by PetSmart's incompetence and I will no longer utilize their mediocre services. I'm done. There are better places to go and that's where I intend to take my dog. read more

The worst grooming ever! Rush there if you want to go for a bath (no brushing, no nails done) and a hatchet job that looks like Edward Scissorhands groomed your dog - all for the low price of 110.00. Medium Aussie. I explained how I wanted her barely trimmed if at all and she did not listen. The manager gave me a 20 percent discount off the service after complaining. Horrific customer service and Brittney, groomer, was the worst. My dog (and dogs know from the start) didn't like her right away. Normall I go to petco for any items I can- but smart carries a couple brands they don't. As a customer of locations around portland most my life, & this one for years, I'm rarely leaving with a good vibe. Tonight for example, a dark hair woman rushed to the back to tell me, with a lot of unneeded attitude that they were closed, as if I was so rude to be in there at 7 on the dot, they close at 7. I had a cart semi full of stuff, & was aware they closed at 7. Now being someone who has worked over 10 years in retail & service I understand the common rules & regulations of corporate & independent companies. As a Nordstrom worker for example I would have been fired probably for the way she was acting. Rudely telling someone on the exact minute they closed that if I wanted to check out it needed to be now because she needed to close her register. I continued down my last isle where I needed something (trust me I am not a person to even like being in close to closing) so I already had hustle to my shopping & knew I would be out before 7:10 probably. I grabbed my last item & went to check out, with attitude being unwelcoming again, I got my 2 items I needed & told her I would rather go buy the rest online because clearly I wouldn't want to take too long to check out. (Knowing she know had to likely put back my over $150 in products & so she wouldn't get that extra amount added for the day) because I would Rather order online than stand & deal with her longer or support her day/shift. Out of the Thousands of times I have closed registers & stores, there is absolutely no reason to get annoyed or rude to someone who was in the store before closing & could have been checked out & gone by 7:10 with hundreds of dollars in items. After running up to me with attitude at 7pm on the dot telling me I needed to leave right now basically, me grabbing one last thing, meeting her at register, putting in my pals card, checking out up my 2 or 3 items, walking me to the door to leave, I was out at 7:05. Unhappy, treated rudely, & now that location lost $150 that would have taken all of 5 more minutes to earn as well as a customer leaving happy with all their items. Trust me, I also know what it is like to want to get out of work at a responsible time while closing.. but then maybe you shouldn't be a closer if you aren't understanding your shift doesn't end when you lock the door anyways. There was another worker there (always friendly when she checks me out) so anyways, just needed to review because during times like these, that type of environment & attitude isn't good for anyone or any reason. I also find that returns there are beyond annoying as the manager on shift is usual rude & trying to find any & every reason to not do returns. I easily spend $500 a month between local stores & online for my pets, returning less than probably $50 Of that on average.. so another reason I go to petco in the area, returns are handled more Nordstrom like & less I guess, petsmart like. read more

We recently experienced a terrible grooming experience here followed by inadequate customer care. While on the way to pick up our four Yorkies, we received a phone call in which the groomer let us know that she "nicked" one of the Yorkie's ears. Her exact words: "I just nicked the very tip of it." They brought her to the vet & the vet let them know she was "fine." However, after bringing all four Yorkies home, we discovered that her injury was far worse than a small nick. Her ear began to bleed again, & she had a chunk of ear missing. We immediately called the location & got the runaround from the Grooming Manager. There were a few points of concern, including: -- Why weren't we called immediately when you "nicked" the ear & she had to be taken to the vet? -- Why did you misrepresent the severity of the injury? -- Why didn't you go over the injury with us when we arrived at the location? She kept repeating, "How can I make this better?" -- obviously missing the point of the conversation. Pure negligence on the part of the groomer & the manager. Completely unacceptable. read more

This is a good Petsmart. I boarded my dog at their Pet Hotel for a five night stay. She was extremely happy and excited when I picked her up, but my German Shepherd was exhausted and was ready for bed by the time we got home. They kept her busy, well taken care of, and called me at the first concern about a potential medical issue that I had to reassure them as being normal for her. When I passed by the Pet Hotel on my next visit, she would perk up happily and get excited... I also came here to get my dog certified for the AKC's Canine Good Citizen title. While it was just to take the test (I didn't attend any of their training classes), the trainers I interacted with were wonderful, good people. I can't vouch for their effectiveness as trainers, but I can say that they are definitely people that care about what they're doing, which is a good sign. I've never had an issue with the grooming department, but my dogs are pretty easy-going when it comes to grooming. read more

Take the date you've picked up at the local trap house here. Not only will they fit in swiftly with parts of the clientele, there are cute pets in cages all around too! If you're real lucky, you might get a Karen or even a couple of them like I just did, that will try to skip the twenty minute line to get served first for their superior looks. Playing your cards right you might get your date to fight with them so you can upload the video to reddit and get extra Karma points. Anything else? Oh yeah right, they don't take BoA cards for whatever reason. Don't think it's this chain specifically, but more off a corporate issue in general. Pay little to overwhelmed cashiers that are exposed to stinky customers on a time crunch like myself and hope for the best.
