My dog came home extremely thirsty. I was as if he had not had anything to drink for days. His urine was bright yellow. I'm not sure they checked his water. Anyway, they were very nice, but didn't follow directions because he was also supposed to be groomed, which they forgot about. read more

I really hate the fact that Petsmart is the only place in town that carries my dog's food brand. This store is one giant contridiction. On the one hand they are a really great source for local animal rescues as an adoption site. On the other hand they sell live birds, fish, small mammals as if they were a toy that can be used and discarded at will. I have to keep my blinders up walking in here or it seriously depresses me. read more

All Petsmarts are generally the same for me. You walk in, the general cashier greats you first and than its the hunt down for your products. You can tell who is an animal lover and who might just have a pet because their family or spouse has one. A reason that I would give them lower stars is because a good number of workers do not know much about their products. Especially Petsmart's generic products! You might not know about others but you must know the company's products. You can't work some where and expect to get by with not understanding what your selling. Petsmart sells a lot of products in the store and online. They do have the Banfield and Pet Hotel at this location. I have yet had the chance to use it but the prices are not to bad! I've bought my beta here last October and he is still alive! YAY!! :D Good Quality of fish! The biggest reason I am giving them 5 stars is for Banfield. I have 2 cats and with any issue or problem that I have had, they have been so helpful! I do their insurance like plan for my cats and it covers for each visit, their year shots, some teeth cleaning, and some extra test. Its only about $25 per months for each cat but for the amount of times I have had to take them in for getting shots, visit, and re-check ups, it pays for itself instantly. One of my cats is very skiddish and does not like people. He rarely hisses or scratches but he runs. They are very gentle with him and will not persue something if he is uncomfortable. Only if its a must! They do their best to make sure what I get will work and they always check up on my pets the next day. One of the previous visits, there was a new girl who screwed a lot of up my cats charts and even with what we purchased. We came in with our check up and stated certain things were not given and they corrected it, refunded, or prompt for us to come back when that service needed to be done and they would not charge. They have always been very welcoming and caring for my pet. My cats are my babies. I take care of them like I take care of myself. Its great that the doctors and nurses make my pets feel at ease and make me feel great! :) read more

I came by to pick some dog food up. I happened to walk past I guess the doggy day care. I was disgusted by what I saw. There was a man with a squirt bottle walking around tapping/kicking the dogs with his foot and spraying them if they were laying down he looked very annoyed and impatient with the dogs. I was so disturbed by it that didn't even buy dog food. I don't ever put my dog in this type of stuff for this reason and thought people who do have there dog there would want to know! read more

I'm a brand new dog owner. I adopted my dog from a friend and brought her to Banfield because that's where he had previously taken her. From the moment we arrived, the front desk staff was short and uncaring. I signed her up for the "drop off apt " option at 8am, unbeknownst to me that I wouldn't get a call to come pick her up until well after 4PM! They never made that clear on the phone and I felt like a terrible owner leaving her there that long! They were also extremely insistent that I sign her up for the full service vet program, where you pay monthly here. I declined upon first visit, luckily, because I will NEVER bring her back here again. My boxer/lab mix has an extreme case of happy tail syndrome and was dealing with a bloody tail tip. (The previous owner had failed to dock her tail.) They suggested covering the tip with a syringe and wrapping it, informing me that this was their common procedure for such a symptom. I was advised to leave it on for 2 weeks. 1.5 weeks into that time period she got it wet on a walk. I went ahead and unwrapped it, only to find the poor tail in far worse condition than before! Her tail had been shoved into an extremely tight space in the syringe, with no air to breathe and had rubbed an additional 2 inches of her tail completely raw! The tail was bloody, smelly and extremely tender to the touch. I then took her to another vet who disagreed with the original approach and suggested we simply wrap it and change her bandages every few days, stating that 2 weeks was far too long. It took an entire month of bandaging to get the tail back to its previous state. We never were able to get it fully healed after the dreadful trip to Banfield and had to later amputate her tail. We thankfully found a vet that we love and trust and she has since healed nicely. We will NOT be returning here ever again for treatment after our not so happy tale at PetsMart Banfield Pet Hospital. read more

Review for the pet hotel, the worst experience I have ever had. I should of listen to all the bad review on this pet hotel. But being in management business I know that the negative feed back is always more noted than the positive feed back. So I decided to try it out and give them the benefit of the doubt. Worst decision ever made. The girl at the counter was very unpleasant to deal with while dropping off my pet. It seemed like pulling teeth to get her to answer a simple question or acknowledge special pet care instructions. And would it hurt you to smile ? While making my reservations I made it very clear that the ONLY reason why I was using their services is because I would be working about an hour away from my home and would not have the option to stop by home and take my dog out to relieve himself. My job is normally five minutes away from home and I take advantage and walk my dog during my lunch hour. He is currently on a lot of meds that is causing him to urinate frequently. I made this very clear to the customer rep when booking our appointment and the death smile girl at the counter. The customer rep assured me that pet hotel services offer two daily walks BUT because of my pets medical condition he will be given two extra walks. These two extra walks plus the two that come with the services had me sold. The customer service rep was also selling the pet hotel service. He assured me he will be taken care of, room includes a bed and a TV. When I got to the counter to drop off my pet I kindly reminded the lady his extra walks and she quickly interrupted me and said Yea its notated on his file we know. Um ok ??? When I go back to pick up my pet 7:30 pm I see the lady walking in all directions trying to find my pet,...This was the first sign of alarming. How could his pet care rep not know where his room is. So I then start looking around to see what these "ROOMS" look like ohh not the pretty fancy room customer service rep painted. There are no beds and no TV, they are all cages it looks like a pet prison. When she finally FINDS my pet and brings him out to me he is shaking to the point his teeth were rattling. Second alarming sign. While paying my pet seemed very uncomfortable I knew for a fact he really needed to go relive himself badly. I was correct my poor pet urinated himself inside the store. Something he NEVER, NEVER does not even in my home. I quickly took him out and sure enough he urinated several times if I had a stop watch I can factually say it was about ten minutes straight he then pooped twice heavily. At this point I am beyond disappointed. I try to convince myself to let this issue go and head home. But I couldn't, I go back to the pet hotel to ask them how many times was he taken out and the front desk lady tells me his last walk and only walk was 12:30 ???? My boiling point here headed straight to Jupiter. I asked her what happened to the two walks the fee includes and the two extra for medical issues. She shamefully shrugs her soldiers o I don't know, but I can notated on there again for your drop off for tomorrow to make sure it gets done. I quickly told her No you will be removing our appointment as I will never never bring my pet back here ever again. PET PARENTS PLEASE, PLEASE DO NOT MAKE THE SAME MISTAKE I DID IGNORING THE BAD REVIEWS AND GIVING THIS TORTURE HOUSE A TRY TO SCARE YOUR DOG STRAIGHT. I am not exaggerating when I say these rooms look like a pet prison. My dog was truly shaking. I never had one staff member pet my dog or give him the special attention Banfield staff give every pet. (greet, play with them, pet them to make them feel at ease) The staff is unpleasant to work with and it is clear that you will be paying for your pet to bee in a prison hole all day. For this please keep your furry babies in the comfort of their own home. Yes they may be alone all day but it is better than being alone in a cage unattended scared not knowing when will be his or her turn to be taken outside. Please go local for a doggie day care. I found a lot of great ones before booking my torture appointment through Petsmart. AND they are only a couple dollars more than Petsmart. One that I found that I was interested on was Austin Dogtown. The video on their website looks like doggie heaven. (they are always booked sign they treat your pet like family) The only reason why I went this route was because of his medical issues should he need medcial assistance there is a vet onsite (Banfield where we have our health care plan). pet hotel staff: shame on you for not respecting my dogs medical issues and giving him the attention he needed, walks. I do not even care about the amenities you so call offer my only request was to take him out, simple request. My poor pet was respectful enough for your hotel and hold it to not urinate in his room but you as a conscious human were not respectful to assist him on his medical needs. read more

This review is only for the pet hotel. My dog stayed there for 10 days. Great service and caring staff. I highly recommend this place!

I came in with a little girl I am a nanny for. She is 18 months old but has significant hearing loss and developmental delays. We love to just walk around the store and look at the animals. On this particular visit, an employee named David was working in the fish section of the store. I was blown away by how genuinely friendly he was to us even without any intent on our part to purchase anything. He went out of his way more than once to show the toddler things he hoped would make her smile, such as feeding the fish or bringing over a couple of hamsters for her to look at. It made both of us so happy. It is friendliness like this and his "above and beyond" nature that would motivate me to come back to this store when I do need to purchase pet supplies. read more

I board my dogs here. The staff take very good care of them. Some of the staff have been there for 9 years and have grown attached to my dogs. I wish the prices were less. It usually cost me about $100 per day because I have 3 dogs. read more

We take our Shitzu to get groomed with Teresa. She is so loving and gentle with him. He is nervous about the whole grooming process. We also got a hamster for our son there and the salesperson gave us a lot of education on hamsters and hamster care and needs. It wasn't at all like the above reviewers comment. We also get food and toys there too. read more

I left my little Cockapoo at this PetsHotel for two days this past weekend. I called to check on her on Sunday and they told me she was doing well. When I picked her up on Monday and we walked outside, I immediately noticed that she had a lot of goop in both of her eyes. So, I turned around and took her back inside to the Banfield Pet Hospital. They took one look at her and said she had infected eyes. Her eyes had been fine when I dropped her off that Friday. Although PetSmart paid for her treatment, I felt terrible for her having to go through this. Additionally, when she tried to bark and/or "talk", she was very hoarse, which means that they had let her cry a long time because she will cry for hours if I leave her alone at home. PetsHotel had my phone # and they should have called me re: her crying. Lastly, she smelled "pissy" when I picked her up, which indicates that they had not taken her out often enough to urinate. I am very displeased and angry over the way my little dog was treated. read more

Brandie in the grooming department was amazing!! My dogs are pills when it comes to getting their nails done, and most people give up on them. She was so patient, and my dog did really well with her. We will be back! read more

the store itself is a typical petsmart and fine. i love their doggy day care and have always had good experiences there. i do not however recommend their grooming facility. i've taken my dogs a few times only because my regular groomer was booked. but i'll just wait next time or do it myself. all 3 visits, they never trimmed the hair under the eyes / on top of the nose (can't see and hair pokes into their eyes) or their privates -- those are the two most important places to trim the hair! my dogs even came out with old eye boogies every single time! what tha? also, i have stood at the front desk and seen other people come in and stand for literally 5 or more minutes and never get any acknowledgment "i'll be right with you." or anything ... NADA and on multiple occasions and there were at least 5 or 6 employees standing RIGHT THERE. i've walked out and seen other folks on different occasions walk out. seems like good management and/or training back in the grooming dept. is either really lacking or the folks goof off when mgt isn't there. i dont' know which, but i wouldn't recommend them. read more

I have been to this store and the other Petsmart locations in Austin. This one is a little out of the way for me but I always get great service from the employees, so it is worth the trip! read more

This Petsmart is INCREDIBLE. It is so rare to have a positive experience with each and every employee, but no matter what dept I'm in (register, dog food, cat supplies, etc.), I always have the best assistance with such a friendly staff! read more

It is a good store to buy petsupplies, such as supplies for small animals like hamsters. But seriously, for dogs and cats it shoots up the roof in prices. The toys are really good, hard to find toys are available at petsmart. But NEVER buy an animal without checking your sources, internet etc. Sometimes they have underlying health problems that would cause you more effort that intially required. But other than these small problems, petsmart is the place to go for small supplies for your pet. read more

They have the rudest staff. We went there to exchange our leopard gecko, and after we said, "because this leopard gecko hisses and bites" the man said to the lady aside "if they are exchanging leopard geckos for kindness, they're going to be coming every 3 days", and they snickered. after we exchanged geckos, the cashier, who has nothing to do with the exchanging business said "did he die?" right when we approached him, and that made me think that he think that he thinks that i am a bad owner. I have lots of experience with reptiles. when we got our original gecko, the man who got it for us kept rushing us. we were trying to choose a pet that we were gonna spend 20 years with, and he just gave us 30 seconds to choose. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS STORE!!!!!!! read more

Bought an approximately $40 pet bed by Top Paws that says it has memory gel foam. But, if you read the fine print, the memory gel is not in the bed portion but on the surrounding rim of the bed. We bought it about 5-6 months ago and noticed it has a hole in it. Also, I unzipped it and the bed portion has shredded foam. So very disappointed in that item. Not worth the $40+ dollars. read more

I called and made an appointment to get my dog groomed and nails clipped. The appointment was at 2:00; I had her there shortly before that time; when I went back at 6:00 (which is the time they said she would be ready) they hadn't even started on her. The trip to the groomers is very dramatic for her so I couldn't believe they hadn't started and what made matters worse was that the girl that was supposed to be taking care of my dog had gone on break. I asked to speak to the manager. She showed up quickly and gathered up the girl and then said it would be another 30-45 minutes before my dog would be ready. Well, instead of leaving and coming back again, I stood there in the grooming department and waited. Hmmmmmm.......suddenly it only took about 20 minutes. The only good thing that came out of this trip was they did not charge me. Needless to say, it'll be a cold day you know where before I put my dog through that again. read more

I always come to this Petsmart for my cat food, toys, supplies, etc. But I will never be back to the PetsHotel. My pets have reluctantly stayed there several times and on the last visit in particular I was upset for a few reasons. First, the staff couldn't care less about the pets staying there. Whenever we drop our dog off, we always get a feeling like the people working at the PetsHotel are counting the hours until their shift is over. When we're away, we like to call to check up on our pets. When we called to ask how our dog is doing in day camp (because my husband likes to hear that she's having a good time) we always get a canned response - that's she's "Doing well in play group and eating all of her food." Yeah, we know. She's a big smiley dog of course she loves play group and food. This last time when we picked her up, my husband saw her being taken out of a crate for a small dog - she weighs 50lbs! When we asked why she was not in a big dog kennel, the response was that she had still been marked as a 'puppy' in their system, so she was assigned a small cage and they were all booked up in the big ones. We said what about 2 weeks ago when she stayed here? You didn't see that she was a 50 lb dog then? Was she in a small cage then too? To me, this is completely unacceptable. To think that my dog was stuck in the small dog cage the whole night made me sick. On top of that, when we left she peed longer than I've ever seen her go in the over a year that we've had her. I will NOT be back. read more

I have not had any problems with the staff and my dog seems happy when she leaves. However, the restrooms are ALWAYS in horrible condition. The haven't bother to fix the broken toilet paper holders or paper towel holders for months and months. Paper rolls sitting on the toilets or on top of the toilet paper holder; totally unhygienic!...toliets running, clogged or don't flush. I am sure the toilet paper rolls fall on the floor and people just pick them up and put them back on the top of the holders or toilet and then unsuspecting people actually use this toilet paper that has ROLLED AROUND ON A PUBLIC BATHROOM FLOOR. And the paper toweldispenser has been broken for months. The front is open and the towels have to be ripped off the roll. The paper towels are dirty from people dripping water all over them after they wash their hands and they reach for a paper towel since the dispenser front is open and you can't get individual clean paper towels. They should be reported to the State Dept of Health. This place obviously makes a TON of money and they have bathrooms that a third-word country would be ashamed of. Is this not illegal for these kind of unsanitary conditions to be in a place of business? They are spreading germs to unsuspecting customers. What is the phone number of the State Dept of Health so a citation and/or fine can be issued so they correct this disgusting and unsafe situation??! read more

My girlfriend took her 5 year old cat Sam to this location for the first time on Saturday 4/11/15 to get a routine dental cleaning and shots with Banfield. She got a call later that day that he had bitten one of the Technicians, and scratched a Vet. Thirty min to an hour later she got another call that he was not breathing, and was asked by the Vet how long he should perform CPR? Not sure if that's a question to ask someone that is not a trained professional or not, but it seemed a little callous and unprofessional. We were told that they netted him, covered him with a towel, gave him the same ammount of sedative that was listed on his chart, left the room for a while, came back and he was blue. The Vet said that it would cost 150.00 to get his ashes. Petsmart is big business, they do not care about our animals, only dollar signs. Sam's bowl sits untouched, his footprints still on the carpet, his presence is sorely missed. Unsure what to do at this point. I know it's not PetSmart directly, but Banfield's actions definately reflect on PetSmart's decision to have them in house. read more

I like them. Have to say, if I had read some of these reviews prior to our first visit, I may not have come, and that would have been a shame, as I have found all of the Vets that have treated my dogs to be very present and concerned. There is a bit of a wait, but not an annoying one! They are busy! That usually means someone is doing something right! Dr. P has done outstanding work on all of my Dogs' teeth, including my 2 yr. old Dachsie with a severely infected canine. In his case, I thank God Dr. P saw through the nonsense I had been told by the previous Vet and took care of his problem immediately! So, I'm grateful. They always seem to be helpful and friendly, and the "young" staff at the front desk, is not actually that young and are extremely well trained as Vet assistants. They are easy to talk to and know their stuff. Believe me, I have seen the opposite (at our old Vet, of course--attitude and arrogance beyond belief!), so do know what gives. I like the Pet Wellness Plan because it helps me to remember and keep on track with their needs. I also like that when my pups are at the PetsHotel, the clerks there will deliver them for appointments at Banfield if need be. Very accommodating! And very nice to all of my dogs, barking or not! So, I would recommend trying this Pet Hospital before throwing it overboard due to some bad reviews; they are worth that! We are happy. My dogs are healthy and well cared for. Wish I could add a photo! read more
