I buy most of my cats' food and supplies here, and am pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoy this store. The staff are friendly, there are always adorable doggies and kitties up for adoption (if only I could...), and they tend to have fully stocked shelves (note to Barbara Jordan Petsmart!). Also, they have a fairly good selection of higher-end cat food and, better yet, it goes on sale with some regularity. Case in point, I bought a bunch of Blue Buffalo cans today at 89 cents for the smaller ones and 99 cents for the big ones. My car's on the fritz, so I decided to buy enough for the next 3 weeks or so. With my Petsmart Rewards card, I saved $11 bucks! Yes, I miss Pet Supplies Plus (waaaaay too far north here, used to be close-ish to me in Chicago), but this will do. I'd shop local if I could, but my grad student stipend precludes this when it comes to pet supplies. For now, Petsmart will have to do...and it does a pretty good job! read more

Lisa at the front was the only person in the store that would help me. And she did it while already busy with a line of customers. Mean while in the employees only area I could see atleast three other employees screwing around walking in and out seemingly doing nothing. Lisa, you're the realist. Everyone else who watched me wander around a petSmart for 15 mins trying to find one thing, just wow... read more

The only reason I'm giving a five star review is because the girl who trims my pugs nails is AMAZING! Her name is Kimber and she's so great! She took her time to Dremel his nails because they are black and hard to clip because you can't tell where the quick is. I just think she's amazing. Won't let anyone else clip my dogs nails! read more

I am a loyal customer of the PetSmart Doggy Day Care and Pets hotel for more than two years now. The staff here are SO caring and take such good care of my two pups (Ray and Shiloh!) - one a bit older and the other a bit younger. The customer service is exceptional, with the reservation and checking in/our process being efficient and professional. Best part - the dogs can tell when we are going there and they get excited. Thank you PetSmart! read more

The store might be ok when the pet food brand and flavor you want is in stock and you don't have to suffer the antics of a bewildered, under-trained staff. It seems clean and well-lit, with plenty of parking, and convenient to the south end of town. However, today I dropped by to pick up a bag of Science Diet dry cat food, which was in stock, then decided not to purchase after encountering gratuitous impertinence at the checkout counter. In fairness the clerk may have been new or inexperienced. In the past they've mostly been at least bearable. Months ago, after enough of not being able to buy a major brand there consistently, and watching the confused faces of two clerks who (a) took turns awkwardly going back and forth to check stock, (b) seemed utterly puzzled that Wellness turkey & salmon also comes in 12.5 oz. cans, and then (c) suggested special ordering, I gave up. Even though I'd rather buy local, it became apparent that Amazon, while arguably less earth friendly, would be a better solution. I recycle the cardboard and hope the fuel I don't use offsets the home delivery somewhat. Because not going to this unusually frustrating store for the last few months has been a pleasure, and stopping there today was a foolish mistake. read more

What can I say? PetSmart is conveniently located 5 minutes from my house and they have pretty much everything I need for my puppy. The staff are friendly and it's relatively clean. I like how they have a pretty decent variety of pet food and treats. I'd rather shop local, but it helps me out in a pinch. It is what it is. It's WAY better than Petco and they have a pretty great rewards program. You save TONS of money. read more

I love this store! It never smelled like animals and I always found what I needed at a reasonable price. They did a fun costume contest for dogs and cats. I don't use their grooming services so no comment there and that service is excluded from this review/stars. Employees always friendly and helpful. One word of caution - when I got an "in store credit" they put it on gift cards - the cards were empty when I went to use them. So always ask the clerk to check the card before you walk out the store. read more

Came in close to closing. The women who helped me was great other than she kept looking at her watch (which is understandable). New puppy starter kit a little over 300 bucks. Not cheap but I didn't shop around. I live down town so I wish there was something closer. read more

Do not use this grooming salon or store! I almost didn't write a review after having a terrible experience with the groomer here but I had another bad experience with the store part today. Grooming salon: I took my dog in just before Thanksgiving for a full groom. Online it says $34 but turns out it's about $60 for a small shih tzu (about 6 pounds). I would be fine with that if they actually did their job. I took him in at 11:00 am and it was an absolute mess in the salon. Should have been a red flag but I figured that's because they do walk ins as well. I ask the girl to trim everything down short except his ears and tail because I like them long. Easy enough you'd think. Wrong. I come back 4 hours later when I didn't get a call and they said "oh we forgot to call but he's ready to go". His card says he had been a good boy so I thought all was well. THEY FORGOT TO CUT HIS HEAD AND FACE!! I asked the lady what happened and she said it's what I asked for. I understand you don't have to be the brightest to get this job but seriously? She said she can take him in another hour but I didn't have time to wait so I said I would bring him back the next day. Well the next day the manager is out so they apparently can't do anything without him. I call the next day to make sure the manager will be there and he says yes and he's super rude on the phone saying he will not groom him unless I pay him $10 extra. Sooo I paid for a full service groom which you DIDN'T give me and now I have to pay more?? My boyfriend took him in for me while I called corporate and let them know how incompetent and disrespectful the manager here was. The guy on the phone at the corporate office said he was trying to screw me over (his words exactly) because they have a 100% satisfaction guarantee. My boyfriend let him know this so he didn't charge us which led me to not write the review. Fast forward to today, I was unfortunate enough to be in the older lady's checkout line while trying to buy my dogs food. She had no idea what was going on and she was super rude! 3 people at other registers that walked up after me finished checking out before me. I wasn't in a rush but geeez at least be polite to customers if they are having to wait so long on you. Done shopping at this location. read more

I just drove in from Wimberley with my dog to be groomed only to be told it would be 4 hours long. When I booked my appointment, no one indicated it would take that long and the groomer had increments of 30 minute sessions. Very inconsiderate to assume I could drop my dog off with our notifying me. I do not recommend this establishment. read more

I don't know why this place doesn't have more stars. Don't be fooled by the fact that Petsmart is a huge chain; this is a great store because everyone who works here really really LOVES animals. As a store- the prices are high- a lot of the same products can be found at Target for less money. Shop for stuff which is on sale (you need a membership but that's free) and buy other stuff elsewhere if you can. You can find pet accessories at TJ Maxx or somewhere like that for a fraction of the cost. The Grooming salon- I haven't ever really had my dog groomed so I can't say for sure. She's only had a bath and brush and she always comes out looking fantastic. If you're going for actual grooming just be aware that the grooming salon is really chaotic so if your dog isn't really well adjusted watch out for that. My dog is naturally high-strung but we've always exposed her to busy environments since she was a puppy so she's used to it. The PetsHotel & Doggy Day Camp. Highly recommend. They are cheaper than a lot of other places and the day camp sessions are behind glass so everyone in the store can see. Every time I've gone there you can see that the dogs are actively playing, not just laying around. Since the glass is there you know nothing bad is going on, but honestly everyone who works there really loves dogs so it's not like they're going to be abusive. Prices are reasonable for boarding but they will try to upsell you. One thing I've noticed is that my dog doesn't eat much when she's there; I think it's b/c she's too excited. Unless you pay extra for a private room (which we had to when she was a puppy in heat), they are kenneled in a big room with other dogs, so that may be on the stimulating side. Training- I only took her to the basic puppy training; it was a good experience over all. everything we learned there could easily be learned from a book or from reading online, but it's a good opportunity for socialization in a controlled environment (UNLIKE the dog park) and also to watch the trainers in action. Sarah Bond, who conducted our class, is really excellent with dogs and it was interesting to watch her body language and learn from that. Additional pro- convenient location in Sunset Valley. The only cons I can think of are the high prices on products, the "big-box" atmosphere, and the fact that sometimes you have to wait quite a bit for service, whether that's checking in at the grooming salon/hotel or cashier. read more

We left our dog with them for a week when we had to leave town quickly for a family emergency. When we got her back she somehow had injuries even though we asked that they keep her away from any sort of group playtime since she is a recent adoptee that has had no socialization. They have no outdoor areas and so she's forced to learn to defecate/pee inside which is a terrible habit for a dog to learn (they do not ever tell you this when you sign up). The front desk staff are young, HS staff that answer most questions with 'I dont know'. read more

This is our "go to" for all our pet supplies. We also adopted our sweet kitty from here a few months back. We were a little disappointed with the up keep of the fishes. Several of them appeared to be distressed and nipping at other fish's fins. There were also several dead fishes on the filtration systems, which was upsetting to see. Overall, friendly staff and good customer service, with reasonable prices. read more

My dog visited this location every three weeks or so for a nail trim and grind. The groomers don't require an appointment for the nail trim and grind, which means I usually brought the pup along when I had to pick up food. The groomers were great and with her and understood when she had accidents due to excitement. I have nothing but great things to say about the groomers. The only downside of this location is that it can get very busy, especially on weekends. My dog is really skittish and terrified of larger dogs. If your dog has some anxiety issues, it's probably best to bring them on a slower day. read more

I don't usually write reviews. I just have to so everyone will know about Sara at the Brodie location. She grooms both of my dogs and does a great job. My dogs look great and I can relax knowing sara will take great care of them. Thank You Sara. read more

First time I brought my dog to doggy daycare all went well, my Bichon mix must have had a good time, more than I thought she would. Let's just say she's a mommy dog and is never far from me. I checked in the play area at the glass window and she was walking around and doing great, the employee was petting the dogs, nice. I brought my Cotton home and she was exhausted and sleeping well. I booked a weekend boarding to see how my pup does even though I was home those days but since she has never been boarded before I need to have a plan for my future trips. Check in was fine, I went over the option of boarding with day care for those days. I came prepared with Cottons bedding, and a full supply of piddle pads for her kennel overnight because this older dog gets up in the middle of the night to go, just like her mom :) the Employee said that because my dog was a senior she would be taken out of her kennel often. I still asked to leave pads down for her. I received a nice email with her photo that weekend. I called the desk on Saturday night to check on pup and the girl came back on the phone and said Cottons eyes were drippy. What??? They were fine at drop off and this has never been a problem. Girl said she'd leave a note overnight for he eyes to be checked then too. I got no call overnight so I assumed all was better. Pickup time: eyes still drippy, check out was quick, pay and go I did have to remind them to go back and get her bedding. Re: drippy eyes I saw another reviewer had this same problem with her dogs eyes. Outside on the way to car Cotton took a dump like she had it in her all weekend. Did she even poop while she was their? Then the pee kept coming like a faucet, did she even pee while she was boarded? When I got home with her I had some new box eye antibiotic gel that I never used in cabinet from a cat I no longer have. It took a couple days for her eyes to clear up and with self treating no vet bill. Course if it wasn't better I would have had to take her in to Vet. I also read another review that their dog peed a lot after her stay too. I wish the employees gave updates if they took the dog to a room to pee/poop and kept track of it and keep them in that space til they go. I had another trip coming up for 5 days and this reminds me I need to cancel boarding at Petsmart Hotel, I found a much better boarding for Cotton that was open to my request of piddle pads in the overnight kennel and all my other requests too, and they are 2 bucks less than Petsmart including daycamp which I the daycamp i have already tried. Pups & Pals on S. 1st and this boarding/day camp is so darn cute too- and clean! not that Cotton cares, but I do! -check their website and yelp reviews) I need to add my review there after her boarding with them. So bottom line if you are in a pinch and can't find anyplace else to bring your dog then use Petsmart hotel, if you have someplace else use that instead. read more

First, I would like to state that I have worked in customer service industry for over 20 years now. I understand we all have our bad days, but this cashier has no business accepting a paycheck as a employee. Never once smiled. The cashier acted put out that I was trying to purchase something that required her to leave the terminal to retrieve. The place she had to walk to was less than a foot away from her register; and, after spending less than five minutes looking for the product, she returned (further put out) to tell me she didn't see the product and they might not have it but would i be willing to purchase the 6 month dosage (at twice the price). I wanted to ask why they had so many product tags to bring to the cashier when they didn't have the stock. (this is the 2nd time I have had to opt for a higher price b/c they continue to display a product they don't have in stock). But because of her attitude I didn't want to add to her misery by asking a common sense question to someone who obviously didn't care. So I paid over 140 dollars and drove home. That was when I discovered that she had given me the wrong product. I had given her a tag for a dog that weighs between 11-20 pds. She gave me Frontline for a dog that is over 80 pds. I wasn't able to make it back to the store in time to get either my money back or the right product. So my dog suffers, my bank account suffers, and any further patronage to PETSMART (on my part) has suffered. The Customer Service was Shameful. read more

This review is for the grooming department. I took in my 2.5 year old Lab-Pitt mix with a prior foot injury to get his nails done- the pawdicure treatment. He's a big boy and sensitive when it comes to people handling his injured paw, but they managed him very well. One of the groomers with downtime even comforted him during his appointment! I was greeted promptly and Drake was taken care of immediately. His nails are nice and smooth and everything was taken care of within 10 minutes. You can tell the groomers there love animals, and it's a bonus that they work well with people too! We will be regulars here! read more

I have been a loyal customer of this PetSmart on Brodie Lane for over 10 years. Right after covid allowed us to come back - I did! I have also been using the same Vet Doc for over 10 years because he is genuine and sincerely cares about the animals he sees. However, he is a very lo-tech operation and handwrites his receipts. Which, apparently PetSmart doesn't understand. Today, when I came in for my pet's grooming appt I was told their policy wouldn't allow handwritten rabbies vac receipts - even tho they were allowed in the past 10 years. The Petsmart staff couldn't produce the actual policy or show me where it was written - they just told me to come back when I had a computer generated Vet receipt. THIS IS HOW PETSMART TREATS A LOYAL CUSTOMER OF 10 YEARS :( No worries, I live in a great city that loves animals so.... PETSMART YOU ARE THE DIRT UNDER MY SHOES because I have found a much better groomer that welcomes me and my beloved furry family. read more

Grooming department is a joke! I called to get some pricing for my pet aka member of the family and instead of getting quality information I get doubt. The woman started talking about how she grooms all the animals in the same room and it is loud and as long as your pet is comfortable with that environment they should be fine. WHAT?!?!? Why would you put an animal that is already in a stressful situation (because they are out of their comfort zone) into an even more stressful environment. Then I get this explanation that made me think my animal would get hurt or cut, so I question the person I am speaking too and she says "Oh I wasn't talking about your pet I was talking about me, I don't want to get cut or hurt"... WOW needless to say I am giving my business to Plush Pad off of Anderson Lane. Thanks Yelp for giving a good lead on a quality business that cares about their clients. read more

I have used the dog "hotel" twice in hopes to find my jack russell a good place to stay when I am out of town...and failed. Each time I have picked her up she had to pee so bad she barely made it out the door or she had an accident on her bed which is ridiculous because sometimes I work up to 8 hours a day and come home and she still has held it..(never once an accident) so I am worried that they have completely lied and left her for very long hours. I will have to agree with one of the last reviews-- she was so thirsty when she came home she kept drinking like it had been days since she had seen water...seems like they are very neglectful there. Also the virtual tour that they have is bogus. I peeked in the back and its barred cages just like the pound. Do not go here thinking it is some extra comfortable place (you are paying for comfort that is not there.) DO NOT GO HERE unless you want a very thirsty sad puppy. read more

I just had the worst experience at the grooming salon. Apparently they book 3 dogs per groomer per hour, the employees are stressed, the dogs are stressed and the Manager Jason could care less. I've taken my dog to other groomers, vets, and boarding facilities and my dog has never been as stressed, panting, and wanting to escape as much as she does this place. You drop your dog off and they call you 3-4 hours later. What they don't tell you is that your dog is sitting in a cage stressed for hours while the groomer is working on two other dogs ahead of you (and yes I showed up 5 minutes early for my appointment). And then there are the rude employees who have the attitude if you don't like it maybe you should take your dog someplace else. (Yes, I actually had an employee say that to me as well as I was not welcomed there and then ripped her name tag off and told me I did not have a right to know her name)..and the Manager (Jason) who was standing right there who actually condones the employees speaking to customers this way, was only concerned with texting on his phone rather than taking care of the customer. If how they treat people is any indication of how they treat their dogs, then my dog will never set her paws in this place again! Absolutely horrible experience! read more

I will start this review by saying that while I am not a dedicated PetSmart shopper, my pups and I frequent the store as it is close to our house and the general staff have always been very polite and helpful. THAT ENDED TODAY! I will NEVER shop here again. My interaction with the manager of the store was rude and condescending at best. Earlier in the day I went in to price a pet ramp for my 14yr and 11yr old dogs. It was cheaper online and I asked if they price matched - I was told they do, except for Amazon.com (which was substantially cheaper, so that makes since) Petco.com had it on sale for $20 more than Amazon, but also $20 less than PetSmart, so I needed to think it over, we left but then later returned, deciding $20 to have it today would be worth the price difference... BIG MISTAKE! THIS IS NOT WHY I WROTE THIS REVIEW: There was a very long line and rather than be the kind of person to get to the register and hold up the line with a price match I decided to find a sales associate on the floor to help me before getting in line. Product in hand I stopped the first person in uniform I saw, I explained that I needed to get the item price matched, and before I could even finish my sentence he cut me off in a very condescending tone "Well first off that's our brand, see it says "Top Paw", that's our brand, they don't sell that anywhere else so we cant price match it". Confused by this (since I first found it online, on Amazon) I replied back "Um, Im not sure what Top Paw is, but the brand is Solvit (points to box) and product name and model number (again on box) match this exact product online (shows him petco's site), it's also on Amazon, but I know you don't pricematch Amazon"... this did not go over well. salesman: "Well that may be, but we don't pricematch online prices, there prices are lower online than instore. I have to call the nearest store to confirm the instore price" He calls - inquires about ramp - put on hold - "Ok, thanks" - looks back to me in very short/rude tone: "They don't have it in store, it's online only". -awkward pause - me, unapologetically at this point: "OK, I guess we will have to buy it online then." It's was so obvious he didn't want to help me price match in the first place. Dogs in tow, we left the store empty handed. THIS IS WHY I WROTE THIS REVIEW: After leaving the store, the interaction still didn't sit right with me. It wasn't because I didn't get the item pricematched, I could get it on Amazon way cheaper anyway, it was the way the employee handled the situation - I left frustrated and quite frankly the more I thought about it I began to feel upset!! I called the store and asked to speak to a manager - manager on phone, explained situation - I don't want anything I just wanted them to know they had an employee (name unknown) that cost them a customer due to his attitude. They apologized for the situation and then reluctantly let me know they already know of the situation... the employee I had been interacting with was the STORE MANAGER!! He had just left for the day but before he did he let everyone working the front lanes know that if I came to the register to buy the item not to give me Any Discounts.... REALLY! I had already left the store. First off, I will NEVER GIVE YOU MY MONEY AGAIN, so don't worry about that. But what pisses me off enough to write this review is that he felt he needed to take additional measures to insure I couldn't "be shady" by trying to get the discount through another employee??? WOW JUST WOW! read more

Tonight's visit was EXCEPTIONAL! I went in looking for a prescription therapeutic diet, pretty specific: Royal canin, low calorie urinary formula. A few minutes passed and she came back out, saying that they were out of the food. I had just sat in rush hour traffic and wasn't looking forward to searching at Slaughter Lane......but I didn't have to! Erin said that she would sell me 3 little bags for the price of the 1 huge bag. How awesome! I like the Petsmart because they have the vet in the store where I can pick up my prescription cat food from.
