If you love your pet, find a better place to take them. I brought my cat in for a growth under her eyelid that became visible after she scratched it profusely. I was told she had a tooth infection and a double ear infection. I had them administer the injectable antibiotic (that didn't change her condition and I had to get an oral antibiotic at the follow up appointment) I was told, 'she doesn't have fleas but she should be on a flea med'. I said, she's an indoor cat. Dr. Brown said, she can still get fleas. Needless to say, I rejected the $147 90 day supply of flea meds! Notice I didn't mention the doctor prescribed anything for her eye. I took her back 2 weeks later for a follow up appointment and her eye was the same. Dr. Brown ran more test that were negative and then said, there are cat ophthalmologist. If she didn't know how to treat her initially, that's what she should have said. The following day the staff called for a follow up. I had researched things online and asked a question. I was told, I'd have to bring her back in for a follow up to have my question answered! WHAT?! It was a yes/no question AND she was just seen by the doctor the day before. A money grab. I do not recommend them. Proceed as you chose. read more

Came into here this morning to get my family's cat groomed, my mom made the appointment over the website and made the necessary arrangements for him to be shaved, and bathed, and have his nails clips due to his matting (he is a big boy and cannot groom his back on his own) me and my grandmother walked in at exactly 9am and quite literally no joke, at 9:01 am were asked to leave because he hissed at one of the groomers. I'm no professional but, this is your job! The groomer looked at both of us, hands shaking, and said "I CANNOT be bitten by a cat" "We cannot do aggressive cats here" "He hissed at me" "you're gonna have to take him somewhere else" mind you, she did not, upon opening his carrier, introduce him to HER, someone he has never met, or his new environment, give him any kind of treat/nourishment, pet him, or even give him the time of day upon seeing him. This review is about one specific worker, i do not remember her name, nor do I care to know, but she had an eyebrow piercing. The other one was off on the side also not doing anything of importance. I took it upon myself, ignoring her hysterical nature despite claiming to be a "professional" to take my own cat out of the box. He was aggressively picked up carrier and was attempted to be forcefully leashed (He is a cat. He has never been leashed.) without prior introduction or hospitality. I'm not sure what training these groomers are receiving but, if you cannot even handle a 16 pound cat hissing at you, what exactly are you doing with the 40 pound dogs you see everyday? If you are scared of being hissed at, why are you working as a groomer? We also came to get a new carrier for my cat because the one he came in was falling apart due to age. The manager helped us with after she was CALLED in to be asked if it's "okay to shave out his matted fur" which I literally said was okay, because he is my cat and we as a family are aware of what he needs. Thank you to the manager who i also do not remember the name of but she had a stretched septum, for helping put together a new carrier that he could leave comfortably in. The one star is ONLY going to her, and the women at the front who was drinking dunkin while me and my grandmother searched for a new carrier. I understand if you are not used to handling cats, but you need to learn how to actually do your jobs if you claim what it says on the back of the grooming room door "ANYTHING FOR PETS" obviously not if you can't handle a hiss. He is a cat! He's going to hiss! He's an animal! My mom called after the initial interaction and was lied to, saying the groomer was the one who took him out the box. This was my first time at this store. I had a grooming appointment at 8am for my pet Nilla. I waited in my vehicle until 735am. I walked in the grooming salon and waited. I greeted the 3 black females saying good morning ladies. They were talking amongst themselves. There were no animals present. The female name Ebony asked can she help me? I told her I had an appointment at 8am. She rolled her eyes and mumbled something to the other females and turned her back away from me. I was confused and thought I did something wrong. The other lady seen the complex look on my face and asked me my dog's name. I reply Nilla. She started to talk and Ebony walked up and said I need you to understand to Never bring your dog in this early it creates tension with other animals. I told her I can wait back in my vehicle until 8 am it's not a problem. She reply No! Just understand don't come in early. The way she talked to me I was shock and felt disrespected . I was concern about the services my sweet girl will receive. I told her she is unprofessional and has a nasty attitude for no reason. Glad we stopped in here for dog food as we had a nice conversation with Melissa (I believe) and she helped us with a few things. a) we previously purchased puppy food but we should have purchased large breed puppy food. b) training treats we picked up had tons of crap in it (think McDonalds) so she helped us read the labels and purchase healthier options. Completely unprofessional. Went in today for a cat nail trim and staff was busy on phone call. After she hung up she completely ignored me and walked away, no "we'll be right with you." Completely ignored. It was.l very rude and I felt disrespected. Tells me trim was $15 though I had literally been in the store before and when I asked for the price they had said $13. Afterwards another staff member asked me to get the cat out of the carrier. So I did. Then she tells me to put it back. She says I have to hold her down while she put the harness on her. I understand her reasoning but I would have wished she had explained her intentions beforehand since it was my first time at the groomer's and I didn't really know the procedures. I had high hopes for finding a place to bring my boy Rerun. 21 lb chihuahua mix. The gentlemen that checked me in was well mannered and friendly. All went well until I was about to leave and I asked how do they work going potty. I didn't like the fact that all the dogs were suppose to relieve themselves right there where they were playing. Eww. But it gets cleaned up immediately by staff, I was told. I said the the gentlemen my dog probably wouldn't go. After reading the reviews it's not a wonder dogs went home wet and smelling like . A friend of mine adopted a cat from them. On the paperwork from the previous owner, they said the cat was "mean" and had attacked their other cat. Knowing this , they should have never have placed this cat for adoption in the first place. But my friend trusted them that the cat was actually very friendly. He ended up being attacked so viciously by this cat that he ended up in the hospital and unable to use either of his hands. He said the cat kept coming back at him and tried to attack his face even. He returned the cat to PetSmart and the rescue employees were rude and nasty to him. Then a few days later he discovered that they had placed his picture as well as his name and his girlfriend's name on the internet as well as insinuating that he was dangerous and abusive. Friends of his were sending the screenshot to him. Of course you realize that in addition to this rescue negligence and reckless behavior with this cat now they have also overstepped the line to defamation and slander. I will make sure that this story continues to be told until this rescue us no longer operating out of your stores. I am horrified at thinking of how I would feel if this was done to me! They were just lucky that he is older and doesn't have any little kids that might have been severely injured. Another thing I worry about is someone might see this post and believe their accusations causing them to go to his home and do harm to him or his family.Furthermore when I tell you that he is one of the kindest good hearted people that I know, I'm not exaggerating. He has had other cats and gave them loving homes. He did not deserve this. People who don't know him are commenting on their post calling him all kinds of sick names and saying they are glad the cat attacked him. It's horrible. Like PetsMart for supplies. Scheduled an appointment for a rabies shot. Came and there was a scale on the floor, raised an inch, totally flat. Took several minutes before machine agreed with me; said she was 50 pounds. Then she has to hold still for a temperature under her arm??????? Then her pulse was checked. Vet comes in and tries putting scope in her ear, while she's on the floor. I am thinking the whole time, she just needs a rabies shot - had clean bill of health. And then vet says she's nervous to which I reply, "You're examining her on the floor. She's used to vet offices having a table. And next thing you know, without asking me, she muzzles her - standard poodle - never in her life and I had to turn away for fear of how I was about to react. Vet takes it off and tells me she has to protect herself & staff and tells me I can leave if I want but she insisted on muzzle. Then I see her grabbing my dog's feet. I say she doesn't like her paws touched. Vet says all the more reason to muzzle her because I need to grab each foot. I think vet is in the wrong business & it reflects poorly on PetsMart. This vet is not fit to treat a goldfish. And her attitude proved that as well. Who doesn't listen to the pet parent. This review is strictly for this petsmart- specifically, their doggie day camp. My boyfriend dropped our 5 month old lab mix for doggie day camp (along with vet records indicating he was a lab mix) and the curt employee named Tricia screening dogs stated that he "looked" like he had some pit in him and that he wouldn't be allowed to play with other dogs. She did not care that vet records indicated that he was a LAB MIX, and there was no indication anywhere that he had any pit bull in him. She based her screening solely on the way SHE thought that he looked- which is absurd. I called this store 2 days prior to starting doggie day camp and it was NEVER mentioned that employees have the discretion to segregate dogs based upon appearance. Leo LOVES playing with other dogs and enjoys puppy classes and trips to the dog park. He is very sweet and well behaved. Unfortunately, because of one employee's ignorant observation, our dog is being discriminated against. He was unable to play with other dogs and kept in a cage by himself until I could leave work early to pick him up. Um, hello... I could have done that at home. The whole reason why Leo was going to day camp was for SOCIAL INTERACTION WITH OTHER DOGS! Tricia did not offer my dog a temprament test, she based her discrimination on her perception that he "looked" like a mix that had pit in him. The kicker- Leo had been to the vet in this location 20 feet away from the doggie day camp and the vet labeled him as a lab mix and verified that he did not see any pit in our dog! This woman who screened Leo this morning did not care about any of that- she was the most ignorant, biased, miserable employee and I am beyond disappointed for Leo. I sure will not frequent this location again based on this one employee's sheer ignorance. Perhaps she needs glasses, my dog is not a pit bull. read more

We have transitioned both our dog and our cat to grain free non-Chinese origin food and Petsmart seems to have an adequate supply of these items. Dropped my little dogs off for boarding and grooming. Female came back to me with UTI because they only walk them so they can relieve themselves once every 12 hours! So many dogs in one small space, 3 tiers stacked! All that barking...it's a nightmare. The groomers are mostly teens and my dogs came back with gashes in their fur. Had my three dogs at the hotel for three days at the Springfield, Pa location. When I picked them up at 9:15 they were very anxious to go potty. My smaller dog couldn't hold it no longer and urinated in the store. My oldest dogs rushed outside to go potty. OMG, he peed so long and pooped twice and my smaller one did the same even after urinating in the store. I believe they did not take my dogs to the bathroom that morning. Makes me wonder if they were properly taken care of during their stay. Had no problem with the eight month old pup, she goes potty anywhere. This renovated ToysRUs building has been transformed into a nice new PetSmart - yes it's a huge chain and it still looks like a dumpy toy store from the outside - but the pet care services are impressive and the cheapest I've seen in the area. When my favorite pet sitters were booked up I took a chance on the PetsHotel for my dog in April. Services are offered a la carte. Hours are flexible. The decor is overly cheesy, it's like a Disney World for dogs. I could have easily booked a package for as low as $25 a night. But for my pampered pup I paid about $60 for a 2 day 1 night stay (dropped my dog off @ 8am Sat picked him up @ 4pm Sun) which included: private dog suite, fully enclosed room with a tv, cot, lambswool blanket and 3 walks each day (walks are done in an indoor space); two 30 minute play sessions with other dogs; one 30 minute individual play session. PetsHotel even gave me a report card - a pawgress report - listing categories like Food, Potty, Fun, Bed and Overall. Needless to say, my dog received excellent remarks. I have never had a problem checking my dog in or out of this hotel. That being said - I will not be bringing my dog back here to board for one very important reason: even with the kennel cough vaccination, my dog came home with kennel cough on two separate occasions. When I called Petsmart to report this, they didn't seem very concerned at all and simply said "oh, okay thank you for letting us know." Worst experience ever. I would have given them a 1/2 star if I could. I'm not local to the area but needed a place for my dogs to stay while we toured Philadelphia for the day. Our camper was 50 minutes from the city and didn't want to leave them all day. I thought being a national chain I would not have any issues. Boy was I mistaken! First of all I get to Petsmart at 7:30a to drop my pups off. They tell me that my vet never faxed over the vaccination records and they can't accept the dogs. I know my vet faxed the record over because I had the confirmation!! I had to wait until my vet opened at 8:30a to re-fax the info they all ready faxed once before! We get the records straighten out and my husband and I are on our way. We return to Petsmart at 8pm to pick them up (mind you the woman behind the counter had ZERO personality! She should not be working with humans let alone my fur babies!!) we get our dogs back and they STINK!! A half a day there and my pups smelled horrible! And both got a bath before we left for our trip back home. I had to give them a shower as soon as we got back to the camper. No way were they coming inside our camper smelling like that!! We get them outside and they both went to the bathroom like no one ever let them out all day!! Both pooped and peed immediately being taken outside by us. What kind of place is this??!? I would NEVER leave my pups at ANY petsmart ever again. Petsmart in Springfield, PA you just ruined the experience for me. I wouldn't trust you with a stuffed animal let alone my pups. This review is of the PetsHotel located at this particular PetSmart. While I went off to Disney World for a week, my cat needed a place to stay and this suburban PetSmart offered the best option. It was $18/night (plus extra since he had to stay past check out the day we picked him up) and he received his own special kitty cottage. The staff is unbelievably friendly and willing to work with you regarding any issues with your pet. I called several times to check in on him and they gave me a full report over the phone. The Pawgress Report you receive when checking out also gives you a good overview of how they did there - bathroom, playing, eating, along with personal comments on their behavior/time spent at the hotel (and some coupons!). Highly recommended for cat owners (can't say for dog owners but there were plenty of happy looking pups there too!). It's a great price and close to enough the city/95/the airport that it's still convienent enough, considering the lack of reasonably priced facilities for kitties in the city. read more

This is mostly in relation to the health of PetSmart's small animals. I'm not the biggest fan of large chain establishments, but I absolutely love PetSmart. This one especially. I adopted my cat through TWAIN from this location, and love the fact that they don't sell larger pets (cats/dogs) and promote adoption instead. If We Love Pets didn't sell puppies and kittens, I'd be a bigger fan of them, but that's besides the point. I've bought three rats from PetSmart, one from PetCo, and three I've adopted and don't know their origins. The three rats from PetSmart are happy, healthy, active, have excellent tempers, and have surpassed the average lifespan of rats by over a year now. They are wonderful. The PetCo rat has three tumors, breathing issues, and skin issues. (The vet won't operate on the tumors because given the slim chance she would make it through, and that she'll keep developing mammary tumors.) It's heartbreaking. I love the little rat, but I hate PetCo. Out of the three adopted rats, one has a tumor, one has breathing issues, and one is perfectly fine. I've also had hamsters when I was younger from PetSmart, and a guinea pig, and they were in excellent health too. I don't know what goes on in the back rooms, but I have heard rumors of isolating sick pets back there. But, common sense, ill animals should always be seperated from the healthy. Sad, but still. Also, they have an excellent selection of small animal toys and bedding. (I wouldn't recommend getting a cage from them, I ordered mine online for about 100 less than what it retailed for in store.) I had an appointment for the other PetSmart on State Rd. at 12:30 they called me at 11:45 saying that had to cancel and there was no other availability that day. I was pissed! It was my only day off and I planned my entire day around it. I called this PetSmart thinking there would be no way to get an appointment same day. I spoke with Brooke (she is sooooo sweet!!) and explained what had just happened. She was so understanding and told me to come in and she'll take care of it. Omg!! She was an absolute life saver. Purchased a Reptile Aquarium in Downingtown on 5/4/2020, the cost was $200. Got it home and the filter did not work. The manager at Downingtown suggested I take it back for an exchange to the nearest location close to my home. Went to Springfield PetSmart and the manager was so nasty! She refused to look at the receipt, telling me I could NOT exchange the filter. She then suggested that I go back to the location I got it from. So much for customer service. I will never step foot into the PetSmart in Springfield again. Luckily Devon from Downingtown was sympathetic and will be exchanging the filter so my turtle can have a clean habitat. I come here with my dog Wafer for doggie daycare and overnight stays! My dog gets treated pretty well it seems and although he doesn't come here every week or anything, he seems fairly popular haha. I do wish they explain in the reports about the time out. It's not a big deal, but over the phone I was told he had a time out during play time. However nothing of the sort of written in his report when I picked up my dog. It was filled with positive details. But I don't mind if it had anything that explained if something happened, no need to butter me up. I like to know if my dog was being a bit rough because that way I know how he was. However they got him done in decent timing and when i came to pick him up the stylist said he was wonderful and did great. Seeing him walk with them he was happy and excited.
