This review is more about Banfield than my experience at PetSmart. My girl (cat) was given a prescription for Hill's and Royal Canine. The vet tech who assisted me at Banfield was phenomenal, and her willingness to help was very much appreciated. I'm new to this new process, and she provided great advice and personal experiences, which brought on a bit of calm. She's a gem to have on any team, in particular, when it comes to our fur babies. Ive been shopping at this petsmart for almost 2 years. As of recently they have not been good at customer service. S particular man who is somehow management came to help get crickets and couldn't complete the task. Then came in later in the day with a possible new costumer and waited a while by the birds and no one in site. I finally decided to wait in line to ask for help up front while he chit chatted the whole time with the cashier behind her station and said he could not help with the birds. We came in about 8:15 and they closed at 9. We knew which one we wanted. He looked at me along with the cashier like I was stupid and was very sarcastic about not being able to help. Called another pets mart and they said if we were there they would have gladly helped us. So we will be taking our bussiness there. read more

Went in after 5pm to look at a cat, and we knew we couldn't do the adoption process, but wanted to see her and hold her to see if we connected. If we did, we would go back the next day to adopt her. Ask an associate to see her and he said we couldn't because it was pass adoption time. I confirmed that we knew this, but we couldn't even see her and hold her, and we would come back to adopt her tomorrow. He said no. I am shocked at this process. I never thought they would turn away someone who was interested in adopting one of their animals. I guess they aren't really wanted to find homes for their animals. Sad!!! read more

I have been shopping at Petsmart Southlake, TX for at least 20 years with multiple pets. But I will never, never go there again. There were 2 employees standing about 15 feet from the front door blowing cigarette smoke onto customers entering and leaving the store. I had the cashier politely ask them to move themselves away from the front door so I could leave without getting smoke all over my wife, my dog and myself. They hardly moved at all. So I went back into the store and asked to speak with the manager. Yes, I was angry and I did raise my voice. Jeff, the manager then asked me to leave the store immediately or he would call the police. He was actually going to call the police on me! Unbelievable!! No apologies, nothing. As far as Petsmart go, this was a very nice store. It was one of their larger stores with all of the amenities, such as a pet hotel, as well as veterinary offices and dog training, as well as one of the bigger selections of merchandise I have seen inside of a Petsmart. It did not seem like there were very many people working there though. it was very difficult to find someone that could assist me with a few questions I had. And then, when I went to the register to check out the item that I had chosen, rang up differently than the advertise to sell price. There was no one for the cashier to call to confirm the correct price so I had to walk back to where I had got the item and snap a picture of the on sale sign in order for her to be able to honor The price. we went in to buy some cat toys for my friend and i stopped by to look at the cute dogs at doggy day camp and some brunette employee with a ponytail was scowling at me the entire time and shaking her head. i never saw a sign that said i couldn't look at the dogs so i had assumed it was okay. i didn't feel safe or welcomed here, i will not be returning. i would rather travel 20 minutes to a different location than to be met with this woman's dirty looks again, she was very mean to me. i'm so disappointed in customer service these days. i think dogs are a blessing and i wanna be able to look at them! the world is full of karens. I'm not surprised this place only has 2.5 stars. How can you tell me that my dog "just isn't a good fit for your store" when all they said was that I didn't bring in my rabies vaccination date when i did on my last appt and then they ALSO turned me away then because the lady said she couldn't take him. It's beyond ridiculous. I now work at a different bathing place and can see all the harm they are doing to their animals. We purchased two parakeets from this location. Several weeks later one of the birds seemed ill and soon after unfortunately passed away. We were so sad and tried to figure out what could have happened for the one bird to pass away. When I called PetsMart, Angie a store manager kindly offered for us to come by and pick out a new one. When we visited the store, Angie was super helpful in offering many great care tips for the birds. read more

Pet smart doggy daycare I just left and was shocked at the behavior of the dogs. A beagle (lemon) barked and the attendant squirted her in the face with water. This is a safe form of discipline, BUT in this situation I found it heartbreaking. All of the dogs were still. I walked in with my 2, none moved. None were playing, none interacting. All (at least 10 were standing or sitting still. I'm a dog lover. I went in and asked the man at the desk if owners knew their dogs were being sprayed in the face for simply barking, he said yea they do. And I said well barking is what Beagles Do! That pup was squirted 3 times in the 2 minutes I was standing there. just wanted to let you know if you take your pup there. Please I'm not trying to start a post on dog discipline. I just wouldn't want my beagle sprayed in the face for barking when that's what they do and seems like appropriate behavior for a doggy daycare. Lord...please punish these people for abusing the animals...make it stop Sovereign Lord. You people will have to stand before the Lord and give account for your evil behavior. Pet Smart does a great job at offering an overall experience for your your pet including carrying specialty pet food. However, I am a destination shopper so I visit Pet Smart because they carry the Blue Wilderness brand and since our kitties are almost 13 years old they need really good food in their tummies to sustain their lives. Petco and Walmart don't carry this brand so I come here to purchase Blue Wilderness. I pass a Walmart and Petco to get here so that tells you something, right. The Blue Wilderness Brand does a great job in their marketing as they show a user groups reaction to the ingredients that they put other brands. So I guess you could say we drank the kook-aid and spend the extra money on good quality pet food. They stock all types of flavors and lifestyle products for your pet and I buy the one for mature cats as it seems to be digestible and we have fewer throw up incidents. If you have cats you know what I am talking about. I buy the large size and I pick up a few kitty treats and my shopping is complete. Sometime the checkout is slow as they minimize the number of checkers but it dun to watch pets being groomed while you wait. Try the Blue Wilderness brand for your pet and see if you can tell the difference. We did! read more

I absolutely love the ladies at the pet hotel. I bring my band of puppies here a couple times a month for day camp and the dollars as well as myself always greeted so warmly and it feels Genuine. The ladies there are seen to have really bonded with my dogs and the dogs appear to love going there. I've appreciated the staff so much that a few times where I've gone out of my way to drop my dogs off at this location versus going to location this in route to work. I've also had a really good experience with the grooming staff at this location. read more

I booked a reservation for my dog at Southlake Petsmart Grooming depart. I asked them to contact me so I can pick him up right after the grooming has taken place. To avoid placing my dog in a crate. I called and they said it would still be an hour and he's doing well. I then got a call 10 minutes later that he's not being corporative and they will have to charge me $10 more because he is too excitable. I said I'm on my way to pick him up. I get there and he's in a crate barking his head off. That's why I asked for them to call me to AVOID being crated! So, if your dog doesn't sit perfect and non movement. BE PREPARED FOR THEM TO CHARGE YOU MORE. Even though it's NOT on the contract that you approve. I read many, many bad reviews here from the grooming department . as I was deciding on sharing my experience. I was also told that I need to contact a mobile groomer and not bring him back to Petsmart Grooming. read more

Came up on a saturday to donate some blakets to the Homeward Bound animal shelter. I had called the normal pet store we go to when were going to a petstore by my inlaws but both shelters either canceled or were no shows for the day and then I recalled this location near my in laws. The shelter group was awesome and of course I almost went home with a fuzzy new member of our family ... but we need to get our fence fixed with our tax return before we can do that. Didn't go in the store; the fosters working with the adoption group I was talking too were outside with a chocolate lab *love* and a collie *love* but seemed nice on the outside! This review is for the grooming department specifically. My dog is really calm and never has accidents in his crate. When I picked him up he had two poop accidents and the staff wasn't being patient with him and were making him super nervous. I wouldn't recommend being any pets to be groomed here. They had to bathe him twice. read more

Just because this is in the Southlake location, don't be fooled. We went to have our dog groomed here, we asked for the express service for an additional $11, for a total of around $65 with tax (much more than I've ever paid for MY haircut!) Well, the haircut was pretty bad, very uneven lines, tufts of hair just sticking out all over. We weren't going to say anything, but decided to talk to them about it. As we were walking in, the groomer had her back to the door and was in the process of talking negatively about us and our dog, blaming the dog for her bad haircut. Our dog might of been a bit fidgety, since the groomer was so rough, (we were watching from the store). Since they handed her over to us she has been licking parts of herself and crying, I see nicks all over. If you really care about your doggies, I suggest you find another location. read more

We've been taking our Standard Poodle to be groomed here for quite some time. He has a lot of hair and is generally groomed for around $90. Our normal groomer left and a new groomer took care of him last time. Apparently, Petsmart has a policy which had never been enforced previously, that states if the groomer spends extra time brushing the dog, they add an additional fee. We were not notified of the additional fee prior to the dog being completed, this time they charged $197.00 to groom our dog. What's worse, he came back only partially brushed and still damp in some areas which caused matting. His ears weren't cleaned out at all which is very problematic dogs with floppy ears because it can cause ear infections. The manager let us know that the extra fee should have been communicated but did not offer any assistance other than calling other Petsmart salons to see if they would have someone that was 'willing' to groom our dog. We always had very positive experiences, the dog is very well trained and tolerates grooming without issue. If the groomer was inexperienced or concerned about their ability to groom my dog that should have been fully communicated. I am astonished at the manager's response and extremely displeased with the state of my dog post-groom. read more

We just picked up our dog from the groomer at Petsmart and our dog had quarter size nicks on both ears. She was bleeding so much that her head (on top and bottom is now bloody). When I called to complain I was told that she could offer me a discount the next time I come in. The next time? That won't ever happen. At least offer a free bath to clean up the blood stains. read more

This is a very nice store and they always have what I'm looking for (especially my cats' favorite catnip toys by Cosmic Country Catnip - I like the 'cosmic' part). The store is clean, well-stocked, and the staff are friendly. This location also has a PetsHotel inside. I've boarded my cats there 3 times since we moved here and they seem well cared for when I pick them up. I never would have considered boarding a pet at this type of place before, but I haven't found too many places that board cats and the ones I have found seem kinda 'iffy' to me. (There are tons of places that do dogs - and dogs only. Where the heck do people here take their cats anyway?!) read more

I'm a pet parent to a little Cairn Terrier named Vincent. He's deathly afraid of groomers, vets and pet stores in general. However, because the staff at this Petsmart is SO nice he doesn't mind sliding all over their tile floor as much. Their training program is great. For $109 bucks you get 6 weeks of practically one-on-one training from great trainers. Not only do you get all of your questions answered, your little furry friend gets to try practically every type of treat they carry in store. You get to walk around the store and meet tons of people and other animals...it's really fun! And the best part, they get to wear little graduation caps on their last day of class. Adorable! Their grooming services can be hit or miss. You have to be VERY specific on how you want your pet cut. One time my boyfriend took little Vincent for a trim and he came home completely shaved. Yikes! So make sure you and the person that is going to be styling your dog are on the same page. Petsmart has a great selection of treats, organic pet foods and super cute toys and clothes....all at reasonable prices. And best of all, a much better selection than cheaper places (ahem Wal Mart & Target). read more

Pet hotel staff that checked us in was so rude. She didn't even say hello. When we picked our puppy up -she was covered in urine. I said did she have an accident in her crate- answer was no. She is crate trained and never has accidents anyways. She was there for only 2 nights. Then had to take her to our vets to found out she got a virus from there too! We have used the pet hotel in a different state that was awesome, clean, friendly & loved animals! I will NEVER board our fur baby at this one ever again! Boarded my dog there this past weekend after a family emergency came up and required me to need too. Usually, Petsmart wouldn't be high on my list, but they were the only ones open at 7 am when I needed to drop my pup off. I brought with me my dog, his bed, a toy, a tshirt and a baggie of his food. When I picked him up the next day after my flight landed, I got him home only to realize he needed to use the bathroom. My dog peed for a solid minute. Like he hadn't peed in 30 hours (about the time he was there in their care). He peed so much he started to whimper. Did no one notice my dog didn't pee the whole time he was there!? read more

This review is not specific to this location. I ordered dog food online to be delivered to my home. I Contacted Petsmart customer service To complete the order. I received email stating it would be delivered on Saturday instead of Friday as requested. I immediately contacted customer service to cancel order. The delivery day was not my mistake. I drove to Petsmart at 7:00 am Friday to purchase 2 bags of the dog food. Saturday at noon, two bags of dog food was delivered. I called customer service and was advised I had three choices.Keep the dog food, Return the dog food to closest store or they would email a return shipping label. I chose shipping. I was confused and called again Not only do I have to take to a Fed Ex facility but I have buy boxes to put the 2 large bags of dog food in!! They were not delivered in boxes.
