Our dog, Sally, was under the care of Camp Bow Wow - Grapevine from 12/6-12/13 while our family was out of town. When we picked her up, she was extremely lethargic and clearly not acting like herself. Within hours, we rushed her to urgent care and were told she had internal bleeding. She was immediately transferred to an emergency animal hospital, where she underwent an emergency splenectomy because cancer was suspected. Thankfully, pathology showed no cancer. We were then told by veterinary professionals that one possible cause of this type of injury is blunt force trauma. I went to this location in person and spoke with the manager to explain what happened and to seek answers--not to accuse anyone, but to understand how our dog could suffer a life-threatening internal injury while in their care. Instead of concern or empathy, I later received a phone call questioning the credibility of what I had said and asking for the name of the hospital and number in order to verify herself. There were no apologies, no expression of concern for Sally's condition, and no willingness to meaningfully engage with us. The focus was entirely on defending themselves and emphasizing how "big of an accusation" this was--despite the fact that we were simply looking for answers, not placing blame. Our dog almost died while under their care, and the lack of compassion, accountability, and basic concern afterward was deeply disturbing. I want to warn other dog owners about my recent experience at Camp Bow Wow over Thanksgiving. My dog has stayed here many times before without issues -- but what happened this time was unacceptable, dangerous and negligent. Camp Bow Wow offered a "special Thanksgiving dinner" of turkey, green beans, and pumpkin for $5. At no point did they disclose that the "turkey" was processed Great Value deli meat, not real cooked turkey. When I picked up my dog (after paying, while I was walking out the door), an employee casually said, "Oh, she has a bit of loose stool, probably from the dinner." This was not "a bit" of loose stool. My dog became dangerously ill. She was lethargic, shaking, and having puddles of bloody diarrhea. Had they notified me earlier, I would have picked her up immediately. In fact I called in advance and no one told me she was ill. After getting home and witnessing the blood, I called to ask what exactly they fed her, and learned it was Great Value deli meat. Anyone who knows dogs understands that processed deli meat -- full of salt, preservatives, and additives -- can cause severe gastrointestinal distress. Ingredients: sodium phosphate, carrageenan, potassium lactate, sodium diacetate, sodium nitrate, modified corn starch, and high levels of sodium- all of which are toxic to dogs. I had to rush her to the emergency vet, where she was placed on three medications and is still passing blood as we pray she recovers. What reputable boarding facility feeds processed deli meat to dogs? This is basic, common-sense knowledge in pet care. If they don't know that, what else are they doing that isn't safe? I've trusted Camp Bow Wow many times before, but after this experience -- the lack of transparency, the poor judgment, and the failure to notify me when my dog became ill -- I can no longer recommend them or trust them with my dog. Please be cautious and ask detailed questions before leaving your dog here. Don't assume they know what's toxic because they're in the business of taking care of our beloved dogs. read more

Our first time was seamless for both me and my dog. The staff was so friendly & the owner was there when I came to pick up my dog. I really appreciated the hands-on approach. My problem came when my dog got sick and I let them know that he was diagnosed with dog influenza, which is very contagious. I was disappointed that no one reached out to us to check on him or follow up on why we haven't been back. The staff is very nice but if you're looking for your dog to have something fun to do this is not the place. They can have up to 25 dogs in a concrete room with plastic play stairs! They kicked my dog out bc she was excited to see a new person in the room. Probably because she was so bored. She landed on another dog and they said she got in a tiff with the other dog. I just happened to be watching the dog cam at the time. I watched periodically through the day and she was fine! Again I think she was just so bored she got overly excited over a shift change! I should've done more research on what they do with the dogs during the day. I got her from the pound and they don't even put 25 dogs in one area together. read more

Love, love, love this place! Our dog has a blast and we can do other things we need to do, knowing that he's happy and well cared for. Our large pup (1 year old, 65 lbs) has the time of his life!! Every time I check the cameras he is running, grinning, and wagging. Camp Bow Wow provides a clean and safe environment and the dogs bring the fun. I am so grateful for this as a positive outlet for our family. P.S. Every time our dog comes home from day care, he's super happy--and super tired! It's sort of funny. First thing you notice is reviews are not great. (research reviews and replies) Check out date was wrong even though it was written clearly and spoken upon check in. I even asked to give a bath after 4pm on the day my dog checks out as I might have to extend. None of which was noted/communicated. One staff upon check out was very rude. Given this opportunity, I could watch my dog through the screen. My dog kept scratching the floor which I had never seen. I think this happened for a reason, location was good but service quality with one of the staff made me not want to use their business. I would say, first time was the best experience. If this were a manager, she would have probably handled it differently. This is not where I want my dog to stay however, if the staff was not confrontational, I would not have seen this. At the same time, one of the staff mentioned when a new dog is brought for temperament testing, boarded dogs are exposed if it's in the category. This made me think a lot. Things are happening for reasons and I appreciate the fact I was able to see. This is the last boarding kennel I would use. While I appreciated being able to see my dogs and they weren't mistreated. I also felt like there is quite a misrepresentation regarding the love and attention they get. I watched my 12 year old dog want attention and go up to so many workers for them to just ignore him. If your dog doesn't want human interaction this is the place. But my dog would love some attention and an ear scratch or a butt rub on occasion would have sufficed. While I didn't feel my dogs were mistreated I definitely didn't feel like they were being remotely given any attention. We just moved back to the area and every dog is different and I think we may make a little extra drive to know I can feel better about being away and know my dogs are happy where they are. I gave 1 star because I mentioned this during daycare about not showing any affection throughout the day. Which I was told the workers put hands behind their backs to keep the puppy's from biting and nipping as they get to know the dogs they know which ones prefer petting and attention. We boarded for 2 days and I seen absolutely no change. Not a place for my 2. I'm sure my dogs would enjoy being boarded at a vets office compared to this. read more

We love CBW Grapevine, Jessie has been going there about 6 months now and I truly love the staff and care she gets there. She can be a handful and the staff handles her the way we would at home. We do weekly camp and have boarded her before. She is at the point now where she willingly goes back into the yards without turning around to me to say goodbye. I recently did a tour of the yards and kennels and was even more impressed with the set up and the way they take care of and monitor the dogs who are boarding as well as the "frenemy" board. i've been calling lots of boarding places for my 3 dogs (babies). being rather picky i needed to make sure i liked the staff, surrounding and the condition my pets were retuned. well on our first visit i fell in love. the tour was very detailed. my pets had a meet and greet while i watched them play for 15 minutes. they stayed for 3 hours while i ran errands and i was able to watch them on their cameras in the play yard. they had so much fun. they are staying longer in the future so i am confident they will enjoy their time. read more

If you are in need of a place for your pups to stay while you are away from home, look no further than Camp Bow Wow. Our previous boarding facility (Benny's Dog Resort in Carrollton) closed Dec 31st of last year, and we were lucky to come across Camp Bow Wow in our search for a replacement. Off the bat we loved how much closer to us this location is, and that they also require all dogs be up to date on their shots and heartworm medications. Like many other places we have used in the past, dogs need to attend a free interview day of daycare before they will agree to board them as well, simply to ensure they get along with other dogs and don't show any signs of aggression. Once approved, they make a profile of each of your pets to keep on hand in their system. This will have all basic information including any special notes like allergies, additional medications they are taking, etc. Another huge plus for us was that they have 24/7 webcams so you can look in on your dogs at anytime while you're away. Not just in the common play areas, but even while they are sleeping if they are staying in a suite. The other sleep areas are not fitted with webcams. We hadn't originally booked our girls to stay in a suite, but they had one not being occupied and were kind enough to let them use it without charging us the difference in price. Another bonus? Once they stay 5 nights in a row, they have the option to receive complimentary baths before pickup! Huskies are famously hard to bathe as they shed constantly and have a ton of hair, but they did a wonderful job brushing them out. We hardly recognized them they looked so good! The staff are incredibly kind and friendly too. Overall the price of their stay ended up being more affordable than our last place considering the added free baths and upgraded suite (triple win!). We are so relieved to have found a trustworthy place where we don't have to worry about our babies when we are on vacation. We wish we would have found them sooner. I would definitely recommend viewing the live cameras in their app (open to the public) before sending your dog here. We brought our pup for a trial run and ended up picking her up early after watching the cameras. There are SO many dogs in small, dark, boring areas. None of the dogs seemed to be playing and mostly just pacing around. The staff monitoring the dogs did not interact with them at all, and one woman in particular did not seem to even like dogs. At one point we saw on the cameras her grabbing dogs a little too aggressively for comfort. It appeared to be an overwhelmingly stressful environment for any dog. My dog was there for two hours and had kennel cough a few days later. If you have a small dog, it might be an ok choice because the small dog room did not seem as over crowded. The staff at the front desk were nothing but kind and accommodating, however the experience for the dogs just isn't there. read more
