So far so good! This place is new in Santa Rosa and, so far, the staff is helpful and the selection is fabulous. I only wish they didn't have those poor little pets in cages. Buying a pet out of a cage is always an iffy proposition. That's the only reason for four stars and not five. read more

I used to go here to have my dog's nails trimmed because it was convenient but after my last trip to the grooming salon, I'm going to go elsewhere. I rushed in with my small dog wrapped in a towel and asked if they could get us in for an emergency shampoo and cut because he had walked in some gunk, (It was some varnish I was using in the garage on wood pieces). He had a long tail and pretty much swept the floor and his butt with it and it was all over his paws. I tried washing it and cutting what I could of his tail hair but he needed professional help fast before it dried on him. I was so glad they were close by because the sooner they cleaned him the sooner he wouldn't get the sticky stuff all over other things or before it hardened. They didn't ask questions they just said they were booked up until next week, even though there were two of them and only one dog that was already finished. The place was empty. As we left, one of them said something about hoping it wasn't pooped. I couldn't believe that anyone would think a dog rolling in dog poop was cause for an "emergency". Not very bright or sympathetic. They lost a regular customer for good. read more

I've never been to PetSmart before. Today I took my dog with me and we went to look around. I ended up picking out a couple of things. The store was very clean and it was easy to find everything. The only downside was nobody asked me if I wanted assistance. When I paid for my items the lady that rang me up was very nice. I asked her questions about my pregnant dog and she seemed very knowledge! She helped me a lot more than a vet did. Definitely will be going back! read more

For the sake of any future pet owners thinking about taking their furry babies to the grooming salon here. Don't bother, unless your pet just needs a bath. I took my Bichon Frise for a "trim" and was shocked when I picked him up almost bald and patches of hair everywhere. I didn't immediately notice because I had my daughters with me and the minute they brought him out they were all over him, but I noticed as soon as we got home. He still had small matting under his legs, which I specifically asked to be shaven off. I had asked for a trim, his coat was 5 inches long, it's now 1 inch to 1.5 inches depending on where you look. It's uneven everywhere even after I took him back for them to fix. The sanitary areas were not shaven. He had a bald spot on his chest. His ears were not plucked. His nails were not cut. I asked for the Top Dog package mind you, not cheap. So I basically paid a lot of money for a horrible half a** haircut. My vet thought I was grooming him myself. This was only the 2nd time bringing him here, the first time was just for a bath. He usually goes to the RP Petsmart but they were super booked out. So I hoped we could make this our new spot. No way. Pretty disappointing. read more

I take my Great Danes in to the grooming salon for a bath and nail clip once a month. They do a good job and their prices are fair! Its no easy feat washing a 150 lb. dog lol they never complain. I have had to wait up to 15 mins when they where running a little behind but thats life, I'm not mad about it. the girls that work in the salon are nice and i can tell they really love dogs. I also shop in the store and have never had a bad experience. read more

I've gone here a few times and had an okay experience, but the service today was so unbelievably bad I'm never going back. I went for some meal worms and they keep those in the employees only area so I stood waiting by the bugs for 8 minutes and no one came to help. I finally saw a guy walking back and was ignored, so i went to the front to ask for help there and while I was on my way they announced that they were closing and everyone had to stop shopping. I was a bit ticked off about being ignored so I figured screw it and started to leave. While I was walking out a female employee with short black hair pushed a cart right into me. I don't know if it was an accident or on purpose and I was so annoyed that I didn't stop to ask. Either way she didn't even acknowledge that it happened. I get being in a rush when it's almost closing time and you've been working a long day and still have to close, but please don't ignore customers and especially don't hurt them and not apologize. If you can, go to the PetCo down the street instead. I always have very pleasant encounters with the employees there. read more

this review is based on grooming only at the santa rosa location - DO NOT TAKE YOUR DOG THERE UNLESS YOU WANT THEM TO COME BACK COMPLETELY SHAVED - i brought my king charles spaniel in to this location (normally take to rohnert park, but they couldnt get her in as quickly) - she normally has some mats on her ears and her tail - rohnert park normally shaves them out and cuts the rest of the fur to "hide" the matting - nope not santa rosa, they cut the hair the same length ALL OVER - even the tail! if you have seen a king charles spaniel you know this is a terrible cut - i then contacted corporate through email - i was told (and i have a copy of it for proof) that they will ONLY give the feedback to the location IF I ACCEPT THEIR $15 CREDIT - are you kidding me??? i did not take the credit sooooo - absolutely ridiculous all the way around read more

Signed up for dog training classes. Not once did my dog and I practice any type of basic manners. The "trainer" spends the entire classes talking about dog facts. What to feed your dogs. What things to avoid feeding your dog. Best type of dog food. She tells lots of stories about her dogs and other dogs from customers. Total waste of money. read more

I took my 8 week old german shepherd puppy to get groomed. she had never been groomed before so i didn't know how it was going to go. Brittany did a fabulous job, she answered all my questions she was very knowledgable and patient with me. when i went to go pick her up she was in brittany's arms very clam and groomed beautifully. brittany she is an excellent groomer and i can tell that she really loves her job and being around dogs. If I could mark negative I WOULD! Walking in we were greeted by Mr rude n high n mighty Nick. When we said we were looking for mice instead of just saying no (because they had no mice) he asked if they were for feeding which he had NO right to ask n we said yes he said they vaccinate their mice n are Against animal cruelty.... well NO ONE vaccinates mice n animal cruelty? THEY ARE Cruel to Their animals. Ammonia levels so high in their tanks the fishes gills were burning, a super unhealthy Adult python shoved into their smallest tank, half their reptile setups are incorrectly done for the few sad animals they have (bearded dragons are desert not jungle animals) 30 parakeets are shoved into a small glass box ... TERRIBLE!!! I will never shop here again!! They have uneducated rude staff and I have Never been to a petsmart that took such POOR care of their animals. read more

I called first on a Sunday to find out for certain that I could have my chihuahua's nails clipped. A young woman was pleasant on the phone so my son and I headed to the store. More staff explained there would be a short wait (fine with that) but then they wanted to see the rabies vaccination for the dog and asked for more information. Luckily Petcare is open on Sunday so the info was obtained. Seemed like they kept trying to sell more services but what bothered me more was the proof of rabies, should have been clear on the requirements on the phone. Probably will not go back. read more

My review is only about my experience with the grooming salon. I have taken my small dog here since I adopted him over 2 years. I had never had a problem until this last month. I call in to make an appointment a month ago and they were booked up until 7/7/18 I took a noon appointment. Received my reminder like always a couple of days before. Everything going great. Saturday 7/7 comes around and I get a call around 10 am from the grooming department. Juwon telling me that my appointment has to be rescheduled as the manager who was going to groom my dog called in sick. I asked if anyone else could groom him he said no we are busy. Ok I get it how about another appointment on a Saturday. He scheduled me for Saturday 7/14 at 10:30 am. Come Thursday no reminder so I called to confirm my appointment. Juwon answers and lets me know he forgot to book my appointment but found me one for 12:30 same Saturday. Ok great. I arrive on Saturday at 12:15 anGabby was my groomer scheduled to do my dog. Oh you should of seen the attitude she had once she saw that she was overbooked. I asked what was wrong she said I'm over booked. I was like I've waited for an appointment for one a month and had two incidents one being asked to reschedule another not being scheduled. She said I'm not going to cancel you but I'm overbooked. The other girl said let me go get the manager. Which was a bunch of BS cuz the manager never came out. She came back and said oh she said to go ahead and take him and she will do it if you don't have time. They even offered me an upgrade just like Juwon. I leave my dog there thinking everything was good. I call at 3:30 to check up on him. They said he's not ready yet until 4:30 or 5. Ok I drive over 10 miles to pick him up as I don't live in Santa Rosa. I received a call from them when I was driving into the parking lot: 4:30. I go to the grooming department to find out they did nothing to my dog!!! He sat in the cage from 12:30-4:30. Gabby said did you get my message I said yes but you just called me when I was driving up. She said I didn't get to him. I said " are you kidding me" she answered " I told you I couldn't do him. I got upset cuz she did not say that. I said you said you were taking him and your manager would do him if you couldn't. I said let me speak to your manager. Guess who comes out acting like she was the managers. Yep the coworker. She had a smirk on her face and I went off. I said do you think it's ok to BS a customer and keep there dog in a cage for hours and waist there time. I had never had a problem but DAMB these kids they think they can BS anyone. I will never take my dog here ever again!! I will be calling the corporate office and doing a formal complaint and actually calling the manager on Monday to speak with her. Hope they either get rid of these children and get actual employees that care about giving good customer service and care about the animals they are dealing with. read more

I went in here tonight after going to petco to price kennels for my dog and from the time my roommate and I walked in it was a great experience. Aime (I think she was a pet trainer) helped us and walked us through the store letting us know the difference between the puppy foods and which ones would be the best and everything. She also showed interest in my puppy. She explained to us that the amount of food you she feed them off the weight of the puppy. I just got the puppy a couple days ago I don't know how much he weighs. She went above and beyond to weigh my puppy to let me know how much he weighs. This is one of the best experiences I have had in any pet store. I will never go back to petco. If you receive a receipt with an invitation to take a survey and receive a coupon for $3 off of your next purchase, be sure to use that $3 on something you don't plan on exchanging. I purchased pet food and a dog accessory for a total just over $25.00 (with the coupon). After trying the accessory on my dog I realized I needed a smaller size. When I went back and exchanged it for a size smaller that was a $1 less, I expected a $1 back. I was told I couldn't have the $1 back because of the $3 coupon. The $3 was spread out over the entire purchase with each item getting a percent of the $3. The accessory received $1.14 deduction and the receipt stated a return price of $16.85. I want to clarify that I did not return the item, but exchanged it. So in reality the survey coupon turned out to be for only $1.86. read more

I've had mostly great experiences at the Petaluma Petsmart. Always find what I need, the staff are freindly and have provided my good suggestions into products. Had staff even give me helpful advice with some of my dogs behavioral issues. The groomers have been good as well. No complaints here. read more

This PetSmart on Santa Rosa Ave is my #1 retail experience!! They have the best customer service of all places I shop. The staff is always friendly and very knowledgable. They really helped me with questions on taking care of my cat. They solved my kitty litter problems by having me mix two different litters which gave me the best of all worlds. They are very responsive and when I had one bad experience which was caused by a new inexperienced employee they immediately solved it in a way which exceeded my expectations. As a corporation, PetSmart is the only one I have experienced which values and respects my time by giving me a $3 coupon to occasionally complete their online surveys. These surveys do matter and are reviewed by the staff. All other corporation want to get this valuable demographic and personal information for free or worse offer to enter you in a sweepstakes which you will never win and by which they get even more information on you. I find the prices comparable to online prices too. I highly recommend this particular PetSmart store. read more

I have one dog who needs regular grooming that is beyond my abilities. Our regular groomer has an injury that prevents her from working on big dogs. Although I have heard of dogs dying while being groomed at various Petsmart locations, the grooming salon was recommended to me. I called, made an appointment, and was told if I brought her in at 7AM, they would not be busy and could mostly focus on her while I waited. They did a good job; although she coughed for several days afterward as if she had been choked, and was very jumpy for about a week. Since I am often a slow learner, the next time she needed grooming, this week, I made an appointment for 7AM. They took her in back, I went to my car to get a chair, and when I got back 2 minutes later, I heard my dog crying and howling in the back. I asked what they were doing to her, and was told she was just in a kennel waiting until someone had time for her. I asked for her to come and sit with me until they were ready, and was told that they could not do that! They suggested that for an additional fee I could get an appointment where they would just work on her, not several dogs at once; I agreed until I realized it would not be that day (this would be a good thing to suggest when someone makes an appointment, not after they have gotten up at the crack of dawn, driven to the business, and been there for 45 minutes!) She stopped crying in a couple of minutes, so I let it go, figuring she was being attended to. After a while, I went to get a coffee; when I returned, I could again hear her crying and screaming and howling. I gritted my teeth, again asked that she wait with me, and was again told no. After 20 minutes I could no longer allow her to continue to be traumatized, so I went to the counter and told them we were leaving and I needed my dog. I don't know what they do to dogs while they are out of sight in the back room; but when she came out, she was trembling, which I have never seen her do. In the public eye, they are very nice to the dogs; but I was shocked and dismayed that they would ignore an obviously distressed dog for a length of time. I will never take a dog to any Petsmart for grooming again. (Years ago, I had a bad experience with the store in Rohnert Park; after grooming one of my dogs, a sheltie mix, several times for $45, I took her in and was charged $160!!!! The manager assured me that that was the proper charge; that was the last time I ever went there.) The Petsmart corporation seems to be pretty good; they help rescues and do quite a bit for animals. This store however, is a pit. I rescue and foster dogs. Some time ago, I went to their after Christmas sale to stock up on toys and goodies for the rescues. They had a big display of Christmas items on sale for "25-50% off". I asked the only employee I could find how to tell which were 50% off, and she said "they ALL are" I pointed out that the sign indicated this was not so, but she assured me all of it was 50% off. SO I spent an hour choosing things I thought the dogs would enjoy, and filled a shopping cart. When I got to the checkout, I was shocked to find that only 2 items were 50% off, making the items cost more than I could afford, and wasting my time, which is precious to me. They said their employee was wrong. Now a caring business would have apologized, sold the items for the sale price I had been told, and taken care to better train their employees, but not this place! I complained to corporate, who had the manager call me and offer me a $50 gift card, less than half the money I would have saved, and of course nothing for my wasted time. SO I don't shop there anymore. read more

i adopted a cat from this location about 6 months ago. she is an absolute angel. however, the employees present when i adopted her didn't know anything about her background or where she came from. this can be very risky, especially if she had any medical or behavioral problems. thankfully she does not but i was not impressed with the staff at all. read more

I took my dog to get a trim because she's a Maltese so her hair gets really long and knotted. I got a call a couple hours later saying that they cut her ear and she was going to need stitches. When I arrived to pick her up they expected me to pay for the hair cut and no one even knew about the cut. Not even the manager knew what had happened. Worst customer service I have experienced They had me standing there for over 20 minutes while they figured out what was going on. And the apology was pathetic. There was no sympathy at all. I don't want this to deter people from adopting a kitty from this place because they need homes and they are great kitties! I just wish they would take better care of them. I have not received a healthy cat from here. I have adopted 3 from here and all three had an upper respiratory tract infection, 2 had ringworm, one had ear mites and an eye infection. You pay 150$ just for the kitty but spend so much more just to make them healthy... they are worth it don't get me wrong, but I just wish bringing them home was a happy, bonding experience. Instead it's shoving antibiotics down their throats, rubbing cream on them, putting eye drops in and constant vet trips. When the kitties arrive they all need a shot of antibiotics and looked over for ringworm with a black light. I wouldn't give my kitties up in a heart beat! I just think there is a lot of room for improvement for the health of these kitties! They are kept in a very clean environment and I'm so glad I saved 3 kitties from this place. They are all healthy now and amazing kitties! read more

Unprofessional Manager "Mel", Poor customer service, and all around abrasive attitude. After i found all the pet supplies i came into buy, i decided to check out the adoptable kittens they had in the corner, 140.00 per adoption, no problem there. I have a little blind kitten who needs a playmate it can depend on to look out for her. I asked to talk to the manager about the fee, and how the whole return policy worked, I have two dogs and I didn't to get stuck with a poor situation for the little guy. At first she was helpful, but after i joked about the price she got defensive. She said that it wasn't a fee it was a 140 dollar donation, and told me even if i brought the kitten back, i would not get my money back. Still willing to purchase the kitten, i joked saying well if its a donation is it a set price. She flipped on me and listed all the reasons I was going to donate 140.00 for the kitten, then began telling me how many checks would be involved and how i have to be a good fit. Her tone shifted, and It changed from her giving me information, into what felt like an argument. Then finally at the front counter, after telling me about the "investigation" i would have to endure to get this Kitten, She tells me while im swiping my card and buying the dog food and other supplies i came to get. That she has already concluded that she isn't to allow me to adopt. Disgusted with the whole situation i promptly, respectfully told her, "You know what, i can get this somewhere else, Have a good day." Don't take my experience as an example of how they run things. Although the entire staff at Santa Rosa Petsmart seems very nice, this review is really about the grooming salon. You know the show "Undercover Boss"? The owner of Petsmart needs to be on that show working in that grooming salon. The groomers there work so tremendously hard to do a great job with the dogs, yet the phone rings constantly with customers wishing to make appointments. Or there are customers coming to drop off/pick up their dogs every few minutes. And the groomers must stop what they are doing--leave a dog alone mid-trim, etc. to go tend to the phone or the customers. This stresses the animals out as well as the groomer. At my last visit I mentioned this, and theey saaid thhey woon't hhhiree someoonee new (sorry, my keyboard is actingg up!) I tthink this compaanyy is big enoough to rresspeectt their pproffessiional grooominggg staff andd hiiree sommeone to JUST worrk the groomiing-sallonn''s ddessk.. The fish here are AWFUL. I was here the other day, and there was a tank of Platy fish with three dead bodies that were completely molded over. It was obvious that the dead ones had been there for days. I bought two guppies from petco, and three from petsmart, and the petsmart ones have been suffering from all kinds of problems, including fin rot. My neon tetras from here turned out to have ich, which I just finished treating three weeks ago, and the cured fish now has it again due to petsmart's lack of care for their fish. Furious that I gave this chain my money when they obviously don't care about the well-being of their fish. Another thing to consider is that they stuff all your fish into one bag, and don't even double bag it. So, it's a race home whilst trying to be so very careful about the bag not popping and sending fish and water all over your car. The last time I purchased fish, they put three danios, two tetras, and a snail all in one tiny bag, and they started fighting as soon as I got to my car. This wasn't my first experience with them cramming fish into one bag either. Apparently 2 cent fish bags are too expensive for them to give you when you're purchasing a $5-$10 fish. Go to petco in Santa Rosa instead. The lady in their fish section actually knows what she's doing. read more
