Penny has been invaluable in helping my husband and me with our timid pup. Penny provided just the right resources at the right time and helped us with the mindset we needed in order to integrate our pup into our family as well as into the world. Our pup was afraid of everything at first (wouldn't even want to go on walks outside) and we went through some really stressful times. But having Penny's support really got us through some rough patches. Our pup has way more confidence now and loves hikes - you can tell she's a happy dog! And having Penny's ongoing support with her Staying on Track sessions has also kept the progress going, as we are learning ways to keep a very smart, active heeler engaged! Highly recommend! read more

Penny is worth every penny :) I brought home a high energy puppy that constantly pulled my clothes, bite me, and all around mischievous. I called Penny out of desperation, and we worked closely together. My previous dog passed away at 15.5 years and I had to relearn puppyhood. Penny trained my pup as well as me. After two weeks of intensive training I have a calm, well behaved, loving best friend. Penny is kind, gentle, and very encouraging to our dog Copper and he is excited to see her. I would highly recommend Penny to any dog owner. read more

I have worked with Penny since the weeks before we even brought home our golden retriever puppy when he was 9 weeks old. She has been incredibly patient, guiding, and gentle. She has gone and above and beyond, going the extra mile to care for not only Bagheera, but us as a family integrating a new puppy. She has helped set reasonable expectations for a young puppy. We went through some rough patches when we wondered could we even continue with our dear puppy. Penny spent many hours with us to help us create a plan, which has set us on the right path. We have worked with Penny for board and train, boarding, and 1:1 training. She is a lovely teacher who we all appreciate and love! read more

Penny is the secret ingredient in creating both an obedient calm confident dog as well as a loving insightful relationship with your pet. We adopted a (giant!) German Shepherd from the Humane Society. Since he is 6 years old we knew he had lots of experiences before he met us and we wanted to make sure we knew how to care for him and be able to manage him well outside of the house. Penny has a remarkable ability to see the world as the dog is probably seeing it m. She taught us how to be proactive and skilled at creating a relaxed comfortable relationship with our new family member. I would recommend her highly to anyone who has a challenging existing situation or is interested in learning how to handle a new pet. Plus she is very delightful person! read more

Penny is fantastic! She is helping me and my husband work with our super anxious hound to deal with her fear. Penny is incredibly kind and gentle with dogs, she is all about compassionate, positive reinforcement training techniques that will help your dog connect better with you and do the desired behaviors because it wants to, not because it is afraid of you. Penny has been unbelievably helpful to us, and she is also incredibly easy to work with. Her system for scheduling training sessions is super flexible, and she is also very accessible and available for random issues that come up in between training sessions. And most importantly, Penny makes even our very fearful doggo comfortable. I cannot recommend her enough. read more

Penny is amazing! We love her so much. She has taught us so much about our dog and how to work with communicating with her in a way that works for us both. She always has thoughtful solutions and we have seen how consistent training actually works! I can't recommend her enough and hope we get to work with her again soon. Love you Penny!! read more

I completed one monthly subscription with Penny and it's been worth every...drum roll...'penny' haha. My husband and I rescued our 1 year old pup half a year ago and, although life-long dog owners, struggled with certain behaviors of his we'd never encountered before: leash reactivity and aggression with other dogs. In our latest lesson I met Penny at a (dog-filled) park and our pooch did great, with Penny teaching me how to comfortably and safely manage him amidst his triggers. Penny really knows her stuff and her online videos (available on the company website plus more on YouTube) are super helpful as well. Highly recommended! Good luck! read more

Penny is a truly outstanding trainer. Throughout our first two sessions together, she has given us immensely useful insight and helped us to implement new, important routines for our pup. I purchased a beautiful yellow Labrador pup, she came "started" with training. But, being a first time puppy parent, it was obvious that I needed help with training and behavioral management. I found All About Canines, and Penny has been a wonderful trainer for me! (And of course my pup). But, it's actually training me how to understand my dog's basic nature, and how to work with it, to my benefit, and her happiness. Penny is great with people and dogs ( I'm sure all animals). I highly recommend Penny and her business. She's always available for questions that come up when not in training session. I'll definitely keep Penny on my contact list, as my pup grows up. read more

There are not enough stars in Yelp to hand out here. Penny is simply amazing. We signed up for the four session package with her before we even got our puppy. And then we signed for some more. And from the very first interaction with her, we knew that we had found the perfect trainer. We worked with other trainers as well who were just way too upbeat and loud as if they were a performing act on America's Got Talent. But Penny has this very calm aura about her that put us as well as our little French Bulldog at such ease from the get go. One session with her and our 3 month old puppy already learned to sit. I can go on and on but in short, if you're looking for a competent, knowledgeable, compassionate and dedicated dog trainer look no further. read more

First let me say that Penny has been a trusted and valued part of our lives for many years. She is a person of great integrity and trustworthiness. Previously we had a German Shepherd named TinTin who was the love of our lives ! Whenever we traveled...the only person we felt that we could leave him with was Penny. We KNEW that no matter what...he would be safe and cared for and loved ! In the present day...we adopted a Shepherd named Jesse at 7 months old and he will turn 3 Years old in a few weeks. We believe that he had a "hard start" in life without much socialization with dogs or people. Penny has worked with us tirelessly to help with his behavior problems. She has been invaluable in this regard. I highly recommend Penny for all things " DOG". She is a tremendous resource! Chris R. read more

Over the years I have worked with Penny with a number of our dogs. She is great at listening to what I want to accomplish, assessing the dog's disposition, and training me to work towards the desired goal. When our 9 yr old corgi attacked our 3 yr old last October I knew I needed hands on help to address the behavior issues. My neighbor worked with Penny a couple of years ago and gave me her number. I gave Penny a call and filled her in on our situation. I found her very engaging and helpful in her evaluation of our dogs' behaviors. After our initial zoom call we decided to give her a try. We've worked with her for a few months now. She has a delightful personality and great humor. She's very good with coming up with solutions to behavior issues. Ours had to do with our older dog resource guarding me. One of the first questions she asked was if he follows me into the "loo". In fact he does. Now he doesn't. I now choose to ignore some of his demands. Both dogs are now able to be in the same room. The younger one is still understandably cautious when close to the older one. But they are both calmer as am I. I've learned the importance of being calm around our dogs. Our younger one is doing better on leash and around certain distractions. He's still young. He still pulls on walks with our other dog but does settle more quickly than before. Some of his behavior depends on the environment he's in. He still needs more training. Training is ongoing. Just because you attend a 6 week training course does not mean that your dog will be forever trained. Penny is a pleasure to be around. She always has options for improvement. Consistency is key. We've finished our sessions and I miss seeing her. But it's possible a need will come up in the future and I'll give her a call! I highly recommend her. read more

Penny has been assisting us with our 1.5 year old yellow Labrador retriever. In summary, he is one of the happiest big ball of energy goofballs that we needed some help with especially with a little one. Penny has gone out of her way from calling, texting, and just being there for us whenever we had any questions or concerns that came up even outside of our training days. Penny has been so helpful and we couldn't be more grateful for the tools she has taught us with our little/not so little adolescent pup. Thank you Penny! read more

There is a reason for all the 5 stars! I have an almost 2 year old Aussie doodle with energy off the charts. My pup did a 6 week training at another facility and she got some basics at about 6 months. Then I went thru quite a few trainers with not much help. My dog is Far more intelligent than me and is super easy to train. However she is reactive and impossible to contain when she's distracted. Finally my prayers were answered, the sea parted, and birds sang. I found Penny, when my pup was about a year and half. First of all she is a marvelous witty fun person! I want to be friends with her forever. Then comes the training and she's the best. We started with in person training once a week for a month or so. She was basically training me. I'm 63 and have always had dogs and done lots of training over the years. Her positive reinforcement took me awhile to get. Sometimes she made no sense to me and had to explain things maybe more than once. My dog is a quick learner, me not so much. However I started to notice a shift in my relationship with my dog. I was going on vacation and decided to do a board and train with her for two weeks. Unfortunately when Penny brought her home she wanted to go back with Penny! Loves her to death. I recently left Sonoma County but will continue zooms with Penny. She is the best dog trainer and an all around Joy! read more

We found Penny of All About Canines online after adopting our eight week old golden doodle Apollo during the Covid pandemic. As first time dog owners who were not sure what we were getting into, Penny has been a tremendous resource for us for everything from how to set up our house correctly for a puppy to the beginnings of potty training and everything that comes after. Apollo is now 15 months old and we have been training with Penny the entire time. Apollo is now a very calm and well-adjusted dog who listens when he is supposed to and is also a happy-go- lucky integral part of our family. I adopted a young dog named Skye a female probable Malinois that is a remarkably high energy dog. She did not seem to have any basic training, so Skye and I definitely needed help. From the moment she arrived the training began, and I think I needed as much training as Skye. Skye responded enthusiastically and was learning a lot of basic things to build a foundation for further training Penny made a list of things for us to practice before the next session. I would give Penny 10 stars if I could. She is truly the best dog trainer I have ever worked with and I have worked with quite a few over the years. We specifically hired Penny to help us train our 10 month old Cavalier King Charles Spaniel. He has a really short attention span (I think I do too lol) but Penny explained everything so clearly that it all made perfect sense. I love how she encourages you to give your dog the opportunity to choose to make the right decision, rather than just forcing them to do what you want. She also helped us solve several issues with all 3 of our dogs, such as frequent barking, guarding of resources (specifically water bowls) and just getting better behavior and good manners out of our pack. Penny is literally worth every penny haha!! We originally purchased a package of 4 sessions, which we completed today, but I am sure we will continue to use her in the future as new issues arise.
