When our 9 yr old corgi attacked our 3 yr old last October I knew I needed hands on help to address the behavior issues. My neighbor worked with Penny a couple of years ago and gave me her number. I gave Penny a call and filled her in on our situation. I found her very engaging and helpful in her evaluation of our dogs' behaviors. After our initial zoom call we decided to give her a try. We've worked with her for a few months now. She has a delightful personality and great humor. She's very good with coming up with solutions to behavior issues. Ours had to do with our older dog resource guarding me. One of the first questions she asked was if he follows me into the "loo". In fact he does. Now he doesn't. I now choose to ignore some of his demands. Both dogs are now able to be in the same room. The younger one is still understandably cautious when close to the older one. But they are both calmer as am I. I've learned the importance of being calm around our dogs. Our younger one is doing better on leash and around certain distractions. He's still young. He still pulls on walks with our other dog but does settle more quickly than before. Some of his behavior depends on the environment he's in. He still needs more training. Training is ongoing. Just because you attend a 6 week training course does not mean that your dog will be forever trained. Penny is a pleasure to be around. She always has options for improvement. Consistency is key. There is a reason for all the 5 stars! I have an almost 2 year old Aussie doodle with energy off the charts. My pup did a 6 week training at another facility and she got some basics at about 6 months. Then I went thru quite a few trainers with not much help. My dog is Far more intelligent than me and is super easy to train. However she is reactive and impossible to contain when she's distracted. Finally my prayers were answered, the sea parted, and birds sang. I found Penny, when my pup was about a year and half. First of all she is a marvelous witty fun person! I want to be friends with her forever. Then comes the training and she's the best. We started with in person training once a week for a month or so. She was basically training me. I'm 63 and have always had dogs and done lots of training over the years. Her positive reinforcement took me awhile to get. Sometimes she made no sense to me and had to explain things maybe more than once. My dog is a quick learner, me not so much. However I started to notice a shift in my relationship with my dog.
