Shout out to Four Paws Pet Ranch I have a 70lb, 6mo. old shepherd rescue who is terrified of everything. My trainer suggested doggie day care to help socialize him. I talked with several places and decided to give Four Paws Pet Ranch a try. Cory, the general manager, with her knowledge and experience was willing to tailor a plan for my boy. It included, among other things , short days, time to watch others and slow, selected introductions, I had to forcefully drag him out of the car, tail between his legs, growling, the first couple times. With the patient, caring and gentle staff he began to play with other dogs and not be so fearful. Today was his fifth visit. When my dog was done, he looked so perfect and they charged me much less than most of the other groomers I called. Lot's of parking, and was greeted by the gal inside the main building where I paid. After a successful 2 hour dog daycare trial, we opted for the 2 day special for first time clients. This special gives you your first night's free when you book at least 2 nights, great deal! Not to mention a percentage of your stay goes towards their non-profit pet rescue/adoption center Countryside Rescue, located on the ranch! If you are local and unable to pick or drop your dog off, they do have a convenient Waggin Wheels service that comes! Although there was some initial confusion with a woman working the counter the day we dropped him off, the other staff were quick to answer any questions or concerns we had about having our puppy boarded overnight for the first time. This is turn made us feel very comfortable and trusting with leaving him. We needed a couple intimate days alone on our babymoon to focus on each other as a couple, which to us was very important! I would recommend this award winning pet ranch that's been in business for 14 years, especially if you're an animal lover like us! We spotted some well taken care of emus and a beautiful Macaw when we dropped our puppy off! When the day arrived to pick him up, the sweet ranch staff said that Midnight did great socializing with the other dogs and was a good eater! We brought him the raw freeze dried puppy food he loves, as well as his durable squeaky skunk toy for comfort away from home, which I think really helped him adjust so well! First of all, we were late for our evaluation morning appointment due to traffic, and Cory, the General Manager, emailed back right away to tell us not to worry and just get there safely. What a relief. From the moment we arrived, Julie took Napoleon from us to start evaluating him to make sure he will do well with a group of dogs his size. The front desk staff was welcoming, professional, and clearly passionate about the dogs. Cory and John also went over the rules and contract since it was our first time there. Cory apologised for the bit of chaos, but It was Saturday morning and clients were just arriving at the same time. However, the staff were still attentive. Dogs of different types of size had separate play areas. We were given a short tour of where Napoleon would be sleeping. We also took a sneak peek from afar how Napoleon was getting along with other dogs. It put us at ease knowing he was getting along with other dogs and there was someone assigned to watch them play. When it got too warm, I emailed to remind of Napoleon, a brachycephalic breed, overheating and they were well aware of it, so he was already inside the kennel in a cooler area. Whenever I emailed and called, I always got a response. When we picked him up the next day, he was happy, healthy, and exhausted from all the fun he had. The guy told us Napoleon had made over 20 friends. It was clear that he had been well taken care of, and that gave us peace of mind. Giving a shout-out to Caitlin and Elena at the Second Chance Canine Academy located right behind Four Paws. We boarded Keegan there and asked them to work with him on his jumping, leash reactivity, and separation anxiety while we were away. The jumping and leash reactivity are gone (!) and we're making headway on the separation anxiety. We'd gotten conflicting advice from other trainers on how to deal with Keegan's issues, which only made things worse. Such a relief to concentrate his training with Second Chance Canine Academy, where they clearly love him and understand him. Just what we all needed! read more

I lived in Sonoma County for many years and appreciated the business model of Four Paws Pet Ranch; their motto "While your pet plays another gets saved" always stood out to me. I've since moved away but come pretty frequently as my husband's entire fam lives in the area, plus many of our friends. We have a two year old energetic miniature bull terrier named Rocco and when we have family outings or want to get together with friends for prolonged amounts of time, it's so easy and convenient to drop Rocco off for some hours of fun and play vs crating him. I love that since their facility is so large, there's never a need to call ahead for daycare reservations. He always comes back tuckered out but happy from a day running around their property. Before choosing Four Paws as our pup sitter, I did a ton of research on the available facilities in Sonoma County, and I gotta say other places have some horror stories. Four Paws is the rare one that has great reviews all around. Rocco has also stayed overnight for boarding a handful of times and calling up to book is easy and drop off always goes smooth. I found Four Paws Pet Ranch while searching for resources like training, boarding, and doggy daycare, and I'm so glad I did! Not only do they offer those services, but they also include grooming, which is a huge bonus. The location is perfect for me, and when I pulled up, I was immediately impressed by the look of the facility. The emu's on site are awesome! As a new dog owner with a puppy, I was nervous, but Jonathan made the entire process so much easier. He checked me in for the meet and greet and answered all my questions with such grace and patience. He also conducted the meet and greet with my dog and gave me valuable feedback that really put my mind at ease. I could tell he was very attentive to her behavior, which gave me great confidence in her care. When I came to pick up my dog, Joe gave me a tour and shared additional feedback on top of what Jonathan had mentioned. He also recommended their on-site trainer for the days I wanted to board and even gave me her contact info so I could move forward with that, which was incredibly helpful. The doggy daycare pickup and drop-off process has been quick and efficient. The only downside I experienced--and this is coming from the perspective of a brand-new dog owner--is that I wish I had received more feedback after my dog's first full day of daycare. Since she's new to both me and the facility, I was eager to know how she was managing. On the second day, a very kind staff member greeted us and, while sweet to my dog, said to her, "Oh, you don't like it here, huh, honey?" That caught me off guard, since I hadn't heard anything about how her first day went, and it made me feel a little unsure as a new pet parent. To be fair, I didn't think to ask for an update at pickup--everything moves efficiently, which I appreciate--but it would be wonderful if, similar to the meet-and-greet process, first-time daycare clients got a quick summary or note about how their dog did that first day. Chloe, our groomer, is so kind and caring with our mini poodle. It was so easy to schedule appointments. She pleasantly works with our timeline and needs. This review is primarily for Caitlin, the trainer. My puppy was in board and train for 2 weeks and came back better than I could have imagined. She's pretty much perfect! Because Caitlin and her team did such an amazing job, I decided to see if they could work with my other dog, Diesel. He's a powerful 95 pound bundle of fear and anxiety. He comes across as aggressive, and people are understandably terrified of him. I've worked with 4 other trainers, and made very little progress. One trainer actually told me that he would understand if I surrendered him! That was not going to happen, but I had resigned myself to the fact that Diesel would always have a limited lifestyle, and that I'd never be able to board him in a safe way. This meant I could never go away with my family without him, as the only people who could care for him were myself, my husband, and my daughter. Caitlin has been incredibly patient as we have slowly introduced Diesel to her and her facility. We've had a few sessions where we just walk around the property, allowing a slow, comfortable introduction. During our latest session, we sat in one of the yards and let Diesel off leash. I assumed Diesel would stick by me, too nervous to wander the large yard. Happily, I was wrong. He pretty much ignored me and focused on Caitlin. She had Diesel paying complete attention to her, responding to all of her cues and commands in a way I've never seen before. He was calm, relaxed, attentive and happy. He was doing everything she asked of him, because he wanted to, not because he was being "bullied" to. During that session, Caitlin looked at me and said "Diesel can board here. We'll make it work." I almost cried with relief and joy! Caitlin's intelligence and intuition guide her. Her presence is calm, and reassuring. Dogs don't only respect her, they genuinely like her. She has a special gift with animals. She is magical! Obviously, I HIGHLY RECOMMEND Caitlin if you have any training needs-from the most basic obedience to the most difficult issues. read more

I've had my pup here for 1 1/2 years now after taking her to another very well known local k-9 daycare facility previously. I can't say enough about how grateful I am for Four Paws Pet Ranch. The other facility I was taking my pup to would send her home smelling like urine,stressed and almost traumatized. It was so bad that I would have to take her to the self dog wash before bringing her home! I was so heartbroken that even my pup would shake and not want to get out of the car when arriving at the facility (I'll leave the place un-named) So when we started coming to Four paws I was not confident it would be any better. The previous center had a "state of the art" facility and seemed it would be a safe and great experience for my girl but it was anything but that! Four paws is definitely a country setting, dirt fields and a more rural feel where dogs can run and play and wow do they love it! The animals at Four Paws actually get attention and care. My pup is SO excited when we arrive, and the handlers tell me how much they enjoy playing and watching my girl... It isn't lip service either... I've shown up to have handlers run out to tell me how hilarious my Aussiedoodle is and how they love watching her play... makes my heart confident that this is the place where she should be! The prices for daycare are great and if you buy a package (that you can use whenever you want!) it's even more affordable. I'm new to Santa Rosa and a new cat owner. I boarded my cat for 3 nights. When I took her in I had a crate with a name tag on it and they also printed a label for it. When I picked her up, the label was moved to her food bag and I noticed the crate was dirty but just thought that might be typical. As I began driving home, I looked closer and this was NOT my crate. The one given to me was rusty, dirty and furry. So I called them on my drive home and left a message that I wanted mine back. Never heard from them...not cool. Four Paws exceeds expectations again. The only drawback is that my dog, Rocket, doesn't want to leave when I pick him up each day. I try not to take it personally, lol. Thank goodness for doggie daycares like Four Paws. But Four Paws is the second one I tried and the one I am sticking with. I've had my doggie for a little less than a year, and to be honest, I underestimated the amount of attention and the frequency of distractions a new dog presents. I know now. Four Paws gives Rocket a place to play and me time to catch up on work a couple of times a week. I am so grateful for both. There are certainly other doggy daycares. The place I was taking Rocket to before I found out about Four Paws was pretty good, too--but not as good as Four Paws, at least not for me and Rocket. After Rocket's first day there, it has been Four Paws all the way for us. The vast play area and the staff love dogs--you can tell. From a business standpoint, they accommodated schedule changes when I boarded him for four days and communicated well with me. I was reluctant to board him anywhere at first. But at Four Paws, it went without a hitch, besides my coming back a day later than planned, and Four Paws accommodated me perfectly. Nowadays, Rocket goes to Four Paws at least twice a week for Rocket's own good as much as mine, he loves playing with other dogs. Four Paws also makes it easy for me, with the curbside pick-up and drop-off and how down-to-earth their staff is. The other place had a nice staff, but not quite as accommodating as Four Paws. The other place didn't have curbside pick up and drop off either. Going into the office and checking Rocket in and out each day at the other place was a hassle - but no such hassle exists at Four Paws. And it warms my heart that the only hassle is my fragile ego when Rocket wants to stay when I pick him up. But I'm getting over that. I am writing this on Memorial Day; today, they exceeded expectations again. Even though Doggie Day Care was closed, they still accepted Rocket when his owner brought him without knowing. Why did they make an exception? In my opinion, because they care. Because they wanted to accommodate a dog that wanted to stay and play despite his owner's ignorance. The owner, Cory, made the exception on the spot and let Rocket stay. Thanks, Cory. And from all my experiences, the team at Four Paws models Cory's commitment to customer service.
