Starr pet resort has the best groomers in town! 10/10 recommend. Best to book in advance but they have accommodated us last minute.

Starr Pet Resort is clean and had great designated areas for dogs to roam around in to get out their energy. I had our rescue dog stay here one night to see how she would do since we will need to board her for upcoming trips that we have planned. The owners are very nice people and I was given a tour of the resort when I arrived since I hadn't been there before. The owners were very friendly and it's a beautiful resort. They took good care of our pup and we will definitely use their boarding services again. read more

I've never left my dogs before. I had to leave them for a week and was very picky about where they we're going to stay. I went to several kennels and was worried I wouldn't find a place I would leave my pups. Once I went to Starr resort I was totally impressed with everything. Jim, the owner, was very kind and showed us all around, he has a great set up and most of all is a real dog lover. The site is beautiful and very clean. My dogs were able to go about and run around in the grass. They even have air conditioning for those hot days. It wasn't home, but the dogs were happy while there and I will be back. October 4-11 2023 Had to leave my cat, my baby , Posey, while I had to go to a family reunion out of state. I dropped by to check out the facility. Even though I didn't have an app"t mt , Jim was very accommodating in my tour "inspection". I like'd what I saw. Everything was VERY clean and secure . I was very anxious, as I have never left her before and she is very shy and skiddish with people. Has a high flight instinct. Jim assured me that she would be safe according to the measures that they take with cats ( escape artists). Needless to say, I had more of a problem with separation then she did. I called mid stay ...she was doing fine , Jim sent me pics and a video of her wandering around/snooping. Jim and Sandi are the best! Our dogs absolutely love them and love going there. They don't even look back when we leave. Their property is immaculate and their care of our animals is always meticulous. Our dogs come home happy and healthy. Starr Pet Resort is AMAZING!! I kennel my dog here and she loves it. She runs away from me and right into the hands of Sandy and Jim. The environment is beautiful and Sandy and Jim, the owners, are passionate about what they do. They can also trim nails, bathe dogs and express anal glands. Pretty much a one-stop shop!! I am very fussy about kennels. My dog is a toy breed and very small so is easily hurt. Plus she is a "houdini" and can run between your legs and out the door. I no longer worry about her when she is at Starr. Recently I was unexpectedly hospitalized. I live alone and my dog was home in a crate. Sandy was able to come down to Santa Rosa (no small trip from the Windsor countryside) and pick my dog up and take her to their kennel. As well, when she picked up my dog Annie she saw some packages on my doorstep and brought them inside. If that's not going above and beyond I don't know what is!! I hadn't used Starr pet resort for a long time since my previous dog died. So this was the first time for Nala, my black Labrador who hadn't been in a kennel since she was a pup- she's 9 years old now. It seems my anxiety over how she would handle it was all for nothing. Jim and Sandy treated her royally! She had such fun based on the photos they texted me. I am almost reluctant to post this review because I want to keep this place available for me. Wonderful people, great place. We're new to the area in Windsor and we were looking for a Kennel for our two dogs. We have two golden retrievers and they are, basically, our other children. This is the 2nd time our dog has stayed here. We liked the resort so much the first time for a 2 night stay that we trusted them for a longer stay while we were on vacation. Couldn't have been happier, I received pictures of him during the week out playing and walking so I know he was getting fresh air daily. The owners seemed to adjust to his needs of using his bed because he likes to sleep on the floor, giving him special meds and excercising him one-on-one since he likes personal attention. I cannot rave enough about Sandi and Jim's Starr Pet Resort! I found them super last minute and they got my pet in without any issues. They were extremely thorough and showed me around so that I knew where my pet would be sleeping/playing/staying. The entire facility was immaculately clean and well cared for. I was instantly at ease because I knew my girl would also be cared for in the same way. They sent me pictures and gave my Maple one of the best haircuts she's ever had. I cannot recommend them enough for boarding, but also for grooming! Sandi does a beautiful and thorough job, something I have found is very hard to come by when grooming my golden-doodle and I have no desire to take her anywhere else after such a wonderful experience. We recently adopted Blackie from a shelter. Blackie is a 5-year old miniature poodle/schnauzer who is blind, but friendly, curious, energetic and a great fit for the family. I had to travel and wanted to know he was going to be in a place that was safe, warm, friendly, clean and didn't resemble the shelter where he had been staying (although the shelter was awesome as well, I knew he was still getting over the trauma). We found Starr and called Jim and Sandi and went over to look. Place is cleaner than my house! Jim and Sandi are super friendly and engaging. I brought Blackie, his bedding, toys, snacks and signed him up for an extra daily 'nature walk' b/c he loves getting out and about. When I picked him up I was a bit worried about his behavior once he was home. I had read some dogs could show you how unhappy they were you had left them. But that wasn't the case at all. He was the same happy go lucky dog we know and love. I can't tell you how relieved I was knowing that he was safe and comfortable while I was away. Beautiful grounds, very very clean, heated floors, nice size kennels with indoor and outdoor areas. They take them out twice a day to a play area to let them run around and burn off energy. They have a bunch of other offerings including a 'nature walk'. You can bring your pets bedding and toys and any other comforts from home. I have to travel again next week and already have a spot reserved for Blackie. Love knowing he'll be well taken care of while I'm gone. read more

I've been bringing my two huskies here for over four years. Being big dogs, and huskies, they can be a bit of a challenge. But Jim and Sandi handle them with no effort at all. The dogs are always very happy to arrive and run up to the counter to greet whoever is sitting there. When I am walking back to my car and Jim and Sandi are bringing them back to the kennel, they just prance right along side and don't even look back at me. When I pick them up, they are always happy and healthy. Other than missing my kids when I travel, I never worry about them when they are at Starr. And Jim helps with the missing them part by sending pictures every couple of days. read more

What a great place for our two Chihuahuas to stay! The place is impecable, no odors and the boarders seemed very happy. Could have not found a better facillity for them to spend the weekend. When we picked them up, they were happy and not stressed at all. We will use their resort again. The owners were very helpfull and we highly recommend them if you are planning a trip to Wine Country. I used to own a Boarding/Training Facility so I am very particular as to where I will board my 12 year olde Chihuahua and my son's 1 year olde as well. Just had to give a "shout out" for Starr Pet Resort. For the past 4 years, our Sheltie, Pax, has been vacationing at Starr Pet Resort. Every time we drive up to drop him off, he can hardly wait to get out of the car and greet Sandi and Jim. They are most accommodating and take good care of Pax.
