After our daycare and boarding kennel closed we were lucky to find Balanced Behavior-new to Windsor. We called and met Caity-who was fabulous!! I absolutely love this place! It is a very clean and organized facility. The staff always happily greets me and my dogs upon arrival. They know each and every dog, their needs and are very knowledgeable about dog behaviors. One of my dogs has anxiety and cannot be out with other dogs at times. The staff is excellent and top of knowing when it is overwhelming for her. They are always on top of my dogs needs. I completely trust Balanced Behavior always has the best interest of my dogs in many aspects. Because of this every time I drop my dogs off for just a daycare stay or a overnight stay I know they will be happy and well cared for. Of course they are missed but at least I don't have to worry. The staff at Balanced Behavior are the absolute best. Our dog loves them and they all know him by name. It is so nice to hear "hey Garth!" when we walk up with our pup. This place is as good as it gets, its clean (like REALLY clean), has plenty of room for pups, and even a pool for those hot summer days. They make it easy to schedule daycare or overnights with text messaging, and they will even text pictures of your dog to you while you are away on trips- how thoughtful! What we really love about Balanced Behavior is how amazing Caity is. She helped us with our rescue pup SO much with her amazing training. We not only learned basics like sit, stay, and recall, but she really taught us how to read and listen to our dog, and how to become more responsible dog owners overall. Since working with Caity I have gotten o much more confidence in our dog and our relationship has gotten stronger, he really listens and trusts me. Caity has taken care of my American Stafford shire Terrier Holly many times and this time kept her for 2 weeks while we were in India. I did not worry a bit as Holly loves Caity. Caity is professional, trust worthy and responsible and is very easy to work with. I don't require training for Holly although I can see that she is a great trainer but I do require that Holly gets lots of exercise that is not too demanding because she has had 2 TPLO surgeries and Holly needs lots of love. Caity always says Holly is easy but really Holly simply loves her and is very happy with her. Sometimes when we go to pick her up she doesn't want to leave!! We hired Caity for our 11 month old Frenchton puppy "Macie". Her issues were barking at people when first greeting them, jumping on the furniture, walking on a leash, coming when called and lying down. Caity came out for the initial visit and taught us a lot about how dogs think and what we as humans do wrong. During that same visit she taught us how to invite her onto the couch when we want her to sit with us. Also how to stop the craziness when meeting a person who comes through our door with the great trick of a small water bottle & 5 pennies. We hired Caity back last week (Macie was now 1 year old) to help with our other issues. In only an hour Macie was making huge progress. I'm really sad to say that I had a really bad experience here when attempting to board my second dog. As soon as I approached the facility for an assessment three staff members approach my dog and I and started shaking their heads / making negative comments such as we don't think this is going to work and your dog is not a good fit for boarding, they continued to say things like you need to work with him way more to get him socialize. I was totally stunned and confused as they hadn't even brought my dog into the the small pup play yard to let him see / introduce him to the other dogs. I finally suggested that they give my dog a chance to meet/view the other dogs from the other side of the fence and slowly introduce him inside and give him a chance to warm up/ be a little less timid. The staff members agreed and I went inside the office to check on paperwork while doing this I was told by the front desk associate that she could not locate my paperwork, this was a huge red flag for me as I have had paperwork on file for years and had updated my paperwork many times as I bring my 1st dog here regularly. Hearing this was highly concerning to me as I'm not clear on what happened to my info and if there was an emergency would they have been able to locate my information? I would have appreciated a little more positivity and some solutions from the staff members. They could have suggested doing an assessment with both dogs together or doing a longer assessment to see if my dog would warm up after a bit. My dog loves other dogs however he is still young so he takes a while warm up to new things and situations. I would recommend more of a solutions approach, more positivity and organization from Balanced Behavior. It feels as if they are only will to accept dogs that warm up immediately to other dogs and if your dog needs any kind of TLC they are not willing to help. Needless to say I will not be returning here. read more

Would give zero stars if I could. They put an electric collar on my family's dog without asking, and when we asked the girl about it she simply laughed. We loved this place before, obviously refuse to subject our dog to that now. Would be easily resolved if they at least let us know. read more

We absolutely LOVE Balanced Behavior! Caity and her staff are just about too good to be true. If I could give them 10 stars, I would. We have been taking our terrier rescue to Balanced Behavior for about 8 months. He jumps out of the car with utter joy when we drop him off for daycare or an overnight. He comes home exhausted after a day of playing with all his doggy and human friends. When he stayed there for 2 weeks while we were on vacation, Caity trained him to heel, sit, and go to his bed. He was a changed dog when we returned. No more pulling on the leash or getting underfoot. It was like magic. I agree with everything that the other reviewers have said. This place is the best. Recently, we were away for the weekend when Windsor was evacuated because of the Kincade Fire. Caity and her crew evacuated 30 dogs in 90 minutes! Some were there for daycare so they got picked up. However, Caity had to leave with 9 dogs. She first went to a place that had some land in Forestville. When they were evacuated from Forestville, she took all the dogs to a Vacaville Kennel that she knows. Our dog was recovering from a contagious illness so he couldn't be near other dogs. One of Caity's employees, Dionne, took him home with her and kept him for 5 nights until the evacuation order was lifted in Healdsburg, where we live. Dionne bought him food and toys and her family gave him lots of love and attention. She kept in touch with me daily and sent us cute pictures of our dog living the good life. I am forever grateful!!! My husband and I went traveling for 2 months and left our dog, Mia, with my parents. We enlisted Caity to take Mia on dog outings with other dogs once a week. Caity was nothing short of amazing. Caity went out of her way to really help us and our dog Wally... and it was totally worth it!! She made time in her schedule and came an hour out of her way to meet with us. The first session was not what I expected, but it exceeded expectations. First, we sat down and she talked to us about dog behavior and taught us about dog history, reasons for acting out, growth and development etc. I felt more knowledgeable from that conversation than hours of internet searching I had done. After, we had a short training session with Wally. Within that 40 minutes, he was already showing improvements. By the time Caity left, Wally was tired from already showing responsiveness to the training. We have followed up with her directions and it has been just weeks and Wally has drastically improved. He listens, obeys commands, and is on his way to learning great life skills. I would highly recommend Caity and Balanced Behavior Dog Training. It was cheaper than other services I looked into, longer time for training, and we had great results. Wally is a rescued adoptive chewinnie who had aggressive behavior that was fear based. Thanks to Caity I now have a new dog. When I first brought my rescued hound mix to balanced behavior she was a nervous mess. Uncontrollable. I had my dog for about 7 months or so before taking her to Balanced Behavior and I wish I went sooner. My dog was so much work. She pulled so hard on her leash. She didn't listen to me...ever. she was so anxious everywhere we went. Barked at every dog she saw. Really gave my husband and I a headache for long a time. However after the 5 week obedience training I have a new dog! Lucy is so well behaved walks besides me listens to my commands and loves to work. I wish we could keep training together. I finally have a way to communicate with my dog. Lucy has never been happier. She can be off leash and run around with her friends now. She doesn't bark at every dog she sees. She's less anxious and stressed. It is amazing what Caity helped us accomplish! I honestly can not recommend her enough. Not only did she train my dog she trained me and she was so awesome to work with just an all around awesome Girl Boss! I am so happy to have found Caity and highly recommend her. She worked wonders with my rescue dog and everyone comments on how he has mellowed. Actually, I think she taught me more than she taught the dog but I can now walk my dog with no lunging after cats, other dogs, men, etc. She came to the house so we could do the training in his own environment and she was always cheerful, dependable, calm and positive. It only required a few sessions and it has made a huge difference. In the year prior to finding Caity, I had interviewed several other trainers and felt shamed for having a poorly behaved dog plus it was recommended that he needed at least an intensive 6 month training class which I didn't have time for. Caity was able to accomplish a huge change in behavior in just a few sessions.
