She inquired about routines (pet demeanor, pet feedings, time of day we walked our dogs, etc). She expressed the importance of keeping our dogs on their usual routine to keep them comfortable and happy. Denise came over each day, multiple times a day to feed, play and walk our pets. She even fed our pet fish and kept our pet parakeet in good spirits by opening the blinds each day and ensuring her food was well maintained. They are like her family. A previous negative reviewer mentioned that the kennel smells? Really? How could that be? Could it be because there's like a hundred dogs in there?!? Just a guess. Our experience has been fantastic! In fact, there's a particular sheepskin style blanket that we only pull out for the dogs when they go to Auntie Barbara's. When they see it they immediately go crazy. One starts grabbing my pant leg with his teeth to drag me outside and the other jumps in my truck and starts honking the horn! I'm beginning to think they like it there. ;-) Anyway, I would highly recommend Barbara's place for anyone who wants their pet to have excellent, competent and loving care. Nuff said?

Bright and early on Monday morning, Mia showed up and stayed with Molly all day, taking her out and giving her the attention and affection she needed during this confusing transition from the shelter to a new home and family. She fit us in quickly because my black lab has surgery coming up this Wednesday, which I really appreciated. What truly sets her apart, though, is the care and understanding she shows for each dog. My fox red lab is extremely nervous around people. She usually barks, cowers, and takes a long time to warm up. Cathy generously offered for me to bring her in just to spend time in the space with her, her husband, and their dogs, purely to help her feel more comfortable. The moment we arrived, I could tell this place was special. The space is beautiful and clearly designed with dogs in mind, and Cathy herself is just lovely. Almost immediately, my nervous pup, who usually barks at everyone, was calmly approaching her, sniffing her hand, and even taking treats without making a sound. I was honestly amazed. I left feeling completely at ease, knowing both of my dogs were in the best possible hands. Cathy kept me updated throughout the entire visit, not only about my black lab's groom, but also about my other pup who wasn't even there for a groom. She simply took the time to help her build comfort and trust for future visits, which is something you just don't see often. When I came back, my black lab looked perfect, and both dogs were happy, relaxed, and honestly didn't want to leave. That says everything. People like Cathy are truly special. This is absolutely our place from now on.

It gets 15-20 degrees hotter inside of a car than the outdoor temperature reflects. Even if you're just running a quick errand and you think the animal is ok, you should never leave an animal in the car without a significant amount of air and never on a warm day. And when your job is to be a guardian to someone's beloved companion, it makes the act even worse. I would not entrust my family members to anyone who puts them in danger like this.

I can't even look down, so had to hire someone to feed my dogs twice a day. I have an older dog now who is not well and she can get picky about her food. She's lost a lot of weight and it's critical that she eat her meals, but has walked away from several different foods. Not only has Maureen taken amazing care of my dogs, I've learned so much from her about how to feed my aging, picky eater. My dogs are happy as clams and run to the door to greet her every time she's here. My ailing dog is actually doing better than she otherwise would have because of Maureen's experience.
