Heather and her team take the best care of my Maltipoo, London. My pup was a rehome situation and her early life was challenging. She came to us scared to death at 4 months old. Heather made a plan to gently help London understand and get accustomed to the grooming process. Heather has helped me and my family understand London, her breed, her needs, and tips tricks and hacks that make caring for her at home a breeze. I love that The Bark Side is so on it that they give me London's groom schedule for the whole year so I never have to wonder when her next appointment is or have to keep up with booking it myself. Highly recommend. read more

I've been taking my dog's to Heather for many years. Up until now, she was professional and friendly. She made a scheduling error ( confirmed 10:30 apt. but was actually 8:30. ) She offered to get us in at 12:30 which was going to be difficult for my schedule. Upon me sharing my concerns, she basically responded saying if we didn't show up, we would still have to pay for the apt. I made changes to my schedule and took my dog in. Heather was so condescending when I dropped off and picked up my dog. I left thinking she must just not want my business anymore. As I've read other reviews in here, apparently I'm not the only customer that she is condescending to. And, if she is like that with customers, how is she treating your pet? I'm at peace with my decision to move on. read more

LOVE this place!!! We had gone to multiple groomers for our rescue babes, we were pretty unhappy with them so I thought I would keep looking, then I found this amazing place:) We have found our place and will keep going. Our dogs have never looked so good and came home just as happy as can be! The owner and groomer is so knowledgeable and gentle with our little loves. What a great place! ..... My 4 month old Coton de Tulear puppy had his first grooming with Heather a month ago. She is very sensitive to puppy needs, is flexible with appointment times when necessary, does a beautiful job, and my puppy (who I was afraid would freak out at the experience) clearly had a fine time in Heather's capable hands. I highly recommend The Bark Side. read more

I love Heather! Better yet my dog, Sugar seems to enjoy her finishing groom. She hates getting in the car to go but loves showing off her perfect bath and groom from Heather when we get home. Bark Side is the best! read more

I love it here and I think my dog Kobe loves it even more. The lady who runs the shop lets you set up appointments in advance. Only $30 for two baths, nail trim, ear and teeth cleaning plus a cute tie. This is the only place I like to bring my doggie. read more

LOTS of capitalizations? I'll be happy to send the entire text string to Yelp, Heather. I capitalized one word - "especially" when referring to how you had lambasted me in front of another customer. If Yelp reach out to me after this post, I certainly will share our entire email and text strings! You're disingenuous and untruthful. While some things you said were true (how happy I was to have him back with a "good" groomer vs. the terrible grooms he received after we relocated), the rest of your response was untrue. What would I have had to be defensive of? You're the one who called me cruel (or whatever word semantics you'd like to claim). You should have been, and were, defensive of the wording you used because you didn't want to give my dog the cut he'd historically received from you - and which I asked for. No ethics about it, Heather. You mentioned nothing about "skin cancer", etc. Your untruths just get bigger and bolder! I didn't care that his hair was a bit longer than usual when I brought him back in to see you after a period of time, I was just happy his head and tail were shaped correctly. The second time, however, I wanted him cut as you had previously always cut him. Like I said, "Good groomer, bad attitude" read more

We have 2 dogs. A Springer and Cocker Spaniel. They spend a lot of time outdoors. Heather does a fantastic job not only cleaning them but trimming their hair so that their coats don't get so tangled. She also modifies the cut depending upon the seasons. Our dogs really like her and her workers. The dogs are always happy after they come back and want to show off how pretty they are. We love this place! read more

So far, so good. This review is based off of my first experience. Jennifer seems to really know what she's doing and has a lot of experience. She got done with my rowdy 65 pound puppy a lot faster than I thought she would. She didn't make me feel bad for how crazy my dog is. Instead, offering trainers that work with my breed. I will be seeing her many more times to come! Love how great Jake looks, he smells great, and I thought that it was impossible to get that much hair off of him, I've tried myself. :) read more

Heather, the owner, is a brilliant doggie groomer, I dare say an artist. I take my long-hair dachshund, Lily, to Heather on a regular basis, and I wouldn't consider taking her any where else. Not only is Heather incredibly talented, patient and thorough, she spent years training as a groomer and also as a vet tech before she opened her own shop -- so she has the skill set you won't likely find elsewhere. We all love our dogs, and we all want them to be doted on the way we dote on them ourselves - that's why I recommend The Bark Side. You won't be disappointed. read more

The Bark Side - Lily, A happy Barkside client - Pet Groomers Near Me - Santa Rosa, California

As a poodle professional new to Santa Rosa, I am thrilled to have been referred to Heather at The Bark Side. Few groomers really 'get' how to groom a Standard Poodle, so that they emerge from their beauty treatment with a great and elegant trim. Heather most competently followed through on delivering the kind of trim I asked for in a most professional way. Her grooming studio was clean, the poodles were calm and looked wonderful upon pickup.. I highly recommend her! read more

I have been taking my pug terrier mix to Heather for past six months. I love everything about this place.... the groomer, the bather, and the beautiful way Charles looks when I come to pick him up. Not only does he get a great bath from Stephen, who is so gentle and loving with the dogs, Heather does meticulous grooming. She also is very good about answering questions you may have. I highly recommend this grooming shop. Charles loves his spa day. read more

My new favorite. I have two dogs, a Goldendoodle (Teddy Bear variety... fluffy white mega-shedder) and a who knows... (I've heard Havanese, and Shihtzu/poodle) and had such a great experience at the Bark Side. BEST PUPPY CUT EVER!! For real. The short puppy ears...OMGAWWWW... my 11 year old dog looks so young and healthy, and I wanted to eat him for lunch he was so cute. Heather gave me such great tips on eye care and what lengths were suitable for these breeds... shared all kinds of great knowledge. Her prices were not as high as some places, and there was almost no wait to get in. A dream! I'll search around for a photo (I know I took one) or add a photo in a few weeks when we go back. read more

Changed my groomer to The Bark Side in Santa Rosa on Dutton - I LOVE HER!! She is the lone groomer, the salon is open in the front, not hidden and Charlie was totally not a nervous freak like in the past. Nothing but good things to say here. They took very good care of our dog, Tikka

It was a Saturday and my boyfriend had made several comments about how stinky Yodee, my pug was. So I took the hint and search Yelp for a groomer that was open. I stumbled onto The Bark Side and loved the name first and noticed the 5 star ratings second. The ratings seemed genuine and honest so I called Heather hoping she had an opening (I know how silly to try the Saturday before Xmas!). Luckily (for us) she had a client no show (super rude!) and fit us in. I asked her a few questions about a certain cut I'd given my pug in the past and she was honest and told me she never recommended it. She then went into detail why it was not good for my pug (thanks!) When the time came around to drop the stink bomb pug off, Heather was warm, kind and welcoming. She had 3 other (dog)clients there but made sure Yodee was checked in and spoke to us about his grooming needs. We left very confidant Yodee was in good hands. When we returned an hour and 1/2 later (fast!) she commented right away about how sweet Yodee was and how easy to groom. I was pleasantly surprised because for me he struggles a lot! Heather did a fantastic job!!! He smelled great and she de-shedded him SO well that he's barely shedding day too (an amazing feat for a pug!). He was happy to see us but I could tell he had very low anxiety and I knew that she cared about the animals' well being in her care. Her prices are very reasonable and I will be returning. Thank you Heather! read more

I brought my Cavalier King Charles in to get groomed. Heather was wonderful with her. She came out looking beautiful, smelling clean, and seemed very happy. Heather took time to talk with me and explain exactly what she would be doing. When I told her about a bad experience we had with another groomer, she explained exactly what she would do differently. I felt good leaving my baby girl at the Bark Side. I also brought my older dog in for her nails to be trimmed. I have not been good about keeping her nails clipped, and I was nervous about having them done now. Heather was fabulous with my dog, made her comfortable, clipped the nails quickly and painlessly. I made another appointment on the spot. I'm so happy to have found such a wonderful, safe place to have my pups groomed. read more

Heather did a wonderful job grooming my Maltipoo. She was a bit matted, and Heather put in extra work to give her a nice groom. She was very informative after the grooming and helped me to understand my dog's fur better. My dog is a rescue, and I've never had a dog that needs grooming. We look forward to supporting a local, small business owner that puts love and care into what she does. read more

Heather is now our forever groomer. We have a miniature poodle mix and a cairn terrier. She groomed the poodle last week and did a fabulous job. She also gave us a great tip for getting out tree pitch - Mayonaise! And the best part is that ginger looks almost as good a week later as she looked right after we picked her up. Today we took in our cairn terrier. She had never been professionally groomed and is a magnet for dirt and debris. We fondly refer to her as PigPen. Well not any more! After Heather did her magic, I didn't even recognize that dog! I only wish I had taken BEFORE as well as AFTER pics. Heather does a wonderful job, our dogs were very calm when returning home and her prices are more than reasonable. What else can you ask for! read more

I have spent a tremendous amount of time on Yelp trying to find my forever groomer and failing due to high price or not happy with the style of the cut. After going to The Bark Side it's official. Not only does heather have actual training she is extremely knowledgeable and informed me about multiple little tidbits I should know. I have 2 large dogs who only require baths and one tiny Yorkie who needs a haircut every 8 weeks, that being said the prices I was paying else where outrageous. Heather is very affordable and you won't regret giving her a try! read more

Heather is amazing! We were 'fired' by previous groomers because our one dog is incredibly anxious when it comes to being groomed and would freak out. Heather was patient as we found the right mix of pre-grooming medication. Now, both our dogs are happy, always stylishly groomed and she is super fast, and frankly, too reasonably priced for how amazing she is. Highly recommend! read more

Heather is the BEST groomer my dog has ever had!! I've been taking my 10 year old female portuguese water dog here for about 2ish years now and am always happy at how adorable she looks after her appointments. I used to take her to the big box pet store for her grooms but I was always unhappy with her haircuts there. I am so very grateful to have found Heather and for taking on my pup as a client. My dog is very wary and skittish of people she does not know well (and stubborn!) and getting groomed has always been anxiety producing for her. Heather is extremely knowledgeable and is able to handle my pup's behavioral eccentricities with great skill and care. Every time I bring my pup to her appointments here I've noticed she's less and less nervous and anxious each time. She's well taken care of here and that puts my mind at ease. Not to mention the fabulous haircuts she receives! Thanks Heather, you are a gem! read more

Fantastic job on both of my dogs! They both looked so manicured and clean beyond any other groomer. Not only were they bathed, several times, their leashes and collars were washed as well. I took my Australian Shepherd, Rosie, to the Bark Side last week. Full disclosure I have never washed my dog, mostly because she never felt dirty to me and runs through creeks and such, natural shower ya know? Anyway, Heather was amazing. She has a teriffic bedside manner and is certainly doing this because she genuinely cares about dogs. She effortlessly went the extra mile for Rosie, in spite of her terrible owner's (me) neglect. My dogs fur felt like human hair, luscious female celebrity human hair- it was like petting Meg Ryan. She even trimmed her coat. She told me Rose was uncomfortable having her head dried so Heather did not force it on her. I was so impressed by how considerate she was with everything about her business. I might go drag my dog through a mud field next week just to take her back there. Thanks a million, Heather! read more

This is hands down the best place to go for dog grooming in Sonoma county! I have a Cavalier King Charles spaniel and they are not an easy breed to groom but Heather always makes it look like a cinch! His coat is always so shiny and fresh smelling, his nails are trimmed to perfection so they don't hurt when he goes to paw me and she follows my instructions to a tee so that when I come to get him I know just how he's going to look when I walk through the door. Her attention to detail is amazing! She hand strips my dogs face and head so he looks fresh and sleek, his tail is trimmed into a perfect comb and when he wags it makes him look so regal, like a show dog. Heather herself is a joy to do business with. She is kind, thoughtful, hard working, dedicated and cares deeply about making sure every dog is well cared for and that every customer is satisfied. If you are looking for a new groomer than look no further because Heather at The Bark side is your lady! Now what are you waiting for?! Go make your appointment! read more

My beloved boxer, Tank, LOVES Heather. He got the spa treatment, a de-shedding treatment, full bath, a blueberry facial and his nails clipped. Tank is an older dog and requires some TLC. I tried to book on short notice for an emergency with my dog. Although she could not take my dog, Heather took the time to give me guidelines to follow when booking with someone else. I have a Finnish Laphund and if a groomer doesn't know this breed and does it wrong, they will cause irreversible and potentially life altering damage to the dogs hair. Heathers warning of what to ask and verify as to avoid this was so over the top for someone that knowingly wasn't going to do the grooming. The time she took to warn me is beyond impressive and speaks volumes as to the care and love that she treats her clients pets. I will absolutely be bringing her my dogs from now on. read more
