I've been taking my dog's to Heather for many years. Up until now, she was professional and friendly. She made a scheduling error ( confirmed 10:30 apt. but was actually 8:30. ) She offered to get us in at 12:30 which was going to be difficult for my schedule. Upon me sharing my concerns, she basically responded saying if we didn't show up, we would still have to pay for the apt. I made changes to my schedule and took my dog in. Heather was so condescending when I dropped off and picked up my dog. I left thinking she must just not want my business anymore. You should have been, and were, defensive of the wording you used because you didn't want to give my dog the cut he'd historically received from you - and which I asked for. We have 2 dogs. A Springer and Cocker Spaniel. They spend a lot of time outdoors. Heather does a fantastic job not only cleaning them but trimming their hair so that their coats don't get so tangled. She also modifies the cut depending upon the seasons. Our dogs really like her and her workers. The dogs are always happy after they come back and want to show off how pretty they are. She got done with my rowdy 65 pound puppy a lot faster than I thought she would. She didn't make me feel bad for how crazy my dog is. Instead, offering trainers that work with my breed. My new favorite. I have two dogs, a Goldendoodle (Teddy Bear variety... fluffy white mega-shedder) and a who knows... (I've heard Havanese, and Shihtzu/poodle) and had such a great experience at the Bark Side. BEST PUPPY CUT EVER!! For real. The short puppy ears...OMGAWWWW... my 11 year old dog looks so young and healthy, and I wanted to eat him for lunch he was so cute. Heather gave me such great tips on eye care and what lengths were suitable for these breeds... shared all kinds of great knowledge. I brought my Cavalier King Charles in to get groomed. Heather was wonderful with her. She came out looking beautiful, smelling clean, and seemed very happy. Heather took time to talk with me and explain exactly what she would be doing. When I told her about a bad experience we had with another groomer, she explained exactly what she would do differently. I felt good leaving my baby girl at the Bark Side. I also brought my older dog in for her nails to be trimmed. I have not been good about keeping her nails clipped, and I was nervous about having them done now. Heather was fabulous with my dog, made her comfortable, clipped the nails quickly and painlessly. Heather is now our forever groomer. We have a miniature poodle mix and a cairn terrier. She groomed the poodle last week and did a fabulous job. She also gave us a great tip for getting out tree pitch - Mayonaise! And the best part is that ginger looks almost as good a week later as she looked right after we picked her up. Today we took in our cairn terrier. She had never been professionally groomed and is a magnet for dirt and debris. We fondly refer to her as PigPen. Well not any more! I've been taking my 10 year old female portuguese water dog here for about 2ish years now and am always happy at how adorable she looks after her appointments. I used to take her to the big box pet store for her grooms but I was always unhappy with her haircuts there. I am so very grateful to have found Heather and for taking on my pup as a client. My dog is very wary and skittish of people she does not know well (and stubborn!) and getting groomed has always been anxiety producing for her. It was a Saturday and my boyfriend had made several comments about how stinky Yodee, my pug was. So I took the hint and search Yelp for a groomer that was open. I stumbled onto The Bark Side and loved the name first and noticed the 5 star ratings second. The ratings seemed genuine and honest so I called Heather hoping she had an opening (I know how silly to try the Saturday before Xmas!). Luckily (for us) she had a client no show (super rude!) and fit us in. I asked her a few questions about a certain cut I'd given my pug in the past and she was honest and told me she never recommended it. She then went into detail why it was not good for my pug (thanks!) When the time came around to drop the stink bomb pug off, Heather was warm, kind and welcoming. She had 3 other (dog)clients there but made sure Yodee was checked in and spoke to us about his grooming needs. We left very confidant Yodee was in good hands. When we returned an hour and 1/2 later (fast!) she commented right away about how sweet Yodee was and how easy to groom. I was pleasantly surprised because for me he struggles a lot! Heather did a fantastic job!!! He smelled great and she de-shedded him SO well that he's barely shedding day too (an amazing feat for a pug!). He was happy to see us but I could tell he had very low anxiety and I knew that she cared about the animals' well being in her care. Her prices are very reasonable and I will be returning. This is hands down the best place to go for dog grooming in Sonoma county! I have a Cavalier King Charles spaniel and they are not an easy breed to groom but Heather always makes it look like a cinch! His coat is always so shiny and fresh smelling, his nails are trimmed to perfection so they don't hurt when he goes to paw me and she follows my instructions to a tee so that when I come to get him I know just how he's going to look when I walk through the door. Her attention to detail is amazing! She hand strips my dogs face and head so he looks fresh and sleek, his tail is trimmed into a perfect comb and when he wags it makes him look so regal, like a show dog. My westie looks great

I took my Australian Shepherd, Rosie, to the Bark Side last week. Full disclosure I have never washed my dog, mostly because she never felt dirty to me and runs through creeks and such, natural shower ya know? Anyway, Heather was amazing. She has a teriffic bedside manner and is certainly doing this because she genuinely cares about dogs. She effortlessly went the extra mile for Rosie, in spite of her terrible owner's (me) neglect. My dogs fur felt like human hair, luscious female celebrity human hair- it was like petting Meg Ryan. She even trimmed her coat. She told me Rose was uncomfortable having her head dried so Heather did not force it on her. I was so impressed by how considerate she was with everything about her business. My beloved boxer, Tank, LOVES Heather. He got the spa treatment, a de-shedding treatment, full bath, a blueberry facial and his nails clipped. Tank is an older dog and requires some TLC. I tried to book on short notice for an emergency with my dog. Although she could not take my dog, Heather took the time to give me guidelines to follow when booking with someone else. I have a Finnish Laphund and if a groomer doesn't know this breed and does it wrong, they will cause irreversible and potentially life altering damage to the dogs hair. Heathers warning of what to ask and verify as to avoid this was so over the top for someone that knowingly wasn't going to do the grooming. Favorite! My dog is very big and particular and loves going to see Heather at the Bark Side! She is fast and very knowledgable with all different breeds of dogs.
