We drove all the way from SF to wash our pup because no dog washes in SF are open yet because of COVID. We made an appointment for Saturday at 9am and the facilities are super nice. The place is really clean with plenty of soap and amazing strong air blowers for our fur baby. The owner is also really friendly and nice. We got turned away because my dog is a pit bull. after I explained to the older lady hat type of dog he was she then proceeded to say "is he more pit bull ? or more boxer ? as if that mattered for a nail trim? just say your not experienced with the service you're trying to provide . or matter of fact just say you don't like pitbulls. she then proceeded to tell me she's the only one in the whole building that does nail trims .... no one else does them. and she couldn't take my dog because she just had carpel tunnel surgery? how does that make sense ? take a leave of absence if you cannot properly do your job . please cancel this place . Can confirm..the vibe in here is way off. The customer service, aka, snide remarks spoken to other clients on our behalf were at the very least entertaining. Nikki the owner gave us her best passive aggressive 30 second explanation of how to use her basic self service dog wash station. After we were done, I also got to be reprimanded by not closing the gate within 2 seconds of me walking thru it. Which was okay, cause I was able to hear her mock me to her other clients... So all in all it was entertaining, and a laughable experience. Had to pass on the "buy 10 washes and the 20th is half off" pitch tho, bummer. My fur baby is difficult (that's an understatement) to handle when his paws are handled - somehow she has always been able to trim his nails, perfectly, and with no cuts or bleeding or anything like that. I have been taking my Australian Shepherd to Paws Grooming for years. He is not an easy client, but Nikki is always patient and gentle with him. Nikki listens to my grooming request and my boy always looks great. Paws Grooming Salon is very welcoming, extremely clean and the staff is friendly. I like using the self serve tubs for my other dog. The equipment is in great shape and the steps into the tub are very helpful for larger dogs. I had scheduled an appointment to have nail trimming performed for my two dogs. When booking the appointment I was told she would work on one dog in the back as I was to wait with my other dog in the lobby. Not realizing I had arrived a few minutes early, I was told not come in to the building yet. (that was fine) Funny thing, no other person or dog left the building when she (Nikki) came out 7 minutes after my appointment scheduled time. She came out and asked me to leave one dog in my car. It was 72 degrees out and I told her it was too hot to do that and besides I could get a ticket for doing so. Not to mention I would never leave my dogs in the car like that. She proceeded to tell me that I had a bad attitude and did not want to service my dogs. I WOULD NEVER EVER REFER THIS PERSON, NIKKI AT PAWS GROOMING SALON, FOR ANY SERVICE. My husband was getting our dog's nails clipped and was about to wash him. All this by appointment due to social distancing. A women walked up to the door early for her appointment. Nikki asked her to wait for my husband to be done before coming in. She was obviously annoyed that she had to wait. She kept looking inside to see why she had to wait. Body language showed she was not happy. While my husband was still washing our dog Nikki went out to talk to the woman. Whatever was said the woman then left. She then posted a negative review here. This grooming place looks very clean. Parking is a little tricky however. The reason for the low stars is because of the customer service. I am huge on service. I went in today to get my pup cleaned at their self service. I was talking to one of the ladies who work there about their services. She then asked what kind of dog I have and I told her a lab mix. She then looked over to him and then told me "More like a pit bull mix" and then proceeded to stick up her nose at him and became very rude and short about the services offered. I was very upset by this. It was extremely rude and why on earth would you correct an owner even IF they are wrong. There also much more nicer ways to say it as well. IE oh I think he has some pit bull as well. You don't have to be rude. There was another employee who was super kind and asking how old and giving him cookies. But the other lady put such a sour taste in my mouth that I thanked them for their time and then left and took my business elsewhere. read more

Nikki is one of the most condescending people I have ever met. She has groomed my dogs for about three years and and I thought I had a good and trustful relationship with her. All of sudden I get a random text today after I drop my dogs off like I normally do that says "I will no longer groom your dogs, have a nice day". I have never seen anything more unprofessional! The only explanation I got was that she does not like grooming yorkies or any terroir dog because they do not sit still. I'm sorry, but you can't really pick and choose what dogs you groom when your business says it caters to all! As a business, I believe that Nikki should be trained enough to freon all dogs whether they wiggle or not. read more

I have used Paws for the past 5 years. Since my Goldendoodle was 4 months old. We moved out of the area a several months ago. If you are lucky enough to be on Nikki's grooming list consider yourself very fortunate. She is by far the best groomer around. I said list because one person can only have so many clients. She only has so much time. So YES she can choose what dogs/dog parents she wants to work with. So, treat her with kindness. She works very hard. She takes wonderful care of her dog clients and their owners. My dog loves her, loves going to get groomed. She is a real groomer. She takes care of the ears, paws, points out issues and helps. If you are looking for a great groomer I would suggest getting on her list. Or her waiting list. She will manage your appointments. And keep your dog looking great. I have used PAWS self-service dog wash lots of times. It's easy, cheap, and kind of fun. You do need to call before just showing up to see if a station is available. Stairs to walk your dog up into the tub. Everything you need including towels and a great professional blow dryer! And no clean up at home! I have used a new groomer in Roseville. It has been a very bad experience. They do not pull ear hair and trim around the paws as well. I noticed the ear hair and requested it be done again on the next appointment. It was not. Several weeks later my Goldendoodle ended up with double ear infections and a hematoma on his ear. $ 600.00 later from the vet here we are. The vet told me it was a grooming issue. Not pulling the hair out of the ears. Lots of dog breads have this issue. If not taken care of they end up with ear infections. As the vet handed me a bag full of hair and wax pulled from my dog's ears. I reached out to the new groomer and was told that they do not do that standard. You must request it. And I did. Point is.....why is it not standard for them? That is not professional grooming. I drove to Nikki this week. Explained what has been going on. She stayed after hours and groomed my Goldendoodle. Avoiding his ear stiches. He looks fabulous! He loves her. Ran right into her arms and ran around the place. He missed her. Nikki is a wonderful person beside a fabulous groomer. Nikki has honestly been a hero to our family! She is much much more than just a groomer. Her background from working for a vet helped our dog and us tremendously. I first discovered Nikki when I was on the hunt for a new groomer and found her coupon. I was immediately impressed with the time she spent with me on the phone addressing my concerns and needs for my older dog. It had been recommended by the last groomer that he be sedated. Nikki addressed all of my concerns with that approach and wanted to meet and work on him first before looking at the idea of sedating him. She did not find sedation necessary and I was amazed with how great he looked and how happy he was when I picked him up. Her skill is fantastic. I could not have been happier with his haircut. He smelled wonderful and continued to smell great for a few weeks after. I am not sure what product she uses but it was definitely an upgrade from what we were used to. Nikki really has a way with dogs and I attribute that to her extensive knowledge. I would literally have to drag him in the door to our previous groomer. He was nervous the second time we went to see her and she just simply walked out and began petting and reassuring him. He walked right in with her as if to say "Oh yea I remember you. You are good!" I was really appreciative of Nikki when I called her for advise after a bad visit with our vet. She was spot on with everything and really made me feel better as well as Buddy. Our sweet Buddy just passed away and I am beyond thankful for Nikki's love, help and support in Buddy's last weeks. She was way more helpful than our vet of 15 years!!!
