One of the women working there told me about a special if I signed up on the app, and because of her tip I ended up getting a $12 credit for my next visit--such a nice surprise and I'm so glad she mentioned it. The whole store had a genuinely positive energy. I needed some assistance and was a quick response; , people were actually pleasant and engaged. I even got a solid recommendation for cat food for my finicky older cat from another clerk--so helpful. Is the store is under new management because the customer service today was next level. Yesterday I gave up on this place, the ONLY good aspect is that its next to Trader Joes. The staff is always cranky, on their phone, or unavailable. The layout is so tight that their sloppy behavior makes it impossible to shop for things one needs without crashing i to piles of dog food, "caution wet floor pyramids on a dry floor, restocking carts piled up next to the seasonal dog costumes I came in to buy and it stinks. No chew bones restocked, sitting in a box in a pile while the staff is on their phone. The checkout line is five customers long with empty checkout lanes. Go up to the Lompoc Pet Smart to see how its done. The staff actually helps you, its clean, people bring family Members into their store to shop because its fun. I recently had my dog groomed at PetSmart on Milpas and my compliments to the grooming staff. They are very good and talented professionals. My groomer was Katelin and she spent a lot of time making sure Jack was just right for the holidays! If I could give zero stars, I would. I'm extremely disappointed with the grooming service at the PetSmart on Milpas, especially with the groomer, Katelyn. I asked for a *tiny trim* for my dog and emphasized that I just wanted a light shaping. I checked in three times during the appointment, and each time I was told everything was fine. When I finally came to pick him up, I was shocked to see he had been completely shaved--and unevenly at that. My 10-year-old daughter burst into tears when she saw him. To their credit, the staff did refund me, but the experience was so upsetting that a refund doesn't begin to make up for it. I sincerely hope this doesn't happen to anyone else's pet. On top of that, when I asked for help with a harness, the employees seemed confused and unable to assist. The reason people shop online is the the service they get at brick and mortar stores. Today I called to see if a brand of dog food I had purchased a few weeks before was in stock. The girl who answered the phone was too lazy to check the shelves so she just said "we don't have anything like that." I ordered a bag from Chewy. Ginger has become a quivering puddle of nerves during fireworks, so on July 4th, I decided to get her a thunder shirt. It was too late to order it from Amazon, so I hit up PetSmart online, and was pleased to discover that: 1) they had a thunder shirt in stock, and 2) you can order and pay online and drive up and they'll bring it to your car. Perfect pandemic business transaction! So, that's what we did. Ordered a few other sundries and drove over, called from the car, and boom! Here came a nice young lady, who handed over the loot. As a traveller, going from my holiday in the US, back to New Zealand, I was anxious to pick up a bunch of gifts for my fur kid. Enter, PetSmart, Santa Barbara. The store was tidy, well stocked and clearly set out. The staff were very helpful. I can not fault their willingness to assist me and I learnt a thing or two from a 3rd staff member, who clearly had a passion for fighting fish. Every visit seems to surpass the previous one with regards to superior customer service and assistance (with each one flawless). Today I stopped in to return a problematic online order. No one likes returns. I apologized and felt better when they assured me it was no problem. There was a short line upon entering, and I walked to the next place in line. Everyone was wearing masks and even social distancing. I was happy to see this in the store. I was standing for a brief moment when almost simultaneously I heard a voice state, "I can help you on register one." I eagerly approached checkout. I sent my dog to Pet Smart for a regular grooming. The groomer shaved and cut her to the skin. Cut her ears off until she bleed and formed a hematoma. I was never contacted, they took her to a veterinarian who performed a procedure to drain the blood clot, stitched up and put on fentanyl. This was a horrific experience for my dog and me. Where do I even start?! This place is horrible! I dropped my dog off today to get groomed at 2:30pm, only to get a call at 5pm to pick up my dog because they're not able to groom him because they're too busy. Ummm... I had my appointment set for almost a month! Not only did they not groom my dog... They told me there's no upcoming appointments and to try the Goleta location! Do yourself a favor and don't go here! The parking lot was so dead last Sunday I wondered if they were open. They were... I walked in and was quickly greeted by an employee. I browsed around, noticing that this store doesn't sell live mammals or reptiles/amphibians/insects. Just tropical fish and aquarium plants. Shortly after I walked in I (and the employees) noticed a pair of friendly big dogs wandering the aisles. They asked if the dogs were mine and I said no. They didn't know where they came from but as I was shopping I overheard the employees and manager figuring out what to do with the dogs. They seemed sincerely concerned and well meaning. They handled the dogs gently and courteously. I bought some holiday stuff on clearance and my visit was done. Clean store, brightly lit and well stocked. Happened to have some very old holiday items on sale when I was there (up to 5 month old holidays). Which is kind of cool if you missed the just-after-Christmas-sale. read more

I made an appointment for my dog to get his nails trimmed & they said I had to bring his rabies vaccine record which is fine. I get here and I show her my pdf and I let her know i got my dog in Mexico and he got his shots there (2020), that's how I was able to get him to fly on the airplane with me. Otherwise he wouldn't Be able to. (OBVIOUSLY!!!!) She proceeds to say she can't do it because it doesn't have seal or a date when it was done (it did have a date) But didn't have an expiration date or seal.. And I just said they told me to get it done every 4 years like most rabies vaccines. She then says she definitely can't do it bc doesn't have a seal, doesn't have a date it was done, doesn't have a rabies sheet or something like that and when it expires. I show her my others dogs form that was done here in SB!! (Noah's Ark) that has even has his picture on it!! To show her it doesn't have a seal, doesn't have a date it was administered and she goes yeah I can't do that one either. Lady what!!?!!? Do you expect me to re-administer my dog with a vaccine? Really Petsmart? You can't even keep your goldfish alive!! I went into this store on Milpas yesterday and I noticed a mass of dead goldfish in three in three large tanks. When I asked, the clerk said, "oh yeah we weren't managing the filter properly." (I posted pictures) Two days before I was in picking up larger items and didn't see any available carts so I asked at the register and the staff person said, "Oh we only have one cart in the store right now" pointing to the customer in line with the cart. Great, convenient location for those in eastern Santa Barbara. PetSmart weathered the storm while Petco, just a few blocks down Milpas, went under. It's in a small shopping center right next to Trader Joe's, so you can imagine how busy the parking lot may get during peak hours. I've never personally had an issue finding a spot. There's a security guard walking the grounds as well. I enjoy coming to PetSmart as it offers a wider range of merchandise compared to a smaller, traditional pet store (of which there are very few in town). I come here for fish food, aquarium filters, and affordably-priced tapeworm/flea meds for my cat. The selection is a hit or a miss. Either I find what I need or I don't, here. Chances are that if the item isn't in stock, they will special order it for you. I know that this spot also offers dog grooming services. Not applicable to my cat (though he thinks he's a dog), so I can't really comment on that component! Overall, a decent store. I will be back soon for more filters. read more

So my mother who doesn't drive and has difficulty getting out made 3 different appointments for grooming at this location. Everytime she would get a confirmation & then when she showed up they would tell her the groomer was out or something came up. So the (4th) last time they had her set up for an appointment at 3pm on a Tuesday. She gets there 10 mins late and they tell her she has to reschedule. At this point she tells them no thank you. I mean who would? This pet store is highly unprofessional. Someone needs to manage this place better. Never going back with our dogs. read more

We adopted a dog last year with severe anxiety and have been bringing her here to get adjusted to grooming and the staff has been phenomenal. Anna in particular is incredible, and has spent weeks getting to know our pup and let her work up to being near other people/dogs. The rest of the staff often recognizes our dog too and always says hi and stops by. We've never had anything but positive experiences here and we're here almost once a week! read more

This is the store we go to because they stock our dogs' favorite treats and food. It is a nicely stocked store. A couple of days ago we stopped in to restock and found it to be rather busy. There was one employee in the store a young black woman (except for a groomer who did not come out or interact with customers). She was working the register and answering the phone. At one point she stepped from behind the register to briefly assist a customer and she announced the fact that she was the only employee in the store. She also apologized and assured the present customers that she would be right back. She came back promptly and continued to work the register and answer the phone as she had before with an excellent tone and customer service. I did not catch her name but she identified herself as a manager. When our turn came and she rang up our purchases I just had to complement both her professionalism and customer service skills. There was a bit of a wait but I never felt ignored or disrespected. I only hope that her supervisors will read this and include these comments in her next review. She was simply excellent. read more

We enjoyed coming here and service was great, except the groomer cut our dogs whiskers off!! They open at 9am on Sundays so we dropped our Australian Shepherd, Stella, off before Sunday football, which was perfect for us since we were on a baby moon and from out of town. They called us to pick her up and we did! She was cut and groomed short but very nicely so we tipped the groomer $20.. and she seemed fine so we took her to the toy isle and got her a toy! The price did not match the tag at the isle but the manager was more than happy to honor the sale price we saw it for. We drove 3 hours home and noticed our fur baby was acting reallyyyyy weird. Then we finally get home and she was just acting sad, lazy, tired.. and so unlike her normal 4yr old happy, hyper puppy like self.. then we noticed. She doesn't have any whiskers! so we googled it and you are not supposed to cut cats or dogs whiskers as they use it for senses and it can throw them off! We were so disappointed and after talking to some friends about it they all said the groomer should have known. So if anything, this review is to let the store know to train their groomers to not cut the whiskers of animals, unless their owners specify! read more

Someone at Corp. needs to wake up. I try to give local brick and mortar businesses my business but PetSmart is a perfect example of why they are loosing the battle with Amazon. I went to the store today and there was only ONE employee insight. I looked up and down the aisles and in the back, NO one. I needed to pick up 3 items. One of them I could not find at all, anywhere after going up and down the aisles 3 times. I final found 2 or the 3 but that was 25 mins. later. I was checking out and then all of a suddenly there were to more employees at the 2nd register just talking. I have no idea where they were hiding? If retailers want to complete they have to do it with service and that was poorly lacking. This is not the first time I have tried to get help @Petsmart with very limited luck! My little whippet mix has very fast growing nails & she catches her dewclaws fairly often. Being a temporary resident, my usual groomer isn't here, nor is my vet. I brought me dog in as a walk in & Antonio clipped & filed her nails, tenderly treating the dew claw I was concerned about. My dog wasn't happy with it bring touched & Antonio stopped work to stroke & talk to my dog before resuming his work. He spent about 20 minutes on her nails, way longer than her typical groomer spends. What I found to be stellar was his kindness & care to my dog. We were visiting Santa Barbara, and we had taken our dog to the beach. When we had taken our eyes off of him for 2 seconds, he drank a TON of salt water and got very sick (without going into too much detail, he was in desperate need of a bath). Normally we would just do it ourselves at home but we were staying in a hotel and the situation would have been very difficult to do ourselves. We made an appointment online for first thing in the morning (9am) and we rushed over to the store. We were first helped out by a very friendly young woman ( so sorry I can't remember your name!). She may have been the manager, if she wasn't- she should be! She was very professional with us and did a quick assessment on our pup. Immediately we felt like he would be in great hands! Then our groomer came in (her name was Anna), and she took SUCH good care of our boy! We left and came back while she was finishing up with our dog, (I like to come and see how the dogs are being treated when no one is watching) and she was so gentle and kind with him. He's a 6 month old golden doodle so we weren't sure how he was going to be. But you can really tell how much these people love dogs! I couldn't have been happier with the service, and they even brushed his teeth for him. I would give this store 10 stars if I could. Thank you guys so much for helping us out, HIGHLY recommend this spot. We live 2 hours away and I would definitely make the drive just to come back to this spot! Soooo happy they finally opened a PetSmart store in Santa Barbara!! My pup and I love to shop here: lots of food, treats, and toys, great prices, and super-friendly service. Location is a bit hidden (tucked behind a gas station, right next to the Fresh Market), but once you've found it, really easy to get in/out and there's lots of parking available--unlike some of the other shopping centers in SB. Can't wait to try out the grooming service for his next bath! read more
