Revised: My pup went there for boarding. On the last day of her stay she was vomiting a lot so they took her into the vet. The staff escorted her to two different vets. Tests were ran. She was fine, her stomach was just upset about the change in diet. Overall, most staff were friendly and cared for Pepper. I did speak to the owner personally about not feeling listened to by a staff about my dogs water possessiveness. They were accountable, caring, and passionate about pet care. Seems very proactive with her company. Nice to know it is family owned. My pup did come home with two punctures on her back inner thigh and chest unfortunately. The yards are supervised, but you cant see everything I understand. Yards are a bit on the smaller side but clean. read more

We have been taking our dog Kobe to Camp Canine for years off and on when we travel. This past visit was to have her groomed by Bethany. Bethany did a fabulous job and Kobe looks fantastic. She's a ranch dog and a great hunter so we need to keep her clipped fairly closely in order to keep the foxtails etc from getting caught in her fur. Such wonderful service, I loved The workers there, they are very Sweet and Kind people to talk to, All questions I asked were Answered, and Gave me updates about how my dog was doing while being groomed . My dog just Got a haircut there about 2 hours ago, and there are no long hairs Or leftover Hair they forgot to cut, they also Cut his nails very well which im So glad about. absolutely wonderful !! I used to take him to petsmart for his haircut and He was left Horrible, with Very little trimming And Always had long hairs over his cut furr, They also never cut all of his nails and only left 2 or 3 cut and very short while the others were long .. It was such bad service .. my dog was never happy with the lady That cut his hair At Petsmart, Or with his haircuts Either.. Petsmart is nothing compared to camp Canine, and Im so glad I found them, they provided me with good service, and Treated my dog very well . These people saved my dog's life. I was traveling in the Caribbean and my dog lost his eye site due to glaucoma. The owner personally took charge, took my dog to emergency care, then took the dog three times to the Veterinary Eye Clinic in Calabasas and coordinated a double prosthetic operation, which worked amazingly well. She stayed with Tucker the whole time and administered meds until I returned home two weeks later. The continued communication during the entire time was amazing. Service was not great. Arrived for my appointment and I wasn't down for an appointment...they ended up still grooming my pup. Several hours passed by (like 6 hours) and no one contacted me regarding pickup. I called to check in as they were about to close and they stated that they attempted to call but had the wrong phone number...at pickup they told me that my dog was aggressive and had behavioral issues. After insisting that this was incorrect (as my dog has been to several groomers all over the US, with no issue) the employee threatened me and said my dog wouldn't be able to return if he was going to behave like that. All of my info was entered incorrectly and I never received a receipt... Definitely a chaotic place, not very homey/welcoming. Dogs are roaming freely in grooming area. Enjoy smaller groomers more. This place is a dream!!! My family and I were evacuated from the fires in Los Angeles and came to Santa Barbara with no where to put our sweet lab. They not only took her in and loved the mess out of her, they provided free boarding for her. Our family has a Leonberger that weighs 200 pounds, a Newfoundland mix that is only 18 months, old, and a 10 pound poodle... Camp canine is our go to place for everything, exercise, overnights, and beautiful grooming... If I could give more stars I would, With the large dogs they are always helpful to take in and out as I am the grandmother of this family and it's hard to handle our 18 month old Newfoundland mix. I boarded my dog with Camp Canine for years until during one stay they called me to tell me my dog had been acting weird for the past two days... long story short - they took my dog to the vet and found out he had multiple puncture wounds from a dog bite. Camp Canine explained the dogs are unsupervised at night and there are no cameras of the area where they sleep so we will never know what exactly happened to my dog. Definitely check their current overnight supervision policies before boarding. read more

I also met the owners brother, he is a great dog trainer at the facility along with other excellent staff. I would gate keep and not let anyone know about this wonderful place, but since I live in LA and was visiting SB for the weekend. I thought I should let the locals know about this wonderful facility. First off I've had a few bad experiences with my dog going to other boarding facilities and ending up in urgent care bc my dog was not looked after. This really put me down and thought I could never find a place where my corgi could go, have fun & be safe! I was in SB for a graduation this past weekend & was nervous about boarding her for the night since I've had so many bad experiences elsewhere. I decided to give this place a try & so happy I did. First off the communication was stellar! The front desk staff answered all the questions & concerns I had and put me at ease. Now for my corgis experience here, and yes I know what she thought bc she told me, hahah lol. When I initially dropped her off for her evaluation and picked her up a couple hours later, she seemed calm but happy. I brought her back later that night to check her back in for boarding & she did not hesitate to go back in here! She wanted to go back!!!! This never happened at her old boarding place. I picked her up from her boarding the next day and she was happy, but exhausted which was exactly what I wanted. You are able to drop off your pup and pick them up whenever they are finished with the grooming which is super convenient! We were in a pickle! Camp Canine saved us! Mid construction we realized we couldn't safely keep our hyper Portuguese Water Dog, Zoe, safe. I searched doggie daycare and Camp Canine was the first to pop up! I called at 8am and was welcomed in any time that day for a trial day. I uploaded her information and arrived to a Disneyland for dogs! There was two different yards one for big dogs and one for small dogs. Zoe was quickly taken away by the care providers. They put a new collar on her that I assume was color coded for the dogs safety. She went off to a beautiful enclosure with rocks to climb and a big pool to swim in. We did the 6 hours for $36 but the first trial day was waived! When I picked her up they said she did GREAT! When they paged on the over-com "Zoe to the front" they informed me she was soaking wet !! So they blew her coat out so she didn't get my car to dirty. She will be back for the whole week and hopefully for more fun days in the future!! read more

As I am sure is the case many (most likely all) of you reading this review, I love my dog to pieces. And that is why I feel compelled to tell you about her experience at Camp Canine, one that I will never ever repeat. Here is what happened. I dropped her off on a Sunday. As a 17 pound dog she was placed in the small dog area. On Tuesday I received a call letting me know she had "escaped" the small dog area but "fortunately" had not left the premises. The message continued with the request that she be placed with the big dogs as presumably the fence was higher. When I called back, there was no further explanation as to how my 17 pound dog had escaped a confined area and exactly where and how she was found. I was told there really was no alternative other than to place her in the large dog area. I was both dumbfounded and deeply concerned. The only mitigating factor was that my dog has a long history of supervised play dates with dogs of all sizes. Still deeply concerned about the clear lack of safety precautious that led to her "escape" I got on the phone and did my level best to find an alternative placement to no avail. The next day, having heard nothing at all from Camp Canine I called to check on her. I was told she was "fine" but very afraid of the staff. Again, this is a dog that has had a history of supervised play dates, and has no fear whatsoever of the staff there. I asked if they were addressing this issue and question was essentially ignored. So I began to make arrangements for my dog to be picked up a day early. When my daughter arrived to pick her up on Thursday my dog had a visible scrape on her head. When she told me and I called Camp Canine I was told "Oh she was playing with a Doberman Pinscher and they were playing kind of rough" Clearly Camp Canine works for some dogs. If you are ok leaving your dog in a rough and tumble environment with little supervision and a staff both clearly overwhelmed and with what appears to be minimal training in dog behaviors, it might work for you. But I will never take my dog there again. read more

We were in town on a vacation. We were able to take our puppy with us to most happenings, but there was one activity that she had to sit out. I looked up several businesses in the area. Camp Canine was reasonably priced and answered all of the billions of questions I asked. This was my first time ever leaving my baby with a third party. I asked to fill out all of the paperwork in advance of my trip, which they were fine with. They also allowed me to drop her off before regular business hours, which I appreciated. They bathed her at the end of her stay as I requested, although there is an extra charge for that. Our pup sure seemed to be happy when we picked her up, but I'd like to think that was because she missed us (at least I hope so)! read more

My dogs have been going to Camp Canine for the better part of a year and they love it there. Upon seeing each and every staff member their butts wiggle in excitement. The staff is very attentive and professional. My dogs have fun exercising and swimming in the play yard. The salon staff are very detailed in their cleaning. My dogs always come home smelling great with clean teeth and trimmed nails. One of my two dogs really detests getting her nails trimmed yet the staff always gets them done and looking great.
