Zuul the Destructor aka Willow, aka One-Eyed Willie the Pirate

Thank goodness for our beloved floofs and those that rescue floofs! I was in need of an affordable vaccine for my furchild, Willow, aka Silly Willie, aka Zuul the Destructor, and found Santa Barbara Humane to be an excellent and expeditious option. I called and was able to make an appointment over the phone. The staff were so kind and helpful. I pulled up with feline in tow and they came outside to vaccinate her in two shakes of a cat's tail! It was so quick, painless and efficient. They immediately sent the vaccination certificate and receipt to my email. I will certainly avail myself of their services in the future. A deserving rescue organization if there ever was one!

Great organization that offers Spay / Neuter, necessary shots and more all at a reasonable cost. Easy online appointment scheduling...the new pup is well taken care of.

    Right after procedure.

I drove 1hr & 30mins to get my fur baby spayed here and it was all well worth it. The vet techs and staff were all kind and helpful. They answered all of my follow up questions clearly and any concerns I had days after the procedure was done. It's been 11 days since my baby had the procedure and her stitches have almost completely healed without any complications. I recommend reading all of the individual forms and documents that are provided via e-mail before returning to pick up your pet. (Ex. post-op care, medication instructions, pick up procedures, emergency information) Doing so made the entire process easier on myself and my pup. (:

I like this place a lot. I got my two kittens from them 1 year ago. The staff is very friendly. Both my dog and cats go to their clinic and get their vaccination down. Prices are nice too. I usually just come and visit cats and dogs, and having fun. And they have some really nice cats too.

Layla after being spayed. She hated her come, but it was the funniest thing ever seeing it on her.

I recently bought a 9-week old German Pit (Layla) and being a college student I couldn't afford to take her to the vet and pay for all of her shots + spaying + microchipping. So I skeptically looked into the SB Humane Society whom my girlfriend & friends recommended me too. I scheduled an appointment for Layla and when we first got there I was delighted to see how clean and sanitary everything looked. The staff was friendly and caring, and most of all they were knowledgeable which made me feel at ease. This was the first time I had ever owned a dog and they were very eager to help me answer all of my questions. The cost of the medications and vaccinations was shockingly affordable. Why pay 10x the amount at a vet for the same dose and brand of medicine? My puppy is now 5 months old and has finished all of her vaccines and has been spayed & microchipped for UNDER $200. With all the money I saved I am able to buy Layla quality dog food, a plethora of toys and other dog necessities. Will definitely refer all new pet owners and myself in the future to go to the SB Humane Society.

I'd give no stars if that was an option. Clinic services may be affordable but not worth the savings for substandard communication, followup services and standard of customer service. We took our 2 labrador pups for a spay and neuter and after 6 days our female had stitches starting to open and drain blood despite careful after care. She developed a seroma which can happen, that isn't the issue here. What we were extremely unhappy about was the lack of being able to speak to any staff at the clinic. We tried and tried to contact them even calling emergency line as instructed by their automated answering service...guess what no answer and yet another opportunity to leave a message on another machine. Ridiculous that even an emergency line was given same attention as regular clinic number. The old saying you get what you pay for is very much the case here. The humane society clinic may have been affordable but do yourself and your pets a favor and don't waste your time going here! After taking our little lab girl to a better facility and organization she was given antibiotics and other pain management medications despite the humane society clinic finally responding tour messages saying she was fine and she looked normal.

Had our cats Merlin and Kit Kat spayed and neutered there and the Doctors there perform the procedure so much, our cats were in and out with no issues. I'd highly recommend this place. We were initially seen by a girl with red hair. I think her name was Megan. I'd highly recommend this place. Especially if you do not want to spend a ton of money at a local vet.

I cannot begin to explain the amount of relief from anxiety training my dogs with Ricky has brought me. No amount of therapy could touch how I felt previously. I have learned patience, clear communication (with my dogs), and appreciation of the minds ability to change after years and years of ingrained unwanted behaviors. Ricky does not sell a one size fits all package - each of my dogs are VERY different, and while the fundamental approaches and concepts in training are the same - the method and timing in which we applied and reinforced these were vastly different. Ricky is able to connect with two leggers and four leggers alike - he gives clear feedback to dogs and human and uses metaphors that we humans understand (driving the speed limit and getting speeding tickets haha) on how the concepts of his approach effects dog behavior. I couldn't be happier. I am humble and I know I need to continue management (and one of my dogs I am holding to higher standard so we are going to continue our own sessions based on what I have learned) but my dogs are completely different. I'm getting complimented by family, friends, and people on walks - impressed with how well behaved my dogs are. I smile and tell them "thank you it's lots of continued hard work" and move along. This morning in particular we walked during trash pick up, had lots of people distractions, and both dogs stayed heeled and attentive to me on their separate walks. Do not hesitate to consider Ricky for your training needs. Also, if you feel alone with your dogs behavior - please know you are anything but alone. The fact you are looking at reviews for dog trainers is a clear indicator that you want the best for your dog and intend to give them them best. :)

She was found wondering the street's of LA and had been both physically and mentally abused. She had serious separation anxiety, a huge fear of bikes, motorcycles, and skateboards and felt the need to protect any space she was in. Being experienced dog owners, and having previously rescued dogs, we thought we were up for the challenge of rescuing Molly and helping her overcome her multiple issues. Wow, were we wrong! The first six months of having Molly we were going out of our mind trying to help her and get her adjusted to our home. We have a miniature Schnauzer (Max) as well and thought he could help Molly adjust. The opposite happened where Max started to become aggressive to other dog's on leash and in greeting people as they came in our home. We tried multiple self help books, DVD's, and web sites, as well as other trainers in the area and nothing helped. We felt helpless and felt that we were going to have to put Molly up for adoption, but feared that no one would adopt her and she would be put down. Our last ditch effort was to try another trainer and we found California School for Dog's web site. Susan came to our home and listened patiently as we rattled off all that was wrong with our poor Molly. Then she put a plan in place to address each of her major issues through a combination of group class training and one-on-one sessions. After only one session, we began to see Molly begin to change. And, even more importantly, we began to see how WE COULD change to help Molly. Within a few months Molly overcame most of her problems and fears and became a wonderful addition to our family. Susan even helped our other Schnauzer, Max, get back on the right track to being the good boy he had always been. To sum up, Susan is like no other dog trainer we have ever worked with. She uses a very unique, calm approach and has a deep understanding of dog's and what their owners need to do to help them. Needless to say, we think of Susan as a miracle worker and highly recommend her.

Or figuring out why she becomes scared when you sit something on top of her crate, like a shoe! Anne is amazing at putting herself into a dog's mind and understanding what they may be thinking. Anne's all about positive puppy training, which jives with our values. She is really incredible at how she has such firm control over our puppy in such a short period. She is literally the dog whisperer. She whispers to our puppy, who stops everything to listen to what she's saying. I've never seen anything like it! Anne's classes and home visits are both fairly affordable, but it's important to practice at home the things she teaches you. She packs a tremendous amount of information into her lessons, so pay close attention and take notes! That's really the bottom line and the best thing you can do for your pup. It's easy to give Anne and Perfect Puppy Academy my highest 5-star recommendation.

We highly recommend K-Nine Solutions training services, and appreciate their attention & holistic approach that included a final training session at our house. Piper was perfect, we saw leaps and bounds in her demeanor & behavior within our own social backyard setting with neighbors and few friends, it was great! Our program was an inclusive building agenda that also sets out to train the owners as well. Clearly, it's a big investment & a long term commitment but well worth it. Our goal is to have us all communicating the same way - with us decidedly in the lead, and everyone more confident & calm. Piper, is a 4 year old female Bohemian Shepherd. She was a rescue pup and had become an overly reactive dog in public. Our trainer Adam was amazing with her (& us!) His first words to all of us were "Ahhhhh a Muzzler, I love Muzzlers!" - an apparent favorite staple of his for the last twenty years! Adam would take Piper home with him the full four weeks of her 24 hour training. He generously shared his family & his own dog with her every day, which is no small thing. Besides fearlessly taking Piper on with patience and enthusiasm, his animal behaviorist training has offered us a better understanding and insights into reading her emotional triggers. He's offered us a structured living approach that's in the nature of a working dog. He's been both very patience and encouraging with my husband Eric and I along the way. We are grateful. Piper is a smart & sweet working dog and needs the structure and clarity through repeated training to be relaxed and manageable and happy. We did not know how to always recognize & navigate the best methods to that end. Now we do. It's basically a two party proposition with us leading. If we work well, she works well. So we needed the boot camp training as much as Piper, and continue to train. We are all a work in progress, but they have set us all up for success and that's all new welcome territory for us! We look forward to ongoing pack walks with K-Nine, and are happy to know Eric Smith & Adam are there for the occasional tune ups as needed!

She settled into her crate that first night back at home (relatively no drama!), and now she can sleep pretty peacefully in it whether we're home or traveling.
