This place is infuriating. Just inside the door to the right, there's a "display" of dozens of small glass bowls. Each of these bowls contain two things; water and a single fish. A single fish that spends it's entire life just floating in the center of a bowl. Anyone who doesn't think fish are sentient and need engagement likely needs assistance with any simple concept. Terrible, they're really rude. I saw them kick a woman out because something caught on the bag of cat food she was carrying and began to humiliate her and tell her she needs to buy it. Life is already hard as is and everyone is feeling the pressure. Then when she said she couldn't pay for unusable food they kick her out. Accidents happen and to humiliate her in the middle of the store and let her walk out without letting her get food for her pets. This is a sorry excuse for a corporate company, a manager, and customer service. I've worked it before and I would never treat someone that way. I used curbside pick up for a 35 lb bag of birdseed, which I've done on several occasions. At 75 with a bad back, knees & feet, it's a convenience I appreciate. The woman who brought it out stood in front of the door & ignored me as I tried to get her attention. Finally she acknowledged me & brought the bag. She was remarkably rude throughout the encounter. Although I've shopped here for several years I have never noticed the area set aside for pick up & no employee has ever pointed it out. Waited for the store to open, door signs say 9am. Waited until 9am. 2 customers with their dogs walked in and I went in after them. Got a cart and started shopping. Manager came around throwing people out, said the store doesn't open until 10am staying someone pushed through the doors. I watched 2 customers walk right in and the auto doors opened right up. Also, doors opened when I walked in. Manager very rude, I already had several items in my cart. I just left the cart in the isle and walked out. Despite offering curbside pickup for over a year now, this particular PetSmart continues to fail at delivering decent customer service with this option. Yesterday was the latest example of this problem. I pulled into the designated parking spot, opened the app and selected the option to alert the store I was there. After over 15 minutes no one had brought my small order out. I had to call the store and be put on hold for awhile before someone answered and said they'd bring out my order. It still took more waiting for it to finally come out. It's not a staffing issue, as this has happened to me twice before. It's that they aren't checking for customers curbside, ignoring them or just don't want to deal with it. I live closest to this store but will start going back to Brentwood because I never have this problem there and it's a much busier store. read more

Took my dog here for grooming and I'm really happy with the result. Janae was really nice and helpful and asked questions about how I wanted his cut. Afterwards he looked so good and sleek! I watched a little towards the end and she was very gentle and sweet with him and talked him through parts where he seemed more anxious (like cutting around the face). Highly recommend her. They also added the extra package for free because it was my first time (nail grinding, dental something, etc.). Also, if you sign up for PetPerks you get a $10 off $20 on services which I used towards grooming. (I also got a $10 off in-store coupon that I'll use some other time.) I am still amazed how good the customer service is at this store. The staff is always friendly, helpful and go beyond the normal retail associate. It is also well maintained and merchandised. I normally go to Petsmart in Brentwood but can never seem to get an appointment when I need one. I really liked one of their groomers, though, and was nervous to try someone else. South City Petsmart is closer to my house anyway so I thought I'd take a chance. All appointments with Petsmart Groomers are done online now so I was shooting in the dark on who to request but I was able to get an appointment within less than 3 days (much better than the nearly 3 weeks I had to wait at the Brentwood location). I randomly picked Keli and was soooooo pleased. When Keli called to let me know my dog was ready she mentioned that she gave my dog a free nail grinding and educated me on how important it was to keep older dog's nails very short to lessen arthritic pain. I had no idea! When she had asked me about it it at check in I told her that I had tried grinding at home and that my dog hated it. She assured me that my dog really was ok with it and that that is common with doggie parents doing it. When I picked my dog up, I immediately noticed that she took care to avoid all of my old girl's (my dog) "bumps" as I had plead with her to do so, so as to not to cut her. I know that may not sound like a big deal but that is very hard to do, especially when a dog is getting the closest shave possible (this was our first grooming since Covid). Keli did not judge the condition of my baby at all. She and the other groomer were very polite and quick checking people in despite not being able to have more than one drop off in their receiving room at a time. Anyway, I know a lot of people like to complain, but I like to let people know when they do a great job. Tonight my dog is content! She hasn't chewed on her feet and she isn't scratching any nicks on her skin. I highly recommend Keli! Thank you so much! read more

We went to breakfast then called at 11:20am to see if our baby was done. We were told she is next on the table. The explanation was they were really busy and behind. I took my dog in to be groomed and specifically asked that they use the shortest clippers to shave him down all over since we only groom him twice a year. The groomer asked about using the clippers a step up so his hair would be a bit longer, but I said "no, please just shave him all the way down." The first thing I noticed upon picking him up is that the hair around his ears had been left long because the groomer "thought it looked cute" when I got him home & fully looked him over I noticed that his hair is 1. Not as short as it typically is when he gets shaved 2. Not shaved on his belly and 3. Super patchy in places with varying hair lengths. Not at all pleased with the results. read more

I like this PetSmart it's in a convenient location in South City, they always have what I need in stock, and I can usually find some good sales. I appreciate that they feature cats for adoption from different local animal shelters and they often have volunteers holding them and cleaning the area. I came for cat food this time and was able to find my Blue Buffalo quite easily. On the way out I noticed a 30% off Greenies sale and got $12 off which is a lot for that brand. The only downside to this location is their vet services are expensive unless you buy the membership and I don't often have people ask if I need any help. This usually doesn't bother me since I know where I'm going but I can see how this would be a problem for some. read more

We were refused grooming because of the prescription medication our dog was on. The meds were prescribed to her by a vet but the groomer still refused the grooming. She asked what medication the animal was on and went to ask someone in the back if it was allowed. When she came back out she said the med wasn't allowed but couldn't remember what the medication was. We were told that no prescribed meds were allowed but the animal could have had an over the counter med and that would have been fine. These folks are less than knowledgeable and consider that and the lack of cleanliness in the grooming parlor, we will happily take our pet elsewhere. read more

Had to come here to get special food for my dog. Most of the employees were nice but when I came to the checkout the cashier was friendly but in a very creepy way. I had to get a prescription card at the back of the store for my dogs food before I could buy it and as I walked to the back of the store, the cashier made comments about my appearance that made me feel very uncomfortable. Believe it or not, It is possible to be nice to customers without making them feel creeped out... Won't be back to this location even though it's the closest one to where I live. read more

We always go to this Petsmart for our fish and aquarium needs because it is close and convenient. The store is clean and the prices are reasonable, but there are a few staff members that we find really difficult to work with. While they have never out right refused to sell us fish, we get a hard time almost every time we try to buy a new fish because we don't rotate our water on a regular basis or want to add more than one fish to the tank at a time. Yes, for some of the staff members at Petsmart, keeping fish can be somewhat of an obsession, but they need to realize that it is possible to casually have pet fish and still be resonsible pet owners. This store seems on par with other Petsmarts I've been to, but I wouldn't suggest going there for fish, unless you are in the mood for a lecture. read more

The atmosphere is chaotic and the grooming is not well run. Came in and a girl refused to check me in because she was going for lunch. Today they wanted to send my dog home wet with barely anything done. Some nails not even clipped. No sanitary trim. All part of the service I paid for. This is of course your typical big box store but I think the employees here really make this location stand out. I honestly believe that each and every employee here really loves and cares for animals. I have never been in this store without at least one to two employees asking if I need any help and readily available and able to answer any questions I may have. I tend to stop and say hello to all of the animals here when I come in and have on numerous occasions ended up talking to an employee about the animals there and it is then that you can see that they take pride in caring for and interacting with the animals. They know that the animals are not just a product to be sold but a living creature worthy of attention and love. read more

For some reason the pill pockets for cats are over in the hamster and gerbil section, and we spent a lot of time looking for them, and had to go on a hunt to find someone to locate them for us. They moved the greenies cat treats, making them hard to find. They were out of the prescription food my elderly cat needed. They move stuff around, making it hard to find. When locating the item that I specifically went there for (dog food storage container), I was met with someone who was not in uniform (maybe off the clock?) who told be impatiently that I couldn't have one today because it was already counted for in inventory. He never stopped, just talked at me as he rounded the corner to go down another isle. I completely understand trying to get inventory done before hand so the process can go more smoothly when the time comes, but the customer service was just completely lacking. Always such a great & friendly staff. Our dog is on the wellness plan so I can drop her off in the morning and pick her up later that day, no having to wait around. They call me before they do anything that might not be covered on the plan and I never feel pressured to do add-ons. Pretty decent location for my cat's needs. There have been a few occasions where they are out of the size/type of cat food I wanted. I have purchased cat furniture from this location. The location is convenient, as it is the closest. I do wish they would stop rearranging the layout of the store, as finding the right food is a lot more difficult with the new layout. The do take walk-ins for the nail trimming, but if you need anything else done for your furry friend, you'd be better off with an appointment. They have a great selection of virtually everything - food, accessories, etc. The Pet Perks card is a must have in order to take advantage of the lower prices for members. The staff are always very cordial and helpful. They also offer veterinary and training services on site. PetSmart is the supercenter for pet lovers. They also allow pets in the store and provide free treats as well, which is a nice perk. The store is also very clean - all things considered. Love it! read more

I took my dog to the groomers here and paid $50 for something that I literally could have done at home. I asked for them to shave him and when I picked him up, my dog looked the exact same way that I dropped him off as, still scruffy. I brought this to their attention and the employee stated that because he is a Lab Mix, he couldn't be shaved because his hair won't grow back so they trimmed him which they barely did. I took him to another groomers the next week and they shaved him and he looked absolutely amazing and guess what...his hair grew back. Anyway, I took him back a month to Petsmart a month or so later to just get his nails grinder and I didn't notice until I got home and he scratched me that they skipped two of his nails. So I will no longer patronize the groomer there. I think part of the problem is that the grooming staff is pretty young which makes me think that there has been little training. They look like they're still in high school. read more
