I was on my way to a wedding celebration and needed gifts for my fur-baby who was turning 4 the next day. It was the perfect day to shop Four Muddy Paws, because it was National Shop Your Local Pet Store Day. Yes, that is a real holiday. I was so glad to be able to stop by and support the original FMP. Since I moved to Illinois, I am now a regular at their Edwardsville store. Sophia got two new bandanas, two small iced dog treats and one big Happy Barkday Cookie to celebrate her special day. When we did our morning walk, we took the big cookie with us. As we meet her neighborhood friends, we broke off a piece of the big cookie and shared her celebration. The staff was new to me, but I was happy to see they still provided the good customer service that Four Muddy Paws is known for. I may be a regular in E-ville now, but I'll still hold a special place in my heart for the Lafayette store. read more

I am so glad I finally visiting four muddy paws! This is such a great local store for all your pets needs. When I went a few weeks ago, it was Baxter's 2nd birthday so I let him sniff around and choose his birthday toy and treat. He was very excited to see other dogs walking around and wanted to be friends with everyone (humans and dogs)! The store offers a wide variety of treats as well as specialty treats for birthdays and gotcha days. The workers were also so friendly and when it was time to check out, I signed up for their rewards program and since it was our first time (and a birthday), they also gave me a small discount - which was much appreciated. I cannot say enough good things about the groomer, Christina (hope I spelled that right). She is so gentle and really gets to know each of my dogs' personalities to make their grooming the least stressful for each of them. I'd hesitate to recommend her only bc her schedule is so full, but my gratitude overwhelms my desire to gatekeep my best groomer ever. read more

Four Muddy Paws is my go to for all of my pet food. A visit to the shop is kind of like "Disneyland for Dogs" with so many toys and specialty treats. We take Cooper there for baths in the self serve tubs. Since he is on the large side, popping him into their pedestal tubs makes bathing easy. We feed Coop A Pup Above which is a sous vide prepared pup food. Four Muddy Paws has a HUGE selection of gently cooked and raw pet food. Always look forward to a visit. read more

This is such an amazing spot for dogs, cats, and animal lovers! I brought my dog in to get a new leash, and we had a great time browsing and seeing all that Four Muddy Paws had to offer. It's located in Lafayette Square, which is one of my favorite neighborhoods in stl, and definitely adds to it's charm! There are parking spots directly in front of the store, and along the street. I definitely noticed the large amount of food options they offer! Raw, canned, frozen, food toppers, puppy, senior- the list goes on!! Whatever your dogs dietary restrictions or needs- they've got it. You can tell the owners are incredibly passionate about making sure your dog is the best it can be. They also offer supplements, treats, birthday baked items, grooming services, self serve dog wash, nutritional counseling, local delivery, and curbside pick ups. We ended up with an STL leash, and Eddie loves showing his stl pride :) we also got some toothpaste to help with tooth decay- an easy way to take care of your pup so they don't need a super expensive cleaning down the line. I stop in here from time to time to get my black lab, Norman his favorite fab balls. You can order these online, but I would rather support a local store. I never leave without buying my pups some treats and other toys. They have bath stations, a groomer, a huge variety of dog and cat toys and treats! I highly recommend stopping in to check it out! Super cute shop for pet owners! They have fresh baked treats which my pup loved and all sorts of toys. They also have a grooming side as well and I believe it was a self serve one as well as a regular grooming area. I loved how they had a little angel tree for pets up for adoption in the St. Louis area. I take my dogs in on Sundays from 11-2 when the groomer is there for nail trims. I don't remember the groomers name, but she is excellent! My dogs do not like getting their nails trimmed, but she must be a dog whisperer because they have behaved, so far. It's $16 for a drimmel (?) trim, and worth every penny....the store itself is very cute. They have every need for your dog covered along with a bathing area, and a bakery. read more

We brought our puppers in today to use their self wash bays. Everyone was kind and helpful! The facility was very clean and they provided a lot of items to help with the bathing process! Tried to get in with our normal groomer and weren't able to get him in by the time we needed so we googled self serve dog baths and found a local place close to home. I have heard about this store for a while but never had stopped in and now I'm glad I have, we did the deshed treatment and they give you the shampoo and let you go back to the room there is 4 baths and 4 little stations that had towels and brushes and a blow dryer. The girl gave us a quick run down and when we were done we asked about cleaning up the hair in the tub and that got blown around and she said it was all good which was so nice of her cause I was fully expecting to need to clean it all up. I will say when we got there, there was another couple and us and there was tons of space, during our visit 2 more people came and it did feel a lil crowded at the blow dry stations butWe walked around the store and checked out all the merchandise. We ended up getting some frozen bones since our puppy was so good when getting groomed. When we checked out they told us about there rewards program they do buy 6 self serve washes get the 7th free and then for dog food they do buy 10 bags get the 11th free or may have been 11th get the 12th, (should have wrote it down) but either way awesome program to have either way! read more

Excellent job grooming my 2 Pugs The staff was nice & informative. Lucy and Bam seemed to have enjoyed their stay and I was pleased with how cleaned they looked & smelled. The festive bananas were also a nice touch. I am very particular about my Pugs' wrinkles & ears being cleaned and Four Muddy Paws had it coveted with having to be instructed. The price was a little steeper than my previous groomer but the service, facility & experience made it well worth the switch. I decided I wanted to give our dogs a bath myself instead of sending them to a groomer! Four muddy paws has a bathing area, so with hubby's help we put Maggie in the Jeep and off we went! I am apprehensive. Maggie is a big girl and I'm a little worried. Hubby parks and I pop in to see if a tub is available. The lady behind the counter was so nice! She quickly entered me into the system and then got everything ready for Maggie's bath. So far so good! We brought Maggie in and the nice lady showed us how everything works. Maggie did so well, but we both got soaked! lol. I had so much fun and so happy I gave this a try! I used their shampoo and it only cost $14. I love this place! They also have great dog treats, accessories and lots of great dog food and toys. I can't wait to take the other fur baby for a bath! They also have grooming services if your not nuts like me! lol. Hubby didn't have as much fun as I did...he kept saying I was nuts for doing this! The best part of giving your dog a bath at Four Muddy Paws? The staff clean up the mess and all the dog hair! My groomer is no longer with the company and I'll be taking my business elsewhere as the other staff in the salon I've dealt with have always been made me feel unwelcome. Not only can you get your pet groomed here, but you can actually do it yourself at the self-grooming station for a mere $12. Do you know how valuable that is? $12 bucks can save you the trouble of a soaked bathroom, and who wants to bathe in the same tub their pet gets washed in anyway? Aside from the grooming options there are so many things to buy for your furry pals. There's a huge selection of doggy sweaters (and even doggy scarves for winter, seriously), tons of hand-made treats, vintage Santa toys, catnip candy canes and more. Prices aren't too high and everything is just so well made and fun. Worth a stop for pet owners if you're in the Lafayette Square area, and give their grooming services a try, too. The owners are great guys and I love that their own dogs just chill out around the store all day. Dare I say this place is dog-gone adorable? What a great pet shop in South City!!!! You get a free $.07 treat upon check-in. The baby comes with me and we walk the strip. I love the variety and selection of treats. Our new favorites are the chicken chips and bowser beer. The baby can have beers with dad when he's watching football. They carry my favorite varieties of Fromm and the prices are cheaper than Treats Unleashed and Three Dog Bakery. Another plus for me is I am able to grab assorted Treats Unleashed goodies $0.50 cheaper than the actually store. The employees are always friendly and helpful when we visit and the baby receives love. The store looks small but is actually quite spacious for everything that is going on. read more

This is the first pet boutique we visited for our pups and it's still one of my favorites. I come here to get my pup her treats, food, and of course some of their homemade treats they order from Treats Unleashed. The staff are very knowledgeable and helpful. They really helped me through the first year of when I got my puppy and was clueless about taking care of a dog. They lead me in the right direction for nutrition as well as some training tips (the harness has been so helpful and is in the cutest design). They also loaded me with free dog food samples to see what worked for my girl and her sensitive tummy. They have events frequently for dogs and their humans with many giveaways. These are often coordinated with other local businesses which is fun, for people to get food and wine and have their dog with them. They offer professional grooming services, and while I never tried them myself, I have done their $12 DIY pup bath. My little girl was scared of the dryer, but my other dog was fine. They have all the equipment (and it's the good stuff) so it's easy peasy! They have a reward program - if you buy 10 bags of dog food, get one free. If you check in on Foursquare, you will get an offer to get a free bulk treat item which I do every time I visit :-) The shop is small and a little cramped because of the location, but the area for bathing dogs is a bit bigger. When I go to pick up food, I usually try to leave my dog at home for this reason as it can get crowded with humans and their dogs in there! Prices are high because they offer the good stuff, so I don't dock them for that. It costs more to give your dog good quality stuff so that goes with the territory. It's a one stop shop for me as they carry everything from leashes and collars to raw dog food. read more

They helped us find and fit a collar, they talked to my 5 year old daughter about the fun and responsibilities of a new dog. They were all around awesome. Love this place for self-service dog washes. I exclusively go in on Saturdays and Sundays and rarely ever have to wait more than 5 minutes for an open station. They provide the aprons, shampoo, conditioner, brushes, ear wipes, towels, and a dryer. Sometimes, when there is no one at the drying station next to mine, I use that dryer too, and can dry my dog twice as fast- helpful hint. I have also had my dog's nails cut here many times. They may only have the groomer in on Saturdays (not Sundays). I usually have to wait until they are free (maybe 10 minutes max). I think the nail cutting is $10. Totally worth it since they do such a good job. There is a fenced in area right outside that you can wait in with your dog off leash. read more

He does not like getting his feet touched or nails clipped and she was so patient and let me come back in the room to help calm him and gave us some tips to help work on his feet sensitivity issues. I absolutely love this place and so do my pups. Just took my little man here to get a much needed nail trim and Crystal was wonderful! She trimmed his nails all evenly and even filed them so there were no jagged edges. Also they have a wide range of quality products too. My boyfriend and I have two dogs (who are not fans of other dogs) that needed baths the day before Thanksgiving. I called Four Muddy Paws before stopping in to see if they would be able to help us get our dogs in without encountering others. The staff was SO friendly and 100% understanding! What a breath of fresh air! They helped us sneak our dogs in and let us have the end bathing area. It was so nice here, I doubt I will ever try to give them a bath at home again! All shampoo and conditioner is provided in the price of your wash. Shammies, hair dryers, brushes- you name it they have it ready for you! And it was very nice for us to be able to wash our pups ourselves instead of handing them over to a groomer they don't know. It was a nice bonding experience. Soothing music, warm and cozy. Four Muddy Paws also has a great selection of pet food, treats and unique products you won't find in other pet stores. Many specialty items like their STL Cards food bowl and collars with beer bottle caps! My dogs are rescued pit bulls, and many times people judge them just by how they look. No one at Four Muddy Paws did this to us. In fact, they were above and beyond welcoming. I can't say in words how much this meant to me and my boyfriend. We will be return customers! read more

I was in the area one Sunday afternoon after eating brunch at Four Square Brewery next door.=I have been down here countless times but for some reason this was the first time I saw Four Muddy Paws. I checked them out on Yelp and once I saw they had a check-in offer, I had to go it. I was with a friend who was looking for a dog food that didn't make her pet's stomach upset--I was just there to browse the toys. We first looked at the dog toys. The item that caught my eye the most, which I might have to go back and get, was a massive tug-of-war rope. It was probably 6-7 feet long with knots tied in it. My dog loves huge toys (he's a 100 pound German Shepherd) and I knew this would be perfect for him. He needs big industrial sized ones because he will destroy anything else in a matter of minutes. After looking at the toys we asked one of the workers about a dog food that would help with stomach pains. The worker was SO FRIENDLY! She took the time to walk us around the store and told us what would be helpful and what to avoid. She convinced us that the best item would be a powder you put on the food that should help with any stomach issues. I was skeptical at first but my friend still got it--she was willing to try anything. It worked! This saved her a lot of time and a trip to the vet! The staff was very knowledgeable/friendly. If you are looking for toys, food, or grooming for your 4-legged friend then you should check this place out! 5 stars for-sure. read more

One of the many fun things about getting a new pet is figuring out their strange behaviors - behaviors that make them unique, even for their breed! Our new kitty, Robert, likes to knock over his water bowl. We tried a plastic container at first - knocked it over in seconds. Next, we tried a regular cereal bowl - over in a few minutes. We went with a bigger bowl and it took him less than an hour to knock that over too. We were left with a large mixing bowl, but he just likes to sit in that. Weird! Drove over to Four Muddy Paws and asked for some help. We found a heavy dog bowl that looks like a giant coffee mug. So far, Robert has been unsuccessful in knocking this over... although he's been trying. The gentleman who helped me didn't flinch twice when I asked him for cat advice and even went so far as to ask the other associates their thoughts on how to merge two kitties together.
