After traveling for a month, our large 10 year old Labradoodle, Ace, was in need of a bath and haircut. We normally use PetSmart in Sacramento, so comfortable using another location. Using the app, the nearest PetSmart appt was 9 days out, so searched and booked the N Lake Pleasant Pkwy location with next day appts available. Overnight I reviewed poor reviews for this location so cancelled the appointment. Jennifer, groomer, called and we explained the poor reviews and reason for canceling. I was impressed by her kindness, so rescheduled for later that afternoon. All the gals were friendly and attentive. Jennifer did a great job, was knowledge and asked several questions on what we wanted for him. He came out great! Would totally return!! read more

Would give less if I could! Grooming salon is awful! Poor customer service skills. They would help me schedule appointments and they would change or cancel the appointment. I had to take vaccination proof multiple times even though the vaccinations were up to date. read more

I would give Letty and the manager Ashley a minus star if it was possible. This is the Petsmart on Lake Pleasant Parkway. Made my appointment online days before, took time off work in order to make the appointment on time. They call me the night before and said " gee I only just looked at my schedule and won't have adequate time to close, so I have to give him a different appointment ". Not my problem is it? After the arrangements I had made at work to make the appointment work?? So I ask to speak to the manager and she proceeded to blame my little pup for being "wiggly" and how he had previously tried to eat his hair clippings and was therefore a difficult dog!! OMG ! Every single time he's been there the gals have always complimented him for being so cooperative and good natured. Look here: if you have staffing issues at your store and don't have anyone else to close , don't suddenly turn on my gentle pup and criticize and blame him for trying to change the schedule - the fault lies with YOUR staffing issues , not my pip! So unprofessional, no wonder it's going bankrupt! Pah! read more

This was my first grooming appointment at this Petsmart location. I never had any issues beforehand. The groomer misunderstood my instructions when I asked her to blend his head to his body. (The same instructions given to other groomers at Petsmart in other locations) Being a school-trained groomer myself, I assumed she understood me to blend the back of his head to his neck and not touch his face. I should have been very specific. She literally shaved off his eyebrows and the whole top of his head. My poor dog looks bald. read more

Exceptional customer service yesterday when they were looking for a prescription diet cat food that I need to pick up. Not a long hold time on the phone. When I got to the Banfield counter (to get my Rx card validated), the ladies were friendly and professional, putting calls on hold rather than making me stand there and wait. The one lady shouted "goodbye" to me in the parking lot when we both walked out of the store at nearly the same time. I called back today because I had to pick up the hard version of this prescription diet and also I noticed an error on my receipt from yesterday. The manager, Michael, remembered me from yesterday - identifying himself "hi, I'm the one that pulled the soft food for you." Love it! thank you for the excellent service; I look forward to popping back in. read more

Honestly, 75% of my interaction with the employees at this location have not been the greatest. I ask questions and they just say, rudely, that they don't know instead of trying to find out for me. It makes me nervous to even ask any questions. Maybe it's time to consider retraining in customer service. Update.. after waiting five minutes in the fish department I had my daughter run up to ask Kevin to call someone to help us. The guy who was called walked straight past us and helped someone else. Then, after waiting five minutes again because these guys were having a long conversation, a female came out and asked if we needed anything and I said yes, we had someone called out to help us but he didn't. She rolled her eyes and started grabbing our shrimp. No apology or thanks for waiting? You guys are terrible and I'm going to start making the drive to any other pet store because Kevin doesn't deserve my bad mood after I deal with the other rude employees in this store. Kevin, you're amazing and you hold the store together with your customer service. Everyone else needs to get replaced. read more

My boyfriend are getting two puppies this week & we are new at this. We ventured to PetSmart in search of food, bedding, a crate... and a little bit of everything. We had so many questions and ran into Vanessa. She was SO very helpful. Her, along with Nick, went over food options, crating, vet visits and just about everything puppy with us. We are SO very happy we stopped in! It's refreshing to meet people who are interested in helping you & who are as nice as Vanessa is. I had come into today and got a bunch of toys and thought that one had been left behind at the cash register (which the employee that had rung up my order was very nice and helpful) however when I had called the store to ask about the toy I was greeted with a very rude response to my situation and was made to feel not like a valued customer that had just spent $70 at this location. The manager named Cody was extremely short with me and got frustrated when I didn't know where a specific code number on my receipt was. Overall I was pissed off when the call was done. But shoutout to the employee that rang us up I wish I knew his name to give him credit. read more

Awful experience with the PetsHotel. Employees were completely unprofessional and disrespectful. Upon arrival they were all sitting on the counter and acted annoyed to have to do anything. Completely unhelpful. This rude teenager turned away two of our three dogs for shot record issues. Never called to tell me there was an issue and when I asked why he said "we don't have to do that". I've been taking my other dog there for years and have always been contacted if there was a potential issue which would keep her from being boarded. So instead you wait until I'm dropping them off at 6:30 on a Friday night to tell me you need more documentation and I have a flight leaving first thing in the morning. How am I supposed to do that? For $1400 for the week... I think you can make a phone call to let me know. The kid was snarky and rude and scoffed at me after anything I said. I'm not sure what happened to this place but they really need to clean house with how this place conducts their business. I will never bring my animals there and will make sure anyone I know doesn't either. read more

I wish I could give 0 stars as PetSmart Grooming at this location has gone to crap. I don't know who is running this location but the customer service is atrocious and the excuses they come with are laughable. After taking my dogs there for last four years the last couple of months they call and say they can't wash my dog because she is sensitive to water!!? I guess she can't drink it anymore and then blame me for making an appointment at 11 am I'm like excuse me. In any case avoid this place if you love your dogs! read more

Wish I had read the reviews before making an appointment to have my little dog groomed! Don't find out until after she is dropped off that it will be 3-4 hours because they are overbooked!!! Maybe you need better time management and not take on more dogs than you can handle. read more

I've been bringing my dog to this location for over 5 years and since Covid the level of service is just not the same at doggie day camp. They have a much younger crew of workers and they don't pay attention to detail or provide good customer service like the older adults that used to work there. You schedule curb-side pickup for a reason because you're on your way to work and half the time their late, or they forget to come out, or like today they tell you their the only one working so they can't do curbside, and you walk inside and there's not even a customer waiting to be checked in. Not sure if management ran off the more experienced crew. Up training is definitely needed. Would love to see an older adult step in to manage this process more efficiently! read more

My husband and I just moved here from Chicago. I used Petsmart there for doggy hotel, day camp and grooming and they were extremely wonderful and welcoming to us. (Naperville, IL store on RT 59). So naturally when my 3 dogs needed bathing I called and made a reservation at the Lake Pleasant Petsmart. Upon my arrival on 2/14/19 at 7:30am, I was welcomed with 3 groomers chatting at the desk and looking at me oddly. They asked what I was there for and I said I have an appt. They disagreed and said my appt was at 7am. It wasn't, but that's a moot point now. So I proceeded to ask if there was a problem. The response the groomer said to me was, "Well it's raining, and I don't have any towels." I have many issues with this comment. 1-Who cares if it's raining out, it's my prerogative if I want to pay for my 3 dogs to get a bath or not. 2-If you, as a Grooming salon, actually didn't have ANY towels, wouldn't I have been called 1st thing that morning to cancel the appointment?? 3-They were so rude and literally didn't care about my business. Now we had taken the dogs to the hotel at the same location and the employees there were so kind. I emailed customer service this complaint on 2/14/19 and received an immediate response saying that I would be contacted by management in 1-2 business days. Well the 1-2 business days have come and gone and it's been radio silence. Super disappointed in Petsmart, and there headquartered in Phoenix!!! Never ever returning they do not deserve my money. Meanwhile, the groomer at Petsmart in Naperville, IL called me to see how the pups were and if we needed to come in for any grooming services!!!!! Kudos to the Naperville team!!! read more

My dog has been coming to this location for 2 years and it's starting to become like taking your car to the car wash with all the up selling with window cracks and a full detail.y dogs fur doesn't change we come for the same treatment wash and haircut .. lately I have been walking out with a bill larger than what was I tended with no discussion of additional cost. I am glad they took off the charge as it was only right. I'm not sure why this keeps happening but it makes for an awkward and uncomfortable parting. My family brings our dogs here for the Banfield pet hospital. We have pet insurance through them so we save a ton of money whenever we bring them in. Although it is a money bill, the money we have saved has more than made up for itself. Our dogs get 2 comprehensive exams a year and one teeth cleaning. There is also a discount on any medications or any other exams/treatments that you may need to get. The store itself is a nice store. We have always found it to be clean and would recommend it to anyone looking for a store to buy things for their current pets or are looking for a new one. read more

I booked a pets hotel reservation for my puppy almost 2 months in advance. I booked a private suite because she would be about 6 months old when she was staying there for 4 nights and 5 days and I wanted to ensure she would be comfortable. I was told it was a suite when I booked. When they called to confirm a few days before, again, the suite was confirmed. The morning I dropped her off the woman stated her stay was in a suite. I advised both verbally and written on the paper work that she needed harnesses only as she has a collapsing trachea. When I called two days in to check on Minx (my puppy), the woman had no idea who she was or how she was and placed me on hold to "check on her" she did not mention anything at all and all she said was "he's doing fine." When I corrected her that she was a female I thought it was strange but an honest mistake. We got back from our trip early so I went to pick her up today, instead of tomorrow morning, she told me that my puppy did not eat any of her food the entire stay and then proceeded to give me a completely empty bag of food. I asked if she didn't eat any of the food, why was there none left? I had given WAY more than usual in case. Her response? "I'm not sure... I'll have to make note of that." At this point I'm convinced they keep the food for the doggie day care or something. She was brought out with a leash around her neck. When I advised the woman that she needs harnesses only because of her trachea, she said the whole rest of the time they only used harnesses. She was shaking and looked unrecognizable. Literally like a dog out of a Sarah McLachlan commercial. My eyes immediately filled with tears to which the woman replied, "Yeah... she didn't do well. Next time you should book a suite." I said I DID book a suite and she looks at the paper work and replies, "Oh. You did. We ran out of them someone should've told you." So for 5 whole days my puppy sat in a noisy room with a bunch of other dogs in her own crate-like thing, absolutely terrified. I told the woman had I known this, I wouldn't have booked the stay. I think they knew that and that's why they purposely did not tell me. She could not have cared less. I requested manager contact information and was given a assistant lead's card and told to call tomorrow. I ignored all of the absolute horror stories I had heard about Petsmart because of the good reviews online at this location but now it's clear they're all fraudulent reviews. How could you let a 6 month old puppy shake and cower for 5 days straight and do nothing? And not tell me the truth when I called? I could've had someone pick her up. And she smelled as if she sat in that box of a room for 5 days straight. I am absolutely certain they didn't take her out one single time. I would absolutely not recommend Petsmart hotels EVER as they clearly do not care about animals at all. My poor puppy is scarred and I feel so, so guilty for leaving her there. read more

I have been using this PetSmart grooming dept. for 4 years. A friend recommended a groomer at this location whom I used until she retired. I drive from Surprise and had been disappointed over and over again by other groomers included the Surprise PetSmart. I have been requesting Billie for over a year and I have found the most caring, careful, competent groomer ever. I bring my two small dogs MONTHLY who obviously love Billie and they look so very beautiful and healthy. My dogs have come home from other groomers with various illnesses and limps (I'm guessing the dog falls off the table) and inconsistently without receiving the standard care including their nails and anal glands being addressed. I don't even know where to begin with the veterinary services at this location. Never staffed and when they are, all phone calls are ignored. The only reason my dog is behind on her shots is because I have to wait around and call multiple days in a row before I ever get ahold of someone, then they are booked out for 2 weeks since they are never operating in normal business hours. My dog ended up having diarrhea and vomiting and I couldn't get through to anyone for days. What's the point of being my dog's veterinary doctor when I have to call an emergency office to even get my dog seen? The doctor has rescheduled appointments last minute due to his own "emergencies" and none of the staff are ever on the same page for exam fees. I was told that my first initial exam was $60 and the shot only visits after that would be just $40, to be charged $60 every 2-3 week appt and challenged by the tech like I was trying to get discounted services. I can't even get ahold of them now to get my dogs shot records emailed to me to switch vets so she can finally get her last round of shots and I've been calling for 4 days. read more

I've heard a million bad things about the grooming at PetSmart but I've never had a problem. So I drop my dog off and leave. I arrive maybe 10 minutes later and the groomer was "on lunch" and the vet had "just stepped out." So they bring him out and tell me I don't have to pay anything and management has my paperwork. This will be the first and last time I step foot in the grooming dept. My first impression was made by an extremely rude groomer named, Cheryl, yelling at me as soon as I walked in. My dog gets stressed when I take her for grooming, so I will admit that I was distracted by that and completely missed the clear sign on the door stating "one family at a time". (There was one lady already standing in the area.) Again, I admit that I missed the sign. But, there was absolutely no reason whatsoever for her to yell at me like that. Normally I would have ripped her to shreds for speaking to me like that, but I don't have the time for nonsense these days. All she had to do was ask politely and I would've gladly stepped out of the area. We're all learning new restrictions and how to adjust to the "new norm" with this covid-19, so a little compassion goes a long way when dealing with customers. I do it every day with my own customers. Between all of the girls nasty attitudes and looks, and the one groomer pulling and yelling at the poor little dog she was grooming right there in front of me, I decided that it was not the place for my pup. PetSmart you should know that for a first time customer, it was a horrible experience. Only ONE of your groomers there (Jennifer W.) was polite and smiled. I'll keep my business at Scottsdale Petco, definitely worth the drive for excellent service and pet grooming. read more

Alex (1 year old yellow lab) LOVES Petsmart Doggie Day Camp and Boarding! We've sent him there for a day, while the carpets were being cleaned, as well as several days while we were out of town. The staff is good with him and seem to enjoy his boundless energy. They are thorough with their check-in procedures, asking about special needs, meds, etc. and have a comprehensive list for both check-in and out. He gets to play with other dogs, can have private playtime, has clean housing, can be groomed and many more options are available. He likes the interaction with other dogs and with different people and he really enjoys himself there. The staff also builds a nice report with him. Wow! All I have to say is if your dog limps they won't groom them. About a week ago I made an online appt to have my 8 year old dog groomed. I mentioned in the comments she had had a spinal stroke in the past and her front leg had a limp. She has recovered completely and just has a slight limp in her front leg. I wanted them to know that so if they saw her limping they wouldn't think they caused it. So, today, a day before she was to be groomed they called and said they couldn't groom her because she couldn't stand and she was too old. I told them that of course she could stand and she was only 8. They said they thought she was 18. I told them they had misunderstood her condition and that the was 8 not 18. At that point I saw no reason why they couldn't groom her so I asked to speak with the manager. Of course that manager wasn't in yet so I spoke to Shawn who was some sort of manager and he was absolutely no help. My biggest issue is they waited until the day before she was to be groomed to tell me. If I had known when I made the appt they wouldn't do it, I could have made different plans. Now I have to try to find a another place and of course they are all booked up. Also, I understand they didn't have the correct info about her condition and age, but when corrected I feel they should have been able to groom her. Just because your dog has a slight limp it shouldn't be a problem. So, just passing on this info. Of course they have a perfect right to refuse service to anyone, but when it was a misunderstanding on their part they should have done the right thing when they were corrected. I'll never use a pet smart again. You can take the chance if you want. But just know, if your dog limps and/or is 18, you'll probably need to go elsewhere. read more

Dog-friendly store makes this the go to if you have pets. Also, they sell stuff for cats, fish, birds, and, of course, live crickets for the pet tarantula. At 17 cents each, its beats chasing down bugs in the back yard. (Warning: do not let them escape. The cat will go nuts. ) The fish guy told us he's very fond of the fish, so I'm pretty sure that means they get good care here.
