It's a hit or miss for me. Sometimes i get a really good groomer and my dog comes out looking amazing other times I get an ok groomer and that's how I feel about the cut they give my dog. Every time i frequent this place I experience some form of racial discrimination, if I'm not followed around the store with "can I help you harassment or the "let me straighten up this isle" that we're in B.S it's getting passed over for white customers. Today was the last straw, the Clerk saw us standing there, walked past us and asked the first white customer she saw. My dog Joe stayed at the PetsHotel at this location from 2/20 to 2/23. Great experience! The staff treated him very well, gave me updates whenever I called and accommodated me when I had to pick up Joe earlier than planned! They bathed him and trimmed his nails with no problem! We adopted our Boxer in March. I have taken him to the petsmart groomer a couple of times. Always a wonderful experience. They are caring and loving and always find a spot even same day. I don't understand the negative reviews and think they are for minor issues- pushy sales people? Welcome to retail! If you're going to write a review- write it about services and quality. I have been coming to this Petsmart for over 3 years. The staff knows me and my dog by name- including new staff members (they learn quick). They greet my dog without fail whenever we come in-and my dog goes right to them, a surefire sign that she has been treated with respect on their premises, and yes I can tell by her reaction because her vet is in the back of the store, Canfield, and she knows that area too and puts the breaks on when I walk her there, so yes, my dog is aware of her surroundings. My dog has boarded here when we have been on vacation, numerous times, and never with an issue. They wash the blankets I leave her with, return any unused food, and report her quality of stay. I have called while away to check on her and once, she was sick and they called my emergency contact. My mom couldn't square away the boarding tab so she couldn't bring her home, but they allowed her to hold my dog and comfort her. Once I transferred funds to my mom, she was able to pick her up in our absence without an issue. They are a very caring staff- most dog owners themselves. I also leave her frequently for the doggy daycamp which is a great price. I drop her off before work at 7 am and pick her up by 8:30 and she is tired for a good 1-2 days after- a sign that she has played. I have even done surprise check ins and returned to the store before I said I was picking her up to see if she is where they say she is. I check to see if she is in the rooms playing or she is just being crated. I am one of those crazy dog parents that only gives my dog the best. If I had any inkling that they were failing to care for my dog in any way, I would discontinue going to the store. I have no reservations about leaving her to board or play in camp. The added convenience of having her vet Banfield on location is a plus for us. read more

I took my dog to get groomed at the Pelham Manor location a few times. For the price, I feel it's an exceptional value in comparison to other pet groomers in my area. I will only allow the manager to groom my dog though. I am very pleased with her skills and the care she provides my pet. read more

I will never entrust the care of MY dog with the Pelham Petshotel or Pelham Banfield Hospital. Checked in my dog for boarding before driving to Massachusetts. Received call next day he had diarrhea, said it was all over the place, that he couldn't stay, and that I had to pick him up. I then requested assistance from Banfield. Makes sense, right? After all, my dog's been a Banfield client for years. Long story short, I ended up driving back to NY to get my dog, to get him medical attention that he went without because of the lack of concern both the hotel and hospital displayed. Can you imagine receiving a call that your pet is sick and being in the care of people who didn't have the wherewithal to handle? Can you believe the Petshotel attendant I spoke with never even bothered to walk across or call the Banfield hospital, instead went on a break? Can you believe after I contacted the Banfield hospital on the same day, BEFORE 4 pm, and told they would check on my 16-year-old dog, but that two hours would go by before they told me they weren't going to see my dog because at 6p they had an emergency come in with another pet? Can you believe that even after I filed a complaint on Sept 4 and again on Sept 16, that NO ONE from Petsmart has contacted me? Believe it! read more

I've had my dog groomed here once, taken doggie classes here, and buy supplies here. The only thing I haven't done is boarded my dog here. The grooming went fine and my pup came out looking so beautiful that a big burly guy in the parking lot even enthusiastically commented on her as we went to our car! Making a grooming appointment online and on the phone proved to be strangely difficult, though. The dog trainer, Jacquie (I think that's how it's spelled), has been amazing - though I wish our dog listened to me as much as she does Jacquie... I buy higher end dog and cat food at Choice Pets in Scarsdale but get a fair amount of other pet stuff here. read more

After waiting in line for a while, all of a sudden an employee tells me to move back to the line since now it was only one line to pay (even though two registers were opened). The week before I was at this same Petsmart and there were two cashiers opened and a line in each one. If they now want only one line, it's very simple if they would just put up a sign that says so. As a matter if fact, I have been going to that store for over a year and have always seen a line in each register (when more than one are opened). It's perfectly ok if they want only one line but it should not be guessing game. Put up a sign and let the customer know to form only one line. read more

AWFUL!!!! I brought my 2 pound puppy to the store this week and was completely disgusted with the service. The "groomer" completely ignored my request to not shave my puppy as she is a long haired dog. I returned to pick up my dog to find her shaved to the skin. Not only that, but my dog was burned by dull buzzers and is now traumatized. We brought her to the emergency vet after we brought her home. The vet informed us the groomer was too rough with my dog of that size which resulted in a sprained limb. My heart is broken at the lack of respect for my animal and the denial from the groomer. When my family called to inform the store, the employees were rude and accusatory towards us! I DO NOT recommend anyone bringing in a beloved animal into this store to have them injured and to have your needs as a customer ignored. read more

I used to bring my dog here for a deshedding bath all the time, I was very pleased with their work until the groomer we were using left. There has been a decline in their service. I recently made an appointment 2 days in advance for my dogs usual deshedding bath, when I arrive the day of the appointment I'm told they do not have any deshedding shampoo and cannot give that type of bath (isn't that something they should have checked being they had an ample amount of time to check their inventory). Anyway at that point my dog needed a bath so I had no choice but to get a regular one, I was told it would be one hour. I got a call 30 minutes later that he was done (I could just imagine the effort that went into that bath), when I go to pay I see there was an extra $7 charge I ask for what and I'm told it was for the oatmeal bath. The groomer did offer to waive it but that should have been something a customer is told in advance not after the fact. Needless to say I won't be returning to this place! read more

The first appointment for my dog was great as we were new to the Banfield. They got me signing up for the monthly membership. I have been having hard time getting an appointment for neutering my dog. They say some one will call me to schedule an appointment and no body does. I asked about it every time I go back for my dogs appointment. Same story repeatedly. Now ever since the COVID, the service is really bad- you have an appointment to get a shot or a booster shot, appointment is at 4.30 let's say and you have to drop the pet off between 12 and 2 pm. Are they forgetting that pets also get COVID?? Last time I dropped my dog off to get a shot, he came home terrified. Customer service first of all is really bad to begin with and it has gotten worse after the COVID. I wish I can secretly record how the customer service speaks to you-just to prove that I wasn't exaggerating. Terrible people skills and some how they expect us to drop off our pets for few hours and not sure how they are going to treat our pet. read more

My dog is a little special. She's a "scaredy cat" if you will. We go for bath and brush every 6-8 weeks. She goes in nervous looking back at me and always a good girl for the groomer. While she doesn't like the blow dryer, the groomers are always able to manage. The staff is always so warm and welcoming. We try to get in first thing in the morning to beat the rush of the other dogs. Other dogs adds to my and my dogs anxiety. read more

This grooming place is the worst, it's ran by a group of immature young girls, they have no idea of what customer service skills are. I just got a dog and took her for a bath after she got skunked. Dropped her at 11:30 and they called me back to pick her up after 5, with an attitude telling me that I needed to pick up my dog cause I left her there for too long and they had called me and I had said that I was going to be there within 20 min., that never happened,( first time in, didn't know how it worked and just waited for the call from them to pick her up). On top of that they lost her vaccine tag and tried to say my dog didn't have it on, since I got her I never removed her collar, and I'm sure she had it on. I went next day and one of the attendants told me they will look for the tag I will get a called within 2 days and 6 weeks later it has not happen. I never went back to that place read more

i was in the bronx on football sunday which is a traditional trek for years and remembered that i better pick up some needed dog food , some doggy treats and large bag of wee wee pads or else the little bastard will starve , will get restless , will stink up my crib . this pelham petsmart is near the Bronx border and has all the stuff you need for your pets from dogs , cats , fish , reptiles , etc and even those disgusting pet rats . they also do grooming and vet services which from the price board is a bit steep for this part of Westchester . they also offer pet hotel service from one day stays and longer , i would never bring my nieces dog here cause if i did i can guarantee that his stay would be permanent cause i ain't coming back to pick up that bastard (only kidding i think .). the staff are friendly and helpful with finding the right dog food and doggy supplies i needed quickly . the prices are about what i paid at other large chain pets stores however the wee wee pads are a bitj cheaper here then other places i have visited . some folks really love their pets as i witness a lady crying like an idiot while her poodle was getting her nails clipped (what a fool ). overall this is a decent place to visit for your pet needs but if you are not in a hurry for pet food or other supplies then i suggest shopping online cause it's cheaper . P.s. they have a adoption center here and a few parents were getting pets for the spoiled little brats . read more

Went there yesterday to buy a couple of Angelfishes for my tank. After waiting 15 minutes, someone finally showed up to help. She asked about the size of my tank, and then refused to sell the fishes to me. Her reason was that my tank was too small, and it was "inhumane" to place the fishes in there. I've had fishes for at least 20 years, so I know a lot more than her about what's good for them. I did not ask for her advice, and I did not care for it. When she is too lazy to sell me what I want, I take my business elsewhere. Luckily for me, there is another store close by in Mt Vernon. They had muuuch better selection, and helpful assistants. I got 3 Angelfishes from them without any hassle. read more

Boarded my dog at PetSmart in Pelham, NY. Requested individual playtime and grooming. I called everyday to check on her. When I picked the dog up they gave me a Pawgress Report stating she played with other dogs and there were abrasions on her forearms and hocks that were bleeding. After speaking to the staff they contacted the manager, Taylor, who told them not to charge for the boarding, but to charge for the grooming. Then, she said for me to take the dog to my vet and they would reimburse me the charge. When I put the dog in the car she was bleeding, so I took her to the emergency vet that evening. When I contacted the store, Taylor told me she did not say they would reimburse me and that she would have to sumbit a claim with the home office. She asked me to bring in the vet bill. I too called the home office and they never called me back. I provided the vet and grooming bills along with pictures of my dog's injuries to the store over a week ago and have not heard back. During one of my calls with Taylor, she said the dog was on the floor and rubbed these abrasions on herself. I would like to know why would they allow this to happen, if that's the truth. I gave them a blanket that she could have laid on if the bed was uncomfortable and they should have mentioned this to me when I called. Why let this happen, when I could've had my emergency contact go and get her. Plus, they had to have known this dog was bleeding the evening I picked her up, because there was blood on my car protector when we left the store. They never mentioned a word to me when they brought her out of the boarding area. I believe these injuries are a result of poor grooming. She is a short haired pointer that does not require any cutting or shaving and I believe that's exactly what they did. I want to be reimbursed for the vet and grooming fees, I want to see a video of her play and grooming time. Plus, I want a formal apology from PetSmart. read more

I took my dog here for Doggie Day Camp. I was very pleased with the way I was treated and reassured my dog would be well taken care of. I watched the staff handle the dogs and watched as my dog was introduced to the play area. I was happy to see everything went smoothly. The play area was well organized and all the dogs looked happy. I left my dog in the care of the "Pet hotel" over a long weekend that I had gone away for. Horrible decision. I received a call midway through his stay saying that he had hurt his paw somehow (which they couldn't definitively even tell me how it happened). They said he was bleeding and could not stay another night at the hotel. I cut my weekend short to come pick him up, to discover his paw bleeding. No explanation, no apology, just a demand of payment. Even after arguing with the manager, I was told they are not responsible for injuries such as this. After paying them, including for the Suite and supervised playtime, which were extra so my dog would be as comfortable as possible (or so I thought), I took him to the vet for them to care to the cut on his paw(which thank God wasn't too serious). So after being out the hotel cost, vet costs, and having my dog suffer at the hands of these so called professionals, I can safely say if you love your pet, please please do not consider leaving them at a Petsmart Hotel. read more

This is the worst PetSmart to go to. The first time we went with our puppy majority of all the collars and leashes were on recall. When I asked the salesmen why they were all on recall he couldn't give me a straight answer. He told us he didn't recommend getting our puppy a leash either! How are we supposed to walk our dog without a leash? He was extremely pushy on certain items even after we told him we weren't interested. The second time we went we came in to get her a harness for walking. A different sales person helped us and he couldn't answer any of our questions. And didn't even fit her for the correct size. We left and went somewhere's else. By far the worst experience, we always give places two try's because people can always have an off day but we will never go back to this PetSmart for our dog ever again. read more

Beware of the toll free reservations service. I reserved a 5 night stay for my puppy at the toll free call center. Call was handled professionally. What I didn't know was that my dog was being booking as an "Overflow" guest at the hotel. She would not have the same room each night. The call center ALWAYS referred to it as a room and only said she got the last ROOM (not slot) available.. Fortunately I went to the hotel for a site visit and when asked to see the room my dog would be using I then learned there was no guaranteed room. The hotel would move her around to an empty room each day. I was very impressed with the actual hotel and friendly staff and may go back in the future but ONLY when I know my dog will be treated as a valuable guest and not a transient. Local management Must share the existence of this practice with the Corp. call center to stop this from happening to unsuspecting other dog owners. read more

My first visit here was about six months ago with my jack russell/ dachschund mix puppy. The groomer (who's name I cannot recall, I apologize, but she was excellent)did an evaluation of my dog along with his medical/surgical history. The manager called me during his visit just to confirm a scab on his ear he had developed from scratching. Thought this was an excellent and professional of them to do so. I brought him again on January 28, 2013 for another grooming session and Josmary was very polite, appreciated his friendliness and was extremely patient with him, eventhough I know he can't stay very still for very long and cries a lot when he goes to the groomer. She did an amazing job removing the knots that had accumulated and with the cut in general. Coming back here everytime. read more

I left my 2 years old Siberian Husky Molly at the Petsmart in 830 Pelham Parkway Pelham, New York 10803 while I went on vacation. If you have a dog that does not go to the bathroom in the house this is not the dog hotel you want to leave your dog. My dog does not pee or poop in the house let alone in a cage "sweet". The staff members at this location are not passionate with dogs. They talk to the owners of the dog like if they know more and you have no say. The second day of my vacation, I received a call from my sister reporting that Molly had a urine infection. This included Molly not being able to interact with other dogs due to this. When I picked up Molly the staff member reported that Molly was aggressive, bit a staff member, she does not interact with other dogs without lashing out, has food aggression, and would not cooperate with directions. This is a kind and generous dog that is well trained. I live across a large park where Molly walks three times a day. She interacts with other dogs without "lashing out" in her home park and when I take her to dog parks around the city. She has been approached by individuals and family of children and adults on a daily basis where she sits and at times rolls on her back for people to pet and rub her belly. If you tell Molly no or other commands she obeys. I scheduled Molly to be bathed on her last day. The staff reported that she did not want to leave the kennel and she was too aggressive therefore they could not give her a bath. I thought I left my dog with well trained trainers/keepers. This Petsmart falls way behind with customer service and passion towards dogs. I left out of there feeling like I was taken for my money and my dog was treated like an object put away in solitary confinement for a week. I took her home and she drank a bowl 1/2 of water. She never has done that. Today three days later Molly is still fearful and is not as energetic like she used to be. I have a feeling that my dog was abused with no way to prove it. I do not recommend this Petsmart. read more

I love this Petsmart! I bring my dog all the time to get everything from her collar to floor cleaner (when she has accidents) and I brought her to take puppy classes there. During the class, there were about 6-7 dogs. They were not separated by size, so the big dogs were with the little dogs. My dog is a little dog, and she was very scared of the big dogs, so mostly spent the classes on our laps. The only thing I would say, is that they should separate the different sizes of dogs. read more

ZERO STARS! I brought in my puppy for her first grooming session she is a labradoodle she had a beautiful coat. I specifically told the groomer no hair cut just trim on her paws and around her eyes so we can see her eyes. I DONT KNOW HOW MANY TIMES WE TOLD HER NO CUT JUST TRIM AND WE ALSO WENT BACK TO TELL HER DO NOT CUT HER FACIAL HAIR!! I came back to pick her up her face was COMPLETLY shaven!!! She looks like a prissy poodle I wanted her to keep her teddy bear look she no longer has that! I will never bring her back here. Not only did they cut her facial hair they also cut her complete coat! This was COMPLETLY unnecessary. The excuse we were given was she had a too many knots this is untrue as we brush her daily. They should have given us a call if they were going to do something we specifically told them not to. This is my baby! I went back to get a refund and only got back 11 dollars even though they promote a "garantee your happy or it's free". The manager said she could only give me a refund of 11 dollars. If you want your dog shaven go here if u want her groomed go somewhere else! read more
