We made a grooming appointment for our pups and realised that our younger shiba, Keiji, was due for his vaccinations. Hubby was able to make a total last minute appointment for me to bring him down for a check-up. Hubby had been here before, so he knew the procedure. This particular visit was during the pandemic so there were steps in place to ensure aaftey for all. They have a small parking lot that you pull into and park, text or call their office number and they respond, asking you to bring the pup to the front door when they're ready for you.
The guy that picked up Keiji was very nice. I believe he said he was new to the practice at the time. He took him and Keiji seemed super relaxed. They took my number down and I went back to my car to wait. Hubby mentioned that it's a weird process, leaving your fur baby in the hands of strangers, and just waiting to hear back from them. I felt comfortable with the process and being medical personnel, we understand the importance of social distancing for staff AND fur family alike, and appreciate the extra precautions they put into place.
While I was in the car the called me to inquire about Keiji's affect at home, and get some background history. We determined that he would require all of his vaxxes and he then transferred me to reception to settle the bill. The ladies in the front still had our card info on file from our older pup's prior visit and paying was a seamless transaction.
When my transaction was completed, I picked Keiji up at the front door and saw that he had accosted the new recruit, because there was white fur all over his scrubs. I feel secure that our dogs are in good hands at this practice, and while it may be a littler farther now that we've moved, I don't mind driving a ways if I'm confident that we're getting the best treatment.
Fast forward to this past week, after our eldest pup passed away. Our younger pup began to act odd and we became worried that he might be getting ill as well. My son took him out for a walk and he had blood in his stool. We called the office and they fit us in very last minute. I rushed him to the office with my daughter and we did not have to wait long, despite being a walk-in. They have a smart waiting area where cat and exotic pets enter one side of the office and doggos enter the other. It's all the same waiting area but they're separated in order to keep the peace. There are two cats that are very friendly, roaming about, and plenty of books and publications for you and old, to past the time while waiting.
Dr. Ring and Sandro assisted us. They took care of him and were extremely open with explaining everything that they were doing. Being traumatized from our other pup's death, I requested x-rays and they obliged. Luckily everything is fine with Keiji and we received antibiotics same day. The doctor explained everything and went over the xrays with me, and Sandro was very sweet to my daughter, trying to include her in the discussion despite her being shy.
Dr. Ring called the following day to check up on us and to confirm Keiji's xray results. She called again to inform us of his lab results and because he's been diagnosed with a UTI, she has set up for us to pick up more meds for him. All of their work is up front and we've never felt like they're price-gouging, as we have at other facilities. I'm really happy we found this pet hospital. read more
