The review is for the grooming department. I went in for my appointment on time. There were six people there -at least. None of them acknowledged me. It is very unwelcoming department. I came in early the second time and was told by one person to wait a "few minutes " for the groomer scheduled with my pet. Then, a man ( noticed his name-Manny) stated very unkindly that I couldn't wait inside because the person that was supposed to help me is out to lunch so I had to come back 17 minutes later when she's scheduled to return. (my scheduled time was 11:30, I had came in at 11:13) I came back at my scheduled time and she was still out to lunch. Reluctantly, another person checked my dog in. After the service was done, I asked to speak with a manager to provide feedback and inform that my dog did not receive everything included in the package I was transferred to Manny, who is one of the rude unwelcoming persons in that department. I didn't know at the time he is the manager there. When I informed him that when I picked up my dog, he did not receive everything included in the package I paid for He condescendingly laughed and said he would give me a three dollar credit. I originally ordered the deluxe package and his staff downgraded my packaged and charged me for 30 minutes extra without my knowledge. My dog came back with a lot of shedding hair. I will definitely not be returning. read more

Horrible service at the groomers with Amanda. Took my puppy in for service today so he can get his nails trim today and a bath which took 2 hours. I finally get a call that he is ready to get picked up but she couldn't trim his nails. He spent 2 hours there for no reason! And he doesn't even have fur so it took her 2 hours to call me to inform me that the service wasn't going to be complete. I could have bathe him at home! Then she gets the manager on the line and she is arguing with me about not doing it. It specifically says it is included in their package that nail trimming is included! They both need to be fired! My first experience walking in with Amanda was already bad cause she didn't seem pet friendly at all. Don't take your pet here if you guys care for your pets the way that I do. read more

"Red"HAIR. That's all you need to read. The pattern is this if you encounter the crazy B with the red hair (unnatural dyed red aka burgundy) you and your pet will have a bad time. This is it though the last time we do doggy camp with them with so many other places in Pasadena we won't be going back just because they have all his records. I'd much rather drive to the San Dimas location. It's a world of difference. Anyway I have a sweet lab mix thats young and playful. Every time I've ever come he's kenneled. First he mounted then it was that he drank the dirty water they use to clean up pee puddles. I'm sorry WTF am I paying you for?? TO WATCH HIM. If you have a young dog DO NOT come here. They are so super lazy they rather kennel dogs because they are severely overbooked and under staffed. Their groomers are nice ppl though. The parking lot has plenty of spaces. As I entered the store, it is bright and clean. I was looking for a specific item in the fish section. Workers are friendly and tried to be helpful. I complimented that the fish tanks are kept very clean. The entire store has a clean feel. I didn't find my specific item, but I will definitely come back to this store. read more

Paid for puppy beginner training but I think the trainer didn't have much patience with my puppy who was obviously very anxious being there and in that tiny space, but I think he just didn't really want to say it. He also seemed to favor the other pup that was way more obedient and had better training. On the last day my dog was super anxious and she was just done, he seemed to notice that and sent us home, he didn't even offer a makeup class the following week at least didn't even say a word. I really think he didn't like me and my fiancé or our puppy as much we where there for a reason to get help from a so called pro we feel like we honestly wasted our money. That hand book of 5 commands I'm sure I could have bought off Amazon. I will not give up on my puppy I will continue to try very hard every day and invest on a better trainer. read more

Horrible customer service! Extremely rude and not willing to help. Lisa was the cashier that I spoke with. The Manager wouldn't come out to speak with me. I needed a vet prescription food and drove all the way from Palmdale because they are the only store that has it in stock. The manager Isidro (not sure if that is how you spell it) would not sell the food to me even though I had vet invoices and had my vet personally called them. I was standing there for a long time waiting for it to be approved. They wanted a written prescription but my vet does not write out prescriptions they only verbally approve. I also have multiple invoices from the vet showing I do purchase this food. I have picked up food this way at another petsmart and they did approve it and sell it to me. They could've been professional and polite about it but instead they were rude pushed me to the side and acted as if I was not there. I was just trying to get my dog his food as he has a sensitive stomach and they are out of food everywhere else. read more

Doggy Day Camp I take my dog here once in a while, and haven't complained once until today! So I needed my rat terrier who has cataracts to stay here for a few hours while I went to school. I come back to pick him up, and he is in a kennel about 6 feet off the floor because the supervisor said he was getting scared of the other dogs. Which was fine with me. This was my problem though: I was standing outside the door watching the supervisor woman and this Caucasian guy with long scruffy blonde hair and glasses take him from the Kennel. As the guy opens the kennel door nobody even bothered to shield my dog in case he attempts to jump out (which my dog did, and he's half blind!) so my dog jumps out and falls real hard straight on the floor on his back and hits his head. Did they expect a tiny 15 pound half blind dog to just jump 6 feet and land without getting hurt? The worker knowing that my boyfriend and I had seen everything just ignored that we had saw it, and didn't even bother to come out and apologize. After my pup had fell the supervisor lady was rubbing his head til she thought he was ok inside the room. She then comes out with my pup and acts as if nothing happened!!! She just said he was a little timid at doggy day camp, and didn't even bother to mention that he had fell and hit his head. How effing rude, seriously. I saw everything! I thought I had a place where I can take my dog, but the irresponsible workers are ridiculous. If my dog seriously was hurt today, there would've been a lawsuit... I will never take my dog here again, and maybe you dog owners should think twice before taking your dog here. 4/29/12 So after posting this a few days before, I received a phone call from one of the managers saying that she had read my review here, and wanted to apologize for the bad experience at Petsmart. She told me that this is not how Petsmart employees handle situations, and that she had a sit-down with the employees and went over the situation to make sure this won't happen again. The lady was sincere about everything that had happened to my pup, and said if anything that was serious was to happen to him that day they would have took him in to get checked by a vet at no charge. She offered me credit towards doggy day camp (which I probably won't consider there again) or a $25 gift card. This review is on my horrible experience with Amanda F. at the grooming salon. I made a pawdicure appointment for my puppy and the associate asked me if my puppy had her rabies shot yet. I did not have my paperwork on hand at the time so I replied yes, but that I was not certain. When I told the employee that I had adopted my puppy at this very same Petsmart, she declared that she definitely would have had her shots done and confirmed my appointment time I arrived a few minutes early to my 3pm appointment and called to check in. I was told to wait by the red tent in front of the entrance and that someone is coming outside to greet me. We waited 15 minutes in the hot summer sun before Amanda F. finally came out. She wanted me to provide paperwork to prove that my puppy got all her shots and I saw her take a big step back from us when I told her that I did not have them. She refused to honor our appointment unless I could provide paperwork and no amount of explaining would persuade her. She did not even want to check the system for my puppy's record. Frustrated, I told her that I can come back with the paperwork in 10-15 minutes. She replied back, "ummm, can you come back in, like, EXACTLY 10 minutes because I need to take my lunch." Now annoyed, I told her that I would have been back already had she not been 15 minutes late in the first place. I did not get an apology but she did promise me that she will wait for me if I could make it back by 3:30. It was 3:18 then A part of me knew that she was lying through her teeth and I do not know why I followed through with my end of the commitment. I knew then from her flippant attitude that she was not going to treat my puppy well. In addition, I would not be able to accompany her during this COVID19 environment, which made me even more uneasy. I guess I just wanted to believe in the better part of people, and that the ones that work with dogs would be more likely to be compassionate, so I committed to retrieving that paperwork I did make it back and, as I had expected, Amanda's zealous commitment to her lunch was just too strong. Another employee apologetically explained that Amanda had left a while ago and would not be back for another 30 minutes. Amanda never had any intention of keeping her promise. There would be no other available appointments until late next week but that no longer mattered because I will never be going back again Readers, never leave home without your paperwork. This location has never been spectacular or even above average. Staffing is either too much or too little and associates are focused more on tasks than service. Front end doesn't flex for peaks, and employees are generally disinterested to get people through the line faster. read more

As my dad says, pets can be encapsulated into two words: liability and expense. Sure, they have other fine qualities, but essentially-- this is all they are from a pragmatic standpoint. Petsmart leverages both of these notions to not only make profits, but serve the hopeful pet owner and all of his glory. There is a ridiculous and probably sinful variety of foods for just dogs and cats alone at this location. For some reason, I can never get past the whole idea that there are children starving in other parts of the world, while I plunking down 60 bucks for a big bag of kibble. Since we have adorned our refrigerator with pictures of our "adopted" kids in Third World countries, I guess I can live with that. A couple of years ago, my wife's cousin talked us into taking in their Pomeranian. He has some kind of grain allergy, and a chip on his shoulder the size of the Titanic. If he could talk, I imagine he would sound like a nagging Yenta grandmother, constantly berating me for all of my misinformed decisions and bad choices in life. He looks at me with a kind of scorn you would only expect from in-laws who never really liked you in the first place. But despite all that, we buy him a second kind of dog food that doesn't have any grain in it. I don't know how dog survived in nature for all of these millions of years with grain allergies, but apparently it's a good thing that now we can address this issue head-on, and maybe make the planet a happier place for small 8 pound dogs that look like stuffed animals with pulses and judgemental dispositions. Attractive women smile at me when I walk him through the store or take him there to get trimmed, so I guess it's not all bad. Our other dog is a lumbering pitbull/shepherd mix. She is 80 pounds of absolute sweetness , that has been infused with habanero and lightning. I'm pretty sure that she would be happy living on a steady diet of crayons and kids toys, but for a five-month-old puppy that weighs 80 pounds, nothing but the best.... Another three Andy Jacksons, and we walked out of there with 120 pounds of kibble for two dogs. I like pets, and I like our dogs, several snakes, our cat that refuses to run away.... Petsmart has something for all of these creatures, although they don't sell live mice, and our little rosy boa refuses to eat frozen thawed. In the end, our kids are probably better for having the responsibility of pets... And my wife and I are probably better parents for supplementing their youthful care of our furry and slithering creatures in the house. read more

Extremely disappointed with the grooming department. We've taken our Standard Schnauzer about 5 times now. The first 3 times we had no problems. For those that don't know pepper & salt schnauzers have black & white hair in their beard (softer white hair with courser black hair on top). The fourth time we took her to Petsmart for grooming it looked like they "accidentally" shaved off part of the black hair on one side of her face! Of course I didn't notice until I got home! I decided to give them the benefit of the doubt & try again. I specifically told the guy to "leave her beard alone"! And showed him what they did wrong last time (it was a woman last time). What did they do? Cut her beard short AND cut more of the black hair off. SO PISSED. NEVER TAKING HER FOR GROOMING AGAIN read more

My review is for the dog grooming services 5 stars for Carrie! Every time we have come in she has been super kind and helpful and takes her time to explain everything she's done or will be doing to our dog for grooming. He is always a little jittery going in but she calms him down because he knows who she is now. She is very thoughtful in taking care of his needs. I went in once to see a different guy like an idiot because it was an emergency grooming visit ( we wanted Buddy to look nice for out of town guests) and he did a terrible job. I went over the specific directions with him that Carrie usually remembers by heart because she has seen him so often and remembers and he brushed me off and left long hairs on his ears and only ground down one paw. ONE PAW!!? He claimed it was because Buddy wouldn't let him but Carrie never had that problem. I'm not gonna name the guy but shame on him. Carrie is great and I almost hesitate to share how awesome she is cause I don't want to share her but she deserves it! She's a wonderful groomer! read more

What happened PetSmart? When did you stop caring about your customers? I don't know where to start with this location as it recently went through a change of staff. From Managers to associates everyone seems new but hasn't made a difference in improving the customer service. This PetSmart use to have a female manager with blonde hair and a bad attitude, if you read other reviews you'll know who I'm talking about. Thankfully she's gone but if corporate doesn't train their associates or focus on customer service then what's the point in changing Managment and staff? Anyway, I use to bring my pup here for training with Szashe and we completed. We even signed up for intermediate, we had one class and suddenly our beloved trainer was on emergency leave. I could tell she was stressed and understood that she needed some time off but 3 months passed by and she never came back. Don't blame her, she was great. It's PetSmart that packs on the pressure. On to the grooming department, geez when did this become a teenage drama department? When you take your pet to get groomed the focus should be on your pet, it's important for the groomer to build a bond and trust with them. Well the last time I took my pooch in to get her nails trimmed it was nothing but nonsense talk between the groomers. Really! These aren't professional groomers but more like high school kids with attitude. It's also the last time I bring my baby here. It did not have option to book an appointment online. When we showed up, they told us they preferred appointments (call in) and would not take us because the groomer was booked. She said another groomer was coming in later in the afternoon, so might have availability later in the day. So I asked if we could make an appointment now. She says no, because she doesn't know when the groomer could fit us in. This is one of the larger Pet Smart locations that I've been to. The staff are super friendly and they're very helpful when looking for things. This location in particular had the Banfield pet hospital for all your vet needs. It's got ample parking and is located in a very nice shopping center so you can walk around while your pet is being seen. They also have pet adoptions on some Sundays! Maybe you could walk home with a new pet :). read more

I shop here all the time and frequently observe their animals interacting with one another. You can normally find me in the cat/bird/small animal aisles or in front of the small animal/bird cages. I have 3 cats, a guinea pig, and a dusky conure (small parrot). The staff is usually friendly. I've had some incidences w/a certain person who can't do simple math to make the correction to my bill. But aside from that the staff is friendly... some more than others. Parking: It can be a nightmare. Esp on weekends. Pricing:I'd say about normal. It's great when I receive my discount coupon. Twice a year I spend ~$200-300 each time stocking up on pet supplies. I do shop for pet supplies online to compare prices before I make my bi-annual purchase. It's convenient because it's close to my work and when I need things I can just pick it up. The store is clean [floors are cleaned daily]. They also have received new display cases for the birds/small animals. When I had a dog, he attended their doggy day camp. It looks fun, although can be overwhelming if your four legged friend has never been and suddenly when he enters like 20 dogs are trying to sniff him. Lol. He quickly warmed up and started playing with the other puppies/dogs there. They separate large and small dogs from each other. Grooming: Although I have never used their service, the groomer I frequently see and speak with is very kind and gentle. He loves animals and is always friendly towards furry customers. If I had a dog, I'd have him groomed here. It's nice you can take your vaccinated pooch inside. I have even seen large parrots and a goat in the store. They also have a cat adoption to the right side, towards the back of the store; between the restrooms and Banfield. On weekends there are cat adoptions and sometimes dog adoptions. Puppy/Dog training: Although I have never used this service, I know people who have. And they loved it. If you have any questions on training your puppy-even if it's just a simple question on potty training, they will be happy to help. You just need to catch them between classes. read more

I would like to give a shoutout to RYAN and ARMANDO. I had locked my dogs inside my car and when I asked them for help they dropped everything and helped me. Ryan was kind enough to try to open the lock of my car and Armando tried calling Triple A. Eventually I had to call the fire department to take over. They both did not leave me til my dogs were safe. I cannot begin to thank them for staying with me til it was over. They need to be rewarded for this, please. They made me love Petsmart even more and will definitely continue to support the brand because of the people you've trained. Please let them know how thankful I am! Isidro was very pleasant on the phone. We have had numerous problems with the doggie day camp since moving back from Spain in August, 2017. We discussed our issues with Mary Elizabeth Watson, the Doggie Day Camp manager and Ruby Conchas an employee - and felt that it was important to bring our concerns up the chain of command. Between 2011-2016, we brought out dog Lucas many times a week to the same Pasadena PetSmart facility and happy with the care provided. Since returning to the United States with a 7 month puppy in August, 2017, we have been dissatisfied being told by staff (Mary Elizabeth Watson) and others that it is difficult to deliver the same level of care due to poor staffing. We have twice picked up our dog with feces on him. Three out of the last 5 times, I have found our pup in a kennel rather than socializing with dogs. When asked - we where told he had a lot of energy - and "we did not have the staff to manage him". There is no fighting. I know for a fact that today our pup Bentley was in a kennel while under the care of Ruby Conchas for more than 30 minutes when I came to retrieve him today. I asked for a call should Bentley, our pup, be put in a kennel. This has not occurred. I know our puppy is very energetic but would prefer an honest self-assessment if PetSmart is not up to the challenge. This is a sad transition for PetSmart. I regret that I can no longer recommend PetSmart Pasadena to our friends. Sadly, we know many of your employees on a first name basis. I work in marketing, design, and branding and have every intention to assure that our social network circle does not experience the same unfortunate circumstance as we. Update: Head of customer care for PetSmart said that they would get back to us but has yet to do so. We will see if they contact us. They have emailed us to let us know that our complaint is being taken seriously. Now, we have enrolled Bentley into a smaller daycare near our home with more staff and better care and they seem to love him. So maybe this is a blessing in disguised. read more

Grooming Service. I took my 6 month old puppy, mini poodle, for third grooming service.The groomer Desiree A, gave poor customer service from the start. She did not show any patience towards my dog nor me trying to explain the haircut I wanted. I had asked for his usual hair cut but she was hesitant and automatically dismissing those options. The past two times were with someone else but I still trusted she knew what she was doing so I still continued with the service. It took longer than usual and when I went to pick up my dog, he looked horrible. His hair was all butchers and uneven. She gave me excuses that he was too anxious and hostile but, she did say that the past two times with his previous groomer, he did not leave any negative feedback towards my dog and, he did an excellent job. I came home and started seeing my dog act more hostile than usual. He kept licking himself which was something odd for him so I did a full analysis on his skin and I come to find an irritated area on his scrotum. I tried calling back but no one answered my several attempts. That was enough for me to never go back. I'll post his previous hair cut which came out very good done by Randolf. My one stop shop for all my animals- dogs, guinea pig, and parrot. I used to use their grooming services (they're good!) but when you have more than one dog it's easier just to call a mobile groomer and have someone come to you. They have rows and rows of every animals dreams from almost every brand of dog food to a bunch of guinea pig treats and parrot toys. Staff is helpful and friendly. I recently started doing online orders for in store pick up you save 5% and saves me from walking through the aisles and picking up more stuff I shouldn't be buying. Orders are typically ready extremely quickly. You walk in and press the orange button, which calls someone over to assist you. Whoever comes over will have you sign out your order and give you your order. You're in and out within 5 minutes. Sometimes other stores are cheaper (when it comes to dog items specifically like target) however since I come here for the other 2 animals I just get everything all at once for all of them. read more

DISGUSTING & QUITE SHOCKING how i was treated when i was solely attempting to do the right thing!! i rec a vm frm the Grooming Dept this morning regarding safety concerns of a dog in their possession. Clearly they called the wrong no. Given that im a pet owner, i attempted to call them back to make them aware of the mix up to ensure the pet owner is contacted to avoid this poor dog being left their and ignored... i would HOPE someone would do that for me!!... i called 4x and all 4x was hung up on... i opted to keep trying cuz i knew it was the right thing to do.. once i got thru to the store itself and explained to them what was happening, instead of an apology and empathy, i was given condescending feedback on how their "phones are spazzing"... UMMMMMMMMMMMMMM.... noooooo..... i could HEAR them pick up (hear talking amongst them) and then clearly HANG UP.... coming from customer service myself i try to be understanding and patient, within reason... u dont get to be upset with me because im frustrated! i have EVERY RIGHT TO BE..... this isnt even MY DOG OR SITUATION!! after holding and being bounced from dept to dept, i finally got in touch with grooming.. instead of understanding and BEING grateful for the call, i was met with the same tone and rushed off the phone with out a care... the lack of patience they displayed is concerning, i can only hope the pets are not getting the same treatment. The vm stated they couldnt groom the dog because it was trying to "BITE" them... at that moment it ALL made sense.. i know enough when dog lash out it usually due to fear, as dogs react to energy and trust..... i doubt a pet owner would willing leave an aggressive pet but rather Y'ALL stessed it out! .... Ruben always leaves our Coton de Tulear looking fabulous. As she has hair and not fur it's been difficult to find a qualified groomer who will not leave her looking like a poodle! AVOID!! shop small pet stores in the area for SUPERIOR products and customer service. Lost my receipt and unprofessional floor manager (the older female with with orange hair) gives me an incredibly hard time and run around trying to act like God. I had to pull up PetSmarts exchange policy on my phone, show them and school them on their own exchange policy. I would like corporate to get in touch with me, if not, I'll be calling soon - this behavior was inexcusable and uncalled for. All I wanted was an exchange for product of same price. This review is for the grooming salon only. I take my pug here. As you may know, pugs can be a handful when it comes to grooming. My Frankie is like my kid so I am always sad to leave him for anything. Left him here for a few hours recently to a bath, de-shedding, nail grinding and teeth brushing. They did a great job with him. I had never been able to hold him with out being left with hairs all over my clothes. 3 weeks later and he is just now starting to shed very little. I will bring him back soon for this treatment. read more

Love coming here because it is big and neat. It's much more lively here over the weekend. Many people bring their dogs too get food or adopt dogs or cats. during Christmas they have Santa claus here to take pictures with dogs. :) will continue to come here with my dog. read more
