Hello all Pet owners, Took our dog Lucy for a long overdue dental cleaning where i was impressed with how much cleaner her teeth truly were after. The super lady Jennifer (part of the new Ownership to best of my knowledge) did it manually and without anesthesia for a reasonable price compared to other places that do it with having to put your dog to a nap first. Thought that was good enough service and then the receptionist lady named Ji went ahead and advise they also did some complementary extra services including trimming her claws which deserved the tip i gave on top. BEWARE! This place went downhill extremely quickly over these past few months, and our dogs and cats suffered greatly. We had brought our dogs and cats here regularly for years. We first noticed it going downhill when we saw alarming redness on our dog's skin after her last two baths. We now realize a recent change in ownership clearly came with cheaper products and poor grooming techniques. After my dog's last bath, her skin was red and scabbing for weeks. Our cat had developed horrible knots the week after her bath at Shurcut, which included her usual brushing and deshedding. The knots were so bad that we could not even brush them out. We called to see if they could fix this and they told us to bring her over. THREE hours later, we called to see if she was ready yet, and the woman said they did not have time to brush her out because there were too many knots (so she sat in a crate the whole time for no reason). How long were they going to let our cat sit in a cage before calling to tell us this? We went to pick her up and they blamed the knots on us, saying we had to brush her more. After our years as loyal clients, they had the audacity to blame US. She has had a regular grooming routine for 4 years and this has never happened. I called 3 other groomers and explained the situation and they ALL said "Oh yeah, it is common knowledge that if you do not dry a long hair cat correctly, it will cause knotting." They always have a big smile and great customer service by making us feel like valued customers. They call me immediately when my dog is done so I can come pick her up quickly. I'm so glad I found this place. I wasn't sure at first because there aren't that many reviews on Yelp for them but come to find out it's because they've only been open since January 2022. I've been looking for a new dog grooming place for my two dogs because the last place I went to 'chop shopped' my poor Tyler's double coat when I told her not to trim his coat at all and then she charged me for it! Anyway, back to Shurcut, Joy who works at the front was such a pleasure to talk to, welcoming, friendly, communicative and even sent me photos of my Bowie when he was done. The groomer who was also named Joy did an excellent job of bathing, cutting, nail trimming and even gave them both a cute bandana! It was a little more expensive than I had anticipated because Tyler has a double coat so he's more work but I thought it was worth it. After they were both done, Joy was so sweet and came out to give me two See's Candies lollipops for mother's day since I'm a fur mommy. :) read more

Untrustworthy. So disgusted with this business. My girlfriends mom brought my 14 year old Pomchi in for a tiddy and they shaved him! He's had his beautiful coat his whole life and they decided amongst themselves to do this when this was not requested at all! Really bad. We've been bringing our dog here for years. The original owners were great and my dog looked forward to his visits and welcomed the groomers like family. Now after at least one change of ownership, things are really bad. My dog is terrified of the place, the grooming is poor, and prices are about 30% higher. In response to Laura G. First of all, you are 100% right I came in there in a bad mood. I was given a time frame which lapsed and the dog still wasn't close to being finished. There was no misunderstanding about the time frame. I was told two hours, plain and simple. I still waited three and a half hours to call to check. When I was told he had not even started his cut, I was upset. When I came to see my dog caged up (when I was specifically told he wouldn't be), I became furious. See that's what you can expect to get when someone expects their dog in two hours, only to find the job halfway done in three and a half hours: an angry customer. It's very important to me to not have my dog caged up. Remember many pet owners treat their dogs as parts of their family and care about them as if they were their child, so this shouldn't be strange to you. You are in the dog grooming business after all. I'm a thief? Hardly. If you were at a restaurant and they took 90 minutes to bring your main course when it should've been 30, given that level of service, would you still pay for the Caesar salad? Think about that. I asked for a bath and a cut and you couldn't deliver your end of the deal. Bottom line, in this particular situation, you did not deliver. As a business owner, you have to learn to take the good with the bad. Do you really expect Yelpers to take it easy on you if they had a terrible experience like mine? I care about my dog as if it were a kid. Of course I was in a bad mood after having my dog caged up when I was specifically told he wouldn't be. If you don't understand why that matters to me, then you should get out of the dog business. Also, I find it curious that the same day you posted your response you got a glowing 5 star review that contradicts much of what I said. What a coincidence that it is that Yelpers very first review. I absolutely love Shurcut Pet Parlour! Lindsey and Andy are amazing. I take my cat "Cupcake" in to see them about every 6-8 weeks to get her nails trimmed. At times Cupcake is not the most pleasant client. But they are always so patient and loving with her. Kendall, the owner, is fantastic with our family dog. He has been our main (and only) groomer for over 6 years, at my best estimate. We've just been going to his sooo long. Just to give an idea how often we visit his pet parlour, our dog receives a weekly bath and monthly cut from his parlour. After trying so many groomers in the San Gabriel area, Shurcut is simply the best and the most professional. He always remembers little details or requests we make about the styling of the cut for our pet . He is very gentle with our pet's sensitive skin. He knows exactly how to cut and style each breed in the most flattering manner. In fact, I think he even works on show dogs. Another thing is I really like about him is his genuine concern for animals. Sometimes he notices things about our pet that even we overlook like our dog coughing in an unusual way and has alerted us about health signs. We take our labradoodle, Chewie, here and when they are finished with him he is the talk of the town! The service can't be beat. Everyone there is friendly and makes sure that we know how long it's going to take and if there are other dogs ahead of us. I was referred to this groomer about a year ago from a another dog owner who had a Mini Schnauzer. It's hard to find a groomer in this area that can do a good job with the cut. (I tried 5 different ones) I was skeptical at first because of the negative reviews here, but gave it a go because all the reviews were really old and I liked the cut on the Mini Schnauzer I saw. Since then, I have taken my dog in there about every 2 to 3 months and I couldn't imagine going to another place. I have a very skittish dog and they always seem to be able to get the job done even though I know how she is when I brush her out. When I bring my dog in, her hair is usually really matted on the legs and somehow she always seems to get stuff stuck in her beard or gets some funky mattes which are impossible for me to remove. But every time, I get her back and all the mattes are gone. (I went to one groomer where I felt the mattes weren't that bad and they suggested just shaving my dog because of the mattes. $40 for that? NO THANK YOU!) So I'm not sure what changes happened since this last negative review in 2011, but I can assure you I am happy with this groomer and thankfully I only have to drive 1 miles to get there :) read more

My dog Chewie is a large Labradoodle with long and really curly hair that needs a lot of attention. It's a hard job to keep him in good shape. These guys do an amazing job at taking care of his coat and making him look like a show dog. Even though is an all day project, they always accommodate us and work extra hard to provide the type of amazing service that no other groomers have ever given him. Receptionist is so rude I'm not even gonna bring my dog in -- the first time I called, I wanted to ask about the rate for my particular. The dude on the phone won't tell me how much it costs without some explanation for why I want to know. ---??? He acts like he doesn't have time to talk to me, and rushes me off the phone. The next time I called, it is the same brusque treatment. I told him (same person) that I wanted to set up an appointment. He talks to me as if he's very rushed, and asks if he can put me on hold. Then the line goes dead. Rude AND unprofessional. I don't have time for this, I'll be taking my dog someplace else for grooming. I realize it's probably a harried line of business to be in, but these folks need to learn some customer appreciation. read more

I have been bringing my dog and cat to Shurcut for the past 2 years and have been nothing but pleased with their service! I have a Persian cat who can be difficult to deal with and they never complain about having to groom her. I've always had trouble finding a place that will give my cat a nice cut and bath without giving me gripe about how hard it is to groom cats.
