If I could give them more than 10 stars, I would! This is a sweet family owned business and the owners are honestly the nicest people. Prices are super reasonable and they always do such a great job with my 15 lb maltipoo. I've tried other groomers before and paid way more, but his belly was never fully shaved or cleaned up. I even tried grooming him myself during the pandemic, and it was impossible he would never let me touch his belly since it's so sensitive. But this grooming spot gets everything perfect every time! Between his toes, his belly, ears, even around his butt. He always comes back looking so clean and cute. I can't thank them enough! Parking is easy to find, there's street parking and always available every time I come to drop off my pups for a grooming service. Since COVID-19, they offer curbside pickup for your pup so that you don't need to go inside the store. Pricing is reasonable for wash and cut and they give your pup a nice treat bag at the end of the service, which is nice! read more

The definition of local business, this pet grooming spot is run by the sweetest family and you can tell they take pride in how your pet looks and their hard work. Making an appointment requires a phone call and usually they can tell you if there is availability for that day and how long it'll take for them to beautify your furry friend. Prices depend on your pet's size and what other services you'd like but their prices are more than fair especially considering the great job they do. The most considerate gesture about First-Col however, is when you're ready to pick up your Westminster Best In Show Pet, they give you and your pup a little goody bag as a thank you for being a First-Col customer. I'm updating after having several visits to these folks. While my 13yr old only goes for his nails, his hesitation is normal and I don't count it against them. However, my 6yr old, Samson, has had several haircuts and the last three times he's come home nervous and jumpy. He also doesn't want to go inside the shop anymore. The last time, Samson's fur had a LOT of leave-in conditioner in it and I told them about it but they "saved" his shaved fur to "show" me because it "wasn't up to standard." It was just conditioner. My dog has a double coat and combing him is difficult, I'm sure I miss spots underneath, but when my dog spends days twitching and shivering when he gets home, I'm not going back anymore. They are polite and very nice and I've never seen them mistreat any of the dogs there. read more

My favourite place for my fur babies. I have 2 mixed husky and samoyed dogs, they're medium size with lots of fur. During summer time is their shed season, I usually take them there to do a haircut and wash. Now they only do 1 way to do the cut, which is shave them short, some people might not like it that way, but it works for me. Very humble and nice mom and son, only 2 of them works there, so usually I made an appointment first, drop them off in the morning and be ready around 4.30-5.00pm . My girlfriend took Charlie, her 5 year old Shih-Tzu to a lot of different groomers including a Petsmart in Fullerton. The last time we took him there, a few hours after she dropped him off, the Petsmart people called her saying they were too busy to groom him that day. When she went to pick him up, he was shivering in a small kennel with multiple other dogs scared and covered in urine. They gave her a free certificate but every time she brought Charlie back, he growled at the groomers and wouldn't let them touch him. He was traumatized. We had taken Charlie to First-Col before and he liked her. We called the groomer, who's a really nice lady, warned her about his recent experience and asked her if she could be extra gentle. Immediately after we brought him in, she carried him in her arms petted him and comforted him. He was shaking from being nervous but she was able to calm him down. We stayed there for the grooming and by the time she was done with Charlie he was licking her neck and almost didn't want to come home. You can tell she really cares about the animals and won't hurt the dog like other places do (we've noticed razor burns from other places we've been to). Their prices have gone up a little but we don't take Charlie to any other place. read more

I've been coming here for quite a while now, they're always friendly and have same day appointment. I called at 11 am today and they fit me in the same day! My dog always come back looking exactly what I asked for, and they always give a little treat bag to take home with! Price is normally $35 but I don't brush my dog that often (lazy) and they do charge a few more dollars if the hair is super matted. Last time they charged extra $5 coz his hair was crazy matted and today he only charged extra $3. Overall price isn't too bad compare to other groomers around this area. I was referred to this place by my co worker and I could not be more happy. The owner (I apologize I never got her name) she took great care of my babies Zooey (pom) and Lilo (Maltese). They both have never been to the groomers before. I always just trimmed their coat at home. But this year my dad decided he wanted them to get a nice haircut for Lunar New Year. So, I looked up pom and Maltese haircuts because I didn't have in mind what I wanted my girls to look like. I showed her the picture once and she got it right! My girls have never looked cuter than when they were puppies. Their haircuts make them look like puppies again and I love it!!! And.... When I picked them up she have me a little Ziploc one for each of them with treats inside and they enjoyed them on the ride home. The place is clean and nice. My babies came in happy and left happy. While their prices seem reasonable/affordable in the beginning, they start to increase their prices by blaming your pets behavior. When I questioned the lady about a $10 increase, she became offended and told me that I could take my dog to another salon. I was shocked at her response. They also seem to know only 1 way to cut a dog's hair - which is to shave it. I never minded this, but there were times where i noticed skin irritation and redness around my dog's eyes. Unfortunately, I can not recommend this place and I will not go back. read more

I have been coming here for years and it has always been a pleasure bringing my schnauzer here for a haircut even though I have to make quite a drive to take her here. There's a reason I keep coming back - my schnauzer loves it. It's hard to find a groomer where she wouldn't bark like crazy when we leave her for a haircut. First col was the first and we have been coming back ever since. The prices are very reasonable and they work with you get the look you want for your doggie. We have tried the traditional cut at several occasions, but we usually go with the teddy cut. I like how they are only a block away from the dog park so we usually bring our dog to have some fun after her grooming. My oldest and biggest dog Teddy, he's a golden retriever/German Shepherd mix which requires a complete shaved down 2-3 times a year which jumps in the pool the second he gets home (sigh). 2nd dog wrinkle is a yellow lab which only requires a simple wash and our last but not least our 3rd dog mochi is a Maltese mix. This place usually accommodate to our needs and price wise is affordable compared to other places. Usually our total for all 3 dogs will be around $150-160 definitely reasonable and affordable!
