I don't have a pet, but I do have lots of friends who have pets. This PetSmart is my go-to when I have a need for pet treats. Bring your dog to work day? I'm the coworker with the freeze-dried liver. Cat sitting? I've got some freeze-dried chicken for your little fluffernutter. This location is ultra-convenient (near Costco, Home Depot, Office Depot, and a ton of other useful shops), full of friendly and helpful staff, and a good bet for good prices. The selection is also awesome. I also love that thanks to the grooming and training services offered in-house, you can often find furry friends to greet (after checking with mom or dad, of course). I also love to admire the cats up for adoption--there are usually at least a couple hanging out. It gives you a dose of "aww." read more

I went into the Saint Louis Park, MN store to purchase a new food for my dog as I couldn't wait for Chewy to deliver. Mind you, I knew it was on sale, I looked online before I went. The cashier rang it up along with other items and it rang up at $83.99, I said, that is on sale for like $57 or $67, when she came back, she said that is for the 15 lb bag, would you like me to take it off, I said no. I get out to my vehicle and look online, the 30 lb bag I bought for $83.99 is on sale for $67.19. I went back into the store with my phone and go to the same cashier, show her my phone and ask... I have to order online to get the sale price?? She responded with yes, you order online and the order will be ready in 2 hours for you to pick up. Did she forget this when I originally bought the item at $83.99. I asked, you can't adjust the price, she said no, I told her I will be returning the food, I had to go get the bag out of my vehicle and when I returned to the store, the manager was there, he never said a word to me, he approved the return and left to a shelf close to the register pretending to be busy. I went out to my vehicle and ordered the food, it was ready in 15 minutes, I went in to the same girl, she was rude even more so than she was originally. If I didn't need the food, I wouldn't have purchased it and the other items will be returned tomorrow and I will never purchase from Petsmart unless absolutely necessary. Manager's should have the ability to adjust pricing. Absolutely ridiculous!! The review should have zero star's. read more

My roommate has a tiny teacup Yorkie and brought her to Pet smart for grooming on 3/19. She came home and she limped on her back right paw for two days and appeared ill enough not to want to go outside or eat. I'm not sure what happened and the groomer did not say anything, but perhaps they cut her nail too close to the toes, which can happen. You have to tell your customers if you injure their dog while grooming them! What if she had gotten an infection? You guys are also associated with Banfield and you should know better. On top of it all, it's a terrible haircut. While we wanted it short, it's extremely patchy. I've attached a photo of her right when she came home and you can tell that she is not feeling well in the photo. I hope management sees this and talks to the groomer. I brought my Havanese in for a bath and trim tonight, and honestly I was shocked at how awful his cut turned out. There was absolutely no effort to blend his face trim - rather they hacked off the top and ruined his entire look. Will never take my dog here for grooming again. They cut our dog behind his ears with the razor and did not inform us, we had to find it the next day. You can clearly see the abrasions are from clippers because all the hair is shaved down in these spots and you can see the straight lines from the clippers. I scheduled an appt to obtain a manicure for my cat. I informed the staffperson that o needed to be put at 230 i had to be on time for another errand. She said it would not be a problem. I arrived at the scheduled time and they said ithat she was behind and it would be awhile, 10 or 15mn, which would haveade me late for the other appt. Accommodating his joint issues and offering us front of the line when we got there -he can't stand for more that 10 min)- I had called before we were arriving just to see how the line was, rugs etc. etc. When we arrived, (I did not know she had done this- so amazing!:) she had graciously explained to the other guests that we were coming in and our situation, and the people waiting in line were so gracious, nice and supportive as he jumped the line to the front - We walked in to so many sweet Ohhh and awwws - I thought I'd need a bigger collar for Fuzzy because his head got so big! I buy Max's supplies from PetSmart. His favorite treats can be found here, along with his food. The workers are helpful and go out of their way to make sure you've all your questions answered. They've everything you could possibly need for your pets- shampoo, dental care, flea prevention, training, beds, etc. They even have some great sales from time to time! I got sweaters and jackets for a few bucks a piece before. There is a variety of food if you've a sensitive pet as the natural and grain free selection is vast. Grooming, however, is hit or miss. Maybe I just really hate them giving my ewok a proper pup cut. Onto that... Grooming seems to take quite a bit of time. I inquired about it once and was told that it depends on the drying time. I've been given an estimate of three hours each time we've visited. It usually takes that long. They call once they're through. Make sure you are specific if you want a certain cut because I dropped my dog off once and they asked if I wanted the same cut as before and he was made to look like a poodle. I think maybe that's his default, but the last time he was in, it was cut real short. Anyway, just make sure the groomer knows what you want so you won't be disappointed. The groomer injured my dog! Please do not bring your dog to the groomers here. I brought my dog in for a nail clipping and bath. Picked him up 3 hours later when they called and 2 nails were ripped off. THEY had to bring him over to the vet because of the amount of blood. When I got there, I saw the bloody trail all the way to the vets office attached. No one could tell me what happened. They had to sedate him and he had to wear a cast for a while after. I asked to see the footage and they refused to show me. The nails were ripped off so bad, a month later when we walk outside he still bleeds. No one could tell me what happened and the groomers did not look me in the eye once and barely would speak to me. Never apologized or even offered a word of care for my dog. We were able to largely ignore Black Friday as we picked up Charlotte from her month-long obedience training today at Neuman K-9 down in St Peter (fabulous, btw, review to follow shortly). Needless to say, this normally clean and soft beauty was filthy and we wanted to have her bathed before we brought her in to our nicely vacuumed and now relatively dog hair free home. So we used that great google 411 number, rang up Petsmart and made a reservation as we drove home. She'd never been groomed there before (we typically do her bathing ourselves), and she needed proof of rabies vaccination (which we didn't have handy). They offered to call out vet for us. Appreciated that. Arrived about an hour later, all psyched that we smart enough and able to outsource this. We get her registered, signed her up for a nail clipping, and were all set to release her until they said, OK, come back in 3 hours. We think: What? 3 hours? What the hell for? She's a lab, so there's no cutting/trimming or styling involved. I mean that rare blue moon that I get my hair cut and colored doesn't even take that long and I have a shitload of hair that ends up being blown out and styled! We looked at each other and said, Ugh, what happens to her for 3 hours? She's washed, ears are cleaned, nails are trimmed, and then they need to make sure she's dried fully. Ugh, what do they dry her with, one of those personal hand-held fans? We didn't think our slightly traumatized baby could handle being dropped off at another random place for such a period of time just after we picked her up after not seeing her for a month, so we politely excused ourselves and left. Brought her home, bathed her, cleaned her ears, and trimmed her nails AND dried her in under 45 minutes. Sometimes it's just easier doing it yourself. read more

We have two pet parakeets that we purchased from a home breeder, but we buy all of their supplies here at this Petsmart as it is in a convenient location for me. They have a wide variety of bird toys, food, and supplies. However - the parakeets here at the store always look really, off. Maybe they just always have birds that are molting but they always look really rough and scruffy. I am not an expert by any means but I would not buy a parakeet from here. They seem comfortable around people but just look rough and not healthy. This location is really flexible with returns though which I really appreciate. We have picky birds and we love the return policy. read more

The five star is just for the grooming salon. We found Amanda in the last 2 years to groom our dogs. She's always so friendly and does exactly what we ask. It has been hard for us to find a groomer that understands how special our dogs are to us. We have gone to very high end groomers and have spent hundreds at a time on grooming services and our dog comes home not looking so good. My dogs come home with patches of razer burns and it is red and hurts them. She is very meticulous on the length and the look. She makes sure she doesn't irritate our dogs' skin. They are super happy when they come home. No random razer burns. We absolutely love her and will not go anywhere else. The Banfield pet hospital is awful on the other hand. I will never come back. I had two very bad experiences here. One time they had one of my dogs for a few hours for testing and I took her home and she had bruises all over. No one bothered to let me know. The second time, my husband brought my dogs back here on accident because it was the only Banfield open for an annual and didn't consult me. He picked up my dogs and one of them was limping and barely could move. He cried all night. It took 2 days for him to be normal again. They also had bandages and once again large bruises on them from testing. I've always taken them to Banfield in the quarry and have never had this happen. I will never let this place touch my dogs. So take them to Amanda in grooming but do not go to Banfield pet hospital here. read more

I like Petsmart. As a pet owner, I usually have to choose between Petsmart or Petco. Each "department store for pets" has their good (and bad) qualities, but typically, I chose to visit Petsmart. This particular Petsmart is "my" location, as it is the closest to my home. However, I like coming here...and so do my dogs... They have amazing clearance bins, an adequate selection of collars & leashes, any kind of treat or toy your dog could imagine, but they don't carry my dog food...so I shop elsewhere for that. The people who work here are forced to be nice...so they are...and I like that there is always someone willing to help me find what I need...and there is always a register open & a smiling face willing to accept my money. Sometimes my dog/s will get a treat from the cashier...sometimes they do not... What I like best about Petsmart is the fact that you can ADOPT a pet while in their store. They have adoption days with various rescue groups & on top of that, there are always a bunch cats to choose from in their "Luv-A-Pet" area...it's a pretty cool thing, in my book... read more

Stopped by this weekend to buy equipment for a new aquarium and choose a few new fish to enjoy it. On first inspection the store was a pretty decent size with a great choice of fish and different products to cover any need I had. I managed to find a good selection of products to choose from too rather than just having to go with whatever they had. There was plenty of staff available to speak to which was good as they gave me plenty of good advice and didn't hassle me when I just wanted to browse at first. After choosing everything I wanted and getting my fish I paid and a sales person managed to persuade me to buy another product for my tank. I'm not an expert so can't say whether or not I actually needed this product but I definitely feel as though they were just trying to get that extra sale. I was also told that if I had any problems with my fish during the first 14 days to bring them back and get a refund or exchange. Inevitably I had all but 2 fish die within the first day so took them back the following day only to be told that they don't allow refunds or exchanged on fish being put into a new aquarium by the same sales person who told me they would the day before! Aside from this annoying confusion and misinformation, this store was a good place to shop. read more

I stop by here often because of the location close to home, but about 2 -3 weeks ago I went there and got 10 feeder fish/ the cheap 14cent or less , this should have been a RED flag, some fish were swimming lower on the bottom like they were struggling. Another red flag : the water was a bit cloudy Red flag : a few were dead . But going against my better judgement (after all it's just feeders right ..) I bought like 10 of them , mix rosey and gold .. less then 24 hours most are dead, and the next dad more death, not even 3 days and all dead and water stink (I remove the dead ones and change water 3 times . Next time I'll think twice before buying stuffs from here . (By the way went out and bought some from Petco, it's been 2 weeks , still all alive , not a single death !) read more

This location's grooming area leaves a lot to be desired. I've booked baths for my 11lb. dog several times at PetSmart locations between here and Los Angeles. It has never taken longer than one hour. I made an appointment and the approximate time listed online was one hour. I arrived here and checked my Dog in and agreed to the serves to be told that it would take 3.5 hours! At first I thought I misheard Cynthia, but that's the estimate she provided me. This place either has some serious staffing issues, or they need to seriously reevaluate the time estimation when booking online. Pretty disappointed. The extra star is for a good selection of pet merchandise and location. I won't be using the grooming area ever again however. read more

Very nice helpful folks here. We took up a whole aisle (practically) trying to figure out the best dog food for our baby. The stuff we used to feed used to be premium, but the company changed its recipe & now it's sub par. The other Kind shopper & a very helpful sales associate helped us make an informed decision. & also told us about other options. Of course, pet friendly! Off towards the Home Depot there is a spot of grass so your Spot can find a spot. Lots of geese to chase at the retention pond there. Even spotted a duck once. read more

When I went to the store, they had me waiting for almost an hour as I watched a worker stab boxes rather than be bothered to help me. I'm a PetSmart customer in general, but this was the first time I've visited this location and the first time I've used PetSmart grooming service. I usually use a local groomer but was really hoping to get my dog in somewhere on short notice. Let me first say that this location is no fun to get in and out of. The West End area is always busy, but the street and parking area around Costco is just not well designed. So, just plan for a couple of extra minutes to park. I was impressed - and a bit surprised - by the questions at intake. I've used several groomers and this is the first time I've answered so many questions. Some were clearly upsell (um no I don't her ears pink) but others were pretty relevant (how much fluff do I want on her legs). The service took 3 hours, which is long but exactly as promised. The extra time was kinda nice, since I was able to get other stuff done before pickup. When it was all done, my dog looked beautiful. Kristen did a great job brushing her out and I was glad someone else brushed her teeth for me. Her nails were trim but unfortunately not filed, so they were very sharp until we went for a long walk. All in all, PetSmart grooming was reasonably priced and a decent experience. I was kind of freaked out trusting my dog to a chain groomer, but they did a nice job. I'll probably use them again when I need a service and don't have time to wait a week or more for a grooming appointment. read more

I've taken my dog to this groomers plenty of times. Without fail, every single time they have not done everything that I've paid for. I choose the "PAWdicure" option, which is supposed to include 1) Nail trim & grind 2) Light feet trim & pad shaving 3) Ear cleaning & hair removal 4) Scented cologne spritz & 5) Bandana or bow. Every time when I ask for a PAWdicure, they confirm "so a nail trim & grind?", which is confusing as this is ALWAYS supposed to include both. I answer yes, and make sure to go over everything else that's included and say I want that as well. I honestly don't even think they trim my dogs nails before grinding them because they are always still extremely long compared to when I've taken my dog any other place. Since I get them done once a month, this should not be happening. I appreciate them not getting down to the quick of the nail, but they are not even close. This is the third time that they forgot to clean the ears as well. I find it ridiculous that I feel the need to do a "once over" to make sure that they did everything every single time she's there. It is awkward needing to confront adults, when you just got done going over what you paid for, and they "forget" or choose not to do the whole package 5 minutes after speaking with them. If it happens every time, I can't help but think they're choosing to skip steps, and this is also my thought when I still tip them 20% and they seem reluctant to take it, almost as if they feel guilty since they know they didn't do the job. read more

I have mixed feelings about this petsmart.. they definitely treat their animals better than the petsmart in Plymouth, but at the same time I feel like petsmarts are too lazy and cheap to be checking up on their animals. my boyfriend and I bought a baby chinchilla here, within a few days he got terribly sick. not trusting the vets that work with petsmart we took him into see the chinchilla experts at Hopkins pet hospital (highly recommend). she informed us that he had a neurological disorder (which means he was mistreated and under nourished for the past few weeks) as well, he had ear infections. Only having him for 3 days, it was obvious that petsmart was the reason for this. as well, the vet said he definitely was too young (under 2 months) to be adopted to begin with. it makes me question if petsmarts just gets their chinchillas and other small animals from pet mills. so sad. read more

I adopted my cat, Frank, a couple months ago and had bad experiences bathing him and cutting his nails (he's 7 and stuck in his ways) so I brought him to PetSmart. It was such a good experience and Frank looks so good! Brianna did such a good job and gave a recommendation for the next time to help with his undercoat, which I really appreciate. I was at work and couldn't pick him up right away, but they had no issue with Frank hanging out for a couple hours until I could get over there to bring him home. I will definitely be bringing my cat back and would recommend them to anyone! read more

The grooming department here is absolutely amazing! I brought my little Teddy in yesterday for a haircut and Laura was so understanding about what we wanted, she listened well and she definitely delivered a wonderful service!! Teddy is a Pomeranian and I know their hair can be tough to deal with, but she nailed it! I highly recommend bringing pets here for grooming/other services! Would give this place zero stars for the grooming department if I could. Came in to pick up my puppy a little early one time. It was the second time I had taken her in to get groomed. I told them my pup had a little bit separation anxiety but was super sensitive with her paws so it was hard for me to clip her nails which is why I was taking her in. Apologized in advance but I figured - these people are professionals - she'll be okay in their hands. Nope. Walked in to the lady hitting my 5 month old puppy in the face, screaming at her, and then putting a muzzle on her. My pup looked scared to death. Never taking her there again. I now go to a nice place when I visit my mom and they are amazing and my dog loves them - so maybe my dog was difficult but that is no way to treat a puppy!! read more

I received a grant to have fish in my classroom through Petsmart and I wanted to check out a couple of stores before i bought anything. All I know is that when I arrived there were two employees working in the fish area, but by the time I was ready to buy they were no where to be found. I asked for support, and there was an all-call sent out, but after 5 more minutes passed with no sign of help (even though there were 3 other families waiting) I decided to leave. I don't expect expertise, but it would have been nice to have someone there to sell me the merchandise. read more

After using the same groomer for 6 years they closed up shop. I never plan ahead for grooming and as usual was in a rush to get my dog in. Petsmart was able to take my dog the next day. She is a Westie and I don't like the typical cut. For 6 years I tried to get the groomer to understand the look I was going for, although they did a nice job they never quite got it. When I picked my dog up after her first grooming at Petsmart I was so exited to see they understood the look I was going for.
