PETSMART is not smart. I had a grooming appointment for which I waited weeks to get. I get that - they must be busy. We traumatize our dog for the car ride and the pending experience to be groomed. She's been there many times and does well, so we comforted her and knew she'd look adorable when done. We wait and wait to get in for our appointed time. We wait. A long line is there. Okay - busy. Finally, we enter the salon. I tell them what type of cut and style I want for our little girl. They say "okay, I'll get Israel to come out." Wait. Then out comes the groomer Israel. He checks over our little girl. I tell him what I want in a cut/style. He says she needs special treatments - I say, no, I just want the basic bath and then style we've always had - nothing fancy. Then he says "oh she has some mats - that will take an extra 15 minutes." "What??? No one every said that about her care before! It's always been included." Him: "She needs extra work." "What do you do if we don't pay that?" "We just blow her dry." "That's it?" Yep. Then he said she needs her nails grinded. I said I thought that was included (it always WAS!) No, grinding is different, he says. I ask, finally, "what are you talking about? What is the cost of all this?" It came to $91. $91 !!!! I say, completely shocked!!! "We have NEVER paid that much for her here!" I don't want all the extras. Just a bath and the cut she usually gets. $91 he says. Husband is with me who is now FURIOUS with the PUSHY selling this groomer is doing. Our dog is a miniature dachshund - pretty darned tiny and we have never paid over $50 with extras included - but the usual has been around $40. I tell the groomer that. He doesn't budge. Husband is more angry. Done!!! I told him to keep his high prices and we're done here. We then go to PETCO and schedule her for an appointment there! $48. Period. We'll never go back to PETSMART - ever. read more

I took Chinook to the PetSmart groomer at 11am today, he's been there several times before. When I walked in he was barking, and wagging his tail because there were little dogs barking at him. Chinook wasn't acting aggressive, just big in size. The "new" grooming manager Angel said and I quote " has he been here before, because I'm the new manager here, and I don't like how things have been ran in the past, and if he keeps barking thats aggressive behavior". I responded and told Angel jerk that Chinook has come in many times before and does the basic training also with PetSmart. Angel responded and said " just know if he keeps this up, you will need to come back immediately". To make a long story, short Danielle the groomer, took Chinook back in the kettle, leaving the swinging door opened. Danielle came back to the counter, and started asking me questions. Chinook started barking because the little dogs were barking in the kettle area. That Angel guy took the side of his shoe, and kicked the gate where Chinook was. I won't be returning to the groomer there. I've called corporate, and they have cameras thank goodness. It was a horrible experience. Don't go there.... PetSmart Menifee off of Haun street. In just the last month, I've spent 357.00 at PetSmart. Each month I spend average of 122.00 I have proof through my Wells Fargo acct. May not seem like much but if people don't like the dog barking at a dog place than the person that doesn't like it shouldn't be around animals....they bark,they talk. Took My Terrier to get cut. They shaved him except his tail. He looks CRAZY. Without asking. My daughter picked him up and all they gave her was a letter that said dogs with matted hair, and the dangers of shaving??? If you own a Cairn terrier you know there hair is coarse and nappy. I would like to leave a review for Israel, I really appreciate the patience he's has for my giant schnauzer, Israel really takes the time to deal with my dog, my dog isn't the easiest to deal with at all, he gets very anxious and has a lot of energy. This is the second time we have tried to give this place a try, always a issue. Made appointment for grooming- shampoo, cut, nails and ears. Show up and was told they could only shampoo and blow dry?! Last time they wouldn't except the vaccinations off my phone. So I can't tell you if the cut is good or not, we've never able to get past the desk. read more

The older gentleman at the checkout counter is quite the conversationalist but makes you feel comfortable in the store. Whoa 180! My initial review of this grooming salon was nothing short of a nightmare. However, I gave it another try considering it has been four years since then. I am not only relieved at the change, but I am impressed at the entire new round of staff who are pup-cuddlers disguised as groomers! Every time I've taken my dog for a grooming I've been impressed. The groomers are all very experienced and are pleasant to deal with. It is a pleasure bringing my Yorkie in. Also, the sale staff is very helpful. There have been multiple occasions when they spent a lot of time explaining food and other products to me. HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE!!! They canceled my appointment 2 times!!! The first time I had to re-scheduled and push my appointment a week later. The second time they called me 30 minutes before my appointment saying that they can't take my dog based on OLD notes from an inefficient groomer. They last time my dog went I had no problems! The groomer gave me an excellent feedback!! I made sure that I scheduled my appointment with the same groomer. Both appointment cancelled, one because the groomer I chose it was not going to be there and the second time looks like was the same thing and then they just used the excuse about the old notes. I went a day before by mistake thinking that my appointment was that day and the people checking in were with a nasty attitude. I know I had the wrong day but the whole customer service experience was not pleasant. They looked at me with such annoying face. I am not taking my dogs here anymore!!! Even though I walked in 20 minutes before closing the employees were attentive and acknowledged me right away and helped me out. DON'T COME HERE FOR DOG GROOMS, specially if you have dogs with hair that needs to be cut!! They absolutely don't listen to what you want. I told them what clip size to use on my dog & said summer cut, and my dog came out fluffy & uneven. Yes, they are friendly & nice .. then they try to tack on services you didn't ask for and bill you when you pick up your pup, even when you have refused other services in the beginning that they don't mention the price for. For example, "Do you want the nails to be grinded? Your dog's nails are black & hard to see." They have tools to tell you where the quick is in the nails. They also make it sound like it's part of the service since they make it seem like it's something they can't do normally. Frankly, the people that work here aren't trained well, including the manager. So they try to also charge you for special services without asking first. Usually, when a groomer can't handle a dog, they'll call to have you pick the dog up. RISA was groomer & ISRAEL was the grooming manager. I had told them my concerns but all they made were excuses. Pardon my rant but now I have to go look for another place and pay another $60ish for another groom. This place tried to charge me $92 for a 10lb that has never gotten complaints and only praises from other groomers saying he just closes his eyes and sleeps during his grooms. read more

Let me start by saying my one star review is not for the actual groomer. He was outstanding. My terrible review is for the drop off, pick up process for grooming at this PetSmart. That is one big gigantic fail. After reporting my experience to corporate, I was told I would get a call back from the store manager, which of course, has not happened. This time is actually the third time I have been less than satisfied, and it is all about how long it takes to drop off and pick up my dog. Suffice to say that the other two times I spent 1.5 hours, and 2.0 hours respectively, just waiting to drop her off, pay, and pick her up. The line for grooming at this location is past the actual door to the grooming area. Many customers walk directly into the grooming salon without noticing others waiting in line AND the grooming staff doesn't notice it either because they are too busy. When I mentioned this to the staff, they told me to try out curbside drop off and pick up, which I did. That, too, is a big fail! The information I was given ahead of time, when I booked the appointment was incorrect, even though I asked specifically for directions on their curbside service. I was told to just pull up my car to the front of the store and call their number to alert them of my arrival. I did just that and called. I was placed on hold for ten minutes, then back to original recording, then picked up by another employee, who also put me on hold, then back to the original recording, then disconnected. I called a second, third and fourth time, with the same outcome. I finally parked my car and took my dog inside. I was told that they were short-staffed (again) and that they were doing the best they can. I get that, BUT this is three for three! Sorry, I will not go back to PetSmart for grooming or anything else, for that matter. Add to that, this is the second time I asked for a call back from the store manager, I was assured I would get one, and of course I did not. It is no surprise to me that this particular part of their business is so disorganized and chaotic, when it is clear that the store manager has no time to return a phone call to a very dissatisfied customer. read more

I have taken my dog to Pet Smart for years, in Oceanside and Utah, I moved here recently and took my dog here for a nail trim. They were so terrible. The first groomer was struggling so much another one stepped in to help she got frustrated and squeezed my dogs leg to get his paws. They put a very tight leash around his neck it was so short he couldn't even sit down. The groomer asked me to step outside and not watch I thought that was suspicious. I want to seriously thank the grooming department for the above and beyond customer service. It was my puppies first time getting hair cut, they give their recommendations for puppies and forewarned me that puppies need to get used to the noise and getting clipped. Keshawn was my stylist and can we just say my puppy has never looked more amazing. I love that they call to let you know when they are stepping away and allowed me to cal and check on him. Been waiting to give my 11-year-old dog and nice quick bath. So I figured I'd come here and get it done. Oh no, of course another business short staffed so can't really help when needed. Asked twice for help because of their system malfunctioning. I couldn't even give my dog conditioner or the dryer. The first time the worker came over to help, she had an attitude and showed me to hit the start button. Well I was doing that many times over before she got there and it still didn't work and of course when she came,it did. It malfunctioned again and I had a witness saying that I couldn't stop it I asked a customer was walking by if they could get somebody to come over to help this time because my dog was going crazy it was hard to leave her. Nobody came. I finally just had to dry my dog as much as I could what's the towel to give you, and I walked up to the counter. The same lady who had the attitude, said you can use other tabs and he's like sorry we are understaffed. I need to get my dad home because she has her anxiety this was not a good experience and I believe we will not be coming back. read more

***REVIEW FOR GROOMING*** Overall, we've been very happy with our grooming experiences at this location since it has opened. We've probably used them close to a dozen times, and generally have always had good experiences. Our one negative experience was due to scheduling - they've had issues (in the past) with overbooking, and it just didn't go well. Besides some time management stuff, we really have been happy. The groomers are all very pleasant, and generally seem to care about the dogs. Christie (?) and a few others have groomed our dog a few times, and he generally always comes back happy. If they can keep up some generally consistent time management, and can continue to put together a quality groom, then I think this'll be a place that'll continue to do well. read more

This is a review for their grooming department: BEWARE OF THEIR LACK OF DOG HANDLING SKILLS. Brought my German shepherd puppy in for a puppy bath that I received a coupon for. This was the first time I took her to any establishment for grooming- before I had just groomed her at home and she's fantastic for me: She sits it the bathtub, let's me cut her nails, and dry her easily. Being her first time I asked the cashier who was very kind to call me if there is any issue and let me know how she responds to all aspects of her "puppy bath". When I returned 3 hours later I found a frightened, frantic dog. There were different groomers here and they rudely informed me if I did not train the aggression out of my dog she would not be allowed to return. My dog is NOT aggressive. So I asked if there were any trigger points, anything that scared her or how she reacted that they would deem her aggressive. I was just told : "In all aspects of the service". I was trying to understand where they were coming from because I strongly implement socialization and training from a young age and want to make sure I could correct any damage that was inflicted to my puppy by having a fear of grooming. I received no clear answer and the other groomer (not sure if a manager or just a coworker) came over and very rudely told me I need to work on my dog. I paid and couldn't get my puppy out of their fast enough, when I got my dog into the car I saw BLOOD on her front paw- The nail wasn't just clipped too short but it was cracked up the side, and her other front paw had another nail bleeding. PLEASE DON'T BRING YOUR DOGS HERE. They lack dog handling skills and care for animals, I would have happily picked up my puppy if they could not finish their service if she was acting in fear- instead of jacking up her nails and creating a fear that I'm going to have to work through. I'm very disappointed and regret ever taking my puppy to Pet Smart. read more
