I booked foe my dog to stay at the hotel, enjoy a session of play time and booked grooming . The grooming cancelled my appointment for grooming claiming they close at 5 when my appointment was at 4 . I told them my dog was in the hotel and they then apologized that they would not be able to service him. The 2 offices do not communicate . It was a lot of holding time and discrepancy's . Second they did not feed him as directed . The canned food was not even opened .I will not bring my dog here again . read more

I have been a PetSmart fan for quite some years now and I must say that I continue to go bring my dog back due to the love and care they show Violet (my dog) at the grooming salon. We have had quite a few different groomers through out the years but over all they have all been exceptional! My Violet feels safe and at the end always looks so good. I highly recommend! read more

Since I have two fur babies we are always frequenting the pet stores. Since my munchkin has a chewing problem we end up having to replace items like his bed and of course the toys as he can tear them to shreds in a matter of minutes. I came to get some new beds for the babies because the little one chewed it and pulled out all the stuffing. I like that they had the Kong beds on sale even though they won't last too long. Service here was pretty much non-existent as I saw no one in the entire store upon coming in this particular time. Even when I went to pay the registers were empty and I had to look around for someone to ring me up. Nevertheless I will be back to pick up more items. Sign up for their Petsperks rewards to get discounts and coupons, it's free! They also price match which also a plus, Parking is pretty easy if you come early! read more

Wow. Just...wow. The service at this Petsmart location perfectly illustrates how amazing the service at Centinela is. But, let's backtrack a second. The food and selection is not as good as Centinela, and seems quite Wal-marty. What can I say? Centinela has made me a dog food snob, and my pups are regular dog foodies now. Prices are okay if you can find something on sale. ...or if you have the Petsmart club card. You know, one of those free cards akin to the Ralphs card or something. So, I don't shop at Petsmart too often, which means amongst the 28 different club cards in my wallet, the Petsmart one isn't there... much to the chagrin of the sales the clerk. I go to check out, and of course get lured by some sort of impulse buy at the register and ask how much it costs as I'm checking out. She scans it and says, "It's on sale." "Okay...how much is -" "Do you have a club card" "No, I don't think so." BIGGEST EYE ROLL EVER IN THE HISTORY OF THE WORLD and then she says "Well, without the card is $7, but if you had the card it's $4." I reply, "Okay, can I sign up?" I was wrong, now THIS was the BIGGEST EYE ROLL EVER IN THE HISTORY OF THE UNIVERSE. And she tosses a card in the bag and says "Just bring it with you next time." Moral of the story, it must be tough working at Petsmart and, you know, doing you JOB. Sheesh. I'll never stray from you again, Centinela. read more

This review is geared toward the Pet Hotel. I took my dog (maltipoo) along with my mom's two dogs (maltipoo and german shepherd) to the pet hotel for a weekend stay. When I called the woman on the phone was very thorough and took her time asking me all the pertinent (and i'm sure, required) questions regarding the three dogs. Once she was done, she carefully instructed me on what I needed to do (paperwork) and documents that were required- updated shots: DHPP, Bordatella and Rabies. Just FYI- Bordatella has to have been given within the last six months. My mom brought the dogs to their stay. We received a report card on their visit and they had a great time staying there. The atrium rooms were a nice size (no boxes stacked on top of each other.. for dogs, anyway) and they were able to accommodate the three dogs together while they slept. This was a relief as I'm sure the two smaller ones would have been lonely sleeping alone. The price is decent- I spent about $100 on 2 nights with 3 days of doggie day camp. It would have been cheaper had I opted out of the day-camp but I couldn't fathom leaving my little boy in a box the whole time. Although they do take them out for walks and to use the bathroom, I knew he'd have a good time playing with the others. I would recommend this place to any one needing to leave their dogs while out of town (or, in town). read more

This is for their grooming services. Or, their refusal of grooming services. I had a very elderly (at the time, almost 18 years old) small Lhasa Apso, a point that I emphasized when I made the appointment to get him bathed. I had been to the Long Beach Town Center location before, so they had my dog's paperwork (proof of vaccinations, etc.) which they demanded before they would bath him on my first visit. (IMPO, a bit of overkill, but, okay, I'd go with it, and my vet faxed over what they wanted within minutes of my request.) I was the first client that week day, arriving very early (as we had arranged), and I again emphasized the age of my dog, and that I would want to be called 10 minutes before he was ready to go, so I could minimize his trauma, pay, and get him safely home ASAP. The rather rude girl behind the counter told me that she "had to check something out", and I waited for 15 minutes in an area without any seating (I am disabled, plus I was the only customer in the entire store at the time; why 15 minutes?) until another employee finally returned to announce that the store wouldn't accept my dog for bathing (no grooming involved) nor honor the appointment which I had made days earlier. "Why not?" I asked. "He's too old," was the blunt reply. "When I made the appointment, I told you how old he was, and at that time, I was not made aware of any age limitation policy. That policy is not posted anywhere in the store, nor on the official website. Why are you refusing to take him now?" "Please leave." "I'd like to speak to your manager." "Our manager made the decision," she said, and walked away, leaving me and my dog alone in the grooming area. I then went to another local groomer. (Rossmore Pets on Wardlow is an excellent facility, albeit pricey; however, many of their customers have been going to them for years, which is the best recommendation I know.) I suggest you avoid this facility: I even cut up my club card and mailed it to their corporate headquarters in response to the rude treatment I received. (Yes, I even played the disabled card, which I never do, but this haughty little I'm-Above-This employee was asking for like treatment.) I never received any response from customer relations regarding this incident despite my letter requesting clarification of their policy that accompanied my returned mutilated card. I have since heard of other incidents from other pet owners who were also "denied service" for various reasons, none of which made much sense to me. (PS - When my dog relieved himself on the floor of the Petsmart grooming area, I admit that I was not above not informing Miss Manners of this fact. I considered it yet another demonstration of my dog's excellent taste. Oh, yeah, he lived for another 2 years after Petsmart's refusal to bath him.) read more

I'm retracting everything I said about the store. Trisha was amazing, but she left about a year ago. We've started to frequent the Petsmart in Cerritos because this one has literally gone to the dogs. The first indicator was when we were picking up our dog from the hotel and they brought us the wrong dog. After that we've stopped in due to the convenience of the location and everyone is too busy gossiping like high schoolers to actually help. Today, a woman said a harness that was clearly too big for my dog was the harness that fit her. After she walked away my dog pulled both front paws out of the harness and escaped. These people have no clue how to do their jobs. read more

I am writing this review on behalf of Kona, my 11 year old Sheppard/Lab mix. She was very happy with the grooming services of this particular Petsmart, but she was absolutely wowed by their Pet Hotel. She has had two recent stays at this Pet Hotel. The first was a 2 day quick stay while her Mom and Dad's (hmm that's weird, but also weird to say "owner" so just go with it.) home was tented. The staff was happy to add extra playtime for a small fee, the room includes 2 walks a day and potty time, but we thought Kona could use some extra love. The room also included science diet food on her normal feeding schedule. When Kona was picked up, she was given a report card on how well she did. She was given high marks on everything btw =) Her second stay was very stressful, not for her, but for her Mom and Dad. You see, the original stay was scheduled for 3 nights, but was eventually extended to 13 nights!!!! We missed her so much! Luckily, the staff at the Pet Hotel was very kind and loving towards Kona and gave her extra baths and love. When we were finally able to pick her up and bring her home the staff was so attached to her that they insisted on walking her out to the car and helping her in. I really feel like she was in the best place possible for the time she was apart from her family. If I ever have to be away from her again, I will choose this Pet Hotel. read more

This review is for the PetsHotel at the Petsmart in the LB Town Center. The doggy day care here is excellent! Staff is very attentive and polite here to my dog Tank. He is a regular here, about 4 days a week and he always has a great time. -Check-in is anytime after 7am -Check-out is anytime before 830-845ish (they close at 9) -If you bring food for your dog they will him/her at lunch time. Dogs get an hour break at noon for an hour while the staff cleans the play area. -Reservations arent a requirement, but its always good to have because some days they get too full and cant accept any more dogs. I haven't boarded Tank here so I can't say pros/cons on boarding, however, I'm sure boarding aspect is excellent just like the doggy day care. I HIGHLY recommend this place for your doggy day care! $20.00 per day care session!! read more

What a horrible customer service experience provided by Vincent. He helped a customer then stopped helping customers to check out puppy outfits after he was done looking at the outfits he asked to help the next customer in line. He assumed I brought a coupon that I received via mail that was NOT LEGIT, were his words. He called Angie over to verify it and she went into the office and came back saying it was good. Apparently they don't know what coupons corporate is sending out. She was familiar with save $5 or $10 but had but had not seen 20% off $150 purchase. Guess what Vincent it turns out to be LEGIT. Don't make assumptions based on appearances. read more

This review is for the Pet Hotel. When the fires were happening last year in Yorba Linda, I had to take my dogs from my mom's house and place them here. Now, I have two beautiful girl pit bulls (one is about 75lbs and super fit). Not many places wanted to take pit bulls let alone my larger one. This pet hotel was more than accommodating in the circumstances as I was not sure how long it would be before they could return to my mom's. The manager, Tyrone, was very helpful and nice. I found the daily rates for the Deluxe accommodations to be decent and the add-ons (Bizzy Bundle, Treat Time etc.) to be a bargin. I called daily to check on my girls and the staff was able to provide me with what they did, their feeding schedule, and how they did during their place time. I loved this. When I picked up my dogs , they were suuuuuuuuuuper happy! I could tell they were treated well and had a wonderful time. Note: Pit Bulls cannot participate with other dogs in any play time due to their breed. This is the Petsmart policy, not this particular location's. Still, I am taking a star off due to this policy as I find it is bullshit. read more

This review is for the Pet Hotel/Doggie Day Camp customer service. I had stopped by recently to checkout the place and ask questions about boarding. A young man, Jonathan, answered all my questions with great attitude. I proceeded to fill out my paperwork and he called my vet to check on the status of my puppy's vaccinations. I was thoroughly pleased with how he kept my best interest at heart and not try to up sale, in which case many employees tend to do. Due to his demeanor, I ended up signing up for the day camp too besides the boarding! Will give another review about the boarding experience. read more

My review is for the PetHotel, Banfield and grooming PetHotel: I brought my puppy doxie in before our trip to Las Vegas! He had recently been bitten in the ear by another dog. I explained this to them and they noted it, making sure that anyone who played with him, would be aware. They checked him for fleas before bringing him back, which I approve of. I don't want another dog giving my puppy fleas! I called every day to check on him. Every day they gave me a run down on how he's doing, who he's playing with, his potty habits and how he's eating. The only complaint I have about the PetsHotel is that I told them I have an appointment with Banfield across the way on Sunday. They told me they'd bring him to his appointment. I called Banfield on Monday and they informed me they had not seen him the day prior. I called the PetsHotel and they brought him right over that day. Banfield: I decided to bring my puppy here to get his shots so he'd be able to stay at the PetsHotel! It's super convenient that everything is in the same building. They gave me a list of what is required, and a list of what is recommended. They also informed me that I could sign him up for their program. It's not expensive, considering it waives all office visits and discounts his shots. After my puppy was bitten by a dog, I brought him here. I told them I did not have a lot of money until pay day, and they told me they'd work with me. They brought him back (free visit, btw because of that program) and informed me all they would have to do is flush his ear. The price was so good I was able to afford that, his antibiotics and pain meds. I decided not to get the pain meds, because I didn't feel it was necessary. I will continue to use this vets office. Not only because I pay a monthly membership but because their staff is amazing. The first nurse, Stephanie was very gentile with him. I especially was happy with her service. The vets on both occasions came out and explained things to us and were very helpful and courteous . I could tell they really cared for my puppy. Grooming: I've only used their grooming one time. My puppy is a smooth hair dog so he doesn't need a whole lot. I brought him in to have his nails clipped. The lady at the counter informed me that it might be better for him to have his nails grinded instead. Because he's a puppy this was only $6! I was concerned for him, so I stayed and watched. The guy who got my puppy was really nice with him. My poor doxie was scared and bit him a little, but not aggressively, he was just scared. All the tech did was pet him and talk nice to him. I love these people. They're so cool. Thanks Petsmart for being so rad read more

On Saturday evening at 6pm, Fawn was delivered into my care. I made a promise to a friend upon his diagnosis of prostate cancer that if he should out live his beloved Fawn (who also has cancer) and or is unable to care for her any longer, that I would provide her with a forever home. That day came this weekend. I grew up with dogs and have pet sat for friends with dogs. I do love dogs and prefer them over cats. But... But I personally have not owned a dog. Having had this bundle of white fur transferred into my care was a little overwhelming; therefore, I headed to PetSmart. Grace approached me as I was a little confused in the Blue Dog Food aisle. I did not know if I should buy Fawn adult or senior. My friend said his dog was an adult not a senior, but she looked and behaved so old. I thought perhaps that is could be depression and separation anxiety. Milo came to join us in the dog food isle as did two other employees. They guesstimated Fawns' age between 12 to 15 which was a very accurate guess that has been confirmed by the Vet. So Blue Senior Formula it was. We chatted at length about Fawn's other needs in a home that was ill equipped for a dog let alone an elderly dog with an infestation of fleas! lol Grace, Milo and two other employees were so extremely knowledgeable and helpful. I am so grateful that there is a warm caring place I can go to for Fawn's needs. I have been following their suggestions to ease the separation anxiety and the depression. The tarter control liquid for Fawn's water has been extremely helpful in curbing her bad breath and I hope it helps remove some of the tarter from her teeth. The natural flea shampoo did not work sadly. The fleas laughed at me. I could see their giggling happy faces after the second bath. I had to resort to a pill that is filled with chemicals. This saddened me but then it was pointed out that Fawn is not a puppy and has cancer. Being without the itch of fleas was a trade off to chemicals. I am hopping my friend (her father) finds her vet documents soon because I really want to bring her into PetSmart soon to be groomed. The employees were so tender and sweet to her that I feel confident they will take care of her tumored laced skin with the same energy. Kindness is a benefit that many companies and society today have under rated its importance. But for me, kindness is king. Thank you so very much for guiding this very new pet owner gently and being so kind to Fawn, helping me to accommodate her needs. Warm gratitude and hugs to everyone who assisted me on Saturday with Fawn. read more

I have 3 small dogs. I prefer Petsmart over Petco. They have better selection than Petco. Staff are much more helpful than at Petco. I used to go here to get my yorkie groomed. The older caucasian lady and the hispanic girl with drawn in eyebrows are the best!! They do such a thorough job with my yorkie. Not sure if they're still working there, but big shout outs to them! During the holidays they have the Sugar Cookie cologne they put on and it smells deeeeelicious! the smell lasted about a week! I've been trying to find that stuff online but haven't been able to find it Now, one time I went there and this big fat hispanic guy was there. I just went in for a ear and nail package. He was the laziest person I've ever seen. He moved like a sloth and did a half ass job. He almost let my dachshund drop from the grooming table!! I was so mad!! You suck!! read more

This review is for their Doggy DayCamp. Everything went well the first time I took my dog here for day camp. When I came to pick my dog up, I was given a "paw-gress" report summarizing my dog's behavior during the day. I thought that was sooo cute and decided I would come back again and collect more of these "paw-gress" reports. But after he came here for the second and third time, he came home with bloody diarrhea. The vet diagnosed him with giardia both times and suspected that he contracted it from the shared water bowl at day camp. It took a while to restore the natural flora of his digestive sysetm so I'm very wary to take him back here again. read more

This PetsMart is probably the best one I've been to. It is pretty convenient considering it has Doggy Daycare for my Basset Hound. Banfield Vet Services and Grooming....all in one drop off! I leave my girl at the Doggy Day Care and they will take her to grooming at the latest scheduled time available so she's nice and clean for me when I pick her up. Banfield is pretty awesome. I stuck with them because their services are pretty professional(Although I found a local Bixby Knolls clinic that is independently owned for my yorkie). If it's a convenience factor and you would like your pet to be well taken care of then this is the one stop place to go! Why just 4 stars? I personally like to give more props to the small businesses knowing they make much more of an effort to compete with these huge companies.... read more

This review is only for the doggy daycamp section of the store, not the rest of the store. We used to take my dog to a specific doggy daycamp in Costa Mesa, but when we moved, we hadn't found a replacement and thought Petsmart would do the job. At first, it worked out well. We could drop her off and leave her pretty easily before work, no problem. But then one day, we were told that she had a flea on her and couldn't stay without being treated. The treatment cost over a hundred dollars. Here's the thing... We'd just treated our dog with Revolution only days before this. We couldn't treat her again so soon, and there were other dogs waiting to check in at the same time, so perhaps a flea jumped over on her from them. They wouldn't listen. My boyfriend had to take her home, causing him to be late to work. We've decided we are done with Petsmart daycamp. When we drop her off, we need it to be reliable. We can't afford to be late to work because they spot a flea, especially when they could call the vet and have proof that she was treated days before that. Literally, she was treated days before this. I've had iffy experiences with them in the past when I had to use them for other situations, but this is ridiculous. They gave us no choice but to spend the money on their flea treatment or take her home. Like I said, it made my boyfriend very late to work to drive all the way home to drop her off. It was a huge inconvenience on our part because there's no way we'd treat her for fleas again days after it was already applied, that's just not safe. When people use a facility like this, they NEED to know they can drop their dog off without a hassle. They have flights to catch, jobs to get to. If you absolutely have somewhere you have to be, don't trust that you can just drop your dog off here without an issue. And for that reason, we will go elsewhere, somewhere more reliable, from now on. read more

This review is for the pet hotel staff. I took my pup here while I was on vacation and the staff were really knowledgeable regarding diets that are good for dogs with food sensitivity, how to care for a high energy breed ( Siberian husky), and just really accommodating. Initially there was some miscommunication regarding my dogs vaccination record which was somewhat frustrating. It took a whole day to clear up but the staff (Jonathan and Melissa) worked hard to resolve it . Melissa went the extra mile to explain their policy and was super nice enough to comp a few of his play times. Ashley was very professional and helpful in scheduling. She gave detailed descriptions of the services they offered and what packages would be best suited for my dog. All the staff helped to put me at ease since this was the first time I was boarding my pup. Eileen was super sweet in giving me an update on my dogs progress and even gave me tips on food that would be beneficial for him. Really can't be happier with the service. Price was also really reasonable. He stayed four nights in a suite ( TV, own cot, raised food/water, and 2 walks a day) for under $200. I would definitely board him here again. read more

From my many travels for work and pleasure, my sweet little dog has had to stay at pet hotels. I've actually been to other Petsmart pet hotels, but after a few stays at this particular one, it definitely feels as close to home as it can get. The staff are all so friendly and every time I make a reservation over the phone and say my doggie's name, they squeal with excitement. The facilities are probably the cleanest I've seen. And it's a smaller hotel, so less dogs and more attention being paid to them. They are also very good at making sure shots, etc. are up to date before you can have your pet stay there. My doggie is always happy and exhausted from playing with all of his friends when I pick him up. It's good to have that reassuring feeling that your pet is in good hands. read more

Everything you could ever want for your pet!

This is the second time Dexter has stayed at the PetHotel. This time he stayed there two nights. The people at the front desk were super nice when I dropped him off and picked him up. The dogs are walked twice a day. You can also pay for the dogs to go to Doggy Day Camp where they can play and socialize with other dogs. They do include food in the price and will follow your home routine. In Dexter's case he is on a special diet since he had kidney stones, so I just brought his food from home. When I got him home he seemed extra thirsty. But that could have been for several reasons. read more

This place is located in the Long Beach Town Center, next to Pier One Imports. This particular location is pretty big. My fiance and I come here from time to time looking for things for my hamsters or my dog. My fiance is a fan of aquariums and so he usually heads over the fish area first to take a look. Generally the fish tanks are well maintained. There is plenty of different dog food brands here that we can buy our dog and there is always adequately stocked items that I can purchase for my hamsters as well. This store offers cat adoptions, the Pets Hotel, veterinarian clinic and also grooming services. This store is very clean and it does not have a stuffy dog scent in the air. Restrooms are located in the very back of the store, on the right hand side (if you are facing the back of the store). FYI, You need to ask for a key to use the restroom though. Pricing here is competitive and similar to their rival Petco. But I prefer the service at Petco because employees just seem to be a little friendlier and more personable. Also people who work in their assigned sections seem to actually know what they are talking about. (Oh and every so often, when you buy something from Petco, a $2 off a $5 purchase coupon prints out w/ your receipt so you can come back and buy your pet more stuff. Too bad Petsmart doesn't have something like that). Overall, this place is clean and they have a lot of stuff you can buy for your beloved pets and I'm sure they wouldn't know the difference from where you got it from for them. read more

We have been coming here since they opened up. Their customer service used to be great. Now, not so much. They are probably feeling the pinch and will have minimal staff on hand. The staff they do have, are great. Helpful and polite. We have used their grooming services and have no complaints with their services. The only complaint is the staffing. If you want to see if there is stock in the back or if there is an option to order something, good luck trying to find someone on the floor. You have to go to the front and ask the cashier for someone to assist. Then you will see someone come from the back. Don't get me wrong the prices are good and we will continue to shop there. read more

I like going to this PetsMart at the Long Beach Towne Center. I have a 60-gallon freshwater tropical fish tank in my living room. I've had my current fish since 2004 and they're all still alive, so I must be doing something right! I come here mainly to purchase supplies. I had purchased a replacement aquarium filter back in January after the original one that came with my tank died of old age. :-( I did a price comparison for the same filter at Strictly Fish around the corner and they were rather expensive, so I came to PetsMart and ended up purchasing the filter for almost $20 less (it was on sale plus I got a discount with the Pet Perks card), so I was a happy camper. :-) I was over here recently to purchase replacement filtering media for the filter. The young lady who helped me was very nice and showed me where to find them. They do have a good selection of freshwater tropical fish. They don't carry marine/saltwater tropical fish because they disagree with the methods used in catching them (blowing up live coral reefs with dynamite, for one). There are specials on the fish from time to time and they're advertised in newspaper circulars and online. I don't have a dog (yet) but PetsMart has a Pet Hotel and Doggie Day Camp. It's my understanding that certain breeds are banned from the facility ("bully" type breeds). Also, they have an onsite groomer and Banfield Veterinary Clinic. Walking around the store, I noticed the wide selection of supplies for the furbabies (both canine and feline). This is also a great place to go shopping WITH your pet! read more

This review is specifically for our recent horrible grooming experience. It was our little maltipoo's first haircut. We assumed that a place that specializes in everything you can possibly need for your pet would be able to handle a grooming for a tiny doggy. Had I knew they had no idea what they were doing, we would have done it ourselves. The end result was so bad, I'm sure Stevie Wonder would have done a much better job. Our puppy walked in looking a bit shaggy but very cute nonetheless and she walked out looking like a wild hyena rat pup. So we will definitely be looking elsewhere when it comes to a groomer next time or just do it ourselves and I suggest anyone who reads this does the same. read more
