    My poor stinky baby
    Ebonee M.

(GROOMING) I'm so upset with myself for two reasons. First, I always read Yelp reviews. I'm so mad I didn't read the reviews before taking my fur son to this janky establishment. Secondly, the first time I took Milo to get groomed at this store he came back so MAD. He was so upset he didn't even eat his Starbucks Puppuccino after. My poor baby stayed mad all day. I should've known things weren't right. SMH. (To my defense, I just adopted him in January so I'm still learning how to be a good dog mom.) Last Saturday, May 8th I dropped my baby off to get a bath & haircut. He was there for about 5-6 hours. When I picked him up, he seemed excited to see me. I didn't notice anything was wrong. When we got home I immediately saw something was NOT right. I initially thought something was wrong with his leg. He would walk fine for a little, then he would hop as if he was trying to take the pressure off one of his back legs. He would have to take a seat after he took around 15-20 steps. He also kept licking both his leg, butt & was chasing his tail. All of these things were not normal. I called PetSmart and filled out an incident report. Of course, they didn't see any notes that the groomer (Janyce) left on the account. The next day things got worse. His energy levels became low, he lost his appetite, he laid around all day, he barely barked, and when I attempted to take him on a walk, he would have to sit down every 2 mins or so. In addition, I found a tick on him the very next day!!!! A BIG TICK that I know had been feasting on him for a while! And he STILL SMELLS. I believe they gave him a hair cut and didn't bathe him. Of course I took him back to PetSmart and they said nothing happened to him but y'all, my baby is not the same! Then I look up the reviews and see this isn't an isolated incident. I'm not sure what went down, but I know it was something! If you love your dog, I would suggest taking them somewhere else for their grooming needs. DO NOT LEAVE YOUR DOG ALONE WITH THESE PEOPLE!

How she normally looks coming from the groomer.

NEVER let Imani groom your dog! From start to finish her customer service was poor and I should have trusted my dog's intuition when she did not want to go with her (she's EXTREMELY friendly). I know my baby was matted on her legs and had a few around her face but it did not mean she had to completely shave her. She looks choppy even shaved down. My dog mattes easily and her normal groomer is used to it and has never had to be shaved down. Imani is completely incompetent when it comes to grooming dogs. I'm in tears writing this review because she destroyed my baby's hair.

    Bio sludge

My location's staff is good they are as helpful as most box store staff in our area, no problem there. It's the husbandry of the aquatics that is disgusting. Dead fish that have been snacked on for days, flat water, filmed over tanks, bio sludge build up. The plant section is like looking at leftovers. The Bettas get the worst of it I think. I almost want to call animal control on this location. I want to see this looks like the Bowie and Annapolis locations so I can have a place I'm proud to shop from but this is wrong.

    The infamous Mandrill
    Kim B.

I wish I would've looked up reviews on Yelp first, I am slipping. There were not specific reviews for groomers at Petsmart Largo, MD or any location for that matter, I was just so happy to get my pup groomed. Although the wildlife transformations are cute, I didn't know I was bringing my puppy to be transformed into a Mandrill (you know the primate with the red and blue nose. Grant it, this was our first time, first puppy, first grooming, all of that, so I had no idea what I wanted and told the groomer (Jaleesa) I wanted some of the hair out of her eyes , so a little low on the face and I would leave the grooming to her discretion. She seemed knowledgeable telling me what she would do and how she probably couldn't cut the coat down because she was so young. I got the puppy wash and cut plus the $25 extra pack of conditioning, nail grind, and teeth brushing. The nails still feel very long and sharp and I understand about the nail quick and all of that because I've had guinea pigs who needed their nails cut on a consistent basis. Look like she missed those, skin seems to be still itchy, and I'll admit I didn't check the breath. I was just so surprised by the face cut. Never again, I'll find a groomer who specializes in hair cutting especially with a dog like a double doodle. I looked at all the possible styles she could've done and this would have never been a thought to me. Now we're waiting on her hair to grow back, my pup is even feeling insecure about it . I'm including before and after pics, as well as one of a Mandrill (in case you don't know, you don't have to go searching).

My fur baby Cymba had an appointment on 1/5/2019. He is a nervous doggy and it takes him a while to become comfortable in new situations. Apparently, during his appointment the tech did not/could not get him to relax enough to give him a thorough groom. I understand and I don't blame the tech at all. I called the next morning (1/6/2019) and spoke with the salon manager, Colleen. She told me to bring him back and she would take care of it. When I got him back from Colleen he was my perfect little prince. As I watched from the corner of the store I could tell she was calm, loving, and cared about her job and Cymba was nervous at first but soon after he relaxed enough for her to do her job, thoroughly. Thanks Colleen for being an awesome tech and manager.

The injury my 5 year old yorkiepoo sustained during routine grooming at PetSmart in Largo. Please refer to my review for story.

Also he showed destructive behaviors because of his separation anxiety. I was in a rut. I was trying all types of methods to get him trained first from me. I used a Gentle Leader, Youtube Videos, Wiki-How, and also looking at Boarding. The thing with the local train and boards they were really expensive. It was out of my range so I was keen on training him myself. After some time the issues still didn't subside. I took Keto to the dog park so he can "exert his energy". That is a place I have no control. Keto would run around, had no recall, and would show aggression towards other dogs as well. One owner was at the dog park and recommended Kevin, the owner of FourDogLovers for Keto. After seeing how her dogs were near her and listening to her commands I took the leap. I went ahead and booked a consultation with Kevin after looking through his instagram and checking if he really works. Went ahead and filled out a form on his website and we did a facetime call on what the problems were. He knew from there what to work on to change Keto and me for the better. The best thing about working with Kevin is he provided lots of information and homework for you to do when the dog isn't in his care. The plans he had me choose from were VERY competitive. I was shocked from other boards charging $$$$ and him at a very comfortable level. Fast forward a couple months of having Keto (and me) train with Kevin and he's a completely new dog. Great recall, no destructive behaviors, no pulling on leash, and so much more. I could not thank Kevin enough for his patience and his knowledge he shared me and Keto throughout these months. If you can considering boarding your training your dog this company is your choice. Best of both worlds where he can board or even do daycare for you. If you are just a little hesitant you can definitely book a consultation and see what a few tricks can help you with your training!

I was desperate to help my dog and myself and Off Leash K9 had good reviews. What these folks didn't tell me was that my dog's reactivity, what I thought was outright aggression, was actually fear - that she was scared of all of these things and trying to protect herself from them. So with the use of the e-collar (really just a shock collar let's be honest), I punished her every time she showed a fear response at Off Leash K-9's direction. This definitely changed her behavior, but rather than helping her feel more comfortable with the things that scared her, we instead punished her for being afraid and taught her to hide her fear responses. I wish I had looked at the science behind dog behavior, because I now know research shows that punishment through things like e-collars, buzz collars, spray bottles, etc. are incredibly counterproductive to changing dog behavior long term and they seriously traumatize the dog. I'm so very grateful to have met a Fear Free trainer who taught me about positive reinforcement. It has improved my relationship with my dog immensely and it has ultimately lead to the sustained behavior change I was looking for. Please do not waste your money on abusive, ignorant training through Off Leash K9.

Prior to today, I gathered all of the details for today's visit. The young lady stated the temperament testing was free, (I learned this was not true once I got there and signed my pup up for the day). (FIRST NEGATIVE) Prior to leaving, I had my own water bowl and water for my pup. The young lady said, oh no, we provide water for your dog. ALL OF THE DOGS DRINK OUT OF THE SAME BOWL. (I knew I should have gotten my dog and left then but I didn't). (SECOND NEGATIVE) At the conclusion of the testing, they are suppose to provide a physical report card of how well your pup did. Fast forward to the pickup. When they brought my pup out, he did not look like how I dropped him off (I'm not complaining about this because he was playing with other dogs.) BUT, he smelled like the other dogs ganged up on him and dumped urine all over him. Ohhh goodness, he was a stinky mess. I did not inquire about this, which I should have. (THIRD NEGATIVE). When I asked for the report card, the young lady goes, "oh I'm sorry, he doesn't have one because there were a lot of dogs today." REALLY?!? But you took my money with no problem. (FOURTH NEGATIVE) The moral to this story, there are too many negatives for the initial consultation so I will pass.
