We don't own a pet but do have wild finches. To keep the flying insect population down we have a few bird feeders. So buying seeds is a issue. Per smart is by far the best deal. read more

They price match! Check their online prices before going, especially on flea control products (advantage, frontline, etc). I saved $10.00!

I feel that this will be my final and last time I will board my dog here. I picked up Ellie today from the doggie hotel and informed the sales rep/cashier that last time we boarded Ellie, she came home with fleas. She claimed that she combed Ellie for fleas before she gave her back. I came home and not even 15 minutes later I got bit 3 times by fleas. Not only did she come home with fleas but they forgot to give Ellie her "exit bath". She claimed that oh I think we were understaffed so they didn't have time to do it! Really??? Ellie was there all day and I didn't even pick her up till 7pm. The cashier said she's going to notate my account so it doesn't happen again. Why did this happen in the first place? I'm pissed cause I didn't get my exit bath I asked for, Ellie came home with fleas (again), and no progress report of her 2 night stay. Understaffed or not....I feel like customer service was terrible. read more

I really love this petsmart. the people in the grooming center are always friendly and are amazing with our chihuahua and cat. They do a full shave of the chihuahua every summer, and do an amazing job. I highly recommend them! read more

LOVE LOVE LOVE The Day Camp!! Everyone is so friendly. You get a Pawgress Report when you pick up your baby so you know how his/her day was. I work all day and am so grateful this place turned out to be so awesome. I feel so good knowing she's playing and making friends while I'm working instead of Home alone. They even gave her a complimentary bath because she walked through her own potty. What a great Service! read more

During my visit today, right as I walked in I got greeted by a blonde lady, who's name I forgot. She helped me look at snakes and immediately took them out to show me which was so nice, rather then me asking! She was AWESOME, I wish I could Remember her name!! But she knew so much info on the snakes and actually told me about each snake and the pluses and minuses!! A++++ job! read more

This place is large yet the don't carry the higher quality cat foods our vet recommends. Nor do they have good cat toys. What they do have going for them is very nice cats available for adoption. Love going in and playing with them every time I am in the area. Good place to buy things like cat litter and beds but if your cat is on a special diet you likely wont find their food at this location. read more

Staff is ok in store Store Manager Larry is about the worst I have ever seen He constantly is griping about his help and tends to blame everything on them. Badmouthing employees in his store and not taking any resposibility for himself. If you decide to purchase from here check the code dat of the items and the pricing I have found several things in my past experience in this store and went to store manager with food items out of code Not just a few days out of code but 4-6 monthes ! His reply has been Its still good and wont hurt your pet My advise is to head down Rancho Santa fe road east to petco its only about 5 minute drive Manager is very helpfull and his staff is great. read more

Just had my Yorkie Jack groomed today at this PetSmart. This was the fourth groomer I've tried in 8 months but this time we hit the jackpot !! Daniel was so great with Jack and did a beautiful job on his cut. I highly recommend him...very nice guy! read more

It's very sad for me to write this review since I have been to this location many times and have had okay experiences. Today was the last draw with this store. First they sold my son who is 10 dead crickets, had him pay for them and walk out of the store. When he got into the car I saw the condition, I took them back in and the women was very rude to me about returning them. I then decided to get a filter for my fish tank and one of the 2 filters in the box were broken. I asked to either buy one at half price or if they had another one I would prefer that one. The same blond women was very rude and said "well the broke one could still work. I can only give you 20% off." I had no words for her and left the store very upset by her not being only rude once but twice over issues with the store that they can control. While there I also decided to try and get my dogs food which was out of stock and also was going to get some things for other pets that was also out of stock. So disappointing and will not be coming back. read more

This is the worst petstore around and I refuse to shop there completely and tell everyone I know of my experiences there. Without getting to into it, the grooming salon cut off the end of my dogs tail. and burnt his back with overheating clippers. Had they just had an accident and told my about the problem and took the measures to have him checked out when I picked him up, I would not have been upset, but they did not even mention it. When I brought my dog back in, they did take him to their in house vet to be looked at, but also made the point to inform me that if I chose to have him looked at again in a week, that I would be paying for it myself.....seriously!! They damaged my pet and then wanted me to pay to have his damgled tail and burnt back examined. Needless to say, after a strongly worded letter and long phone conversations, I managed to get my money back for the cut...but the damage had been done and I will never be going back to any petsmart. I was also informed that the groomer that did this to my dog had "quit" days after this happened. read more

So I come to this pet store when I need things for all my animals. I've never met any staff to be rude at this location, they're very friendly and always make sure I get what I came in for. They're polite and do their job great. I've been to other pet stores where the staff haven't been that friendly, but trust me, the people they have working there now are all very kind. This is the place to go for all your basic pet needs. read more

I was very happy with their service whenever I took my corgi to them for a bath. But my most recent experience took a bad turn when I brought Alec in several months ago. I told the groomer in advance that Alec has some back issues (he's a senior dog) and to be extra gentle with him. I picked him up several hours later and he was limping so badly he could barely walk. I don't know what happened while they had him but obviously they were rough with him. I had to take Alec to the vet to help him with the pain. I called Petsmart to complain and got some female assistant manager who was very nice and seemed genuinely concerned. She said she would have the manager of the store call me the next day. I never heard from him or from anyone else at this Petsmart. I will not bring Alec here again. read more

This appears to be a really nice Petsmart but I am giving it a one star because it is affiliated with a rescue organization named K9 Connections. Today I walked by their adoption event at Petsmart Encinitas and this adorable white with black markings terrier pup was stuffed in a cage way too small for it- it could not sit up straight, it's head and shoulders were hunched over, and it was crying and looked like it was incredibly uncomfortable. Another customer also commented when she walked by. I subsequently called Petsmart and asked Yasmine to track someone down to get the pup moved to an appropriate size cage. So sad- someone made a bad cage size choice and it was abusive to this dog. I have seen good ratings for this rescue organization; I am hoping by posting this that this will be the last time they cause a rescue dog to be placed in such uncomfortable conditions. The other dogs who were in the appropriate sized cages looked fine. read more

My dog has so many friends at PetSmart. He's taken several obedience classes there and even earned his Canine Good Citizen certification. Whenever we walk in, my dog is greeted by name and gets all sorts of petting and love. read more

The store is ok. The employees are not knowledgable. Once they sold me two different varieties of fish saying the they were compatible. One fish ate the other fish the minute i put them in the tank. The people who do the cat adoptions are wacko. They had my eight year old in hysterics because after they said we could adopt they changed their mind because they felt the kittens had bonded and didnt want them to be separated from one another . They drug the adoption on for a full week. It was ridiculous and they want like $100 to adopt. We went the shelter, adopted for $29 and were in and out in one day. That same cat is still with us..very happy. Dont adopt from Pet smart read more

horrible littermate brand replacements for automatic cat litter boxes!! they discontinued scoopfree brand and replaced it with this wretched product that is cheaper and leaks. If you use this type litter box do not buy replacement boxes of crystals here. Go to Petco for the Scoopfree. They were not honest with me about this cheap imitation. Very disappointed in this store. Horrible Grooming Service! These groomers shaved my Yorkie puppy all 3 times I brought him in. The first two times they told me I was taking care of him at home and he had too many tangles. Feeling guilty with a new breed of dog . . . I just tried to do better. They also cut him and glued the cut closed without telling me. The third time I knew his coat was perfectly managed. When I picked him up he was shaved completely again (Including his face, whiskers and tail). This time they told me he was horribly behaved and difficult. Oddly, after six weeks I took him to another groomer who said he was wonderful. He has been going there ever since without incident and his haircut is gorgeous. It should also be noted that I noticed almost every dog I saw coming out of the groomer was shaved. Were they all tangled or all difficult? I would warn anyone against this grooming service. read more

Our experience at the Encinitas Petsmart grooming salon was excellent! Our groomer Brenna was so welcoming and truly cared for the well being of our dogs. She immediately assessed their moods (anxious and nervous) and was like a dog whisperer in calming them. Everything she did was so professional and her warmth and obvious concern for our pups was evident throughout. The dogs look great and even nail trimming in our finicky McK is better than its ever been. I cannot say enough great things about Brenna and would highly recommend Petsmart grooming to all of you. read more

This is the best place for grooming. Ashley is awesome. She schedules our next visit for us because she knows and understands my pet's needs. I know she loves my dog! Everyone in the grooming salon welcomes my dog when she comes in. They recognize her and call out her name. The service is exceptional, the place is clean and all the staff and extremely accommodating. read more

This review is for the pet hotel. We boarded our chihuahua and chihuahua mix for 7 days over Thanksgiving. These dogs are very pampered and live with a retired couple who are home with them all day. I was very nervous about leaving them as they have never been boarded before. I was concerned they would be crazed from missing us and would be barking fools when we picked them up. When they were brought out they were so calm and looked absolutely beautiful after their exit bath. They really acted like they wouldn't have minded staying longer and loved the staff. I am so glad we have Petsmart Hotel for our future travel needs. read more

Always not packed with people and customer service is readily available when we go in the store recommend

Groomers can be found all over town, but not necessarily great ones. Our experience with our 1 year old Goldendoodle has been great. Stacy (groomer) gave him his first puppy cut and we'll continue to go back to her. Doodles have a particular look, and she has it down. Her kindness and enthusiasm towards our dog is always over the top and sincere. Her grooming skills are top notch. We tried one other place (recommended) but came right back to PetSmart. She'll be our go-to groomer. The store staff is also kind and helpful. The prices are comparable, if not better. 5 stars from me, for sure! read more

Our dog is a husky mix and has mountains of hair. When we arrived at the Eincinitas PetSmart, Jamie her groomer immediately got low to the ground and played with her to connect. Of course our dog was hesitant to go off with someone else but she seemed more comfortable than with her previous groomer. Jamie did an incredible job brushing her and removing so much hair She also took 1/2 the time as the previous groomer and obviously our dog had her undivided attention. We are so glad we found Jamie! read more

Figured out the problem I was having with my fish. I needed to upgrade my fish tank and they were super helpful!! Got the right tank with a quiet filter. We went for a bath only and they were ok. I did not feel they were too into their "job". Not sure I would trust them to actually do a full groom or haircut. They were nice, I just question the skill level of the employees. read more

Went in early last Friday morning to get our dog's nails trimmed - "walk in dog grooming". The lady at the desk started collecting our information, then paused and said they were really busy and asked if we could come back that afternoon. So we left and before returning, I called shortly before 1 PM and spoke with someone in the grooming area. I asked how busy they were and whether they could take us right away. The answer was yes, so we loaded up our dog and returned. Again, they collected our information and were told it would be ten minutes. We waited, and waited. Then someone came out, took our dog, then brought him back out and said it would be "soon". More waiting. Then the girl on the desk got up to go to lunch, leaving us to wonder what was going on. After more than a half an hour we gave up and left. This was such a simple task, and yet nobody seemed to have a handle on what was happening. Won't return. read more

I've had a fresh water tank for over ten years and religiously clean the tank and change the filters. I purchased some community fish and a live plant from this Petsmart. A few fish die, I go back in and get some new ones (check out girl had said we don't need to bring the dead ones back after explaining their policy at POS, said it would be "morbid"). New ones also die. Upon further inspection of the fish, it looks like Ick was the issue. Go back again and request our money back. They swear it's not what occurred as they religiously treat their tanks and fish and won't refund my money as we did not bring the dead fish in. I mention the girls instruction but to no avail, I'm just told that they'll coach her. Ask for a discount of some Ick treatment, not free mind you, just discounted, and am denied. Whatever occurred was caused by the fish and plant I purchased there and I got the run around. I will not be back and don't recommend this place to anyone. read more
