i like this PetSmart never had any problems with the staff except once over the phone.The guy or girl (couldn't really tell which) was kind of rude and I didn't appreciate that, but other than that everyone has been really nice.They always treat my dogs like they're their own, and that's what I like most.You can't have an animal hater working here..how awful would that be? I especially like it because it's always clean.Some prices are better than Petco, but I have never tried the grooming because I bathe my dogs. read more

I really like this Petsmart. They are always very helpful & help you find anything you need. I was at an all out war against fleas on my two dogs & one of the trainers showed me which carpet powder was the best. No more fleas! (combined with expensive vet flea pills though). I recently took my 2 Maltese mix dogs to the groomer there too. They did an excellent job. Dropped them off at 10:30am picked them up at 1:30pm. The groomers were friendly & seemed to really love dogs. I had the Premium groom for my boy ($40) & just bath/brush for my little girl ($21) cause she didn't need a haircut. The grooming department was very busy that Saturday but if you make an appt. you shouldn't have a problem. read more

This location is friendlier then the Torrance store. They keep this location full stocked of my pets needs and prices fair to comparison of petco. Still kind of pricey but if you dont want to drive down to global pet supplies for a better deal this will have to do. read more

This is for their grooming service: I took my two cats in for a full body shave. When I picked them up, one of the cats' shave was so choppy. The lady just said my cat was too finicky. Fine, maybe he just wouldn't stay put but he's usually the more behaved one of the two. But I still would have given them 3 stars except 1 week later, I noticed a gigantic abscess on the back of my other cat. I took her to the vet and turned out she got infected from a likely skin cut. She's an indoor cat and never had this the 13 years i've had her so my suspicions are that petsmart groomers nicked her while grooming and failed to treat the wound nor mention it to me. read more

I have no idea what is going on with this store !! I have adopted two of my dogs from their rescue and now the dogs are in the area where the shopping carts go ??? I brought my friend who just lost his dog to cancer and we did find a cute pup, but the rescue group was so crowded we couldn't even turn around. One of the customer dogs coming in the store tried to bite my dog and when we went outside there was pee all along the walls. For the right dog you suffer, but then when we went inside, the shelves were empty, the store was dirty and none of the people who worked there knew where anything was - fed up, I asked for a manager and got this very sloppy looking guy with food on his shirt who took a call in the middle of our conversation ! We adopted the pup and went to Centinela to buy his supplies - so very disappointed. Will never go back . . . no matter how cute the dogs. read more

I love this particular location I've been coming here since my dog was born. he is now four and a half. They take good care of my pets and all the grooming specialist are great but my dog bear he has been going to Tiffany and Gina since he's been born. I now live in Glendale and still drive out to El Segundo location to have my dog groomed he always comes back so handsome and even though he's very fidgety they still get him a great haircut. I will continue to come to this location I tried one of the locations closer to my house new store I didn't like the haircut or the service that he got so El Segundo thank you guys for being so awesome for so long read more

I've gotten my dog groomed from many different places and every time she comes back from the groomers, she always looked like a "princess" which I don't like at all. She's a mut, part terrier which most groomers automatically gave her that teddy bear haircut even after I specifically told them I don't like that. All I've wanted was a simple haircut and for all her hair to be even and it wasn't until Georgina who actually listened and understood what I wanted for my dog. Typically when I use this location for grooming, I've never had a problem. Today was the first time I was completely unhappy with their communication. I called a week ahead of time to make an appointment to get my dogs groomed here. I live in Phoenix but I come out to the area a weekend every other month. And during my visit, I always make an appointment to get my dogs groomed at this location (ahead of time). I spoke to a guy who was trying to book my appointment and he gave me the available time slot. I told him that I wanted the 11:00 slot. But then when I told him I have 2 dogs, he went back and said oh wait a minute... and gave me a new selections of time slot to choose from. I proceeded to take the 11:30am time slot for both of my dogs. GREAT! I thought I was all set! Today I came in at 5 before 11:30 to get my dogs set up, they tell me I'm not in the system... (WHY NOT!?) it took 3 people to find my appointment... and SURPRISE!!! It was booked at 9:30am. Typically I've gotten a phone call to verify my appointment the day before, ( at least I used to when I used to take my dogs at the south Torrance location) the girl who I spoke to at the counter claims that they called me. I've never received a phone call at all. No text message like they claimed they automatically send out... or an email confirming my appointment. None. She apologize for the miscommunication, which is fine. But it doesn't fix the fact that no additional communications were made prior to my appointment like they claimed their system automatically sends out. It's truly a huge inconvenience because I'm coming from out of town... she offered to do a bath and quick trim on my dogs... but what sense does that make for me to go ahead with that process and pay her when I can do that for free at home at my own time? I'm just upset that one of the errands I intended on getting done out here was not completed. It's disappointing and annoying. read more

I love this Petsmart! My puppy Andy goes there for his vet appointments, to get his clothes and food, to get his obedience training (finished intermediate training earlier this year), and to get groomed. He has an EXCELLENT groomer named Kristen that he goes to see on a regular basis and she is just fantastic. You can tell that she is an animal lover; she takes her time answering questions and you know your dog is in good hands because Andy goes to her willingly and wags his tail furiously every time he sees her...a good sign! Kristen is an amazing groomer and I highly recommend her. She gets an A++++ in my book. Also, there is a cashier that is an absolute sweetheart and her name is Amanda. She always gives Andy treats and hugs and he loves her too. Kristen and Amanda are El Segundo Petsmart's top employees in my opinion! Go see them! read more

My favorite pet groomer in town!! I left my puppy with a girl named Kaarina. My puppy is usually afraid of everything and Kaarina right off the bat made her feel comfortable. Went in for nail trim and hair wash. I have gone to other stores and they have messed up my puppies nails some longer then the others and some split but when I went to pick up my puppy not only did she smell amazing but her nails were perfect! Thank you Kaarina on the amazing job! 5 stars for the groomers and the puppy loves you! I will be back! read more

The quality of things here is good, and the people working are nice. I just don't like how expensive it is here. I've also noticed that they don't always have a wide variety of things. For example they don't carry a type of leash I like to use. I would go here for pet supplies, but really only once and a while. read more

Unfortunately I can't leave a review without at least one star but they don't deserve it. I have a new puppy and I use Pet smart for food, supplies and the vet but as far as grooming is concerned there is no way I will ever try them again. I made an appointment for a puppy trim for 10.30am. I assumed when I show up they take the dog and start their thing and I could watch the whole process through the window. But no, they took my dog put her in a cage and said we will call you in 3-4 hours. WTF! The only concern here is to make money. Why else would you book appointments back to back knowing it takes time for each dog. Would you put up with this in getting your own hair done? I don't think so. I'm sure my pup thought she was being punished why else would she be sitting in a cage. Not knowing any better then I left her thinking this was the norm but after 2hours I just couldn't see any reasoning behind this and went and picked up my pup who by the way was still in the fu****g cage waiting. Worst customer service ever!! Awful experience............I made an appointment via phone the night before and when I arrived they had no record of the appointment. The girl at the counter blankly stared at me and said I should have made the appointment on line - that way I could prove I made the appointment (like I was lying)? No effort to accommodate or check another store. If I could give a zero rating I would - BEWARE - don't make an appointment via phone. I took my dog there on Friday to get his first grooming and as I was waiting I saw a little dog being dragged across the floor by their, GREEN loop around the neck, leash. Mind you now that he still had his own harness on and had his leash attached. The groomer just dragged the dog while she was talking to another worker in the service area, not paying attention to the dog at all. I had to yell out very loudly to" stop dragging the dog by his heck and use the harness leash" that was attached (blue). Their immediate comment was that the neck muscle is the strongest muscle on a dogs body and that he was fine, and eventually he will get up and walk. They refused to acknowledge that there was ANYTHING at all wrong with this procedure. Fortunately while I was waiting for my turn I noticed a very caring male groomer and asked him to not let that FAT Short HAIRED (W)itch touch my dog. I can understand if there is no harness attached to the dog that you might have to encourage a dog to move along but this was absolutely not necessary. BEWARE take your pets somewhere else. Also my dogs sanitary clip around the butt was trimmed so close that there is a very red razor burn and he is rubbing his rear on the ground which he was not doing the day before,. NEVER AGAIN!!! Stay away from their pet grooming salon. read more

I scheduled a December 23, 2019 5 PM appointment to have my dog groomed. (I have used them many times in the past few years and have been satisfied with their work. My 20 minute drive took 45 minutes on this date. When I arrived, I was told his shots had expired and I needed to bring proof of immunization. I knew this was not true and that I had previously provided his updated shot record. (He received his immunizations in June and he had two hair cuts since the renewal.) When I questioned further, I was told they expired in September, one week after his last grooming. I explained their dates were wrong and some one must have altered the record and recounted my bringing in the updated document. The groomer was adamant and I left, with the ungroomed dog, discouraged and taken aback at being presumed to be a liar. I vowed not to use their services again, and admonish them to maintain records appropriately, and run an audit check to see which user altered his file. read more

yikes! yelpers apparently do NOT like this petsmart. i've rarely gone to petsmart, because, well, i don't own any animals. but i've always enjoyed their little ditty on the radio or tv. i can't have any bad feelings about this place, because i got my new puppy here!!!! : ) I went online to: http://www.petfinder.com/shelters/CA735.html. Apparently, Petsmart has weekly pet adoptions, held at the back of the store. A variety of rescue groups come here with older dogs, puppies, and everything in between. i do not believe these rescue groups pay a fee for petsmart, but i am not positive. they seem to make business off of the new owners getting the puppies/dogs. That being said, I did have one worker that was a bit pushy, and would not back the hell off. she kept asking me what dog i was getting, that i just HAD to get the 30 dollar puppy food, and this and that.... etc. it wasn't intimidating, it was just annoying. i was helped by another younger girl, and she was very chill, and told me what were the best leashes to get. etc..... this is definitely a place where you can bring your pets along for the shopping trip. in that respect, it was extremely fun to see all the dogs playing together in the store. the downside: items are a bit overpriced, a chain going for 15+ dollars...really? (i saw one for 7 at CVS). but definitely seems like a specialty pet store. just make sure to find the right help here, it's definitely there! i'm probably not going to go back here again, but...i recommend everyone to go adopt a dog! they have such big hearts, and all they need is a loving home. Why oh why did I think it was OK to take my dog to a PetSmart to get groomed? I arrived at a little before 11 am for our 11:00 appt. They asked what I wanted to do to the pup and I said the standard...a little off the top, a little around the face, legs, body etc. They then said she would be done around 2 and they would call if it was earlier. Since we were going to hang around the area while she was groomed we checked in a 1:00 and they hadn't even started on her! Um, why the 11:00 appt. if you aren't going to even start until 1? Then we came back at 2:15, our appointed pick up time and she hadn't been dried. We waited around until they dried her and when she came out she looked exactly the same as when we brought her in! The "stylist" and I say that loosely, was lame enough to say, "oh, you wanted some off around her face right" and then proceeded to snip her face in front of us. Ummm....3 hours and you haven't even trimmed her? We were done waiting and took her home where I completed her trimming myself. I want to know what we paid $40 for and waited 3 hours for when it didn't even look like they took anything off her body or around her feet! All areas we had asked them to groom. I will never go back for Petsmarts grooming services. I would rather pay an overpriced boutique and know they are actually getting the job done...in an hour no less! read more

I took both of my dogs (2 yorkies) there today. Their appointment was at 6pm so I was a little worried that they would rush through the process and the dogs would have an awful experience. But to my surprise I was met by a friendly groomer that took the time to get to know my dogs and listen to what I wanted done, they did an outstanding job and both dogs came out very happy. I just moved here from central california and had been taking my dogs to Petco for years and this was my first time to go to Petsmart. They met all my expectations and more. Had a very bad experience in the store, Sunday many employees and vendors in the store. Went in to purchase lawn saver tabs. Compared prices in the aisle, chose a product went to cashiering to complete purchase. Shelf tag under product read 19.99 down to 16.99 thought that was a good deal. 5 people in line for the one cashier.............after a few minutes 2 more cashiers came to registers and all was good. When cashier scanned product, 32.99 down to 29.99.........Wow not what was on the shelf. Went back to check yup product above tag that read 19.99 down to 16.99. Employee came back and read bar code, product in wrong place, she moved merch. on shelf and said sorry. Waiting, and pricing fdup, I'm mad, manager too busy to get involved, we leave store. Sent e-mail to customer service Sunday.........Tuesday email response that I would be contacted in one to two days........writing this Thursday nothing from PetSmart..........corporate policy appears to be ignore......ignore......ignore........they will go away........yes I am gone. very clean store. had a great selection of product and was happy with the service that I received from the staff. went in to get some fish for my son. it was our first fish tank. needed to get everything to get started and the staff gave excellent advise and helped us get the right type of product since it was our first fish tank. store is very bright inside and ample parking outside. this store seems to have a better look and feel inside. maybe because it was very bright and clean. read more

One of the Managers or Assistant managers I came in contact here was extremely rude and unprofessional. It was to a point that I immediately left and did not continue to shop for anything. With so many of these locations there are better to choose from. It's better to support local or smaller pet stores which care for the customer's pets and are not just there for an hourly wage. read more

I like the PetSmart--it's large and the staff are helpful, but my review is primarily for Banfield Pet Hospital, which is inside the store. I took my new rescued puppy to the Banfield Pet Hospital in El Segundo, and signed him up for the puppy wellness plan. I have been impressed by a few things: The veterinarian and vet assistant were friendly and good with my pup, and the most of the desk staff were friendly too. Most importantly, someone called me after each appointment (I've taken him there twice so far) to see how he was doing. (I never got a single follow-up call from another local vet when my senior dog was being treated for a grave, life-threatening condition). I decided to go with the puppy wellness plan because puppies have to have a lot of shots, deworming, and other consultations. What I like about Banfield is that you can take your pet in for an exam free of charge whenever you have a question (you do have to pay for medications, though.) I do wish they had 24-hour care and emergency care, which is the only reason I'm not giving them five stars. Regarding the review that mentioned complaints about Banfield, I checked the Better Business Bureau web site, and the Banfield in Long Beach has an A+ rating. No listing yet for El Segundo, but I don't see anything on the BBB web site that indicates any problem with the company overall. The opposite, in fact--if one site has an A+ rating, I assume other sites will tend to be good, as well. read more

i brought my english bulldog here for puppie obedience classes. its great. the class instructor was chris. hes a great trainer. my dog learned a lot from this classes. she completed the beginer,and intermiate couses. ive also seen blythe teach her classes and shes very good. keep in mind that some people go home and dont teach their dogs anything and want to come to class and expect the dog to know everything . theres only so much the trainer can help with. push yourself and if you do as they say you aswell as your dog will learn. read more

I took my puppy here to get groomed (bath + haircut). They did a good job but could be more sympathetic to the pet owners. They are not just pets, they are our babies. I took a peek at my doggie when the lady was finishing up with him through the window . She told me to go away since it was distracting my doggie and made him more wiggly. She could have been a little nicer. I understood what she was getting at but seriously, you don't have to be so snappy about it. The lady did a good job and I'll go back. It's just stressful leaving your baby at the groomer and they could be more patient and understanding. read more

I really feel i must warn people about the GROOMERS. Do NOT take your dogs there. I have been shopping at petsmart for a while now and was pretty happy with this store and location. I also used the groomers a couple times before for just bath's with no problems. I have 2 puggle puppies who are just 8 months old. After spending $91 for the express service (so they don't have to be caged for hours) and the grooming and clipping of the nails, I got home and noticed the two back paws on one of my puppies was COVERED IN BLOOD. They had cut into the nails so deep he was bleeding. I cleaned him up and he will be fine, but i was appalled that when i called the store in a crying panic, the manager told me that dogs bleed all time and that it is their POLICY to not have to tell the customer if the dog bleeds at all. They just hope that the bleeding stops.... They have forever lost me as a customer. PLEASE DO NOT USE THE GROOMERS THERE IF YOU CARE ABOUT YOUR DOGS!!!! read more

Have done dog training and grooming here along with belonging to the Banfield pet hospital for our dog's medical care. It was just easy and around the corner. In the grooming salon our dog was nicked near his eye and on his paw but I never said anything. Grooming is more expensive than anywhere else. Tried to take my dog in at 8 am but they would take him until 12:30p. I was 15 min late and they refused to see him even though he's normally with them for several hours. This is the second time they have done this. They don't like big dogs. Too much work. Only want the easy " stand on the table" little ones. Going back to our former groomer who is easy-going, flexible with drop off and half the price! Well worth the longer drive.Will disengage from all Petsmart services as soon as I can! Told the manager who agreed it was bad service but nothing happened as usual. As customers we are all sadly becoming used to poor service. read more

PETSMART has been the worst pet store in the country. The two that I used in Torrance on Hawthorne and Sepulevada and in El Segundo, CA have the worst groomers who are very mean unprofessional and lack integrity. In Torrance my dog was damaged physically while being boarded there for seven(7) days a few years ago where she had to be treated by another veternarian office in the store. I never went back to that one again. I went instead to El Segundo, CA for my two dogs grooming, and the same little dog I have was groomed this year and lost a lot of hair afterwards, itching and in misery. The next time I took her there I asked a supervisor named Tiffany to groom her and she lied and never told me my dog did anything wrong, but later I found out she had put an order in for not to groom her again. My dogs have gone to the El Segundo store for years and this is the first I heard of her acting up and was not told until a month or so later by another so-called manager of grooming today. I do not recommend anyone going there. Some of these people can't get jobs anywhere so they take a course to be groomers and are not professionals. PETSMART also charges more for other products that you find in regular groceries stores, too, like the Bacon for teeth snacks PEDIGREE DENTASTIX for dogs are much higher which they sell. NO WAY WILL I EVER USE PETSMART. read more
