This is for the petsmart training. If you have a new dog, or a dog that isn't as trained as you would like, take them to the petsmart training!! I promise you, it is worth it. And if you don't come out happy or you and your dog didn't quite get everything, you can RETAKE the class for FREE!!! I took my 6 month old amstaf puppy to the puppy training class and it was amazing. I am not a new dog owner and I have always trained my own dogs but the trainer made it incredibly easy (I like only focusing on one or two things a week). The puppy class goes over everything you need to know about a puppy, including potty training tips. If your dog isn't a puppy, the beginning class is the same thing minus the extra puppy info. We went all the way to the advanced class, which helped my boy pass his canine good citizen test (literally everything you need to teach your dog is covered if you go from beg-med-adv class). I never planned to go further than the beginning class but I really recommend everyone go to at least the second level class! Having your dog know how to heel is just amazing!! And aside from the training, being able to work some socialization in for your dog is always welcome, especially with a trainer present for extra safety. read more

I was really appalled at one of the groomers treatment towards my dog at the El Segundo location She was really rough at handling my small dog and then proceeded to drag her across the floor. When I told her to stop dragging my dog across the floor, she said it was not a big deal and was rude. I promptly grabbed my dog and told her that I was not leaving my dog with her for her to abuse my dog. If this how they treat our dogs in front of us, only god knows what they do to them when we are not there. Our creatures can not speak and we need to protect them from groomers that think it is ok to drag our loved animals across the floor. I let the manager know and told him I would certainly never come back and this kind of behavior was not acceptable. read more

TO THE GROOMING SALON: I've been going to this location for vet services and grooming for about 6 years but yesterday I was showed poor management at the grooming salon. I scheduled an appt for grooming this week, and a day before my appt I called to change it for an earlier time. I was told nothing was avail till Friday. I made sure let them know I would only be able to drop off my dog early in the morning as I have to be at work by 8am. I woke up early, showed up and to my surprise there was no appt for us neither the people at the counter offered any type of help. I was bs around by bringing in a floor manager to tell me something I was already told (not to mention this so called manager wasn't from the grooming salon) and I was offered to get a discount for the inconvenience on my next grooming appt which as of today I haven't gotten nothing. No reschedule neither a discount. I called to speak with the manager at the grooming salon twice already, left 2 messages and no one has contacted me yet to at least reschedule. And i wasn't the only one who they turned around. At the same time I was there another person showed up with and was turned away for not being told ahead of time the grooming salon conditions. Ridiculous. So I lost 1/2 day of work over really really bad service. read more

The grooming salon needs to be more organized! There's been multiple times where i have called in the beginning of the week to make an appointment for my dog for a weekend visit and to have that appointment canceled an hour before bringing him in the suppose scheduled time i was suppose to bring him in. Most recently this past week i called in on a Tuesday to make an appointment for Sunday at 1:30 which i got a confirmation from the girl that booked my appointment. Sunday rolls around and at 11:45 am i get a call from a girl in PetSmart grooming saying that there was a mistake booking my appointment and that they will not be able to see my dog at the scheduled time. The girl gives me a choice by either canceling or moving the time up to 12:45? WTF! I told her i had my day already planned out and that i couldn't do 12:45, All she said was "sorry i cant take him in at 1:30 all i can do is 12:45". So i managed to pull away from what i was doing to go pick my dog up. ( keep in mind i live the opposite way from where i was at the time of the call) I came home around 12:45 and grabbed my dog and pulled into the PetSmart it was like 12:55. I walk to the back of the the store to the grooming salon and the girl that called me tells me that "im late and that she cant see him now" WTF! you just called me out the blue to Cancel/reschedule my appointment??? how is it that your going to tell me im late after all that? My time was suppose to be at 1:30 my day was planned for a 1:30 drop off not 12:45. after telling her that she just stairs at me saying "im sorry it was a mix up". Keep in mind its like 1oclock now,. so while shes standing there trying to figure out what to do, she finally breaks and says "ok ill take him in what would you like done"? I looked at her like WOW WTF so now you can take him in really?? So after thinking about leaving my dog with her i changed my mind not to have him groomed that day because i now did not trust her with him. She could've rushed getting my dog out which means he could get hurt maybe, i don't know anything could happen, So I went with my gut and left with my lil pup. I have been called by this PetSmart grooming department before with a rescheduled appointment more than once. It sucks because its PetSmart and you would think they would be on top of lil things like proper scheduling. I recommend that you look else where for a groomer that is better organized. Awesome store and friendly people but the grooming department needs some work. Going forward i have found a new groomer for my Lil guy. i will no longer bring my dog back to PetSmart again. read more

I have been taking my german shepard to get groomed here for a couple of years now. I made an appointment last Friday on the phone and got an appointment for Sunday at 4:00pm. When we arrived at their grooming office, they have no record of our appointment. The person on the phone did not write it down. I don't understand why it wasn't input in the computer? This is totally unacceptable. Besides grooming, I spend money on dog and cat food from this store. They were apologetic and offered us a 25 percent discount. Regardless of the mistake, I find it unprofessional. I am going to take the 25 percent discount and I will take my business elsewhere on the next appointment. If you choose to take your beloved pet here for services of any kind, its your loss and your azz if you are served poor customer service. You have been warned!! Cashiers- always need help processing the coupons THEY SELL in a $20.00 book of coupons. Really! Ugh! Grooming - Ms Chloe or Khloe the groomer booked an appt for me same day at 5:30. I had an emergency and arrived late. Ms Groomer come out and says with a smug look on her ugly face "Oh sorry hun, i have to cancel your appt today. I'm leaving soon" Oh sure, she offered to rebook the appt, next week, when it convenient for her without asking me what my schedule was. There are a couple of cool and helpful male employees I've run into who helped me out but overall, avoid this Petsmart location! Tip*** patronize your local NON CHAIN groomers and pet stores. This review is based upon Banfield, however since the hospital is located in Petsmart, I will also be boycotting Petsmart as well. I hope you do too. They are a sham and a disgrace to animals. I am extremely disappointed in the duplicitous policy that Banfield has with their wellness plan. When I signed my kittens up, I was told the plan was for one year. I was never told that it would renew automatically. While they were kittens, it seemed like a good deal. But since they are healthy, I had no intention of continuing to pay a monthly fee as I knew I would never recoup my expenses. During that one year, I received very little service and once was told to cancel a check-up for my kittens because it was an "unneccessary appointment". Again, another reason why I had planned not to renew my wellness plan. When I thought the year was almost up, I called to schedule a final check-up for the cats. I asked the receptionist if my plan was still in effect since I did not know the exact expiration date. She said yes, it was still in effect so I made the appointment. Why was I not told that my original year had ended and that I was under a "new plan"? Oh, I know why, because they just want my money. After the year was over, I started noticing that I was still being charged a monthly fee. I figured this was a mistake so I called Banfield. They referred me to a phone number that was disconnected. I called them back and got a different phone number. After being on hold for 15 minutes, I finally spoke to someone who said that I could cancel but that I owed the balance of the services from my last visit. Apparently, my last visit was 2 weeks after the initial year had ended and so now these services were covered under a new wellness plan that I never wanted. For the check-up and shots, I was told that the total cost was $404 for the first cat and $402 for the second cat. That is outrageous!! I then called a different Banfield and asked for a quote for similar services and was told that they would be approximately $120 per cat. So now, to cancel my plan, I need to pay them $800 for services that would have cost $240. What??? This practice is extremely deceitful and underhanded. I have already filed a dispute with my Visa card and will do so for every month that they try to charge me. I will NEVER use the services of Banfield animal hospital and will never shop at Petsmart again. I will tell everyone I know what horrible business practices they choose to follow. They should be ashamed. read more

I don't know why this store has only 3 stars we love it and the staff. I have a rescue pitty. The night before we got him we spent about 2 hrs in this store. That night Edwin gave us so much information on products and just good advice. He kept coming back asking if we were still ok. He saw allllll the items we were getting. He made sure we got the new puppy package, it was 20 dollars but as much as we were buying the coupons inside helped us with the very large bill we had. It more than paid for itself. At the register the cashier helped separate all our coupons , and was not rushed or bothered by alll the coupons even though there was a line forming and one of the girls ( a manager) gave us an adoption coupon book. It's not just about the coupons, it's about how much the staff that night really helped us out. We come back to the store often and every time we get the same treatment. Tonight was our first night bringing Boogie with us. I loved how the staff fell in love with him slober and all. Pittys have a stigma associated to them. I don't know why, but my previous review was deleted, but I must warn others about their pet grooming salon. I came to the grooming salon in mid-December. I have a maltese and she gets cold easily. I told her just a wash and brush and a one inch trim. My dog had about 3 inches of hair at the time. I came back and she was shaven!!! The girl that i spoke to and gave instructions to was not there, instead, some other lady who doesn't speak english was cutting her hair. It was soooo horrifying to see my dog shivering. They tried to apologize but how can they reverse what's been done? I WILL NEVER go there again! read more

Took my beautiful Toy Schnauzer there to get groomed... The groomer hacked his face his eyebrows, his body. It is the worst haircut I have ever seen on a dog. I am embarrassed to take my dog places and it will take MONTHS to grow to a normal length. I made sure to go in & request in person someone who was experienced with Schnauzer hair cuts, I think my 7year old could have done a better job. They did not charge me, but at this point I am so upset it goes beyond the grooming fee. I know it's hair and it will grow back, it's going to take a long, long time for him to get back his beautiful schnauzer beard. read more

Worst griming salon ever, I tried to take my puppy for a bath 3 times and Richard S kept messing up my appointment time; what a waste of time, it took 45 min for min time each time driving there for no reason, he wasn't able to get a bath and I am done trying. This PetSmart in El Segundo is the very best place to take your dog for grooming. They are very clean and I know we all look for that when we leave our loved one to be groomed. They are very courteous and on time and do great grooming. My favorite groomer is Tiffany. She does an awesome job and is a great asset to PetSmart. read more

I've brought my maltipoo (maltese/poodle) to the grooming salon for nearly two years. Bree takes good care of her each time. My dog is pretty scared and doesn't like these visits at first. However, I've watched Bree make her become very comfortable, and almost enjoy the grooming process. They do ask to keep her for a long time, but she's usually ready within 2 hours. They don't seem to be uncomfortable if I arrive early and watch them finish putting the bows in her ears. . . even though they come home almost as soon as she gets home. read more

Once again, the PetSmart website gave me inexplicably hard to print coupons so the cashier did not want to accept it (don't worry, the same thing happens in the Alhambra store). A manager was called and I am sorry I can't remember his name because he tried so hard to help me navigate my email (via my smart phone) to figure out the coupon situation and then ended up crediting me anyway. This poor review is due to the gentleman who is the manager. I was buying a few items and picked up two dog beds in the clearance area. The cashier said they were not clearance but kindly walked me to area and saw they were in clearance area. She called manager to see if he'd honor price. He glumly had me walk back again to the area - and blamed it on people moving these beds there. Implied that's what I did - which I didn't - but mainly - he was as from friendly as one could be. read more

They had a lot of options but Home Goods a few stores done had what I was looking for at a better price. I have brought my dog to this petsmart before and I always loved how they took care of her. She always had bows on her ears and always smelled good. The people really took pride in taking care of her. Today was a different story and I am really disappointed. I just picked up my chihuahua and the people(girls really) at the grooming salon looked bored. Some were busy but others seemed just bored and uninterested in the surroundings. Maybe I brought my dog on the wrong day but they just handed her to me like they were happy to be rid of her. She didn't have the usual goodies they normally bestow upon the animals: no lovely spritz and no bows. No report card and no enthusiasm. It was as if they did a job they didn't want to do. The girls seemed like they were too caught up in themselves with their nasty piercings and ugly attitudes. I made a comment about her not having her usual spritz and the girl actually asked if I wanted to wait so they can spray her. I thought that was the reason for leaving her to begin with. The girls today were very disappointing. I am still going to shop here for pet needs but grooming wise I may take my business elsewhere. read more

::DISCLAIMER:: I am **solely** writing regarding the TRAINING service PetSmart offers at this store. **ADDED STAR AS OF 6-19-08 ... SEE BELOW** I don't live in El Segundo--the PetSmart I shop at is in Culver City, and I have no issues with the store. I go to PetSmart for the treats because they have a huge variety, and I go to PetCo for the Frontline because PetSmart doesn't sell it. So I was at the Culver City PetSmart inquiring about advanced training. The trainer who worked there was adamant that if my dog already had significant training (fact) that I should go to the El Segundo PetSmart because their main trainer was "far superior" to her. She raved so much about him that I was excited to meet this trainer, and drove the distance. The trainer was fairly attentive and knowledgeable when I first met him, but to make a long story short -- I signed up to take a set of four private hour-long sessions with him -- and it all went downhill from there. I showed up at our agreed upon time the next week ... to find that he had forgotten about our session. It was written down in his book, but he had double-booked. He profusely apologized and we set up another time. So the next time I get ready to drive down to El Segundo, I call first and he tells me to come on down. So I go down and ... the session lasted for 30 minutes, because after 30 minutes the trainer seemed to run out of things to do. I asked him to teach me some advanced tricks - he said that he would think about it for our next session -- and then literally escorted me out to the parking lot. He apologized again for not having a lesson plan and told me that since I had been such a good sport driving all the way down to El Segundo - next time he would come up to my neighborhood. He told me he'd call on Monday. So on Thursday I call him to say I hadn't heard back. Nothing. I call on Saturday, then Sunday, then Tuesday, and then give up for a bit. Weeks after that Tuesday, he calls me and leaves a message. He apologizes again, says that he thought he had called me back but didn't ... he told me to call him again. So I did and two days later he gets back to me again and tells me that he's had a family emergency and he'll call me when he can train again. I have only had one of my four sessions - and I paid $200ish for this. He hasn't called me back yet. I've called him now probably four times and left messages. No word. So yes....one star for that. Since I signed up for lessons in Feb. and it's now ... April and I've only had one session after attempting to contact this trainer repeatedly. Even if he had a family emergency, and I'm sympathetic to that for sure ... I would hope that he or someone else would call me back to update me on the status of classes. The group lessons he taught were given to another trainer, so I would have thought that he would have handed off his private sessions as well. **ADDITION** So I decided to be fair. Four months after I started my horrible training experience at this store, I had almost run out of options. I was honestly considering legal action and had even contacted the PetSmart Corporate Dispute department and was in conversation with one of the representatives. She was incredibly helpful and asked for all the names of the people I had spoken with (or who had avoided me) and she said she'd get back to me. When I didn't hear from her after two days, I got antsy and decided to go for broke and drive down and confront the store manager. I headed in with my legal documents and evidence in tow, and when I arrived I firmly requested an audience with the store manager -- who, I was told to my utter surprise, had recently been let go! The NEW manager seemed to KNOW WHO I WAS and quickly said, "I can fully refund your money" ... two minutes later she credited my credit card and I left the store with this great big chip disintegrating on my shoulder. In the end, I got my money refunded so I decided to add a star. But I would still NOT recommend them to my friends, and I shall be wary of private classes taught by big companies from now on. read more

They get 4 only bc they were out of what I needed, but this store and staff is amazing. Everyone was extremely friendly and knowledgable. The store is huge, organized and clean. I've been to many pet stores and this by far has been the nicest one with the best customer service. I only stopped by to kill time and ended up buying stuff for my dog. Had a great experience buying prescription dog food here after a horrible experience at the Petsmart on Olympic. I simply took my vet's written prescription to the Banfield counter, answered a few questions about our dog, and was provided their "MedCard" to purchase the Royal Canin dietary food. The lady at the counter was sweet, helpful and even offered us lids for our cans we were purchasing. read more
